Beautiful hotel. Service was very good. Stayed 5 days, rooms and grounds well maintained. My only issue was I was upgraded to a cottage because they were overbooked, the room was great. But the walls separating the units in the cottage were not in any way sound proof. Thankfully, those guests only stayed one night.

My husband surprised me for our anniversary with a trip to Martha s Vineyard. We stayed at the Harbor View Hotel in Edgartown and let me tell you that this was the best experience and anniversary ever. The rooms are very clean, the grounds are beautiful and the staff are amazing. The hotel views are heavenly. Carlos, the hotel supervisor was especially the best. He met our every need and went above and beyond on even the smallest requests. Carlos really made our trip much more comfortable and enjoyable. Darlene was great and informative as well. Guy was friendly and welcoming. I can t say enough about this place. We plan to come back before the end of the year and every summer.

Great hotel, especially in the off season when it is affordable. Don't know anything about the rooms being "dated" as we stayed in a beautiful room on the second floor. Great location just a show few blocks from town.

Unless you are loaded, the off-season is the time to visit (lower prices).

Went here in early September - staff couldn't have been better. Very comfortable beds - rooms are a bit small and the resturants weren't always open since it was the off season but we had a very nice stay

Very nice place. The Captain's cottage is amazing! The fireplace did not work when we arrived but the staff was helpful and friendly. The location is perfect and while not within a walk to the town it is close enough to make it easy to get to. The hotel has 2 restraints onsite both with the same menus but they both offered great views of the harbor. The greeting we received when we arrived was very friendly and inviting. The staff quickly informed us of the area and where to go. The whole area was relaxing and a perfect weekend get away.

Our second stay here. During the winter months the price is right. Great view of the lighthouse and bay from a gigantic porch, if its warm enough or you're tough enough. It seems like a lot of locals come here for the restaurant. They have daily specials like buttermilk fried chicken that is really good. A decent bar with typical pricing. Parking on site or on the street. We'll be back.

A very quiet, almost always dreamy place. The residents of Martha's Viineyard are accommodating and open-minded. The hotels and restaurants are very familiar with a good kitchen. However, rental cars are highly recommended.

Hotel was clean, front desk service pretty friendly but a bit high-brow. Tried to check in early since it was difficult to time it right with the ferry. I suppose they tried but we still had to wait 4 hours for the room even though previous guests checked out. I'll give it the four stars since all wait staff and other service personnel were very helpful and service oriented.
Their restaurants are a bit weird though. There's a booth for a hostess but there is never a hostess to greet you or take your reservation. Bartender at Henry's jokes with us after we waited for 10 minutes and said he would get rid of the hostess station. Once you get seated though the food is very good. Like most good hotels they have an off the book menu. If you're at Henry's for example, the table right next to us were order from a special menu, oops, guess our $500 per night room does not qualify for that menu. The food off the regular menu was still good :).

And the Harborview Hotel is awesome and they ve gone through some renovations lately and they re expanding so it won t be that hard to get a room anymore I mean obviously the water view rooms will still be in demand. The front desk can be lacking this time of year. The restaurant renovations are nice but detract from the home feel it had before. The bar area is expanded but is not as quaint as it used to be.

Booked three months in advance and were told water view rooms. Booking took almost an hour as 3rd party booking company first got the site wrong and booked us in a different hotel. When we caught it on receipt and called back, they told us they were not sure about water view and tried to transfer us to front desk.... who did not answer for 45 minutes. Finally told us we would have water view rooms. When we arrived, rooms were on side of building with a view of a parked tour bus and directly over whole building A.C. so there was a constant drone sound. Went back to front desk, they apologized and showed us a different room with waterview. Told us if we could come back in a couple hours they would have it ready for us. Came back in a couple hours and the person who showed us the other room had left for the day and we did not get waterview. Spent next few days looking at tour bus and listening to drone sounds from A.C. units below our window. For 380 a night This place has beautiful exterior but inside rooms are dirty and run down. Our bed looked like it came from a storage locker sale, all scraped up
You can do better on the Vineyard, this place is way past its prime and trust me, people who work there DO NOT CARE !

