The most important part of our experience was that they were very accommodating of our 12 mo old baby. Thank you!!! The restaurant is adorable. Service was great and the food was simple and delicious. Iced tea was fresh. All around great meal. Loved Berea and the Boone Tavern!!!!

We dined at the restaurant and had Alex as our server. She was an absolute delight! Made our experience outstanding and memorable. Her patience with our extensive questions and genuine kindness did not go unnoticed. Thanks Alex!
Wonderful atmosphere, traditional Kentucky meals. For a more intimate experience, see if you can be seated in the bar... my wife and I enjoyed lunch, and plan on returning soon.
Beautiful historic hotel, centrally located in Berea. Rooms are a bit cramped but tasteful. I didn't like the bathroom sink faucet because it sprayed everywhere. The lobby area looks a bit like a furniture showroom, with a little bit too much going on. Didn't eat dinner there, but the menu looked delicious.
Unique and historic location with great food. The deep fried deviled eggs appetizer is so good it is sinful. Pork chops are the best I have had, highly recommend
The Boone Tavern is a very beautiful place to visit. The staff are very kind, friendly, and helpful. The outside planters of tropical plants and flowers are incredibly beautiful in the summer months. The hotel is quiet, quaint, and comfortable. My only complaint is that our room was extremely humid and was musty smelling. If you turned the air conditioning up a couple of degrees, the heat would come on, and made all of the glass in the room fog up. There is a delicious fudge/ice cream shop, coffee shop, and pizza parlor within walking distance.
Food came out before drinks. Chicken dish had strange flavor to it and was gristly. Wayyy overpriced and very disappointing. For good food go around the corner to Papaleno s.
Very neat little town and a nice Hotel. The Hotel has been well kept and is a "green" hotel. I was hoping to see a ghost but no such luck :) Our room was small but that's as to be expected. I felt safe to walk on the carpet with out shocks, hence the carpet was very clean. The hall ways had fresh lilies which was a very nice touch, as the hallway smelled wonderful.
We were part of a Kelly Tours trip. We had the Chicken in a Nest and it was superb. The spoonbread was delicious. The property was beautifully maintained. All of the people were friendly and helpful. Many in our party said we need to return and stay for a couple of days.
Stopped on a Sunday, not knowing only their brunch buffet would be available at 2+pm a limitation which wasn't advertised/shown anywhere (not online, not even on the menus on display before getting to the hostess stand!). My parents and I were on a road trip from Asheville, NC to Chicago (where I live) and I'd randomly stumbled upon pictures of the Inn & Tavern while researching/deciding route. That said: Berea was def out of our way, but I thought it would be a cool stop for a meal or a stopover (quaint, historic things are always up our alley). Sadly, all of us were rather extremely disappointed to only be made aware of the "buffet only" detail after we had already been seated and ordered coffee/tea. Price wasn't mentioned by our rather un-friendly/un-professional waitress. We'd all had breakfast, but put our all our eggs in this basket for late lunch so, alas, a bit stuck! Food was very good, I will say, no complaints there. Although coffee arrived tepid (at best). A very mild-mannered request was made for a new/hotter cup and I was honestly surprised at the waitress's reaction: rather overtly incredulous and defensive, to the point of dampening the rest of the experience, I'd say. The college and work program are honestly fascinating (and pretty amazing, TBH!). That part of the history I didn't know until we were waiting to be seated. If you're stopping by for a meal or a stay, DO Wikipedia that info! Statistics and historical significance, as well as their overall mission/values are 100% worth knowing about!
We took a group of 100 5th grade studentw to an etiquette lunch. The staff was very nice working our large crowd. I plan to take another group there every year.
My husband and I arrived on a Saturday afternoon and were looking forward to a nice meal to end our 25th anniversary trip. We were seated quickly at a nice window seat, but things went downhill fast from there. We sat for at least 5 minutes before anyone even came to our table with water and a container with butter. This person got our drink order in. Then we sat for at least 10 min Before our order for appetizers and meal was taken. The waitress then came to tell my husband that the crabcakes were no longer available, so he ordered shrimp instead. We enjoyed our appitizers but noticed no spoonbread came to our table but was served to other tables. When i asked about getting some the waitress acted surprised that we never received any. I asked for a refill of my tea which didn't arrive. The last straw was when a young girl came to tell us the bread would not be ready for quite some time. At this point we were ready to leave because we felt we were not getting the service that other tables were, so we left enough money to cover our bill (to that point). We were there for 40 to 45 min.
Check in was a breeze. We wanted to have a romantic weekend. The restaurant seemed pricey so we skipped dinner there and opted for breakfast which was fantastic. We knew that the next time we went dinner was going to be worth the money spent. The room was adorable and updated. There were even complimentary robes and slippers for the duration of your stay. All in all, This is a place we will be going back to.
We had a good meal at Boone Tavern. It was a little pricey, but not too bad. The chocolate cake was a little bit of a disappointment, it didn't come with ice cream.
This place excels at comfort food. Pork chops, mashed potatoes, cooked greens, eggplant, all yes. my experiences with more creative dishes (Thai chicken salad) have been disappointing.
Getting rid of gift shop. Turned it into a little drink cafe. Not sure what they're thinking unless its, "hey let's be like everyone else on the block."
Wonderful! The service was wonderful, the room was lovely, the hotel was beautiful and comfortable, and the restaurant was out of this world. Fantastic service and food, i strongly recommend the poached egg of Autumn. We are already planning a return visit.
My stay was awesome at the Historic Boone Tavern. The rooms were comfy, old-fashioned, and perfect for a good nights rest. I was coming from a long road trip around the southern states, and we discovered the hotel when googling for a halfway point back home to Michigan. The pricing was really cheap for what you got, and it s a really cool place that reminds me of a grand hotel, like the one we have in Michigan. Wish our stay would have been longer. But for one night it was perfect! Truly a historical gem.
What a great place! Historic town and hotel. Local college students serve. Well appointeed authentic rooms and great food. I would highly recommend this place. Book early!
Such a beautiful piece of history in a beautiful college town. I highly recommend a stop or a stay. The food was delicious, especially the deep fried devil's eggs with goat cheese and cherry jam. Elegant atmosphere, but perfect for a casual lunch and blood mary.
4 sisters met for lunch Dec 9. The service was poor and the food was inedible!! The spoon bread, which is their signature dish, was really bad. Such a dissapointment. We ordered wine which took half an hour to arrive.
We had a terrific server. Ask for Brooklyn. She noticed our food took a really long time and our hamburgers were really under done. Took it upon. Herself to speak to management and they comped us. She is a true professional.
This place is BEAUTIFUL! the staff is so professional and considerate, they go out of their way to help. Bedding is soft and cushy. The decor makes me want to stay forever. And it's right downtown next to some cool shops. There's even a cafe!
Overall a great stay! My wife and I had dinner Friday evening, and we're a bit underwhelmed by her entree (salmon, green beans, and roasted potatoes. A little too basic for the price in our opinion). I had a pork chop on rye bread pudding and turnip greens, which was excellent. The restaurant decor was somewhat sparse, given the historic branding and theming located all over the lobby. For the area and my experience, the food is the finest dining you'll find. Our server could have been more attentive- she disappeared for about 15 minutes as we were finishing up our main course. The room we stayed in was lovely. The robes and slippers are a nice touch, but felt like overkill in the smallish room. The room and bed were very nice overall
