The public areas are nice for a historic hotel. Food was good but in the higher cost side for what you get. The room left a lot to be desired. There must be other rooms that are nicer. Our room was small and the floor was so uneven that the head of the bed was lower that the foot of the bed. No desk or work space in the room. So don't plan to use your laptop.

Hush puppies are awesome! Jessica was awesome. Marcos took the time to share a good part of the history of Boone Tavern and Berea College with us as he brought us to the table. What a beautiful place and so well staffed. Thank you so much

We were a large group of 50. Dinner was fine, service was a little slow and out of order. Loved dessert but got coffee after I was done. And creamer didn't come til 10 minutes after coffee.

Comfortable rooms, very friendly and attentive staff, and good food in the restaurant. The rooms are a little small, and the floors are a little creaky... By modern standards. But this is an historic site, and it was a great experience!

It was pretty interesting, i did hear about a boy that was hung in the basement, not sure if it was a true story but apparently ghost hunters think its haunted. I had a good time though, i was there for a murder mystery dinner though.

Our family meet here for Thanksgiving lunch. Our waiter was friendly and made sure everyone had what they needed. It was a buffet, but well done with good food. We all had a good time and enjoyed the lunch.

Terrible experience. We made a reservation for the dining room, arrived on time, and was told we would need to wait another half an hour to be seated. Watching two groups without reservations get tables before us was frustrating. We asked why we needed to wait 30 minutes, and was told it takes 20 MINUTES to clean a table. Absolutely ridiculous. The greeter was clearly overwhelmed and lacked the experience needed. Reservations do not seem to mean anything. We will think very hard before returning to this restaurant. I suggest everyone call before you drive there to be sure they can actually keep their promise of a reserved seat and time.

It is a lovely setting, but they need to up their game. We had a long wait to be served, and the food was warm, not hot, when it finally arrived. The menu needs updating from comfort food to more modern choices.

We had a great one night stay at this hotel. Everything was clean, stylish, and comfortable. It was quiet at night, which is not always the case in an older building. Good service, everyone was friendly and professional. We stayed in a junior king suite and it was spacious. Would highly recommend this hotel, I wish we stayed more than one night as there seemed to be a lot to explore.

Beautiful space.

Beautiful space.
Shoot a wedding here during the pandemic.
Staff was safe and over delivered.

Exterior was lush with floral even though they were renovating.

Outdoor eating was pretty.

Staff was kind and helpful.

Perfect for a college town but sadly it is falsely advertised as the historic Boone Tavern. Turns out it is only borrowing the name and even has in the window dba historic boone tavern. Very disappointing

Spoonbread is a must if you visit Berea and Boon Tavern offers the best in town! The hotel has great food, very friendly staff and a great historic value. If you are travelling to berea, its worth staying here or atleast having a meal at the hotel. Outside the hotel is great for photoshoots as well. It has deep ties with the college and most of the students get the chance to visit the hotel atleast once during their 4 years.

Cool place. The spoon bread was good and not what I would expect. The salad , the salad dressing and all parts of the burger were GREAT. If you're in the area or even if you're not take a trip out here.

Our stay was great! The restaurant was not as impressive. The hostess was not very attentive, waited while she took curbside orders. Slow serving staff and the menu had a scant amount of options. The stacked fried green tomatoes were very tasty though!. I ordered the filet mignon medium rare and it was cooked well done. The server tried to take 10% off a $40 plate, when all I ate was the mashed potatoes and green beans Try again. Mgr took 20% off. Don't think we will come back.

I felt a little disappointed in my visit here. It was my mistake for booking a room , which was very small, on the weekend of Mother s Day but there were also a ton of prom pictures being taken that evening and no regular breakfast service the next morning. Including the tip I paid $35.00 for a breakfast buffet that included scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, biscuits and gravy, potatoes and fruit. I hope to come back to dine in the restaurant; I ve been looking forward to it for a few years.

Nice hotel in Berea, clean, with great staff. Parking is an issue during local events. The restaurant is over priced, with a wolefully inadequate wine selection. None the less, it is a great get away stay in a charming town

Lovely hotel with an interesting dining room. The town of Berea has lots to offer. This is not only a great place for out of state visitors but it's wonderful for a quick weekend getaway. If you can't come stay at the hotel then definitely come to dine.

The Bed was the most comfortable bed EVER! It was like sleeping on a cloud. Lovely old Hotel. Didn't see any ghosts, but wanted to :) The staff was friendly, the room was quiet and the little town it's in was quite nice as well.

As the name tells you, an historic hotel. It has all of the amenities, though. The room I got is small by today's standards, but was perfect for my needs. The staff is friendly and the decor tasteful. The restaurant in the hotel is excellent. Again, tastefully done with an excellent staff and superb menu.

This hotel is located right in the heart of Berea, Kentucky, and Berea College. The rooms are beautiful, the staff exceedingly nice as well as helpful. The beds were super comfy, and the restaurant in the hotel has outstanding food. The hotel is also within walking distance of several other restaurants and cute shops.

