We have HCTC fiber optic in our Kerrville office. Very reasonable price point. Whenever there has been an issue, they respond right away. Service is head and shoulders above what we receive from Spectrum in San Antonio.

Was interested in their internet services and contacted them in regards to setting something up. Where I'm located they said they "might" be able to connect me but weren't sure. First I'd have to fill out an app with an $80 fee before they could give me a straight answer. The fee would be refunded if they weren't able to but why would I apply and pay for a service that THEY don't even know they can provide me? They must not want new customers very badly

**Update** I received a phone call from HCTC only a few hours after leaving this review. They called to offer help with improving my internet speed and offer helpful suggestions. I wasn't able to speak with them directly but I received a very detailed VM wanting to help my situation. I will be calling back tomorrow. Thank you all for your prompt response and willingness to help. You customer service is unmatched.

Everyday the speeds get slower and slower. I cannot watch Netflix without it buffering every 3 minutes. I pay for the highest speed Center Point is outfitted with and barely get half of what I pay for. Constantly having to reset the router. Definitely not worth it if you're out in the country. Currently exploring better options for my area.

our neighborhood recently had fiber brought out here (in the hills) and i couldn't be happier with the faster internet and the lower price. the technicians installed our main house, added an extender for my home office and reprogrammed the guesthouse to receive the new service. Super professional, friendly, and made very sure everything worked before they left. we also just recently had a tree limb land on our phone/fiber line from the last storm and they were there in a few hours with a bucket truck to cut it down and the other dead limbs around it. the actual tree is on the neighbors property but hangs over ours right where the phone line is. i couldn't be happier with HCTC. Also, when i called the office a few months ago, they were so polite and friendly and answered my questions and made sure we were taken care of. great customer service. great fiber speed.

We had issues with our service at first. Being out in the middle of nowhere and in a older home...its to be expected. When the company became aware of our situation, they went above and beyond to make it right.

I have been a customer of Hill Country for 4 years...

I have been a customer of Hill Country for 4 years.
I have their security service.
Recently I spoke with Mario and told him I wanted to go wireless on my system.He informed me I would have to pay a little over a hundred dollars.I told him I'd think about it.I thought about it and called to have this done.Install went fine and I had the landline from Windstream discontinued.
Yesterday I got a bill from Hill Country Telephone for $431.00 needless to say I was in utter shock.
I will contact them Monday March 21,2016 and try to resolve this.
If I fail I'm writing this review ahead of time.If I get what I was promised I will retract this.

Great fiber at our office... added to my home and it was a bit troublesome... Bart and HCTC went above and beyond to find out what was going on... after a few misses... it's all good now! Thank y'all!

Good and super friendly people you can get internet any where from anyone.
But if your looking for service with a smile come here
They know your name always a pot of coffee mike and Andy do such amazing work make you feel like your visiting family when you walk in

Changing my review to update some improvement in the service. I'm no longer experiencing local call issues, international calls are better too, but I do occasionally experience trouble getting through. The internet still goes through phases of being atrocious, especially considering how expensive this service is. I'm still not impressed. When I moved out here in 2015, I was told they had fiber optic. Still waiting.

On the plus side the staff are amazingly helpful and courteous. That is appreciated. If you call in, you get great service, and they're also very responsive on Facebook. That only gets them an extra two stars.

However, if I had another option, I would still move to a different provider. I had better service, options, and pricing when I was with Time Warner Cable (and I only had phone and internet with TWC - so it's not the TV that makes a difference.) I had a 50MB line with unlimited calling with TWC for only $50 per month, and could call internationally for a penny a minute.

If things change, for better or worse, I'll be sure to update my review.

HCTC's fiber internet has been a life saver. I've been working from home, like many, for the last 3 months and the internet connection has been reliable without any interruptions. I also recently upgraded my fiber from 50mbps to 100mbps and the customer service was excellent and the upgrade was seamless.

We've had their internet service for about three years. During that time, we experience chronic problems with buffering. We reset the Wifi/router HCTC provided, but it is a bandaid. We've boosted download speed to 50 kb/s, only to find out it is still at 20 kb/s. They have sent technicians out twice in the last few months, but the problem lingers. If I had a another choice, I would drop HCTC in a heart beat.

Absolutely trash when it comes to reconnecting your internet missed my payment one time by a day, paid it first thing in the morning and it s almost 5 in the afternoon and still don t have internet. If I could get internet anywhere else I would.

New speeds are nice but extremely expensive and there are no cheap options. Customer service I talked to was a joke. Someone online was ddosing my internet for 3 months and customer service told me that "those kinds of things aren't possible" which is just laughable, and we had a static ip so I couldn't reset our IP address. 3 months (240$) of unusable internet for something that was super easy to fix. Eventually they replaced our modem (which changes your IP address) and bam the attacks stop.

