My room smelled VERY strongly of sharpie. I walked in and was disgusted. Didn t feel clean at all. Don t be fooled, this is a motel, not a luxury hotel like the website portrays. And they charge 45 dollar per parking! I stayed in the hotel for maybe 15 minutes and right away booked a better one, the RITZ CARLTON where they don t charge at all for parking!!

Comfy, clean beds and linens. Room service menu is limited but quite good. Staff is friendly. The roof deck's loungers are awesome for bringing up your coffee or books during the day -- I think the atmosphere changes a lot at night. 5 stars not because it's a stellar experience, but because it doesn't shoot too high but is nice in all the right ways.
Be forewarned that the bathroom doors are really lame.
Great location and they have a nice rooftop lounge as well. You get an amazing view from the Oceanside rooms and also the rooftop. Right on Venice Beach so there's a lot to do around. I would definitely take the Oceanside rooms as the city view rooms do not have the nice view. Rooms are ok. The bathroom is spacious and the amenities are good as well.
Fantastic place to grab drinks on the only rooftop bar in Venice Beach. They have heaters and blankets at every table and we were able to walk right in at 9pm on a Saturday night and get a private table without a reservation. The drinks were excellent and decently priced for a rooftop bar. Views were wonderful and I wish we had been there at sunset. Service was attentive and quick. We had a great time, thanks!
Good service, but the drinks are pretty expensive for what they are. For $16 it should be an exceptional drink, and none of what we tried was. The atmosphere is great though and so it's the view.
Extremely friendly staff from the valet guys to the hostesses and bar tenders. Grabbed drinks and food from the bar restaurant up top... Awesome views of Venice and the water. Can't wait to go back for another Sunday brunch!
Hotel very over priced for lack if amenities and customers service. In the Roof Top lounge waitress put a automatic gratuitie on my bill for two people that only 1 hour 30 min stay. Food was not good and over priced.
I've been to Hotel Erwin in June 2017 to stay for about two nights at the beginning of my Westcoast Tour.
I booked a (relatively expensive) Kingsize Ocean View Room. I had ocean views, but only sidewise, so this was not what I expected at this prize to be honest. The room itself was tidy, clean and had a modern style. However, my room was directly below the Roof Top Bar and directly next to emergency steps from it. This led people coming down the stairs and doing phone calls right 2-3 meters next to my bed! Sleeping with windows opened was impossible, not mentioning some drunk people climbing over my balcony fence! The roof top itself provides beautiful views above Venice, consider it's getting very cold at the evening!
If you like to keep it low budget, you may visit a mall beforehand and get yourself some stuff to enjoy at sunrise on your balcony.
Back to the Hotel: The bathroom was a modern style with much space. The hotel even provides two different fancy bathrobes, just checkout people's pictures on Instagram. My room had an (unnecessary) huge TV with all common US-programs. I received a key for the minibar, but it didn't work, but I didn't bother for it anyway. The hotel has only one elevator. That being said, you should consider waiting or taking the steps in "rush hours".
Check in/check out is easy, so nothing to say about that.
Last thing to mention is that you really should consider taking Uber or ordering a cab by yourself to get anywhere. The receptionist ordered a cab for me and said it's going to be about USD 50. I paid USD 75 for a taxi which didn't even look like one.
The elevators are pretty slow but once you get up to the rooftop, and their views are amazing! You can see the entire city as well as an Ocean View in a panoramic fashion. Drinks are expensive and not that good as well as hard to come by because the line is usually pretty long, but in the summer is a great place to go to at sunset. In the winter is it gets pretty cold so I would recommend bringing a jacket at least even during the evening hours.
This hotel offered exceptional services to their guests. Hotel rooms are clean and nice. The staff were amazing and friendly especially the receptionists Mohit and Andrea
Just passed by with my 10 year old daughter who was having really bad stomach pains and needed a restroom. Was told it was for paying guests only, I offered to by a drink at the bar and they still refused. What kind of establishment would do this to a kid?? Considered staying here on my next visit to the area and based on this behaviour, as nice as the hotel looks, will definitely not.
Super friendly staff, great and modern rooms, fantastic location, huge TVs, free adult-sized bike rentals perfect for Venice Beach rides, cool rooftop bar. Overnight valet parking is expensive, but there are other public parking options that are less pricy. Highly recommended!
The view at the rooftop bar is beautiful, but make sure to bring a jacket if it's overcast since the afternoon onshore winds tend to be pretty strong. Good drinks, but high prices and really slow and sometime rude service. None of the employees seemed like they wanted to be there at all.
The hotel has spacious clean rooms and fast WiFi. The staff is helpful and the restaurant is decent. I recommend checking out the rooftop lounge for atmospheric views of Venice Beach.
They provided poor service and harassed some friends of mine, then canceled their reservations and had them arrested. Not cool. I would love a comment on the protest at your establishment today about racism in your hotel.