Thia is a beautiful and well built hotel. This hotel was built to last unlike the hotels that are built today. We stayed here for a wedding which was held in the event center. The staff was friendly, room and bed was comfy, shower had great pressure and was hot. The doors and walls are a bit thin and doors tend to slam when shutting. Also, the bathtub surround in our room could use a bleach scrubbing since there were signs of mold growing in the grout. Other than that we'd definitely stay again if given the chance to visit in the future.

I love this place HOWEVER, this last experience ruined it for me.
We booked the executive suite room several months back for our special day and once we arrived we were given a normal king room. the hotel was booked so they couldn't move us to the room that we had booked and we were told it was due to the person who took the reservation marking us for a different room after I even gave him the room number for the suite (208) just to triple check that this exact thing didn't happen as we drove over 6hrs to come here for our anniversary. After going back and fourth with the front desk the best option they could give us was to switch the next night to a junior suite which was a little nicer but loud. the door under our room made a horrible noise every time someone exited the hotel. I had asked 3 times during our stay to speak with a manager and every time we were given a different excuse. "he's not here" "he is about to take a smoke break" "he will be in touch with you when he arrives" never once did we hear from him and still we haven't. I asked to speak to the gm and we were given his number so I called and left him a voicemail explaining what happened and we also didn't ever hear from him. This was super upsetting as this hotel has been a special place to us for a long time. We had the next weekend booked as well and told them to cancel that as we were sick of our stay at this point and didn't want to come back before leaving the area. well sure enough they didn't cancel the reservation and we were charged for the reservation so I had to call and go over all this with them again and they did apologize but again never could speak with the manager. My question to this hotel is who in the world runs this place. The students that work here work so hard and do everything they can to make everyone happy but this is something a manager should've handled from the beginning but instead you made us deal with is. Very upsetting and will always make me consider not coming back. I would still like an explanation for how this could've happened and why nobody ever did anything about it. Also why the manager was too busy to talk to us about this. Smoking clearly comes before customers.

I took the family here while visiting my son at college. Our server was amazing and the food was delicious. The atmosphere was very inviting. We'll definitely visit again in the future and have recommended it to several people.

Stayed here for one night and my car got broken into. The guy at the front desk said they 've got security patrolling every hour. That gives thiefs plenty of time. Other then that, it's a beautiful hotel, but I wouldn't stay here again

Hotel, was great! 5 stars for the hotel, but the restuarant I would make it about a 2 star restaurant. Overpriced to say the least, food is really not the best and your paying 25 on average a plate. For portion size and price are 1 star and service is 3 stars.

Be advised the brunch has changed dramatically and is not the same. It's half of what it used to be, only one dessert too. However, they give you a Brunch Menu now to order from and can add on the brunch buffet for an additional $6. It was a huge let down. Enjoyed this place for years and years!

Quaint, art & craft village. Interesting and relaxing experience. Town just recently allowed alcohol (was a dry county) and they allow limited service. They call the bar a "cafe" and the liquor is hidden out of sight...but if you ask for a menu, they have high quality drinks available. Once they embrace the economic advantages to broadcast availability to their tourists, the place will probably boom with more traffic and revenue. Now we know their "secret" we will visit more often for a relaxing getaway

We ate a lovely lunch for our anniversary. This antebellum mansion turned hotel and restaurant i the most accessible historical building I have ever seen. There are elevavators and ramps everywhere! Our lunch was in a dining room with white tablecloths and chandeliers! Our waiter would have broght us the moon covered in chocolate if we asked. The town and hotel are idyllic.

We were there with a tour group so this may not be the best example. They clearly were not prepared for us. They ran out of food and were slow in replenishing. We got our spoonbread long after dessert. My husband and I split dessert because I got the last piece left. Dessert and spoonbread were great. The rest of the food was just ok.

Disappointing... have been there before and thoroughly enjoyed. Not this time. Things started off OK until we asked to move 1 table over to enjoy a little more privacy and a little less "scenery" from a nearby table. Request was made discreetly and granted but our server all but disappeared after that except to drop off the check. Did we make him mad or frustrated? Throw him out of sync? Not sure but it was just 1 table over. Had he checked in, I would have told him how dry my bourbon pork chop was but he didn't. And like a dummy. I sat there and ate without complaint. Guess I'm almost as mad at myself for not saying anything as I am at them for the poor service and overcooked food. Very disappointing experience!!!

I attended Boone Tavern as a guest for a wedding happening there Saturday night. Beautiful historic hotel. We had a guest rate so the rate for us was very good. The rooms were okay, not super spacious (for the single bed rooms) but it is an old hotel so understandable. Most of the staff there are students of the nearby berea college. The porch was very nice and fun to hang out at while taking a break from the dancing. Overall, beautiful hotel.
