This is not a safe place for folks of color to stay. My two dear friends recently stayed here and were treated with rudeness and disrespect over such things as asking for recommendations on where to eat. They were also told they could not sit in the lobby, they had to go to their rooms. The situation escalated and became increasingly hostile and unsafe for them. Avoid this place and don't give them your money. This is a gentrifying establishment and they only care about white people. We don't need this in our neighborhoods.

Enjoyed my stay at Hotel Erwin. It's the best location in venice beach. The customer service was great. Room service was nice and the food was excellent. Room are comfortable and some rooms the balcony faces the beach. So you see the ocean. Cant say enough about Hotel Erwin. If your in venice beach you wanna stay here. Oh and the roof top bar and lounge has a great view. They have heat lamps and blankets if it gets a little chilly.

I loved the rooftop bar, my party got reservations for sunset. It was so so pleasant and gorgeous views, my only complaint was that the drinks were way overpriced. Even still, I would definitely go back. Our server was friendly and had great recommendations. I would recommend making reservations near a heater and also to get there earlier than you think.

Awesome view. Solid drinks. Way too windy and cold on this particular Sunday afternoon. We put our names in for a table And they didn't give us a wait time. We waited about 30 minutes and went to eat somewhere else.

The hotel is nice and comfortable. It was very clean. It has a refrigerator and microwave. The only thing is that parking is not free. You pay $ 42 to stay ONE night. For a hotel so expensive parking should be free.

Very close to the beach and the Venice boardwalk. The rooftop is by far my favorite place to hang out in the area. Great selection of beers. Great cocktails under the sun and the views are unlike any other in venice. On a clear day you're able to have an amazing experience, especially by sunset. Plan ahead for reservations, even though they are expanding... Also there is a time limit for how long you can hold a table.

Stayed here for two nights and had a good experience. My king room was spacious and stocked with nice amenities like an oversized closet and small balcony. Room was mostly quiet but you can hear some noise from the floor above. One elevator services the entire hotel and rooftop bar which can be frustrating if you're in a hurry. Valet was slow at times and I wish they had a self park option. There are several lots in the area and you might be better off parking somewhere else.

The best front desk staff anyone could ask for. Everyone greets you with a smile, when we checked in we got complimentary drinks (yummy) and all had great advice of where to go and what to see. Complimentary bikes to use around the area were awesome and a great way to see Venice. The views are spectacular, we made a reservation on the rooftop to watch the sunset! Doesn t get better than that plus the drinks are great. Thank you to everyone who made this a trip to remember: Brooke, Princess, Christina, Monet (apologize for incorrect spelling), Miguel!

Although the hotel is very well located, very close to the beach, it's clean, nice and well designed, nice staff, this level there is nothing to say. But I'm still looking for what justifies these prices (rooms and bar / restaurant). Especially since it's not really the best place to hang out in Venice. I took my last night before leaving again saying "go, we're happy! ". I have rarely invested my money so badly ...

You cannot beat the location and the rooftop bar.. the only place like it in Venice Beach. You don't have to stay here to appreciate the rooftop though... highly recommend stopping in at sunset for a drink and a bite.
The rooms are a little out dated.

It was a cool view and a great place to meet up with a large group of people if you make a reservation as they have large seating sections. The drinks were great and the food was too, definitely a great spot in venice.

We really enjoyed this Hotel... The staff were very helpful, friendly and customer service driven. The Hotels itself is located very close to Venice beach. It is modern, clean and the rooms are quiet, spacious and well designed (apart from the bathroom vanity outside the bathroom, I didn't understand that)... Anyway, the rooftop bar area is lovely. The surrounding area is not as good as Santa Monica area but it is a lovely stroll up the beach... If we return to LA would would be happy to stay at this Hotel again.

At sunset is always full of people. I strongly advise you to book otherwise .......! The view is beautiful. In the evening take a little wool otherwise ..........! You will be provided with a plaid. Go!

Service was top notch. Drinks are on the pricey side with $15 minimum for cocktails. Sunset view and table side heaters with blankets provided by the hotel make your experience comfortable. Staff are extremely friendly and accommodating to off menu drink orders.

Amazing views.
Cocktails are interesting. But you get a better pour ordering a glass of your favorite spirit.

We stayed for spring break and had a great time. The staff was so helpful with any question that we had. I would go up to the roof top lounge in the morning, when it was closed, to enjoy a morning streach. What a great way to start the day. My only complaint would be that they charges hourly for WiFi, to me that was kind of ridiculous. So I just went around the corner to the Cairo Cowboy for a cup of coffee and use theirs.
We would recommend this as a nice place to stay in Venice.

I stayed at the Erwin Hotel for 4 days in August and I love this hotel. The location is perfect, close the airport, beach and tons of restaurants. The rooms are clean, comfortable and modern. The hotel restaurants were both great. I had lunch with my 17 year old son at the rooftop lounge. The burger and salad were delicious and we had a perfect view of all of Venice Beach. We had breakfast at the Barlo and portions were plentiful. The staff was accomodating, much to my surprise they let us check in early. The entire hotel staff s service exceeded my expectations. Miguel checked us in and was extrememly helpful and friendly. Jillian s kindness and generousity went far beyond hotel hospitality. I had a minor emergency my last night there and Jillian really went out of her way to help me. Her compassion is greatly appreciated. I will definitely be back!

Good location for folks visiting Venice. There was a super loud rooftop party though, and I was staying in a room right below it. They did end at 10pm thankfully on a Monday. The rooms were nice and clean with lots of space. Not sure if it was worth the price of the room though all hotels in the area are ridiculously expensive I guess. Staff was friendly. I didn't have a hairdryer in my room though and front desk didn't pick up when I rang. I just did without though.

