Really good hotel, and the views are excellent. Staff friendly and knowledgeable
The public areas were beautiful and well-maintained, and the breakfast was very good. However, my room was really shabby and the door wouldn't lock properly. You had to jiggle the handle in a weird way to get it to lock. I was under the impression that free internet was included, but to get internet in your room, you have to pay more than $10 a day. They do give you a code that allows you to use free wi-fi in the lobby or breakfast room. That was disappointing. If I come back to Brighton, I'll stay somewhere else.
it was really bad the, AC doesn't work and the room wasn't what we expected. the bed was supposed to be king size but we ended up with a queen size one which isnt what we paid for.
Overpriced and under-equipped / maintained. More attention to detail and staff training needed. Appears understaffed.
On arrival at Reception, we were met by a young man who appeared to be a bit flustered. When I asked if the room was ready, he didn't know but went off to ask. He returned a few minutes later and said that he would give me a telephone number to ring to ascertain "whether the room would be ready at 4 p.m. because he couldn't be sure - it was then about 3.45!" I made it clear that I expected the room to be ready at the advertised time but he lamely responded that the previous occupants had not checked out at the required time of 11 am - five hours previously ! He didn't seem to think that this response is at all unreasonable, nor did he even offer a complementary drink of water while we waited as would happen in most of the other hotels of this standard we visit.
We waited seated on the terrace bar and ordered a soda water and small beer. A cheerful young lady brought our drinks but I handed mine back to her saying that the remnants of lipstick on the beer glass was not my shade. Rather than an apology, the waitress laughed it off (rather than being appalled at having missed this basic error before serving the drinks). She returned with a clean glass and said that the barman offered his apologies. I handed my wife's glass to her and asked if the barman would like to apologise also for mistakenly providing a lemonade rather than soda. Again the waitress made light of this. Conclusion ? - the bar staff need to be given extra instruction in how to deal with mistakes. The need to pay attention to detail - the barman and waitress both missing a dirty glass is inexcusable in a hotel of this purported standard. Again, the average hotel would have offered to make these drinks complementary in compensating for the error instead of airy dismissal.
The room itself was a very good size as was the bed. The pillows are very small and 'thin'. No fridge and the air conditioning was as much use as a chocolate teapot. I reported the lack of cooling which is widely reported elsewhere - no further feedback received
In several places previous fixtures had been replaced but remnants of the original fittings remain redundantly in place. The extraction vent in the bathroom does not appear to be effective being unable to support a tissue as the updraft appears to be absent. The wall paper on the corner to the entrance to the bathroom has been damaged. This would take a few seconds to put right. The veneer on the wardrobe door is also chipped and needs repair. The door from the terrace into the bar is warped and jamming. It is difficult to access the bar itself.
So much for the bad, on the good side, the kitchen staff prepared a small plate of sweetmeats on a plate with "Happy Anniversary" piped in chocolate - a nice touch.
Apart from that, our overall experience took the shine off our anniversary stay; we will not be going back.
Lovely rooms and excellent service. Right on the seafront and close to the town centre
We had a couple of problems that were resolved, but still slightly dated and I don't think we would return unfortunately
Great Hotel top quality food and service. Room very confatuble with air conditioning.
My fav Hotel so fab! The staff will tend to every need and made my partners bday so special!
Very disappointed with this hotel. The room we were in was very basic. No biscuits offered with the tea tray. The door would not lock so it was insecure. No fan in the bathroom. No restaurant we had to eat in the bar. The beautiful restaurant is only kept for breakfast. This is not good enough for a 4 star hotel and for the price we paid.
Organized clean not expensive exceptional breakfast
Mediocre Hotel for the price. Rooms are generally dated and vary greatly in their quality.
Whilst the room I had could have done with a redo I can not fault the cleanliness, the friendly, happy and helpful staff and the overall pleasurable stay I experienced. Thank you.
Very friendly staff...room large, but could do with some TLC
Great hotel. Good value, nice stuff. Great atmosphere for events, with an amazing location
Very unhelpful staff. I tried to book at reception to be told I had to call reservations as she was too busy.
