I stayed at this hotel in early Sept. The location is beautiful and common areas very clean and nice, however I found the room in need of a very deep cleaning. There was significant build up of dirt in the corners and at base of walls, especially in the bathroom. The screen door to balcony was broken and did not slide on the track. The staff was friendly but dining room rather slow. Food was excellent once it arrived.

Communication was excellent from the beginning of the trip. We called before boarding the ferry and scheduled a cute golf cart pickup at the dock. Driving thru town our young associate answered questions about the island, gave local suggestions and managed to fit in all the amenities provided by the hotel. The drive was scenic and MV has such great old school architecture that it's hard NOT to imagine just picking up living there full time.

Pulling up to Harbor View is exactly what it sounds like. The hotel faces the harbor and a lighthouse. There's a path that leads from the front steps, across a quiet street and down a rock beaten path to the beach. Harbor View provides chairs, umbrellas and transport.

The lobby is homey, inviting and smells good.
Front desk is on point with welcomes and offers. Complimentary bikes and 3 styles of Mercedes Benzes to choose from as your own personal car for a couple of hours, first come first served, but still free. Restaurant around the corner from the concierge has a small but tasty menu. Blueberry pankcakes, avocado toast, fried chicken sandwiches, steaks and sandwiches all fresh tasting and filling.

We were situated in the new building in the behind the pool. Rooms very clean but nothing too special. I liked the energy efficient central air that shut off as soon as the balcony door was opened and resumed as soon as it was closed. Housekeeping, again on point, because they always managed to let me know when they were going to be headed into my room and if I wanted anything specific done.

After shopping near the marina one night, I took one of the bikes for a midnight bike ride, complete with a wireless speaker, across the island to Oak Bluffs with my cousin. Bit off more than we could chew BUT we did it. Found a bar still doing last calls and had a great convo into the night with some locals.

MV seems like its own world on its own island of which its inhabitants only seem to be looking for and exuding positive vibes.

There is so much to see and do that I dont have the energy to write about at this moment. But for my first time in MV, Harbor View hotel was the best start I could've made. I cant wait to go back.

We just left here a few days ago. It is probably the cleanest hotel ever. The facility is immaculate. The location is ideal. The staff is great. So why didn't I give it 5 stars? It is probably the loudest hotel I have ever stayed in. For the price, I was hoping to get more peace. We were on the second floor in the main part. The resturant is very loud (especially at night when people have had a few), and it seems people don't realize doors slam. There were a lot of families and kids. We would stay there again, but this time I would request a higher room or we would try a cottage.

Had a great time hear. There was a problem getting overcharged on my bill. But they fixed it when mentioned. Ample parking in a semi-peak timeframe. Awesome to take a stroll down to the lighthouse nearby. Very comfortable and clean rooms.

Ok, I hate to be a negative Nancy but there are pros and cons to this well known hotel on the island. It's not ALL that.

first the pros:
I was there for a week long course so I got a special deal per night at $399 compared to the $500-700 estimate in prime August season.

The pool was meticulously kept up and the servers and bar were well stocked and easy to access. Free towels and plenty of space to lay out. Yard games on the greenery in the back.

Two beautiful restaurants on location. Henry's and Water Street. You need reservations for Dinner and $$$$. Only went to Water Street for cocktails so no real impression.

Free Parking

Location, Location, Location across the street from the beautiful Lighthouse Beach in Edgartown, steps away from downtown eating and shopping and rocking chairs on the wrap around porch to view to the pristine scenery.

The Cons:
For $399 a night (a deal considering but still on the very high end) our room was clean but no over the top accessories or highlights. In fact our shower and sink clogged daily. Our pool view room had a couple of metal chairs I could have bought at Christmas Tree Shop but our view was semi-private due to the landscaping. Cool I like that, but it was loud. Too loud. Kids in the pool from 8am til dusk everyday. And landscapers started before that and being on the ground floor, we heard everything.

There was a mini-fridge but nothing in it.

TV was static - no premium channels.