This is the best hotel I've ever stayed at. The first surprise came on my first day when at around 5 pm there was a knock on my door. I didn't order anything. I opened the door and there was a vibrant, young lady, who said, "Hello! Free wine or beer?" Yes! The service here is top notch and they make sure you enjoy your stay. The rooms are immaculate, and housecleaning is also top notch. They work with your schedule. I got a room with a view and could see the sun set over the Pacific everyday and hear the ocean as I went to sleep. You can also hear the local "character" late at night, too, but that was fine by me.

Location is very good, pretty much right next to the beach. The room is clean and perfect size, but I probably got the worse room of the hotel, which is facing a back alley. My only complaint is the room has a bit of a funny smell.

I love this hotel, it has everything you need for a shorter trip. Is right on the beach. Super nice and attentive staff. On the roof it has a great view including delicious drinks and snacks.

As a Venice local & meeting planner who use to love bringing guests to the rooftop lounge for the view at sunset, I was utterly disgusted by the way I was treated yesterday by the front desk women as well as the man checking ID's at the rooftop and am beginning to fear this lack of kindness and graciousness for patrons, especially locals, is starting to spread through the hotel. Having worked in hospitality with Starwood & Marriott, I understand that each and every patron and guest should be treated with kindness, respect and a high level of customer service. Clearly this is not the case at Hotel Erwin and not only will I not return, I will be sure to share the story of the outright unprofessional, and appalling service I have received here, on 3 different occasions with the meeting planning organization and broader local community. This last incident was the final straw. Yesterday, 8/1/2018 at 7:10 PM, 2 women were working the front reception- the most important part of the hotel as it is the first impression for all guests. I was bringing a group of 6 people to High Bar for a sunset cocktail. **We called and left a message on Monday 7/30 to discuss reservations and pay in advance- no one returned our call** I arrived at the hotel at 7:10 PM having come straight from work in Santa Monica and carrying a lap top and professional camera in a nice bag. I first checked with the 2 front desk girls who were both standing there- without a smile and without a desire to engage or offer help. I was very polite and explained that I was just coming from work to meet a group on the rooftop and would like to know if I may check my small duffle bag. *trying to be considerate of the limited walkway space at high bar* A woman with braces first asked if I was a guest, then mumbled something to me about walking left and left. I asked her to repeat herself and she spoke up in an annoyed manner with an eye roll, repeating a mumbled saying about leaving the building and going left and left. ??? Strange, I'm in a hotel lobby asking to check a bag for an hour as I am a patron at their restaurant and will be spending money. I exited, confused, and thought maybe I would understand what she means once I walk "left and left'. I ended up in the alley between the hotel and EggSlut looking for a possible back door to a bag storage room??? When i reentered, I said, "i'm so sorry, but I did not see anywhere to leave my bag and was walking the alley between Eggslut and Erwin. To which she laughed, and said.. no, not the alley, it's on windward, the main street. Now i'm very confused. You're a hotel, I'm a guest of the restaurant and bar, I have thousands of dollars of equipment in a small duffle, and am simply trying to be respectful of the space at the bar and asking for a brief hour of storage and you're sending me to the boardwalk???? Her attitude and ZERO interest in trying to understand, explain or help, was so unbelievable, i said, "never mind i'll take it with me." openly frustrated at the lackluster behavior of both receptionists.
Once on the rooftop, the man checking ID's was on the radio with someone else asking what the bag policy is on the rooftop. He explained that we cannot have bags on the rooftop and would need to hold the bag with him and give me a claim ticket. as he's tearing the ticket and taking my bag, he receives another radio chat in his hear.. "whats that? yes, a duffle bag, oh...ok ....so no?" and then explains that "we cannot hold your bag". It was very clear that these two women- especially the VERY RUDE girl with braces- had pulled an immature power move and made sure that MY bag was not allowed. At this point, our group of 6 proceeded to Rose Cafe where the service is outstanding and our night was a blast! As mentioned, this is my 3rd and final negative experience with customer service from front desk to waitresses. I'm so sorry that Erwin has become so proud that they feel they do not need to offer customer service and they do not care about locals or losing business. I will be sure to share far and wide.

Amazing staff and great location

Amazing staff and great location
We stayed at this hotel 27th of December. We had booked two nights here but unfortunately missed the first night as we missed our flight connection from London to LA. Miquel was so kind upon our arrival and because we missed our first night, he upgraded us to a huge room on the top floor with a big balcony overlooking Venice Beach. That was such a lovely surprise after a long journey. Upon check out the next day he was once Again amazing as he gave us free breakfast vouchers even though we had not booked a room with breakfast. Again, so lovely of him. The rest of the staff was also very very sweet.
The location of the hotel is amazing, a 1-minute walk to the Beach and all the attractions.
We would stay at this same hotel if we come back to Venice Beach.

Didn't have a great start to my stay but they certainly made up for it. All in all the hotel is nice and the rooftop is amazing. Good staff though one or two didn't seem very interested, especially those working on the rooftop. Perfect area to stay in LA and free bike rental is a plus.

Great location for happy hour drinks. My coworkers and I went to Hotel Erwin's rooftop bar to hang out and celebrate our company's success. Each person under the reservation has to spend $60, minimum, which sucks, unless you're trying to go out on a bender. Even with ordering food, it's still a lofty price to reach. Fortunately, our work paid for the whole evening, so this isn't something each of us individually needed to worry about. Overall the food and drinks were good. If you're willing to go out of your way to pay an arm and a leg for a spot with great views of the boardwalk, then this is the place for you.

My favorite hotel to stay on the west side. It is right in the middle of the action of Venice. Steps to the boardwalk and places to eat. One of the best sunset views at night from the roof bar.