I have no choice but to use HCTC as there is no other service available in my area. I have had a bad experience from the start. I was paying $60 a month for internet with SWTC. When I moved, I had to switch to HCTC. They force you to bundle, so I have phone + internet, and I am paying $120-$150/month. I started service mid-November. I called mid-December to see how much my bill was going to be and was told that a bill had not been formulated yet and that I would receive a bill in January. The first bill I ever received from HCTC was a TERMINATION NOTICE and two months of service. $300. I expressed my displeasure about this and was given the same explanation by two different employees. That the first bill is usually always for two months, that I missed the billing cycle for November and December. I was told I had to pay 1/ 2 the bill by February 4th to keep service on, so I called today just for them to tell me that I have to pay the remainder by 2/11. I would never recommend this service to anyone and only have it because I have no other choice where I live. I had Spectrum for years. I've had Comcast. Never have I ever ran into anything like this. I'm only giving 1 star because at least the internet works.

I initially took off a star for buying an unnecessary piece of equipment but HCTC credited us a month of service which was more expensive than the equipment we purchased so I added a star. Really couldn't ask for much more.
We have their fiber internet and for the first year the service was not the best. They worked with us to optimize our wireless router placement and even sent us a Comtrend Powerline adapter that solved ALL issues and made it possible to get a strong Wifi signal throughout our home and backyard. Austin Hardy, the person we spoke to actually came to our house and set up everything. The only reason I deducted a star was because another person in their technical support division suggested a piece of equipment to help fix our problem and it turned out to not be compatible with HCTC's techinical support services. For everyone who has a problem with their signal strength invest in a Comtrend powerline adapter, you won't be disappointed.

I'm in the process of moving to Comfort and wanted to find a reasonably priced Internet service in the Falling Water subdivision. Research has shown me that the options are very limited. Contacting the HTCT personnel was a good experience; however, they require you to buy a bundled package including phone with a contract that is not needed. It should not cost over $100/month for reasonable Internet speeds.

Since I can get a signal through T-Mobile, that is the route that I shall take, using my data plan, and stream through LTE bands via wireless. Already have the service, may as well put my T-Mobile data package to good use.

About 2-3 months ago HCTC installed a bonded modem to help improve our internet service. It is horrible! For the last 4 days our internet has only worked about half the time and when it does it isn t fast enough to stream anything and it is splotchy to search the internet. We are in the rural area of Hunt and if I had a choice of better service elsewhere I would take it! Everyone within 5 miles of us has fiber and they haven t ran it here yet. Not sure what is going on with that. All I know is it wasn t worth the trouble of changing the modem.

I got exactly what I paid for, 100 MB/sec download...

I got exactly what I paid for, 100 MB/sec download speed and 100 MB/sec upload speed. What more could I ask? The fiber cable install technicians were very efficient and most professional. My e-bill came on time. So far, great. Highly recommend.

The office where I used to work uses HCTC and loves them. Best local high-speed Internet provider around! And their people are super friendly, fast, and are always working to get more high-speed fiber to rural Texas. Highly recommend!

Poor poor poor quality, I currently pay for 10 mbp...

Poor poor poor quality, I currently pay for 10 mbps which is the highest for my area, i only recieve half of a megabyte, yes you heard me. Only half. Not even getting the service i pay for, the installer told me the lines out where i live are old and need to be replaced, i asked him when this would be and he told me that its the last priorty. Im a paying customer and a definitely not a happy one, i would really appreciate it if this company would take care of my issue rather than brushing it off and saying my experience doesnt matter cause im the last priority.

HTCT is the worst internet provider I have ever had. Have called many times and complained but they never seem to resolve the issue. Can't even watch a show on Netflix without it buffering ever 5 minutes. What really pisses me off is that they have you locked in a contract for 2 years. Do they not realize that puts a sour taste in your mouth. It only makes you hate them more. So I will tell everyone I know about my bad service to deter them from even thinking about using them. Plus if they think people that are forced to use them because of their stupid contract will ever use them again, they are idiots. Once I'm out of my contract, I will never use them again even if they were the only internet service provider in the area.

We are at the end of the DSL line, and were getting only about 18 mbps download speed, paying for 25. Bought a new TV that needed better speed, so paid for the upgrade to 45 mbps. We are only getting about 29. Can't wait until BEC's fiber is available, I will definitely switch!!

the service sucks! we have great net for 2 weeks out of every month. Not gonna say who i talked to there but i was informed they have to many people they do service for and they cant keep up so they drop the net speed on many people and boost other speeds for customers. and to top it off somebody there has the IP for our router and taps into out wireless. i have got 4 routers from them in a 1 year time span and they all are outdated. its really sad when you cant even load google. than they tell me that it a problem with my PC not there service......REALLY I have a 2300 dollar gaming pc dont feed me that crap. If you can get service with someone else DO IT save you some time and a headache