We went to the rooftop for drinks. Despite most of the rooftop being empty, we we're seated on the far side of the patio by the elevator. It wasn't even really an umbrella by us, as the area was so small. It was 6 p.m. and nearly 100 degrees... So sitting in the sun sweating my makeup off wasn't the original plan. They should invest in linen covers or more umbrellas instead of one umbrella per lounge area. Our server was fantastic though! I don't remember her name, but we were there on a Friday, and she had blond hair and said " I like that about you" to some of our drink orders. She deserves a raise!
The location is convenient, but there was alot of construction noise starting around 9am. Really loud and distracting noise that you'll have a hard time sleeping or trying to work from your room.
Pretty hip decor. Rooms are small for two people but very well furnished. The whole place is a bit loud and this wouldn't be a good choice for families or anyone that wants to sleep before midnight.
Great place. I wish they would recognize their return customers with room specials. It is a little tough to pay full price to stay everytime. If they offered some specials every now and then it would entice us to return more often. Fantastic hotel however.
We stayed for four days (my three youngsters and I). They would give it five stars. They loved the charming doormen and valets, so considerate. The hip, leopard print robe was popular. There were some celebs staying across the hall. Always activity in the lobby. The restaurant is great. I was disappointed the desk staff wasn't more responsive. I asked for chairs (missing) for our balcony and they never appeared (in four days). We always got three towels even thought there were four of us in the room. It's a bummer you have to be 21 to enjoy the roof. Little things like that. But overall a great location and well done property.
This place is great and the staff is amazing. They're so friendly here. Definitely smashed my expectation! I'm staying here for a couple more days and if already love to come back:)
We stayed 2 nights. Great view of Venice Beach. The Roof Top Bar is apparently "the place for drinking" and is located at this hotel. Room we had was clean and large. Water pressure not as strong in the shower. Close to boardwalk and beach
I stayed here for 5 days last Labor Day weekend. I have to say that my first impression (judging from the outside) was skeptical. I m glad I was wrong. The room was neither the largest or the most stylish but by far and away, the staff was incredible. The view from my top floor room was excellent and the bar on the top seemed to be the hippest place in town. The food at their restaurant was really good and I got the chance to see some celebrities as well, namely Kevin Hart. Ultimately, I had so much fun that week and with my stay at the Erwin that I decided to uproot and move to Venice. Who knew my initial skepticism would result in that?
Great location. Comfy bed with really soft sheets. Carpet looks a little worn but otherwise hotel is in good shape. Bathroom counter has lots of space and nice toiletries in room.
Nice place, located in a back alley, right next to Venice Beach boardwalk. Really cosy rooms, clean, great room service. Tremendous bar on the top, magnificent views, can get crowded though. Totally recommending if you wanna go to LA and spend some time in a quiet and comfortable atmosphere!
Overrated in my opinion. Crowd here is not friendly Venice community, it s LA folk coming from inland to feel cool and spend a ton of money for the day or it s tourists who don t know any better or it s expense account business travelers. View of ocean isn t that great but probably best available vs. spots in Santa Monica. Worth a cocktail with more authentic experience elsewhere afterwards.
Beautiful view, nice hotel. Rooftop restaurant was really disorganized and food got delayed an hour. Waitress was quite bitchy about it which didn't make it better.
Great hotel, old place that was modernized. The halls are a little narrow and the elevators are slow, but the rooms are really. Nice and the hotel is great
The rooftop restaurant/bar is a stunning location. The views of Venice are amazing and the lounge seating is very comfortable. The food and drinks were great, however the service was awful. We waited forever in between visits from our server and she was pretty rude when we asked for anything. It's definitely still worth a visit though.
Location location location! The hotel staff was super nice, super friendly and incredibly helpful. Miguel and Alex are two of the nicest people I have ever met!
The hotel is nice with comfortable beds that invite sleep! I love the TV system, which allowed me to cast my home television service to the television in my room. The artwork throughout is unique and BoHo like the area. Excellent views of the beach, Santa Monica and downtown LA from my balcony
While food services are limited, Uber Eats is a great option. The proximity to the beach and the Venice shopping area is awesome!
The room and parking were a little pricey, but the proximity to the beach and knowing my car was safe and sound gave me piece of mind.
Hotel Erwin is my home in Los Angeles from now on!
Super nice hotel! They upgraded us to a suite and Brandon helped us a lot. He took or bags to our room.when they upgraded us he then took our bags to that room! The room was perfect and the roof top lounge was very cool! We had a great time!
It was a cold night. She wore red. I wore black. I dont know where I'm going with this. I just want the dollar from google for writing a review. Cool place. Good views. Decent, but way overpriced food and cocktails. Beer was a good price though. Crazy
The hotel is absolutely great the hotel manager Zander is the best the hotel is very clean the staff is excellent I recommend this hotel is right off the beach of Venice
Food and drinks were pretty decent, but you really go here for the view. Prices were kind of high but again you come here for the view and to be outdoors. I would definitely come here again!
