The room we stayed was sub-standard. A family room with no bath is not really a family room. It had no air conditioning which made it stuffy at night and the fan provided was broken. The size of the room was small even for a double so really didn't feel like a family room.The room looked like it could do with a deep clean and finding mouse poison under the bed was a bit of a put off.
The breakfast and location was the redeeming feature of our stay.

Beautiful hotel, fabulous food and great service. Facilities- like pool and steam room etc were really lovely too. Only down side was expensive hotel parking even as a guest. Annoying as lots of space in car park as most go elsewhere but just makes it inconvenient. I suggest lowering prices to 15 pound a day.

The standard of hotels in Brighton isn t great, you d hope Hilton would at least try but it s truly not very good. No aircon in the cheaper rooms, a cheap fan (which gets turned off by house keeping, leaving the room to be hotter than outside when you return after a busy day), dirty carpets, windows you can t open and overall very dated. We had a recently refurbed bathroom, but it was very cramped and using the toilet made me a bit of a contortionist. Didn t get new toiletries after the first night, house keeping woke us up at 8.30 on check out day. Breakfast is good, though busy.

Went to the Metropole for afternoon tea in the front bar. Had a lovely table on the outside balcony area but the service was rather slow.
The tea was pretty good with a nice selection of sandwiches and cakes.

Very disappointing. Looks like it might once have been quite grand but now very tired and horrifically overpriced. Rooms are tiny and ancient. The bar is expensive, and some of our food never turned up (except on the bill). Parking charges are astronomical for a hideous cramped basement. There are plenty of much nicer places to stay in the town and you'd do well to avoid this maze of run down rooms. It would get one star if it didn't have a nice staircase and a few friendly helpful members of staff.

The room is too small for the two beds placed in it. The bath room needs a couple of days out of service to replace the bath and redecorate. Having said that the soap etc is top quality' as is the service, including the surprise birthday cake.

Not what you d expect from a Hilton... room was dirty, needs a really good deep clean. Lots of hair everywhere!

No air conditioning so the room was roasting hot (although I might be expecting too much from an old hotel like this!)

However... staff were really friendly, it s a great location and the breakfast was pretty decent... so just sort the cleanliness out and this will be a really nice place to stay.

Noisy room at end of hallway - could hear doors slam shut and loud housekeeping staff chatting in the lobby. Ridiculously expensive internet and buffet breakfast. Upon check-out - no one asked about my stay. They handed me the bill, didn't look up. I would never be back. I should have stayed at the Drakes down the street as my colleagues there had a lovely stay.

Been here twice. Never impressed with rooms. Rooms so hot and no air conditioning. They text you to ask if its adequate. Then ask how to make it perfect then ask for extra money. The bar is more expensive than the grand hotel. The bar toilets are in need of refurbishment.

Awful we asked to rearrange a stay due to unforeseen hospitalisation a week before our stay was booked in for. We didn t expect a refund but maybe a rearrangement or even would have settled with a small discount on another booking when it was quieter but they flat out refused. Selfish greedy people IMO. Also heard the rooms are a lottery anyway so you take your chances when you book. Would not recommend.

The room I had was decent but small. If you have lots of luggage or computer equipment or even room service, it's very cramped. I think the bathroom felt more spacious than the bedroom. Otherwise it was functional and clean.

Service was good - I got seen by the front desk staff in good time and they were friendly. The room service staff was competent, bringing in my dinner professionally and in a relatively quick time. Food was as good as you can expect from a good chain hotel - expensive but edible.

Misc stuff - major points off for the elevator issues (other people and I waited 10-15 minutes for AN elevator, which was reduced to 1-2 lifts out of 4, IIRC), location was good despite being in a very busy area, and if you don't like room service, many restaurants are available for takeaway and dining in as little as a block away. Going to the touristy spots was to be had by a 5-10 minute walk. Beach was nice except the day I was visiting was raining and dreary. Of course, the day I left, it was sunny.

I might consider coming back here if they do some room improvements and deal with the elevator reliability. Otherwise, you might get better deals elsewhere.

After trusting the Hilton brand we booked for a special treat and it was a complete disappointment.
We arrived to be told we were a special VIP for the stay! On most occasions you d think this would make it all ok but I can honestly say there was not a single part of this hotel that was worth paying for.
The room was booked as a deluxe sea view and apparently upgraded. It was disgusting! Stained carpets, ripped nets, dated bathroom with old and uncomfortable beds. We paid a lot of money for the room which also had a sofa bed. When we sat on the sofa bet it was literally springs! Obviously we called reception to move rooms, they stated we had been upgraded so were shocked and would send the manager. He agreed that the room was as standard and that even though we booked through Hilton s website on advance purchase the rate we paid was a lot higher than the standard so refunded the difference, however he couldn t move us to a better room. Even at the standard rate, this room was shocking! We tried to find another hotel to stay in but as a concert weekend we couldn t find one.
They sent two replacement put up beds instead of the sofa beds and they were slightly better. With the special treat now quickly becoming a disappointment we decided to make the best of it.
Breakfast was abysmal, the restaurant was grimy, there was traces of Hilton standard attempts but not enough. The hotel smelt bad and is in desperate need of an overhaul.
I want to say that the staff made up for all of this but I can t.

They had some terrible celebration bunting for 100 years of hospitality and you d think with that much experience, Hilton could do better!
This is the second U.K. Hilton that s disappointing and I have lost hope for trusting the brands reputation and the European department need to give them some support in hospitality.

I would not recommend this hotel.

Not worth the price tag. Relatively pleasant staff, but our room was small and basic. Wallpaper peeling is some communal areas, dust everywhere and some very shoddy repairs to the room (unfinished paint work etc.). All in all, not what I expected from a Hilton hotel.

4star hotel? Ive been to better 3stars and maybe even 2stars, this hotel was a big dissapointment, i was joined for lunch by a friend who is very fussy about food as he is allergic to alot of different ingredients so he asked if we could have some simple put together, and we didnt mind if it came a a slight extra cost. They outright said no, if we had just come in for lunch, i could understand, but i had been staying here a week and eaten in their restaurant twice everyday. NEVER GOING BACK

Room was spacious and generally well kept, few minor point which were disappointing (carpet thread bare, chair had cracked upholstery, shower grouting needed attention)
Staff were superb, well attentive and professional.
Breakfast was terrible. Hot food was of poor quality and variety was OK but expected more from the Hilton.
