I rated this business with 2 stars because my Salesman was very helpful! Informative, kind and patient. He followed up with me via text and e-mail after I visited twice.
Unfortunately, their managers are atrocious. The business manager on staff that day was a young man who was clearly overworked. The managers in the center area were rude and extremely unprofessional. There was zero sense of urgency and they were actually discussing how many awards one of the employees had on his desk. When we asked how much longer we had to wait after 45 minutes (and I promise we were polite) one manager said, and I quote, "oh is that for the 18 Accord? That deal may not get done.. your credit is fairly poor." He then swiveled his chair away. My wife tapped me and said "let's leave." We bought a car the very next day from a Honda dealer up north who understood what professionalism meant.
No matter what reply the business will have to this post about how this was an "outlier" experience - please please consider any other Honda dealer in the Greater Boston area if you're serious about car buying / leasing.

We had a great and easy experience buying our new used car from Herb Chambers of Boston. They had a variety of cars and prices to choose from and they're open until 9pm most nights. My husband and I looked online and decided to shop with Herb Chambers, the car fax is available to look at too. We printed out the ones we were interested in, I do recommend making an appointment since the cars are not all in one area.
Victor was our sales rep, this is our third car and he gave us the best service. We got our choices down to two, both were Honda Civics and they both had their upsides. One was more expensive than the other but Victor had good points to say about both cars and he didn't just try to push the more expensive one on us, which was nice that he wasn't pushy. We are very happy with the Honda Civic EX that we chose. What ever questions or requests I had Victor was able to answer and accommodate what we needed, he went above and beyond.
Victor was very respectful, patient, knowledgable, hard working, down to earth, relates to the customers needs and was accommodating. He's also a Patriots fan! Ask for Victor!

We purchased a 2007 Honda Accord from Herb Chambers Honda of Boston last November after our previous car had an unfortunate end.
The sales process was fine. We met with Keith Banks-Obanor, the top salesman at Herb Chambers (I think across all locations!). We found a car we liked and put down the $500 deposit to hold it.
We told Keith Banks-Obanor that prior to purchasing the car, we wanted to have it checked out by our guys at Glenville Auto. Glenville gave us a printout that stated that the car needed new tires, brakes, and a few other things.
We returned to Herb Chambers with the report. Keith assured us they already "taking care of everything" in the report. We also negotiated replacing the cracked bumper, which they weren't originally going to do. That was a major plus!
We take the car home a few days later, psyched to have it! Except for the vibration in the steering wheel. Hmmm. New brakes and new tires, and there's a vibration? My husband takes the car back to Herb Chambers Honda to get it checked out. Keith tells us that the new brakes just need to "wear in".
As you might expect, we were EXTREMELY upset. We apparently need new brakes, which was unexpected given the fact we thought we already had new brakes a few months ago. I posted several online reviews expressing our outrage.
Fortunately, Herb Chambers Honda's marketing department noticed the feedback, and asked Susan T from their service department to reach out to us directly. Her techs looked at the brakes - our rear brakes did need replacing, but the front ones were fine at 80% wear (which 5 months after the car sale indicates they must have actually been in good condition when we purchased the car). Our mechanic at Glenville Auto may not have been using the Honda specs when looking at the brakes... though we are going to get a third opinion.
Susan T offered to replace our rear brakes free of charge to make up for the mis-information given to us [several times] by Keith. They also aligned the car. Ultimately, Herb Chambers did not need to do this, but this demonstrates to me that they are interested in making sure customers are happy. If the brakes didn't need replacing when we bought the car, Keith should have been up front with us instead of telling us otherwise, and then trying to weasel out of it 5 months later.
Bottom line - used car salesmen are just trying to make the sale, so next time we buy a car - used or not, from any dealer - we will make sure to see the service records before signing the bill of sale. At least Herb Chambers Honda made up for their sales person's miscommunication, which is more than many other dealers would do.

