Home Avenue Review

I m wondering what happened that this service was so terrible for us and so great for others? Maybe it was the broker we were assigned- she is unresponsive, slow to make changes and she treats us like we are criminals anytime we ask anything. We put in a request to cancel our listing last week, as we now want to go through a realtor after not receiving any inquiries after listing with home avenue. Big surprise, no response yet. We ve wasted time and money using this place...it s my fault really, trying to save money.

I listed my second property with Home Avenue and had a great experience. Madeline answered all of my questions in a timely manner and was always willing to make the changes I requested. It is a great way to have thousands of dollars!

Couldn't recommend this business more! For two properties, we took our own photos, wrote own sales copy, arranged showing times we were comfortable with, and set out a For Sale sign. Very efficient and cost-saving. Staff is remarkably responsive, mostly via email messages. No hard-sell to accept additional services but nice to know that other services are available (photography, legal, etc). Takes some time to understand the standard contract "legal-ese" if you are not familiar with it, but not a deal breaker.

Super easy to set up the listing. Take your pictures and upload them to the site. Great customer support. I high recommend using Home Ave.

We worked with Home Avenue for 2 sales. From the beginning until the closing, Greg and the staff were there for us by phone and email. Greg advised us all the way - this is an outstanding service. We saved thousands of dollars; there s no reason to use percentage based realtors.

I've sold several houses on HA and would not use any other service. They rock and prices are good. Not sure why ANYONE would use a realtor?

I found selling my own home with the help of using HomeAvenue to be easy! There were a few hiccups when it first posted on the MLS but Madeline corrected immediately; one of the realtor sites had posted without using my entire description and photos. Maddie had this corrected within a day! A former neighbor, who was trying to sell their home (and couldn t) using a realtor, had an issue with that same site and it took their realtor months to get that site to correct the error....
I sold my home within a few days and I would never use a realtor again after using this service. We saved over $20,000.00. A little work to fill out all the information on their site before it posts on the MLS; I did hire a photographer and would recommend that if your selling a property that is over $300,000.00. I purchased the basic package plus the scheduling add on (worth it but I didn t know I would sell so quickly) and the sign arrived quickly-within a couple of days. I previously had hired a realtor; her commission would have been 6%. I fired her due to lack of communication and not doing her job but insisting she was. I found this experience less stressful without a realtor and you are in control. Closing was a breeze and went into closing alone, feeling very secure without representation; title companies keep you very informed regarding everything. Don t let realtors scare you about legal ramifications, that can happen with a realtor too. If worried, hire a real-estate attorney (I didn t because it was a cash transaction and very straight forward). I have some realtor friends who said I was just lucky- well so are they; it s all about waiting for the right person to see your home (our buyers bought from out of state site unseen except for the pictures and their realtor doing a video walk through. Realtors do the exact same thing- get your photos and house information (spend some time on the description of your home) on the MLS and all the subsequent real estate sites. I did offer 2.7% for the buyers realtor s commission as recommended (I went with the high end and probably didn t need to).
Other states and countries use flat fee services, very common but not so in MN. People have this impression that it is very difficult; I was in healthcare not real-estate and was totally amazed by how easy the process really is.

I recently sold my home using Home Avenues s flat rate option and I cannot say enough positive things! Easy to use! Wonderful help from staff when needed! Realtor fees cut over half and are now in my pocket. Highly recommend Home Avenue!

Sold my house within ten weeks after listing it through HomeAvenue s FSBO-Showcase service. It was a pleasure to work with HomeAvenue staff, especially Madeline, who was very prompt and resourceful in responding to my questions related to the listing.

If you are not using companies like Home Avenue, you are throwing your long earned equity in your home away to someone that does not work too hard. Once your home is on MLS, the buyers will find it and they will ask their realtor to show it to them.. You should expect to pay a buyers fee of 2% but that is a far greater deal then 5-7%. Make sure your home is in good repair, clean and free of clutter and it will sell much faster. Home Avenue may charge fees to assist in paperwork but the goal is to get the buyer in the door and a sold sign in the yard.

