Overcrowded, not friendly at all. Service takes forever.
Event appeared to run smoothly with support from the hotel. The food provided was pretty good so for a large event I can't complain
Dated rooms, hotel leaking water everywhere, most of the lifts were out of order. No idea of food allergies. That said the man who helped me with my bags was a gem as were the cleaning staff. Bar was over priced and staff rude. I was refused service of a soft drink and offered beer (I don t drink alcohol and was appalled).
The car park is my biggest issue; it s absolutely not secure which is mad for supposly nice hotel. No security patrolling it and a car was stolen for the second year running at an event. My wheels were stolen last year too! They literally have a store of barriers to put back up once someone has driven through with your car, they probably won t tell you either. Not taking my car again and quite frankly would give this hotel a wide birth.
Everything was great until we found out that the room did not have a minibar
Lovely hotel with friendly staff, went there for the annual base competition and was not disappointed. Great facilities and in a great location
Convenient location for a night out or business in Birmingham
Pho in the restaurant is very nice, hotel is beautiful, maybe chair could be replaced as the leather was ripped all over
It was a little dated I know its a huge building and all but a little clean up gjx thewalls would be great and install more lifts
Stayed overnight. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Was given a twin room and the bed was as wide as me. Not very comfy. The room was generally clean but the toilet was not flushing properly as a previous customers deposit was visible at the bottom. Room was nice and warm especially as it was 0 degrees outside. Low score is for the inconsiderate customers who decided to shout and scream in the hallway at 2am and also bang all the doors. Then decided they would watch tv very loud. Did not get much sleep. Got woken up again at 4.30am by more banging. Walls are super thin so you can also hear the room next door flushing and making various sounds whilst on the toilet.
Rooms a bit dated but real y set up for conferences. Sloippy walking
I stayed here because of its brand however it disappointed me. It definitely needs maintenance and improving its management. First, the chair arm was found broken in my room. Second, there was someone singing and shouting on the corridor at midnight which disturbed everyone on the same floor. Third and the most unbelievable one is that there was someone first knocking on my door in the morning (before 9am) without declaring who or what it was. I ignored it to thinking maybe it s someone at the wrong door. But the one who knocked inserted the key and opened my door trying to get in. Luckily I did locked the door so the enter was not succeeded. Again, it was someone without declaring whether it s housekeeping or not. Even it was housekeeping, it shouldn t be carried out in such an early morning. (The checkout time is 12pm). Moreover, there was another knock on the door again half an hour later. I asked who it was and no one answered.
Very unpleasant and disappointing experience. It does not worth the money at all.
Not as good as it should be had a better stay at London Gatwick Premier Inn by far.
Small rooms. No toilet door. Bit cosy for two people sharing but clear enough, comfy bed and decent shower. No reason to complain!
Staff at this hotel really can't help you enough. Great location and wonderful pool.
Awesome hotel and it has an underground tunnel to the near mall.
The room was clean and vomfortable. But the staff could be more friendly
Lovely place to stay , was on a work conference , room very clean tho no door on bathroom ...
Good hotel nice and clean, good facility's, could do with the bar being a bit cheaper at cfz19 and more coffee and milk in the rooms. But otherwise amazing place.
Rooms are quite small and dated, food and drinks are expensive but the staff are nice and helpful and the pool is nice.
This is a huge hotel with ample parking facilities. Staff cope well under pressure as the hotel is busy everyday due to its location.
Helpful staff, good rooms out of the way if you want to visit central Birmingham but ideal for nec and resort world
Friendly staff price of the were a bit steep but I was expecting it
The guest rooms (cheaper option) were as expected smaller and less fancy, but what I didn't expect was to have a broker pice of headboard by my bed and a towel ring loosely hanging from a single pin ready to fall of. Other than these issues the staff were all welcoming and friendly. The conference was run smoothly and the catering, especially lunch, was great.
It was a pleasant enough stay but fell below what I would expect from a Hilton. Some staff were at times a bit rude and did not have all the information they needed. For instance we asked if there was a courtesy car to the train station (Which there is) and we were told we would need to book a taxi when it is clear from the other desk there is one. The room was OK but the air conditioning was broken, there were no fans, so this must have been hotel wide. The room had a socket hanging off the wall hidden behind a unit with wiring hanging out and our hotel supplied iron blew the electrics in the room. So it felt quite tired in truth. There were some good points as some staff were very helpful and friendly, the cleaners did a very good job and the location was good. However if I had a choice I would definitely look into other accommodation again before booking as there seemed to be lots of better value and more modern choices in the area.
Room was spacious and comfortable. Had to pull a bedside cabinet out to get a plug near the bed though. Breakfast was good.
Very good hotel smart rooms friendly staff food excellent.
