Horrible.....paid overpriced rates on a teachers salary for 20 loyal years and was never late for anything.

For some fairytale reason I thought that the teachers insurance company was more ethical than the rest of the industry so i just paid.. Obviously I was wrong.

At the beginning of March I put in a claim because my camper was damaged over the winter. A ball had hit a valve and it leaked all winter and rotted the floor. It was not maintenance, it was an accident that I didn't know even happened.

82 days of everyday phone calls and they are still fighting me on a fair settlement. The 2nd party adjuster came out and estimated the damages at $6000, then Horace Mann asked him to change the estimate and they sent me a check for $823. The 2nd party appraiser said that Horace Mann instructed him to change the original estimate and said they were crooks.

In the last 82 days I have change my insurance company to State Farm, way better rates and hopefully they are there when I need them. Because Horace Mann is not.

If your an educator or someone that has the possibility of getting Horace Mann as your insurance company I highly suggest it. I have been using them for the past 4 years, and we have had nothing but great experiences in all of our claim situations. We have had multiple claims as a family dealing with our roofs and vehicles. They have been great in execution, speed, and hassle free. Sheila Kersey is our agent and she is amazing!!!!! If you live in the Southwest MO area I highly recommend her and this company.

I am currently working with a claims agent on my homeowners insurance due to a leak and water flood in my home. My agent has proven to be a liar and shady. He has done all he can to not release the correct amount of funds NEEDED to repair my home. Dealing with this Horaceman claims agent has been more stressful than the flooding of my home. I have never been late with a payment and have been 100% honest throughout this process and I have been disrespected. He never answers a phone call, Every time I ve called him I ve had to leave a voicemail message and wait for a return Call. This company is proving to be the worst. Their customer service is disgusting and disgraceful to loyal customers. Horrible experience.

Poor customer service and no communication during the whole claims process.My claim adjuster was rude and disrespectful to me the only time she ever talked to me. Further, stated she would call me back never did, left voicemails. I had to call and speak to other representatives to get any information on my claim. Next, I had to find out who the person that hit me insurances was to get the ball rolling on anything. I recieved better service and more information from the insurance company from the person who was at fault than my own. Still have not received any phone calls beside the initial statement call by Horace Mann. Will be seeking another provider once my claim is over. I have never been so left in the dark by an insurance company. Worst customer service I have ever recieved.

I went from never having Renters insurance to get it after the horrible flooding that we had in Texas. I was recently robbed and then three weeks later my car was smashed in and I have absolutely no enemies enemie renters insurance to get it after the horrible flooding that we had in Texas. I was recently and then three weeks later my car was smashed in and I have absolutely no enemies. I don t know why this happens but again and I truly truly never in 35 years had this happen to you. I actually even forgot I had renters insurance service and my friend told me Melissa you have renters insurance don t forget they will be able to help you every step of the way. I explained to him that I never have ever done this before so I don t even know what to do so he said just give them a call and go through everything you have no worries you have enough on your plate. All in all they Gave me thus far 2100 I also had to fork out $500 for my deductible on top of that I had to fork out $50 for a rental car on top of that I have to go pick up my car that was 18 miles away on top of that I had to put gas in my car and the rental car, i still didnt get my laptop or the cost of my rings again material things but i worked 16 hours a day to fet these itens all by myself. Then they want me to provided receipts i dont even keep receipts and never was told that. So on top of all this i feel like im a liar! I feel like I truly lost out. I know how companies work and I know that the $267 that you guys paid on top of with my 500 that I had to pay is truly absolutely insane. I truly believe that this should ve been changed to a glass claim since that s literally all they did. I feel that if you have a Company that works with you they would say listen this is not an auto claim but at Glass claim because they absolutely did nothing else. and I have to check maybe my deductible still would ve been 500 but if I realize that it was just about the glass most likely I would not have taken it to the insurance company I probably would ve just had someone fix it at my house for my job but I asked the lady who I spoke to regarding my car and she said that I had to make a decision but again this is the first time Ever so I never knew but I just learned a lot. The first lady tried and actuakky seened like she cared and im greatful fir thst. The scond lady seem to just want to rush and hurry but not at all sounding like she cared. I thought like you know we re over a month into it now and I m still waiting so I don t know then I find out that the stuff that was still inside my car is not covered under my auto.

