So interesting history within these walls. The rooms are like going back in time but still contemporary comfort: free WiFi! Great food from their dining room & a quaint bar.
Beautiful historical hotel, gteat history and food. service was excellent.
I would give 0 if could this is not a tavern. It is an upscale hotel with a restaurant that serves you at a table. It opens at 5. I was looking for the historic tavern.
Lovely hotel with beautiful landscaping, formal dining room, old fashioned hotel rooms, and hospitable staff. Very clean. The deluxe breakfast could feed 2 people.
Location is very easy to get to and service is great
The staff were incredible and helpful! So much history here and historical figures shared their stays here. Looked at prices for a wedding shower and thought it was very reasonable for it being such a beautiful place!
They were very professional and the food was delicious!
Great meal, lovely ambiance, excellent service! Stuck with the old classics and was delighted. Definitely a special place.
Lovely historic Hotel and restaurant... genteel ambiance... worth a visit
Wonderful venue. Very classic and historic feel with kodern amenities. Excellent service and delicious food.
Great stay, good service, and food. Limited parking
The food was wonderful and the environment was beautiful
Wonderful service. Love the atmosphere. Love love love the spoonbread!
A must to visit. Sit on the beautiful porch or inside and admire the beauty of this historic place.
Elegant yet casual atmosphere. Friendly and professional staff. Very good food served at the hotel restaurant.. Loved this place!
Beautiful historic hotel packed with history, exudes charm and class. Lovely.
Very scenic town. The hotel is architecturally and historically very interesting. Room was decent but unimpressive. They allow dogs, which is nice for dog owners but unsanitary to everyone else.
Closes between lunch and dinner. Lobby and dining room very authentic and well decorated for the era. Picture moments. Outside and inside!. Beautiful grounds.
Historic location. Nice staff. Great dessert! Had a great variety of loose leaf teas
Seems to have slipped since our last visit. Service was great, but we offered spoonbread just once, the fried green tomato chunks, ( yes..CHUNKS, not slices), were tasteless, and shrimp and sucked.
My wife enjoyed her portabella mushroom, and I wish I'd have had that instead.
I found the whole affair over priced for what I had.
Beautiful venue with delicious food and great historical tidbits of information
Beautiful delicious food. Especially the fried green tomatoes and deep fried deviled eggs.
The hotel is really nice. Our room was spacious and very well designed and furnished. We loved the old feel and modern touches combined. The staff were all friendly and attentive. Our dinner was fabulous with excellent service from John. John was very sincere, friendly, knowledgable and attentive.
Even though it was a short visit, I had a wondeful time and took many pictures of the historic building. It stands out the most when you go into Berea
Very interesting town. Very historical.expensive, southern charm and food.
The food is very good. Prices are very fair for the quality of food and the presentation is impeccable.
This was a fantastic place to stay during our visit the Berea College. They just happened to have a cancellation so we were able to get a room at the last minute.
The greeter was warm, friendly and knowledgeable. I enjoyed a nice conversation with him about the business' history, which is reason enough to return. The food was good, the employees friendly. The service was a little slow (though it reminded me of a lazy day in the hot sun with southern hospitality.......a nice place to be where you can enjoy the moments, conversation and have a tasty meal with good company.) It was refreshing to slowdown, relax and enjoy the experience. I would definitely go again!!
It's very upstanding in manner and historically beautiful.
Friendly staff, nice rooms, very comfy place. Had breakfast at the restaurant with the vouchers and it was well worth it! I like that it is a green/efficient hotel while still being nicer than most. Only things I didn't like are the fridge has no adjustment to be turned down so it doesn't freeze things, as well as the lack of clothes iron and board. I was hoping it would have one. Overall, still a very pleasant stay while visiting Berea.
The right mix of historic and modern. Great food in the restaurant, comfortable bed, and relaxing jet tub.
Everyone goes on & on about how great this place is. I think it s just ok. Spoon bread is yuck! Some ppl really love it though. It s worth going at least once to see what you think yourself!
Excellent food. Try the Porkchops the Tricky Way with the Fried tomato stack.
A historic place. Food is good. There are stories about the inn, which is part of the Tavern, that it is haunted. Don't know myself since I haven't stayed there. Maybe it will add some excitement to some. Those who are interested can read up on the tales after some research.
Hope this was helpful. If so, please send a like.
Southern cuisine in a semi-formal setting with excellent service and spoon bread! What more could you ask for?!
Just need to get Diet Mountain Dew as a drink option, then it would be worth 5 1/2 stars!