Facilities for the course were big enough but they said power would be supplied at every table for computers - they weren't. And it was freezing. I needed a sweatshirt daily in August, which I didn't bring.

SO yes, it's beautiful and convenient, but there was nothing so special about this place that makes you feel like the price tag is worth it. But it was packed and goes to show people will pay what you set.

I live in Iowa now, but I grew up in NY. I spent lots of summers on Cape Cod. I had an opportunity to go to Harbor View in February. I was there for a week and it regenerated my soul. It's a perfect place.

Our room on the 4th floor was fantastic, the service was great, and the food at Henry's restaurant was absolutely delicious. The room was very expensive but I suppose that is to be expected in Martha's Vineyard. The area did not have much going on because most shops and restaurants are closed after Labor Day.

Stayed a spring weekend (out of peak season) and really enjoyed it. The rooms were clean, the beds were comfortable, and the location was perfect. Located near a nice collection of shops, bars, and restaurants as well as a beautiful lighthouse that is easily accessible. Enjoyed their lobster special at the restaurant and the nice rocking chairs on the porch overlooking the lighthouse and the bay.

We stayed in a two-bedroom cottage and I just want to say everything was impeccably appointed. The staff went above and beyond making sure all of our needs were met. The room service was wonderful. We have an amazing breakfast... the food is just outstanding. Pool was lovely and additionally they offer a yoga class and boot camp in the morning. I have been to the Vineyard many times and in my opinion... this is the only place to stay! Edgartown is absolutely beautiful. The Harbor View Hotel is located in Edgartown near the lighthouse. Several friends joined me for lunch in Henry's, the casual bar at the hotel. The service and the food were great. The view is exceptional, the windows overlook the outer harbor.

The Harbor View Hotel is a great property. It's near enough to Main Street to walk and far enough to feel private. Some of the rooms have great views, but most have nice property views. Admittedly, my biggest complaint is that the rooms seem to have very little soundproofing between rooms, but because it's a quiet place to begin with (when we visited) it wasn't much of an issue.

We have been staying her 2 times a year for 9 years. We love the location but I've noticed over the years we pay a lot of money but the rooms have appeared worn. For the money we spend it has become an ok place to stay the last few years. Last night we were woken out of a deep sleep at 12:30am to the fire alarm going off. It appeared to be a glitch with the sprinkler system. One would think when your guest is inconvenienced in the middle of the night maybe breakfast would be on the house but that wasn't the case. I have become very disappointed with the Harbor View over the last few years..I hope they turn it around for my next visit or I may seek another venue to patronize!

It gives off a home-like vibe making me instantly comfortable. The main lobby is nice suited with couches, a fake warm giving fire place, as well as multiple board games to entertain. It also has a large variety of room selections in different buildings which I imagine is better for summer weather. Once you're settled from the ferry ride you may become hungry or filled with the need to travel both are included. Two restaurants are located inside the central building both with good overall taste and presentation as well as a great view of the nearby lighthouse(great photo opportunity). With traveling not only can rent a car from a place in the town, but you're given a booklet with information on buses and taxis. I spent some time with taxis leading to great conversation moments definitely enhancing the experience. Overall this creates a four star rating.

Concierge Darlene was all-around terrific during our recent stay! She was very well-connected, very responsive and had great ideas to make the trip to Harbor View fantastic, including arranging hard-to-get restaurant reservations and organizing a picnic on the beach. She was in tune to our party s needs and interests. She was very friendly and a pleasure to work with. It s clear that it s not just a job for her; it s a passion!

Hotel was very picturesgue, but the service was poor. Waited 2 and a half hours for a room in the Off Season, when the hotel was virtually empty. We were there for an affair that started at 4p.m., and were hoping to gain entry to the room earlier. No heat in the bathroom......after two phone calls and a 27 hour wait, a maintenance man came and plugged in a portable radiator. The front desk clerk said he left messages-no message on either my cell or on the room phone. I could go on, but this gives you an idea, that they just didn't care about the customer.
