We watched The Hateful Eight here in glorious Ultra Panavision 70mm. It was AMAZING! The superior quality of 70mm film is apparent. The atmosphere of the theater makes it an engaging movie going experience. Like a giant living room full of friends and family.

Buy tickets online and don't get there to a sold out show.

I never wanted to go here for some reason. When we went, I had the best time. The manager we chatted with was more then friendly. He told us all about the different membership packages we could get!

Absolutely go to B-movie Bingo. You will regret not going. Its an amazing amount of fun. But be warned: it is interacive. Stay away if your an old curmudgeon who doesnt like people talking during a movie.

Very cool piece of Portland history with ample updated seating and sound system. A great place to see the latest Hollywood dreck or something out of the box. No matter what your style, you won't be disappointed.

My absolute favorite theater, the Hollywood, has a unique decor, mixed with an eclectic selection of films to satisfy any film connoisseur. The movies range from black and right classics to modern documentaries and films. They're also one of the few theatre's still showing 70mm films. Just make sure you purchase tickets ahead of time and arrive early as seats fill up quickly.

On top of that, the beer selection is pretty good and the Pie Hole, a hole in the wall to the neighboring pizza parlor, is the icing on the cake.

I can't recommend this place enough.

A good way to filter out miserable people from your life is if they have anything bad to say about this theater. You d have to be pretty ignorant to not see how much effort is being put into every facet of this establishment. I bought a membership after one show. They somehow find the best 70mm prints out there. They have a theater organ which is like nothing you ve ever heard before. Snacks and beer are great. The clientele are real movie lovers, so while you re certain to hear laughs, you re never going to deal with rude idiots because they will kick your ass out.

Beautiful old Hollywood Theater. Landmark Theater anchoring the Hollywood area of Portland. Inside is clean. Bathrooms are clean. And popcorn is not that expensive.

Theater tends to run older films and does many other types of educational programs.

It is a classic old theatre with wonderful people running the concessions. The theatre is well maintained, clean and visually beautiful. They offer non-mainstream art films and documentaries. The seats are comfortable with first class legroom.

Absolutely best nostalgic place to watch a movie in Portland! Plus best food & beverage availability, for very reasonable prices! Additionally offers membership packages that help preserve the Hollywood area history, while offering its members special discounts & access to member viewing opportunities!
And the view of exterior is even better at night, when all the lighting is on!

Wonderful neighborhood theater to support! I'd give this theater 5 stars if the sound was better, but I find that it's slightly echo-y making it somewhat hard to hear often. They re-did the theater a few years back with all new seats and I think sound system, but I still find it difficult to hear sometimes. Good movies. One problem is that folks will arrive early and save multiple seats so finding a seat is often a problem.

There's a lot of theaters in Portland that show limited-run and foreign films. This one is by far the best. The best experience I've ever had in a theater was coming here and seeing Faust played with music from a live ensemble. Highly recommended.

I cannot recommend The Hollywood Theater enough. Special events, themed showings, vintage movies, q&a events, and so much more. The inside is like stepping into a museum, and the following is knowledgable and engaged. They have drinks and food available from other vendors, and popcorn, candy, and soda available through their own concessions. Go. Really. You won't regret it.

This theater is dedicated to movie lovers. Not only is it the only theater in Portland to show 70mm screenings, but it also has a great selection of beer and other beverages. Popcorn is reasonably priced and delicious, with nutritional yeast as topping. Why would you go anywhere else?

This place rocks! They screen interesting films (sometimes in interesting formats!), serve the community, and serve great beer and pizza. It's also across the street from a nice wine bar, so you can chat about the film you just watched

Let's see... long lines and ridiculous ticket prices in big-box theaters... OR short, speedy lines, local craft beer and cider on tap, pizza, nutritional yeast for your popcorn AND supporting iconic places like this Hollywood gem?

I went here to see 2001: A Space Odyssey. There is a lot of seating in the main theatre, the screen is quite large possibly larger than most regular theatres. The prices for concessions are reasonable. To add to it, this place is ran by volunteers. Definitely going to sign up as a member.

This is just hands-down one of the best places to go and watch a movie the staff is extremely friendly they re very helpful they had a decent snack bar and the prices cannot be beat it has a cozy comfy kind of old-school atmosphere that just makes it fun to go to the movies they only have one movie playing at a time but all the good ones eventually end up there

I originally had tickets to another theater in Portland for a 3d imax movie. I returned them because I thought it might be better to try out a theater with more local/historical flair. The Hollywood theater ended up being one of the most unique film experiences I've ever had. The popcorn was perfect. I highly recommend catching something here if you are visiting Portland and have time.

If you live in or around or are just visiting Portland the Hollywood Theater is an absolute must! They frequently have very interesting movies that you simply won't see in Big Chain theaters played in a classic movie theater environment. Also the popcorn and beer are very reasonably priced! For five bucks you can get a bag of buttered popcorn that would probably cost you $20 at a chain theater!

A lovingly restored iconic theater, the Hollywood is becoming more and more popular. As a member I get a small discount and help support at the same time.Voted best movie popcorn in Portland, they have food and drink as well as movie treats. I have seen some memorable films here that were unavailable elsewhere. Hollywood also partners with The Cascade Festival of African Films in February to show at least two films free of charge.