I decided to ignore all the negative feedback about, no air conditioning and rude staff and booked at the Hilton for my family. Thank goodness I did l. I booked two rooms on the sixth floor. One had air con and the other one didn t. Both rooms were fantastic. The windows open just enough for a nice flow of air. It was 35degrees on one of the nights I stayed. Not much any hotel can do about that. Either way, the staff was excellent. I ve already stayed at the Grand and now love them both. From check in to departure all was wonderful.
I booked a meal at the hotel restaurant and again, faultless and the food was amazing. The break was worth every penny, Easy access to all areas for shopping, sightseeing and pier fun fair.
Cheers to you all who run the hotel and I will be returning without hesitation.
Best Wishes, Robert, wife and daughter.
Lovely, clean hotel in the perfect location. Amazing breakfast, quality bar and quick check-in. Our suite was large, clean and had an amazing balcony view of the sea. Great value, amazing breakfast and fabulous pool. We would definitely come back!
Lovely position; nice, smiling and helpful staff. We had a spacious, calm and lovely room from which you can see the sea. Great breakfast with a lot of different choises and curious things like the pancake printer. You can book an afternoon tea (and it is fabulous) and there is a spa and a gym
Hotel OK but in serous need of maintenance and refurbishment
Good staff and service. Great place apart from lack of air-conditioning
I love Hilton hotels but was really let down this time, firstly we requested a room to change in, as early check in was unavailable and we were attending a wedding. We were told on the day no rooms were available and had to get ready in a dirty meeting room. Then we didn't get a cot bed for our infant till 9pm.(2hrs after our sons bed time) despite requesting at booking. And finally the Air conditioning in our room was so bad we couldn't stay in the room and had to drive home at nearly 1am. The only positive was the understanding and apologetic staff.
Lovely building with great views of promonarde and sea .not far from town center
Great staff, nice food but rooms are nicer elsewhere. I could hear every noise outside my room. Not great.
Good service after a slow start. Lovely foid and staff.
Overpriced for what you get vodka is vodka, staff are lovely though.
Nice rooms, location is far away enough from the city centre that it doesn't feel busy - but you're across the road from the water and really close to the British Airways 360.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Made to feel very welcome and staff were wonderful.
Great location and gym, spa is fab but hotel needs a spruce up!
A hotel in a need of a face lift. Staff is friendly and service minded.
Very few people observing the face mask policy. Booked suite, big bit very bland and not welcoming. Disappointed.
Lovely room, very executive. Comfy bed. Only issue was price of the bar. For how much you pay for the room the restaraunt and breakfast should be cheaper. Very exspensive.
Did not like it one bit it does not feel like hilton its very old and not luxury dont get or see the price you pay for didnt like it one bit.
Booked for 2 nights and kicked out after 1.... Very Very unhappy, terrible planning and organisation DONT NOT STAY
Great hotel and fab staff...Great plan a e for venues. So so helpfull...
Very tired, dated, noisy and dirty. First room had remnents of previous guest, second room given had double connecting rooms either side and you could hear everything. We didn't stay the 2nd night.
Has always been a favourite hotel in my local area. Moved away some years ago and visiting friends who I invited to join me for breakfast. What a generous selection of choices. Place feels like home.
Lovely and clean accommodating Staff pleasant surrounding would stay over and over excellent Breakfast
Attended Cinderella panto, massive building, indoor dodgems were fun.
Polite staff. Didn't experience much more (due to my event there)
The building is really impressive and the location is incredible. The room that I've got was alright but not as great as it should be on a hotel of this category.
Lovely old victorian hotel. Great service. Lovely pool, sauna and steam room. Nice size room. Good location. Nice buffet breakfast.
It gets too hot in the rooms at night even with window open.
Great location for the beach with great views. The rooms have recently been refurbished to a high standard.
Despite a few lamps not working and the tv interface being very old fashioned, and the windows letting in cold air through failed seals; there was luckily a heater and enough entertainment to make it a great stay.
The concierge service is great and very helpful.
Good hotel and services. Disappointed that the parking was not subsidised for guests.