I was pleasantly surprised with their great customer service (having to deal with very aggressive dealers in the past).

I decided to call this place because it's close to my house. I made an appointment for 4pm. I don't know if it was because of the cold or it was almost the end of the night for them but the customer service was not good at all. They made me wait 20 minutes before I was able to speak to a representative. Which is fine until he starts telling me that it's too late and " I have to leave my car there overnight. That I would have been better off coming in the morning to get my car checked out." From what I'm aware of most people work 9 to 5 so how is that convenient to anybody but them. Definitely will not be coming here again.

My experience at Herb Chambers Service Department was great. Car was diagnosed and finished in one day despite the fact that a lot of work was needed. The service costs were high but to be honest, they all are. And, I'm willing to pay a little more when I feel as though customer service is important to the dealership. I definitely got this vibe at Herb Chambers. I will absolutely return. I've been to literally every dealership in the Greater Boston area in search of great service and Herb Chambers is at the top of this list.

At first my experience with Herb chambers honda in brighton was good. The salesman acted like he gave me a good deal on the vehicle. Also telling me that i can't get much for my trade in ( 2009 nissan altima 58k miles). He told me that he wouldn't be able to sell the car for a higher price than 6k. So i bought the car, the car itself is super nice! A few days later i checked on the website for used cars, and look what i saw, my vehicle , sold for 9k$!!!!. IS this salesman serous!???!!! My fault that i didn't go elsewhere and check for trade in. But this guy is straight up lying to people. I believe he is also a priest! SMH!!! Five days after i bought my vehicle, i had to bring it in for inspection sticker. I had the worst experience ever!! Dropped my car off at the front, and told them that I'm here for an inspection sticker. I then went and sit down. Waited 20 mints and still nothing, so i went to the customer service lady. I asked if she can find out if my car was done, she told me what car? I said i dropped it off in front. The lady said you supposed to come in here and checked in with us. How the hell do i know that i was supposed to check in with her?!! IS she serous?!! I asked the front desk lady, she never informed me about checking in. N now this lady putting the blame on me??!!! WOW!! but unfortunately i have to go back more often to do oil change and anything else to the vehicle. But i would never buy a car from this place ever again. Unlike many other consultants we met along the way, he made us feel comfortable as soon as we met him - he was extremely patient, friendly, and down-to-earth. We never felt like he was trying to juggle our time with another client's; when he was with us, his attention was focused solely on our concerns. I was driving at about 38 mi/h and suddenly lost control of the car on a lane change, and ended up colliding with a concrete divider. I had my car towed to this branch. Herb Chambers was adamant that the steering knuckle broke BECAUSE I hit the concrete divider, and asked to get my insurance involved.
I did so, wanting to get the car fixed as soon as possible, so the insurance sent someone to get an estimate for the repair and the process of repair started...then Herb chambers sent me a list of parts to be repaired and saw that they included the "fixing" of ALL FOUR of my wheels, even though CLEARLY only one was broken. Not only that, they tried to increase their labour rate (to more than $100/h) which exceeded the insurance's estimate, and on top of that charged me $100/day for keeping the car at the branch, total of 9 days saying that work didn't start until then but i started right away.. None of these were on the insurance's appraisal, and so the insurance refused to pay for these add-ons. All of that a result of the person's unprofessional work who was handling the situation at herb serv dep.
Clearly there is something sketchy going on, they were obviously trying to squeeze out as much cash from me from this situation, and I felt completely let down by this company especially since I am a repeat customer of this Herb Chambers and thats my second car through them. Worst of all, this whole situation was stalled because my insurance was not going to pay the exorbitant bill coming from the extra items, the 9 days storage fee and their dreamy labour rate that he changed it after telling the insurance otherwise, but Herb Chambers service department did not want to communicate and smooth this problem out with my insurance.
I did not receive my car until a month later. I'm calling out two workers in particular, who did not help the situation:
1. Fred Fox, the service representative kept the insurance out of the loop through this whole process. My insurance appraiser did not approve many of the repair services he added to the bill, yet he was extremely rude and openly unwilling to answer any of my questions about his fishy work.
2. Susan, the service manager was so unreasonably reluctant to help me and look into this whole mess. She was extremely unprofessional and even insisted I paid the bill out of pocket in order for them to release the car. Only when the general manager, Nick, became involved did Susan suddenly decided to look into the situation.
There are a lot more reasonably-priced, and more importantly, trustworthy service providers in the area, so I would advice anyone to skip Herb Chambers service dep because of their poor service department.