I had my car window smashed and my purse taken. Horace Mann representatives were wonderful during this frustrating time. They helped me with my claim quickly and easily. I have NEVER been treated so well by any other insurance company. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND them if you are seeking insurance coverage.

Horace Mann has been so good to work with. They are efficient and caring and make you feel as good as possible about a situation that is very stressful when you have an immediate need. We recently had a water issue and had to have most of our flooring replaced. I am so glad we have been with them for about 30 years now and would recommend anyone who needs an Insurance Home to go with Horace Mann! You will be glad you did!

It took two and a half months to settle. 4 different estimates were done. Tried to low ball me. Never return my calls. I made 50 plus calls to them. I was in the dark the whole time. The wreck was bad enough, then you have to deal with Horace man. I lost 18 pounds in those 2.5 months. My word of advice of Horace Mann. Run.

My agent is always there when I have a question or need something explained. Every time I have had to file a claim on my auto insurance, they called me right away, clearly explained everything, and took care of all the details so I didn't have to worry. Very professional, respectful, and helpful. Wouldn't want to insure with anyone else!

Had hail damage loss to my house and two cars. I had three different Adjusters. Two adjusters were fine but the third would not listen to my concerns about his original estimate. Very poor customer service from adjuster named Isaac Cavallo's. I spoke with his supervisor by the name of Christy who wasn't much better. They refused to write accurate estimates that reflect pre loss damage to my vehicle. I'm considering making a complaint to Texas Department of Insurance

After being their customer for many years, it was easier to switch to another company than to get HM to fix their billing mistake that kept happening monthly. They used to be good when they had a good local agent. Their new local agent in my town will not return a phone call or an email and is incompetent. HM says they respect teacher's time and budget, but neither was true in my case.

I am leaving this company they have pretty much continually raised my rates on an older paid for car that currently I haven't been driving many places because of corona virus. I am a veteran and upon renewal of my policy it was raised again on a basic Toyota corolla. $218.03 premium per month. I will be contacting another a company and leaving Horace man. I have put a complaint in with Colorado department of insurance and nothing has came of that. Now I am paying more for insurance than I have with good credit, a good driving record than I was when I was a teenager. Yes, colorado is growing but it is also getting more people paying into the pot so don't give me that more claims business. currently I am not happy with the company and their practices. the letter i received today also says its based on miles driver but yet they have no way of verifying how much miles i have been driving because they have not sent me a device to verify that. Horace Mann beware your on the radar and I will be tell everyone that your not a fair company.

Telephone Responses regarding claim processing too slow. Need more staff. Workers are inundated with work. I have had coverage from HM for 8 years. Have only made one auto accident claim. Initially told car was worth $500 before adjuster had even seen auto. Later told auto worth $3100. Claim passed from and to representatives without smooth transition. Eventually dropped in the lap of an unsuspecting employee. She then had to review police report of the Six car accident I was involved in. This happened one month after the accident. Accidents are stressful enough and I want my insurance company to take care of me. I have been contemplating changing Insurance companies

I had insurance with them and my car battery went dead.so I was stuck on the side of the road.i called Horace Mann for roadside assistance and they tell me I don't have roadside assistance.so after my car sitting on the side of the road the highway patrol impounded it.now I have to pay over $500 that I don't have.so because Horace Mann didn't add my roadside assistance I losted my car and my job.i also send them 5 emails and no one didn't even call me.they just care for there money.the worst insurance company.never ever again will I bother with them.they ruined my life..

This company is terrible I would not suggest anyone purchasing insurance from them. I was with them for 18 years and the one time that I file a claim it was denied. BUYER BEWARE DO NOT PURCHASE INSURANCE WITH THIS COMPANY !!