TERRIBLE SERVICE , ALL FOR SHOW. VERY DIRTY & UNHYGIENIC NOT A 4 STAR!
stayed at many hiltons in my lifetime but never had to experience one as bad as this!
Manager Ashley part of the bar seemed to think that the ''make it right' cards to solve problems.
which also came off as very stuck up and fake,
as I also overheard the manager bad mouthing her staff and her customers right beside my table.
The food like the pizza (which came late) from the bar had little pieces of white plastic on it.
I also noticed the constant flys coming out of the kitchens.
on top of all this theres a horrible smell coming from the bar too , which I dont know if this is some sort of pipe problem or not , but smell was discusting and definitely not hygienic at all.
not worth the stay , or the money.
Utterly appalled!
Nice hotell with clean rooms. Good location in Brighton. Good breakfast!
the restruant needs help the food was not great at all. The wings were not flavoured. Nothing tastes fresh it was just horrible.
Stayed in a family room late November 2014 for one Saturday night. Corporate event.
The pros: The staff are very helpful and attentive. The evening food was excellent thought I understand the vegetarian option was lacking in quantity. There is 24 hour underground parking at a reasonable rate for Brighton. Breakfast buffet is served until 11am with 12 noon checkout.
Breakfast was buffet style, with plenty of seating and excellent quality of food on offer.
Rooms very stuffy, even with windows slightly open (security feature). Our floor (5th) was quiet but many people close to ground level complain of noise from air-con / ventilation fans running outside 24/7.
I understand that the hotel will be upgrading over 170 rooms during 2015, so hopefully if I return I can rate again at 5 stars.
The service and response times was excellent. Beautifully historic hotel with a great seafront location and really attentive staff.
Upper class. Room was very small but clean. Intercontinental breakfast. Very well. In the evening buffet.
Afternoon tea good service plenty to eat loads of tea missed proper cake.
I hovered over three stars for my visit here.
Don't get me wrong it's a decent hotel. The beds are comfy room size is a bit on the small side. Mine was nearly all bed.
Excellent breakfast here though and staff were friendly and attentive.
The reason I considered a low score is due to the fact there was no air con in the rooms and the small fan provided made little difference in the current UK heat.
Had a really good time at a work Christmas party. The venue was lovely, the door staff were amazing, only downside was the amount of stairs we had to climb in heels, haha.
Attended a business conference and stayed overnight. Service was excellent throughout my stay, and the room was very well appointed. My company paid a lot for the event, and it showed. Money well spent
Fine place but food wasn't that great for Christmas party
Had staff x ma's party there good food and good time
Lovely building, gloriously luxurious suites, delicious breakfast.
Old run down. Stains on ceilings in room. Curtain fell off rails when pulled to close them. Complained but no one came to sort it. Very poor standards not the Hilton i remember. Vagrant sleeping in lounge area. Staff spent 30 minutes trying to remove him. Wheeled him out eventually in wheelchair. Terrible experience.
Double charged only refunded after complained via twitter
Standard expensive hotel. Nice location. Could have done to have had a warmer room.
Excellent hotel. Service second to none. Hotel room wasn't what I would expect from a Hilton. Shame. Also a nightmare to park the car.
Great room, fire alarm at 3am was not fun but I guess no fault of the hotel. All you can eat breakfast with good selection :)
Only used this hotel for drinks while at a conference. Staff were helpful, fast and friendly.
I only visited the Bar.
Drink prices were admittedly inflated but no unreasonable. Everything is well presented and clean, and the staff were very friendly and courteous.
This was a perfect venue for a catch up with a friend.
It's a grand hotel by the beach front with a lovely view of the sea when you exit the hotel. There was lots of big and nice rooms where talks were held in. Outside of that the hotel is surrounded by lots of car parking options so driving from afar is a good option.
Here for a works Xmas function, food service a bit slow.
Rooms in need of some tlc a bit shabby...Tv did not work and when complained nobody came to take a look at it as promised...disappointing expected much better...
Overall it's a great place but there is some disparity between different rooms of the same cost.