Off that bat i could tell he was more concerned about my needs and the deal I wanted, rather than making a simple sale which meant a lot to me. That is when Forest "The Closer" came into the picture and assured me not to worry since "You have 30 days to exchange the car for anything in OUR inventory". Thats what I needed to hear so I signed the contract. A few days later when I saw my children struggling with the manual doors I decided I shouldnt have taken that model and decided on a more expensive model with power doors. This is when everything started to go down hill and the pleasantries and smiles turned into excuses and stories. Errol the Dealerships GM insisted that when I was told "exchange for anything in OUR inventory" I should have understood that means the Boston location ONLY and not "OUR" as in Herb Chambers, so they wouldnt give me the car I wanted because it was at a different HERB CHAMBERS location. They so conveniently offered me a car for almost twice what I paid. My wife and I were extremely upset and even though we both work, we were on the phone with them for hours, they made us come into the dealership multiple times- we wasted so much time on this, but no luck- only excuses upon excuses. So we had no choice but to involve a lawyer. I dont know if anyone there will realize what has happened and correct the situation, or if they will make us go to court. but I will keep posting here and let you all know how this unfolds. I just leased my first car at Herb Chambers Honda in Boston (Honda Civic EX-L). The salesman, Hasan Reid, was exceptional. I have never leased before and he was so helpful and informative. He went out of his way to make sure all of my (many) questions were answered, and patiently rode around town with us while we test drove, pointing out several neat "Eco" features of the new Honda models. He also kept in touch after I left the dealership to keep me informed on exactly what was being processed and the time frame for delivery/pick-up. All-around a very positive experience, and it is clear that Herb Chambers salesmen are trained in the (lost) art of customer service. Well done!

****Be aware****, sales department are big scammers!!! they post cheap cars so they can attract customers (traffic). I called around 9 am to check on 2 cars that they showed available on the website and they confirmed that they were by phone and email... so I arrived to their location within 20 minutes at ~9:30 in the morning on a weekday and somehow both cars were sold within that 20 minutes and the dealership only had one customer in the showroom and couple sales guys!!!

Herb Chambers in Boston/Dorcchester is absolutely amazing. This will be long winded! My first point of contact was Fabian (sorry if I misspelled!) via email. Even through an email he seemed personable. I took a ride down to check out a 2018 Accord Sport that they had and Fabian introduced me to Brian, the salesman. I was expecting the typical car dealership procedure, but we had a great 20 minute conversation about every day subjects. At this point I was thinking to myself...well this is different and refreshing!
Brian took me out for a test drive and I loved the car. We went back in and glossed over some numbers. The first offer was a bit much for me, so Brian worked some magic and brought the finance guy in. I forgot his name, but we were able to work out a deal that I was comfortable with. I would like to mention that I did not get to the dealership until 6PM and they close at 8PM. It ended up being past 8PM after the initial paper work and deal was agreed upon, but the business manager, Dewayne was still working some numbers with the credit application.
I was in Brian's office waiting for the final contract and in comes Brian with some pizza. He gave me a few slices! I mean he didn't have to give me some of his dinner. He was there late because of me. This was a "seal the deal" gesture and I absolutely appreciated it. Thanks Brian! I made it into Dewaynes office and we finalized a deal. I had to come back with my cosigner a few days later to finish some paperwork but the biggest hurdles were behind us. I would like to commend Dewayne for his professionalism and work ethic.
Dewayne told me that he would work on getting me a better rate and deal over the next few days until I was able to come back down. I thought well I doubt that, but I've had a great experience so far, so OK. Guess what...he did find me a better deal and got me a longer warranty with no extra charges! I felt a little guilty for doubting him. This is not your Typical dealership.
I picked the vehicle up today and another plus for this dealership is this. If they see someone in the lot an employee immediately comes to greet you. Not a ,"Hey what are you thinking about buying?" , but a ,"Hi, how are you, come on in." kind of way. This was refreshing.
Every employee that I came across was helpful, respectful, professional, and welcoming. I cannot recommend any other dealership after going here. And to Brian and Dewayne. You guys were fantastic! Thanks for everything!