Stayed the 22nd sept to 24th 3017 attending the EGX 2017 at NEC . Overall they deserve 5 stars , I will do the bad news first we ordered a delux twin 4082 this weekend and I felt the beds were tiny not convinced they were a full sized single bed. I have spina spifda and 5ft 5 and felt like I was going to fall out and my feet where hanging at the end of the bed, but my son said he was fine, so I thought it was just me then.
The pool is lovely and family friendly which is a big plus. Any kids swimming were well behaved.
The staff in this hotel at all levels are really friendly and it is a big hotel.
However a special mention has to go to the waiters and waitresses in Millars now primavera I think . They were outstanding, mannerarly and so friendly and they were the reason I eat two evenings in a row.
I know managers have to run a tight ship but please never change the way these guys take special care and give you that time. It created a wonderful experience.
All in all thank you we had a great weekend and would be back.
I've stayed here a few times. The main purpose of this place has been convenience to the NEC and it gets 5 stars for that. If you love 1980's decor, you'd give it 5 stars for that as well :) This hotel is a bit dated although it's in the process of having rooms updated. It's potluck what type of room you get - but at the moment, avoid the suites, they are very outdated. Other negative points include the dining. We managed to dine once at Millers and it was quite good. All other times it has been closed and the dining was poor. Also, check if functions are on and what floor you are on. Otherwise you might be included in some kind of all night disco, like we were (we ended up getting moved). I should add that I found the staff to be friendly and professional though. Overall, if location is paramount, then this is a good choice, but it's expensive for the standard.
Easy too park, staff were friendly and the rooms were comfortable, clean and tidy
Very bad service! Asked for 2 chilled bottles of water an hour ago and haven't received it yet... Bad hospitality and rooms are old and neglected. Terrible experience.... Never again...
I am Hilton Honors customer. This is the first time I was disappointed with my room. In general the hotel seems to good. Checking in was quick and efficient. But once I arrived into my room 204, overlooking the car park.
The view was not a problem as I was only there for one night. But the fact that there was no door between the toilet and the bedroom that shocked me. Not to mention that whilst one is on the toilet or brush their teeth you can hear people walking at the corridor. I did mention about my concern to the reception but was told these rooms are newly refurbished and as it is a single room all the toilets don't have doors
Having said that the breakfast was good with ample choice. The location is excellent, only 5 minutes to NEC and very close to the train stations.
The rooms are dated. The WiFi is massively over priced and the parking is over priced, not free as in their description. The TV was outdated and knackered. Not great when you haven t got wifi because of the ridiculous charge.
On the good side the bar had a good atmosphere and the food was alright. The room was clean and the bathroom was fine, fairly up to date.
Enjoyed my stays here, stayed over a convention. Friendly staff, good, although slightly expensive food, and nice rooms. The pool and spa are also very nice. Lovely lake view from the rooms, too.
I stayed at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole in October 2018 as i was going to the DSTE at NEC , this hotel is only a few mins walk to NEC, staff are really friendly and my stay was amazing, i even got a floor map as i kept getting lost lol, food was amazing too, i shall be back in october for the DSTE and have booked my room already
Thank you to all staff at this hotel
Third time here for company conferences. The rooms are comfortable and spacious. The staff are helpful, and every meal we have had has been excellent which is not easy when you are feeding over 400 people at once.
Very well looked after hotel. Conveniently situated close to the NEC, Resorts World and Airport
Good location for the NEC - but very expensive. Room was clean, but the bed not comfortable. WiFi was patchy and slow not good for an international business hotel.
Resturant soulless and whilst the menu was well written the food was average and overcooked and not worth the price. Go to Resort World much better and worth the short walk.
Check in was painfully slow and was told that breakfast was not included - so had to have something to eat at the NEC. At checkout breakfast was on the bill so not happy. Eventually got the money back - but very annoying. Need to watch them like a hawk next time.
Nice place friendly and a nice rooms and a all you can eat breakfast
The hotel is a bit old, but the service was 21st century
Amazing experience. All the staff are very helpful and the greeting is very polite and welcoming
Of all the Hilton's i have stayed in the past this one has the smallest of the rooms. out of the three lifts only one operates but the staff were great and friendly and for that reason i give a 3
Dated rooms, decor and amenities. It suffers from missing bits of skirting, some dirty hall ways and some places are in need of paint or wall paper. When we stayed it had 3 lifts out of order, which was ok for us on the 1st floor but if I was any higher up I d be annoyed. Offers lots of services but wouldn t say they are 5* in quality. Our room had no window and was a bit small for a twin room. Breakfast was good enough and staff friendly though. The spa and swimming pool are a decent addition
Very clean and smart hotel. Rooms are comfortable and modern. Check-in can get very busy at times if a load of people attending events at the NEC all come out at the same time, but plenty of desk staff seem to sort everyone out very quickly and efficiently. Breakfast offerings were reasonable, although not much vegetarian option readily available unless you ask and wait.
