We drove down from Vegas for a quick weekend getaway before the second lockdown begins we waited till we got here to checkout the area as we seen some reviews in the area said there is lots of tents and homeless but I ve been here before and it s the usual amount which you can expect in any busy city area and they don t bother you at all we are 3 girls and felt completely safe here, we even went out late at night when all the daytime people left to give out food to some of the street people and they were very nice we didn t feel scared whatsoever!

I m happy we didn t listen to the bad reviews as this place is awesome just steps to the beach lots to do and see plenty of fun characters to do people watching the staff is super friendly the area is very convenient everything you need is walking distance we even got to hangout on the rooftop that is only available for their guests the views are gorgeous it was like we had our own little private VIP party the rooms are modern and up to date we could see the ocean from our room very happy highly recommend

A comfortable hotel with a quirky, laid back vibe steps away from the beach. Within easy walking distance of restaurants and other Venice attractions. Across multiple stays I've found the staff friendly and accommodating.

Venice is just sketchy. There was a shooting at the bar across the street on my last night there. It was like a war zone. 9 shots. 10 police cars. Helicopters with search lights. Do yourself a favor. Visit Venice during the day to see the freak show, and stay somewhere safe at night.

This place may be said to be over rated. See for yourself.. Stay here and watch the sunset over the bar Lounge over looking Venice Walk where the restless walk along below you ... And oh Yea ask about the bottomless Mimosas

This is a nice little place with plenty of restaurants and whatnot close by within a short walking distance. Good accommodations and service, and there's a parking lot right next door that is $10/day. Unfortunately there's no parking included, but unless you're getting a rental car it's not a problem. Right by the beach / Venice boardwalk so again it's a pretty great location for walking around.

We had reservations at High Rooftop Bar, on top of Hotel Erwin. The security were very friendly, and kindly pointed us in the direction of the host booth. We were "greeted" by Eduardo, who put his hand in my face so to shush me, as he was getting a phone call. After the phone call, he continued to be unfriendly. I hate to say other reviews I read about the place were correct in stating the unfriendliness of the staff, including our waitress. I ordered two different kinds of drinks, as the first one wasn't good but the second was. The sunset view from the place is spectacular, though. We made the best of the situation with the staff, and still had a pleasant tome thanks to the view.

Much less impressive in person. This hotel s strongest asset is it s incredible location (it s practically on the Venice boardwalk). Likely a very convenient stay for surfers or beachgoers looking to stay close to the shore, and probably only briefly in the area. Overall it s an overpriced option during the pandemic, and would still be a hard sell even after CA re-opens.

The room I was put in was underwhelming despite having booked a higher end option. The floor is entirely tile with a rather mediocre design. It felt entirely lackluster for what I paid. The only redeeming quality was the outdoor balcony which is not as private as the hotel claims. You can also hear quite a bit through the neighboring room walls, as well as through the ceiling.

The room also has, very unfortunately, lamps and nightlights scattered about that cast a significant amount of light into the room (I had to unplug my lamps completely at night). This, along with the thin walls, more or less ruined my sleep while I was there.

Unsurprisingly there were essentially no open amenities at the hotel (due to coronavirus), which isn t their fault but did of course further detract from the experience as well.

I would not recommend staying here unless you re planning on surfing and need the convenience of being on the beach, and you have a heavy wallet. There are much better options that are more affordable albeit a bit further from the beach.

The roof bar was a little bit much. If you are going to act like a club on top of a hotel make sure people who are staying there get really good service. Also make sure your sound system is top notch. My phone has better sound. And no EDM unless it's house music.

The room was micro everything but nice. The price was outrageously expensive no free parking you'll pay any where from $30 to $50 to park, an no food in the building. We were told we could eat at the roof top lounge then got turned away because my daughter was not 21. Crazy beings we had just been told we could eat there. No over night services. When we got here they tried to charge us upwards of almost $300 for one night, until we went to walk away then it was $184 a night. My how fast the price changed. The air in the room didn't work very well at all an unless you eat before 6 pm you won't eat at all. Pro 2 blocks from Venice boardwalk. Con at night I wouldn't park in the back of the building.