HOWEVER the person who answered the phone when I called to ask if I could bring my car in that morning neglected to tell me that the dealership had MOVED. (I notice it still says your old address on this site!) It wasn't until I drove to the Commonwealth Avenue location that I found out that I now needed to drive to Dorchester!!! You need to inform people!!!! Probably for the next several months you need to inform people & not assume they know...since one of the reasons I have continued to buy Hondas since 1984 is that they require minimal maintenance which means very infrequent visits for service.

I want to let you know about my amazing experience buying a car from Herb Chambers Honda in Boston. After sending Herb Chambers a note earlier this month about my interest in getting a solid family car that was within our budget, Herb recommended that I connect with Herb Chambers Honda in Boston and talk to general manager Ian Miller.
I met with Ian last week and he was very friendly, knowledgeable and respectful. He wanted to hear all about my family and my son s health situation and he worked really hard to find the exact car we were looking for. Ian was a total pro and made the car buying experience a joy. After checking the inventory of available cars and making a few calls, he was able to come up with several options for my family. At that point, I started working with sales consultant Hasan Reid. Hasan took me out for test drives, answered all my questions about the cars we drove and then went through the sales process step-by-step. Hasan made me feel totally at ease and that night I decided on buying a 2009 Toyota RAV 4.
Two days later I came in to do all the paperwork for the sale and brought along my 14-year-old daughter Neely. Ian came over and said hello to me and Neely and let her know about the free ice cream in the showroom (Yum!). Ian could not have been nicer to my daughter and it was really appreciated. With Neely by my side, I signed the paper work at Hasan s desk. Hasan was easy-going and professional and also great with Neely. We then met with finance manager Mohammed Denny. Mohammed walked us through the final points of the sale and did a great job explaining the warranty options. He was also extremely professional and great with my daughter.
Finally, after dealing with the registry about a title (that was not fun) and getting all my paperwork in order, I was able to come into Herb Chambers Honda on Tuesday July 21 and get my new car. Sales consultant Akenba George then stepped into the mix. He helped get the title paper work done and took the plates off my old car. And once again, I brought my daughter and just like everyone else I worked with at Herb Chambers Honda, Akenba was a total pro and extremely nice to me and my daughter.
Thanks to you Herb, we now have a great Toyota that we hope runs for many years. We have nothing but praise for your help and the way you run your business. My wife is singing the praises of the Herb Chambers experience in many of her online social groups and I have told many people about how nice you were to my son two years ago and how great your dealership is.

This place was kind of shady. We made a deal and I signed the registration papers, but right before I signed the actual lease agreement, the manager stepped in and said the deal cant be done. Two months later, I talked to that same salesman on the phone and asked about their $67/month with $2,999 down lease deal they advertised. He told me that advertisement wasn't true and said that I would have to pay $6,000 down at least. That just doesn't sound right for a Civic?? Real shady sales tactics over there. Take your business elsewhere.