Atmosphere was good, service was excellent. Food taste was ok but I expected a little better. This was my first brunch there no sure I'll try it again.
Stopped by for lunch... place is almost deserted ...at 12:30 ...one other couple in the large dining area...the young lady left us at a table with a menu and I emphasize "left us" we never saw her again ...the menu was so limited ...we got up and left
Really do not think that you could find southern food as good as this.
Great place to stay! The management team is friendly and the room was excellent for such a low price. Make sure you stop into the Tavern while you're there. The food is expensive but boy is it worth it!
Dr. Thimm, our science department chair, presented a research paper at Berea college. This historic hotel is part of Berea college. Enjoyed Cajun food at one of the Boone Tavern restaurants. Good service and great attitudes! Scenic. Also enjoyed fossil collecting nearby.
Nice rooms, cool building, good restaurant. There's no bar (tavern) on the premises. They do serve drinks out of the restaurant however.
Amazing place! So beautiful, great food, warm atmosphere!
We went to the Thanksgiving buffet yesterday and had a bad experience. We walked through the main buffet that looked great and were seated in another building. With a buffet that was, smaller, dried up and to be nice, not good. Price was the same. We could have gone to Cracker Barrel for a lot less.
..
Wonderful inexpensive food from the "Cafe". Dinners clearly hand made, not just heated out of a box.
Great experience, courteous staff, and awesome restaurant
Best well kept secret , love the place and the atmosphere. The beds were so comfortable
Great buffet for Easter Sunday. Very pleasant staff and wonderful service
This is our second time staying at the Boone Tavern Hotel in Berea KY. It is very comfortable and charming. The hotel and restaurant staff are friendly. They make to stay great! The rooms are clean and comfortable. It is a must place to stay.
We went for Christmas Eve Brunch. Everything was too sweet except for salad & mashed potatoes. Cranberries way overdone.
Well maintained & comfortable rooms. Staff are all beyond perfect and truly proud and happy to be part of this Tru American jem. This is A LEED gold certified green hotel. Students from Berea College work as service here. All proceeds over operation costs go to support the mission of the college, to provide tuition free education to financially needy students primarily from the Appalachians. The beautiful campus is across the street and actually all around the hotel. The restaurant is very good. You must have the spoon bread. The entire town is beautiful with an abundance of local and student artistsand craftsmans. Right at the corner of the hotel is Warren May, master mountain Dulcimer maker. Visit his shop and chat with him.
It was solid place. I feel like I ordered the wrong thing- the steak from the steak and eggs was WAY overcooked. Seems like the chicken flakes was probably the right choice.
Restaurant was nice, food and service was good. The spoon bread is incredible!
I went with two family members for dinner at the restaurant. Our reservation was at 6 pm. After a bit of confusion, we were seated. Our server was Eric and he was friendly and efficient. We enjoyed a pre dinner Martini and the cocktails were delicious. The bartender mixed our drinks perfectly. Next was a serving of spoonbread, which is the long time specialty of the restaurant. It was also fantastic and better than I remember! Dinner was wonderful. Striped bass for two of us and a hot brown for the third person. The server didn't batt an eye at a requested menu change for one of the members of our party. After a second helping of spoon bread, we were too full for dessert. But the entire experience was a total success and we will look forward to our next visit to Boone Tavern!
A very impressive historic hotel. The rooms were quaint, lovely, clean, and well maintained. The front desk and restaurant staff were friendly and welcoming. I only had breakfast at the restaurant, but I had breakfast two mornings of my two night stay because the restaurant was that good.
Nothing tavern about this place. The only Daniel Boon about it was a card board picture
A great place to visit and rest has a really great restaurant
Great! Elegant, very clean, professional and friendly staff. Berea, KY is an elegant, fabulous, friendly and beautiful town. Beautiful college with views, and many artistic offerings.
A historic hotel and restaurant run by Berea College. A definite place to visit.
We held our annual retreat at Boone Tavern again this year. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. Andrew at the front desk is a delight, and Aaron with events and catering is awesome and attentive to our every need.
Room #320 is roomy and has a very large bathroom with a jacuzzi tub and a separate WC. As far as I know this is the only room with this configuration. Beware, though, that some of the rooms are very small.
They even created a vegan menu for us that was diverse and tasty.
Their event space is beautiful, new, and has state of the art equipment.
I would have given 5 stars but even though they just replaced all their mattresses, they're still too soft for my tastes. Also, while the food is good, it's a little pricey, IMO.
Overall, Boone Tavern is a charming old hotel with modern amenities. I've never stayed anywhere else in Berea (and I don't intend to).
