Thos hotel was really cute. Great vibe and totally Instagramable, the rooms are small and if you are travelling with your partner... all the mysteries will be gone. Our toilet was in a closet what was very impersonal. The rooms are not soundproof so bring ear plugs. It's by the park and in a very cute area. No cafes close but 20 minutes from tourist attractions.

Stayed in January and will defiantly return. So easy to get to with the tram and that makes it a great place to explore the rest of the city from. I loved the unique style of the whole place and the room really great looking. The surrounding area has lots to do and I've already recommended this place to friends going to Amsterdam.

At the time of writing this review, Hotel de Hallen is still very new and hip. It's situated in an amazing building that not so long ago used to be a huge tram shed. It brings great atmosphere to the hotel. Everything about it is nice in a designy way. Rooms are nice, not crazy creative, but still cool and very comfortable. In the same building as the hotel you'll find a really nice cinema and the amazing Foodhallen, a MUST visit. Check the reviews. The hotel by the way serves very nice food too and staff is very friendly. Even if you're not staying over, they'll let you use their comfty corners, where you can sit back and relax or plug in your laptop and do some work.

Set in a renovated tram depot this hotel is one of a kind! The location, the Old West neighborhood, is also fantastic with Foodhallen right next door and a short walk to multiple tram stops. Would happily stay here again.

We had a room with an outside window. The room was very clean and the welcome very warm. Due to the corona situation we only got one breakfast bag. For 7.50 euros I find a crossoint, an apple, a yoghurt and an orange juice a little inadequate ...

Stylish, modern, clean, ideally located far away from the touristy center but right by the tram (street car) and adjacent to the foodhallen. I stayed here over New Years and guests were invited to a glass of champagne. Overall lovely experience. Would definitely return.

Modern and very attractive architecture, spacious room and very comfortable mattress! Super breakfast! Not very cheap, but it's worth it. Next to it there is an area obtained from an old train station with all kinds of street food, cinema and library ... to see and taste everything! Tram stop 2 minutes away. Perfect vacation!

Fantastic hip hotel in a trendy part of Amsterdam. Great decor and lovely rooms. Would always be my first choice for a return visit. Lots of tasty bars and restaurants nearby and the ones in the hotel all well worth a try.

Lovely modern and stylish Hotel about 10mins by tram to Amsterdam centre 30min walk.
Hotel is attached to De Hallen Foodhall and cinema with loads of places to eat near.
Shops, off-licence etc about 10mins walk.
Rooms were comfortable, clean warm with coffee machine and fridge.
Staff are very friendly and helpful, would stay again/ recommend.

The streets next to the hotel are undergoing repairs these days of September 2018, which makes it difficult to access the hotel and also unexpected water cuts occur in the hotel's health service, without notice. I recommend not to stay here until the arrangements are completed on the streets and / or that the hotel invests in some water storage system at the same time.

We stayed there for 3 nights. Unfortunately there was no window in the room that you could open.
WLAN didn't work either and there was no German television except ARD and ZDF
I also found it very uncomfortable that the toilet was behind a swinging door and there was hardly any privacy.
The location was very good. It was quick to get to the center by train.
It is perfectly sufficient for one night, but 3 nights was definitely too long

Beautiful space well exploited and well decorated (reception, corner bar, mini living room). We feel good upon arrival. the rooms are very clean and relaxing, well soundproofed. Breakfast very complete and hearty. The staff is young and smiling. Parking under the hotel convenient but very expensive. The hotel could have negotiated a price for the guests. Only small "quack" avoid the first rooms that are near the dining room (noise).

Three courses for 35 euros in the restaurant is good value.

Completely renovated tram depot in which rooms have been built. Scandinavian design furniture makes it complete. Staff are attentive and friendly. The large terrace also has WiFi coverage and you can also work inside.

Arrived to the hotel from the main airport at 6am. Told them a month in advance that I'll be arriving early and will need an early check-in. The guy at the front desk told us there are no rooms available until 11am... So now we have to walk around the city for 5 hours after an 8 hour (sleepless) flight. When we got back to the hotel at 11, it took another hour for them to clean the room and "inspect" it. When we finally got the room key, surprise surprise, it didn't work. Now we had to go back to reception for them to give us a new one. Yes, I was in a bad mood but they didn't try to make the situation any better. Will not return.

It's so cute and pretty. The staff are very friendly. We have everything except the toothbrush, but you can bring it to the front desk. Old tram station? It's made by renovating it to a hotel. Pretty place rather than cool.

This is the first holiday we had this year due to covid-19. Time to relax a bit. Chose Amsterdam for the musea and the foodhallen concept (Support the locals when possible in these horrible times right?). We have been to the foodhallen in Rotterdam and The Hague as well and had a wonderful experience there. Amsterdam not so much. We booked the trip via the Hotel website as a staycation including a voucher for the foodhallen. We even got a confirmation by email after we inquired that specific aspect just to be sure. At least that is how it worked with the other locations but apparently not in Amsterdam. Even the manager looked into it , basically said you are wrong, we can t do anything for you at all. we should have booked another option via there website which is very unclear. Furthermore he had the audacity to say that we can always go to the foodhallen to experience it. Duh!

Second issue, breakfast. Was included. Around 15 euro a person. Due to covid-19 we got each day a bag with breakfast items. But what we got, was a disappointment and not worth the price.

To conclude. Can I recommend this hotel? No. Our experience ended in a disappointment while we paid good money for it. You are much better of booking the same experience in The Hague or Rotterdam. Get a train ticket and visit Amsterdam that way. Much friendlier for your wallet and much better surroundings.

