No Center aisles which makes entering and exiting a real chore. Hope there is never a fire because if you're in the middle seats, just relax and start to pray. Also, empty your bladders early because there is a shortage of toilets.
Very cool theatre with great employees. The lighting tech (female) and sound tech (male), can't remember their names, were incredibly helpful we wouldn't have been able to complete our movie shoot without them.
The Sounds of the Season event was absolutely wonderful! The Symphony and the Chorale were both fantastic, but the special addition of the solo soprano and the dance troupe made it a truly exceptional experience. I am a bit biased, as my young granddaughter is part of the dance troupe that performed and we drove over three hours in hopes of seeing her. That said, the music and choral performances were fabulous. The sing along at the end was very festive, and everyone in the venue was friendly and inviting. Definitely an event to attend!
We went here for my daughters competition and it is a very nice building! Spacious
We have been to the Hemmens a lot of times for various events. It's a really nice venue for seeing the Elgin Symphony, but we were there to see a play that day. These are the old style seats so it's a slow rise and shortened pitch but pretty much everywhere has a clean, unobstructed view of the stage.
Event venue was ok. Bathrooms were downstairs. Seats were comfortable with room for people to pass. No bad seats for viewing. Parking was in the garage and a bit of a walk.
Beautiful building, but the seats are tight tight tight. I had my baby arms i felt like i was on top of the people next to me (one being my friend). However because the auditorium is small you can see everyone one stage which is nice
Hemmens has awesome lighting and a great stage. Especially for dance performances it is brilliant. Ample green room space. Lobby area and campus is beautiful. Really good photo shoots can be done. Lobby area can get crowded if there are are more than 600 people. Overall a great place!!
Very nice, clean, small theater. Easy to locate bathrooms. Parking is free.
1300 seat theatre! Very nice experience! Right on the river!