What an awful service, after making the choice to relocate to another state for a job offer than could not be refused we set to work on our home-selling options. We had only owned our restored victorian home in the irvine park neighborhood of St. Paul home only for two years, and we were looking a way to sell our house without handing over too much money out of pocket. We initially contacted home avenue several months before we were planning to list, this gave us time to get the home ready for showings, IE repainting a few rooms, and other minor little details. We met with Nancy Moe, and she toured the home and we explained what we wanted to list at (this number was not arbitrary, it was with the advice of 2 professional realtors, the one we used to purchase our home, and a neighbor, both having experience with the area and victorian homes) everything seemed fine and good, and she told us to get our photos done and call her when we got closer to listing. When we called her a few weeks from when we were planning to list (first red flag) she was difficult to get a hold of, dodging our calls. Then the day before we were to meet to do paperwork she emails my husband several "comps" from homes that were miles from us, NOT historically significant in any way, and nothing like our home. She suggested we consider a SHORT SALE!?!!? and told us that she didn't want to waste her time unless we would be ok with selling our home for 180k. (We had purchased our home 2 years prior for 303k) we tried getting a hold of home avenue to inquire about a different agent, and we were met with some pretty poor customer service from the owner, Greg who was downright rude. Needless to say we did NOT list with this company, instead we listed at the price we wanted to list at (325k) with a different flat fee realtor in the area... we had an offer the SAME day we listed the house, and it was a done deal within a few days. We sold for 320k... and actually walked away with a check, and didn't have to pay out.

I listed my home with Home Avenue with the minimum number of photos, no yard sign, and my own lock box - (minimal services). I had an offer in 3 days and we closed yesterday. My experience with Home Avenues could not have been better. All questions to office staff were answered in a timely manner. It was a good experience and I saved thousands. I think the house sold itself - it is a great house. Depending on how complicated the sale could be - I would use more services, but they can be added at any time. Selling your house via Home Avenue is a very easy way to save thousands of dollars. You can have them handle most of the work or do more yourself and save even more. Based on my experience if I take into account how much I saved and the effort I put into doing the extra work I earned around $500/hour. Not too bad of a gig.

I used Home Avenue to list on the MLS w/ flat fee as FSBO. A lot of realtors try to scare you into thinking that selling a house is like rocket science. Mostly, you just need to have prospective buyers see it on the MLS. Home Avenue did everything expeditiously - sent out the starting paperwork immediately, processed it within a day, and had the property listed on the MLS very quickly. They responded to all questions and emails very quickly - same day, sometimes within 1-2 hrs. Responses were always polite and helpful. Very good customer service, would definitely use them again.

Overall, I feel HA is very easy to use, very responsive service! I obtained free Home Showing Appointment Service which I believe was very helpful and simple to handle visiting appointments.
Through HA, I got the big saving for me in the final deal and I highly recommend it if you believe you want to save huge agent fee and are able to stay on top of your communication!

There is no hard sell to purchase additional services! I started with an MLS listing and that process was so helpful and Becca was so great she held an open house for me, because I had already relocated out of state that I purchased additional services at quite a fair price!

Becca negotiated my sales price and attended the closing in my stead. Moreover, she was in touch with me as much as I needed and/or wanted and made me feel as if I was her only client. Good low cost way to list on the MLS. You get all the transaction forms needed and as little or as much help as you want.

They provided an excellent service at a reasonable cost. I like the fact that their services costs are transparent and can be seen on their website. It was a wonderful experience working with the staff. They have a very professional approach and promptly got back to me for all my questions. I really appreciate their help during the process. They also helped with Earnest Money Deposit Escrow service, which also is a valuable service to FSBO clients. In short, I highly recommend Home Avenue's services.

Good way to sell a home on your own. Really wasn't all that difficult. Definitely not worth paying a realtor 3% when you can use this method for about 1/30th that cost.

Your house will sell for what it is worth, and not more (because it won't appraise for above value for lender) so don't believe lying realtors who will promise to get you more. (And I actually sold for much more than realtors told me they could get!) Sell yourself, use google, and spend your money on fresh paint and staging! Using Home Avenue was super easy, and I think I saved time dealing with them myself and not dealing with a middle man realtor.

This was the first time using this kind of setup. I have always used a realtor to sell my house. I must say I am very happy with this company and the selling of my house. The company was very helpful answering my questions on the selling paperwork. They are not always available or easy to get ahold of, but overall it all went well for me. I will probably never use a realtor to sell my house again. The savings of 4% of my sale price more then paid for any trouble I had to deal with when selling.

After taking the advice of a friend, we decided to sell our house without a realtor. We were referred to HomeAvenue because it includes an MLS listing. The $995 fee included the listing, pictures, handouts, and a personalized write up on the property. I would STRONGLY recommend purchasing the realtor representation. It is an easy and affordable way for you to be represented during the selling process. It is a seller's market right now -- and your house is going to sell quickly. The first couple that walked through our house put in a full price offer. Having representation means a buyer's realtor is not going to take advantage of you for listing it yourself (which we experienced). We highly recommend Home Avenue -- it saved us thousands of dollars!!!

Saved a ton on the broker fees with sale of my home using this service. They were great to work with and did all the paperwork for me. They did an evaluation to let me know the price to list at.