Is a very nice modern hotel and is also centrally located near public transport and yet it is quiet. The staff is very friendly and courteous and helpful. It is also great to eat here and there are good cocktails. Can you recommend good conscience and we will also check in again when we come back to Amsterdam.

This was my first time visiting Amsterdam, and I fell in love with this beautiful city! I chose to stay just outside the main area for the quieter location. Hotel De Hallen was right next to Foodhallen (a large food court) and a 15 minute walk to the Museum district, De Jordaan (my favorite area I visited), and Vondelpark. Quiet, but still close enough to many sights.

My double room itself was modern, very clean, with plenty of outlets and a pleasantly large size for this part of Europe. The bed was fairly comfortable, if a little firm, with soft linens. The bathroom was very large, with a rain shower and separate bath tub (also gigantic).

The rooms have no windows, instead the wall facing the hallway is all glass. It s sort of public though so I kept the curtain drawn. Would have been nice if there were some natural light but not a big deal.

My room was also in the worst spot next to a service entrance, definitely needed earplugs. If you get room 122, ask to switch if possible.

There s an attached restaurant and bar, which I didn t eat at (too many other options to try). Good sized outdoor patio as well to dine or enjoy a drink at.

Despite the room noise, I would stay here again for the nice service and modern, clean rooms.

We found this place last minute through the agoga app. This hotel is absolutely amazing; from the service, to the room as well as the location. Its nestled in a quiet enough corner that you can sleep peacefully, it has a cute patio to have your breakfast and its close enough to central that you can walk there in 10-15 mins. Love it

A very nice hotel with friendly staff. Rooms are clean a good size and have good bedding and mattresses. Rooms are sound proofed but do not have external windows. The location is very good with a choice of bars and restaurants in easy walking distance.

Love this place! Comfy and friendly staff!
Very artsy as well, fantastic place to take a break and just enjoy the environment.

Food de Hallen is just next door, fresh market just down the road in the morning. There's a really good pancake house (the breakfast club) nearby as well.

Over all we had a great stay at Hotel de Hallen, with some minor issues.
The twin room didn't really have a real door for the toilet or bathroom, which is fine if it's a double but less so in a twin. Also the AC was a bit loud. Apart from these issues it was great

Great

Amazing place! We stayed in one of the apartments and had a great time. Everything is very clean, well designed, and the apartment is fully furnished and equipped. Feels like living in a place that's between an apartment and a five star hotel. Comfortable beds, great kitchen to cook at, and a supermarket 3 min walk. Close to city center and to the tram station. The staff was very nice and helpful with everything we needed, from the minute we got there till the minute we left, even after we checked out.
Only minus is that it's on the second floor without an elevator, and that there are no windows that open, feels a little too much.
Anyway would absolutely love to visit there again :)

Friendly welcoming staff and cool restaurant and bar (with room service!). Stayed here 3 days and on a similar occasion will stay here again. This hotel is just outside the city centre and located in a trendy neighbourhood with good restaurants & cafes.

Hotel DeHallen is in a great location in Amsterdam near Ten Kinkerstraat station. It's next to Food DeHallen which has excellent option for evening and late night food and drinks. The interior of the hotel is very modern. The room as you enter smell fresh and clean. The bed was comfortable although i was little hot in the comforter but you can adjust temp inside the room. Also they didnt give any body lotion so if you need some bring it with you. Other toiletteries were pretty good. The hotel staff is really nice and very helpful to give you directions or visit a location. They recommended us to go to D'Adam lookout tower and do the swing ride which was awesome. The store is also close to grocery store, coffee shops and other places to eat. If you come from Schipol airport, take the train to Central Station and from there take the Tram#17 to Ten Kinkerstraat station. We got the 3 day Amsterdam regional pass which you can use on Trams, Trains and Buses.

I booked a non-refundable hotel booking, then the world grinded to a halt 48 hours later. I asked the hotel to change my booking dates, as this has minimal cost to themselves. They refused.

The hotel has no morals and will regurgitate the same scripted response of 'non-refundable booking'. What the hotel management seems to not understand, which many other major hotel chains have now taken onboard, is that in a global pandemic, having zero flexibility means your reputation and customer base will be destroyed.

The terrible management of this hotel is the direct reason that half of their staff will be unemployed soon, and their Tripadvisor and Google rating will be slaughtered.

I suggest this hotel has a drastic change in its policy if it wants to survive through this pandemic. If management would like to discuss this, they have my email address...

Good luck to the non-management employees at this hotel, it's a shame you will be the ones taking the brunt of this pandemic, and won't get any support from those above.

I love decor - the photos don't do it justice. Importantly, the room is very spacious, the bed really comfortable, the layout is really clever and modern, and everything all is shiny, new and spotless!
The handwritten welcome note and baggie of goodies were a lovely touch!
But... I was attacked by bed bugs and it took some effort for management to acknowledge the terrible bites all over my body and offer compensation.
Great hotel, but make sure your room is free of pests...

Great!

Eccentric tramshed turned hotel with tasteful interior and coveted furnitures to explore in the lounge. No windows but hey, how often do you get to sleep in a really clean and stylish tramshed in a trendy neighbourhood.

The street market near by is a great spot to grab food

Housekeeping stole over $1000 USD from our safety box at this hotel. Management was very unhelpful with the situation and tried to point the finger at us. I checked in, placed the money in the safety box, when I checked out it was gone. The thief was smart and knew to only take the large bills in the stack so it was not as noticeable when I removed it from the safety box. No doubt it was stolen from this hotel. Please be careful of valuables when leaving it in your hotel room here, even in the locked safety box.