This business has broken several laws. They contacted me by open postcard disclosing my personal financial records to anyone that even looks at it. I have never done business with them and never consented to being contacted therefore they have obtained my contact info either by stealing it or illegally purchasing it. The postcard reads with demanding and arrogant words that they have given me a deadline to contact them about purchasing a vehicle. Who the hell are they to violate people's privacy and coerce them into taking actions against them in order to get them to stop. The audacity of this is staggering and will be contacting the State Attorney General's Office about this matter. I am sure they will either blow this off, minimize it with cheap reasoning and/if the do respond it will be with more stealership arrogance.

I bought my first car from Eric Poulson last winter, and when I needed a second one this week that's who I called. Eric isn't really a "car salesman" - he's a good guy that you'll actually like who wants you to be happy in the car you buy. If there isn't a car in the lot that meets what you need, he'll tell you, and I know for sure he was looking out for me even at the expense of a lower commission. I'm not much for bromances, and even less for writing reviews, but I've got a new car and a cold beer and I'm inspired, so you should just go see Eric. Extra points to HCHIB for having apples and ice cream in the dealership and they don't mind the toddlers climbing around new cars in the showroom. (note that they should eat the ice cream after the climbing). Also had quick service in finance both times thanks to Lacellus and Mohammed.

To be honest one of the worst experiences I ve ever had buying a car. I should have just left the first time I went in because they had me waiting for a salesman for 2 hours +. Then I m told yeah we will get you what you need. The car I bought didn t come with one thing floor mats so I asked can you get me some and the salsman says yes for sure. Three weeks later no floor mats. I call the salesman and talked about it and at the end of it he says oh it s not a Honda car so we can t help you. Should have said that in the first place but now I m trying to pay my bill still haven t gotten paper work for that so I call to try and pay my bill and they give me the run around saying we will call you back. Never once have they called me back. I m calling them and getting the same thing every time can we take you name and number and we will call you back. Don t believe them. If I could I would just bring the car back and bring my business elsewhere. Certainly these people don t deserve it.

This was my first experience with a brand new car and I went in expecting the worst. I wasn't pressured by anyone about anything, and as soon as I needed to actually get help Taylor saw me wandering around the showroom looking lost and took it from there. He helped me get what I wanted, he didn't try to push anything on me, and he was both casual and professional. It felt like talking to a regular dude, no larger than life rockstar salesman vibe like I see a lot in my own professional life. He provided a level of service and help that I was genuinely shocked by, and when it came down to the numbers it felt like he was fighting for me, not for the company. He helped me get the best for what I could afford and respected both me and my needs. He delivered his personable relatable level of professionalism up until the moment I drove away today. I wasn't some massive sale, I'm just a guy leasing a Civic, and he treated the whole process the way I imagine you get treated when you're paying cash for a fully optioned Porsche. I don't usually leave reviews but this really was outstanding. Stellar guy, super knowledgeable, and incredibly respectful. The rest of the staff I dealt with was excellent as well - Russell, the business manager was incredibly inviting and right to the point. Again, didn't push anything on me, just kept the ball rolling and like Taylor he just facilitated me getting what worked best for me. Spent the rest of the day running errands in the car everyone there helped me end up with and I couldn't be happier.

I recently purchased my new Honda at Herb Chambers Honda in Boston. I fully expected this to be one of the most unpleasant experiences that I would have to deal with in the last year. I was pleasantly surprised to find out how remarkably friendly and competent all of the members of the sales team were. Specifically, Chip and Audrey on the telephone were spectacular. However, when I arrived at the dealership, Brad, was beyond belief. He escorted me through the sales process seamlessly with total assurance and actually a great sense of humor. The general manager, Nick, was extremely gracious, and handed me off to other trusted members of his staff. The sales manager, Myles, was extremely competent, and professional. I then dealt with the finance manager, Tylor, who closed my deal and convinced me to purchase additional coverage options. When I left the dealership, I felt extremely happy with my purchase. I felt I was treated fairly, and actually felt a connection with the people I dealt with.