From the moment i walked through the door and was greeted by the friendly staff, i knew my stay at Hotel Erwin was going to be amazing. Venice Beach is so incredibly cool and as an Aussie, has so many cultural reference to my TV consumption growing up. I was so excited to be there and Hotel Erwin's location, views and atmosphere made the experience. I will go back to Hotel Erwin time and time again. P.S smashed avo and a latte in bed is a must, as is a sundowner at Barlo....it's perfection.

We loved the close proximity to the ocean, but we felt a bit duped by the hotel in that they stated on their website bikes were available on a first come basis but this was not true. We rented bikes one day, but our week stay would have been more pleasant if we could have grabbed a bike to go for short jaunts while we were there. We chose not to rent a car and used Uber for getting to appointments, but when we wanted a bottle of wine for instance the neighborhood doesn't have much in the way of good shops in walking distance, the Whole Foods was best but was a bit more than half an hour walk away, on a bike it would have made much more sense! We really conceived the trip with access to hotel bikes, which we have used in other cities and really makes a stay much nicer than having to find parking and navigate a foreign place with a car.

We went to the rooftop patio for dinner and drinks. Everything from the seating to the succulent accents we're very clearly well thoughout to give you the best experience possible. We ordered Margaritas which were $16 each. When they came we we're shocked at how small they were - just a regular water glass size. However they were probably the best Margaritas I've had. We wanted dinner but they only had 5 items, all being small appetizer size. I got the sliders which were $14. Three small bacon cheeseburger sliders came out. They were pretty good but not worth the money. The buns looked like cheap store bought dinner rolls but they did the job. Overall I'd say it was a little expensive for what you get but the view and location are unbeatable.

I take friends to the rooftop lounge/bar for the view of the ocean and the friendly staff. Unfortunately the internet was not working so all drinks were on cash exchanges only. Other than that this spot is great. Make sure you get a reservation if you want to enjoy the more premium lounge booths.

Some of the rooms have a thin internal door connecting to the room next-door. You can hear your neighbors laughing, coughing or watching TV as if they were inside your room.
I strongly recommend the hotel manager to sound-proof these x-room-doors, or better replace them with a regular wall, as one normally does not expect / need a door leading to the neighbouring room.

Other than this, the location of the hotel is pretty good and the staff is friendly and helpful.

Ok, to be honest. From the outside of the hotel it looked a bit sketchy. DONT BE FOOLED! This hotel and its staff are totally top shelf. The rooms are spacious and stunning, everything is spotlessly clean. The beds are very comfortable with linens are top shelf in comfort. There a robe included for your use in your walk in closet. Every detail has been thought of here. They include a coffee/tea maker, high-end snacks for purchase and a stocked refrigerator with a great drink selection. The rooftop restaurant has a stunning view of Venice Beach and amazing sunset views. Getting seats is near impossible EVEN if you have a reservation (they jaked me 2xs), but service and food are outstanding. The hotel is located right in the middle of everything. I highly recommend The Erwin Hotel Venice Beach for comfort, convenience and services.

Very well located. Walk 2 min and you are on Venice beach (at the famous skatepark on the beach). you can have a room with a beautiful view on the beach and the rooftop is great as well.

We went to the rooftop bar on a Saturday night and had a great time. The drinks are nice, the view is great and the ambience is really nice. They provide blankets so you feel cozy and comfortable all night. I loved it and would go there again!

This is a small step up from a youth hostel. There s zero customer service, the front desk staff is useless, and the rooms are gross. I got a handicap room (though I m not handicapped) and the shower didn t even have a curtain. It was like a prison shower , plus the water splashing all over the bathroom is a major hazard. The beds don t even have comforters on them. Would never ever stay here again.

Just SO good! Absolutely golden. From the friendly welcome to the chic retro vibe rooms, and the awesome roof top bar. This place is the business. Thank you to everyone I met who was super friendly and helpful. I had room service of some sort pretty much every day and it was really great. Excellent views and the welcome hot chocolate with Jack Daniels went down a treat. Thanks a million: highlight recommended by me!