Room service was very quick - took less than 2 minutes for them to arrived. As a party venue it was great - lots of space and decent food. Rooms are small and beds move when you sit on them or lean on them which is very inconvenient. They are generally clean but nothing outstanding
Good hotel, use it a lot but the internet service here has become truly awful. We are considering not using it again for this reason
Lovely size room noisy doors which disturbed sleep.
Great staff and efficient transfer to the airport.
This is a very big, somewhat dated and because of its proximity to the NEC and the airport slightly expensive location. I was not overly impressed by it and only because I was at a conference at the hotel I stayed there. I won't be staying there in the future.
2 lifts out of 3 in one lobby not working and had been broken since the Tuesday this is now Saturday!!! Also my room key refused to work and it was not until the third trip to reception that they cut a new one. The vending machine was also out of order.
Staff where lovely but rooms a bit tired as where the dining room. Could not fault staff.
It's great for conferences, but the standard rooms need updating and the mattresses are like concrete blocks
I Went for attending a 3 day conference. Despite clear communication, I was offered a twin bed room instead of a double bed. The replacements offered were a room with no door on toilet and bed next to wall and another room next to a elevator. The intervention of a manager resulted in allocation of a double bed room. Best bit- the room was above the garbage collection point so emptying of industrial bins ensured I was up at 500 am every morning without an alarm. The heating in the room was broken so I had to call someone to fix it.
Two of the three elevators were broken but the concierge very kindly pointed me to the stairs which I used for all three days.
Lovely hotel, close to the NEC with good value for money as well. Used this hotel for a number of years and would happily use again.
Looks very run down from the outside. Roof inside the main reception was leaking causing 1 person to badly fall and myself slip and almost fall. Breakfast was basic, kinda soggy from how everything is stored. Staff seem to have no idea of serving from the bar if there is more than 3 people waiting for drinks, me and my friend waited up to 25 minutes at times when there was less than 10 people waiting. Keep an eye on your change as well, they have a tendancy to forget that it seems. Rooms seem a bit luck of the draw, the only problem with mine is the air conditioning seemed to keep turning itself back on and the TV channels didn't seem to work properly. My friends on the other hand was worse, shower door wouldn't shut properly causing water to go all over the floor and the window was broken so badly it wouldn't shut properly making an autumn stay very uncomfortable.
Wouldn't stay again.
Been for an "interview" was made to pay parking at a Birmingham airport rate!!
The name suggests that it will be an elegant and great hotel? Not at all, this hotel still looks dated and needs a fresh look as it reminds me of a very old worn down place, staff are friendly but that's expected but not value for money
Great large conference hotel. Lots of bedrooms, decent event space, near motorway network, train station and airport.
Main building is looking a bit old and tired and I d suggest need a lot of money spending on it.
Can cater for large events well, however not someone here I d go for a nice meal.
Room 2053 - Queen ACCESSIBLE Deluxe
Room backed RIGHT onto not one but 3 elevators. The MAIN elevators.
Additionally the room was full of at least 15 to 20 tiny moths swarming around. But no windows were open. Additionally wallpaper was past it's best and peeling in places
Tried to settle in for the night but we couldn't cope with the constant lift noises. Extremely loud. Got switched rooms at 11pm. Credit where credit is due, the staff quickly and without debate switched us to another accessible room (4049) which whilst slightly smaller was in much better condition and more importantly quiet.
Double bed was extremely hard for our liking. I'd give it a Very Firm rating.
Bathroom was not very stylish or "nice" looking but perfectly served it's purpose with it's chair accessible layout, grab bars and shower seat. Some non-weightbearers however may struggle to successfully transfer to and from their wheelchair and the toilet / shower seat.
PROS:
-------------
- Room 4049 had a beautiful view out over the lake towards the Resort's World building.
- Wide range of options for Breakfast.
- Ability to pay for extended parking beyond your checkout time.
- Reasonably generous room sizes.
- In room safe.
- ALL of the bar area is fully accessible by way of a gently sloping ramp.
CONS:
--------------
- Rooms ending *053 on each floor is very noisy due to location next to lift shafts.
- No fridge which is disappointing in this day and age.
- Located a little further from the NEC entrance but within a 10 minute walk.
- Complementary WIFI (for Hilton Honors members) too weak to maintain any connection to the internet.
- TV in room very basic. Leading competitors at this site have Smart TVs as standard with ability to sign in to your own Netflix account.
In summary I would choose The Genting hotel over The Hilton Metrepole with prizes being similar depending on what events are happening at the NEC at the time. However would stay again at The Hilton if there was a large price saving to be made.
Great hotel for conferences and great staff ! the Bar is a little expensive but then again its the HILTON and its pure quality food and drink ! deffo the Austin Martin of Hotels ! :-D