We didn't stay here but you're able to come and grab a drink to sit on the porch and look out on the beautiful views of the beaches and the Edgartown lighthouse. The porch railing is a tad high but the atmosphere is great.

Got engaged at the beginning of our 4 day stay and it was PERFECT. Beautiful hotel, Awesome pool and pool bar, perfect location, easy walk into town, complementary Mercedes vehicles for the guests when available for 3 hrs at a time, complementary bikes all day, lighthouse right across the street, friendly and patient staff. Darlene, the concierge, was phenomenal and helped me plan my proposal which went down without a hitch. Highly recommend this hotel and will definitely be back!

Restaurants and bars recently redone but lack charm and warmth. Very non descript decor and atmosphere. Staff is not as service oriented as you would expect at a hotel of this stature.
Customer service is KEY (specific to bar!! Knowledgeable staff is KEY (specific to bar!!
HVH something to improve upon. I think it's the least ypu can serve up with your $20 cocktails.

Elegant hotel with the best views of the water and Edgartown Lighthouse. Many fond memories here during the 1970s to the 1990s, including playing "Kings in the Corner" in the lounge with my grandmother!

One of the managers, Zachary, was warm and helpful to our stay at the hotel. I had been in contact with him about having some food and beverages in the room prior to us arriving. The hotel was very accommodating and the room was clean and inviting. Would definitely come back!

Hotel handled group luggage badly, causing a long delay in getting items to guests. An entire wing had no ac but that didn't keep them from trying to put us in there. Lack of attention to detail is also a problem.

This hotel was so disappointing. If you like outdated dirty rooms, 80 percent humidity, damp stiff sheets, the smell of mold, and a TV that only televises snow then this is the place to stay. When we walked into our room the smell of mold nearly knocked us off our feet. Tried to air out the room by opening the slider to our room, however, the stench was no better out there. We looked up and saw black mold all over the eve overhanging the patio. We called down to the front desk for a dehumidifier and shockingly they had one. They brought it up along with a fan and also sent up a technician to fix our TV. He was able to fix the TV and the dehumidifier did work well. Although my son ended up dumping the water 3 times in about 4 hours. With that said, the staff at the hotel were extremely pleasant and helpful. Darlene in Conceirge was so incredibly nice and attentive. She wanted to make sure our stay would be fun and booked us a full island tour with an awesome tour guide , Bob, with 2 days notice that we were coming. The tour was great and afterwards we went to the pool which was really nice. The views from the front of the hotel are gorgeous and the location is perfect. Leaving the hotel, we were told it would undergo a renovation this winter so I would suggest staying away until that's complete.

What's great about this place is just hang it out on the porch watching the moon rise eating lobster rolls drinking margaritas and eating clam chowder.

This is the largest hotel on the vineyard and it's also getting quite ridiculous cost-wise it used to be reasonable but this time to really gouge now.

They have the best pancakes ever, authentic buttermilk and all the other food is excellent to but you're going to pay and what do you expect it's Martha's Vineyard.

If you have never went to the vineyard you will love this place it's classic MV.

. The best lobster rolls I've ever eaten are on the North Shore in Essex Mass at Essex C Food which is closed now cuz of covet.

If you ever go there you have to make it a day or a weekend trip and also stay at the little red house at Good Harbor Beach.

We are the regulars to their Sunday brunches and Holiday dinners of the hotel restaurants.
Their foods are consistently solid and on the higher quality, and pleasant variety without pompous tricks other venues tend to allure you with, often I find very amateurish and disappointing. That is not the case here.

Very pampering experience each time.
Not many places welcome you like they do on this island.

Cindy is the center of all the magic and her restaurant crews finally teamed up to be one.

I hope the new owner hopefully recognizes all the good efforts the manager and the staff are putting in.

And, we appreciate the connected community feel of the place - loved by the good year-round residents on the island, too.

We booked the babymoon package with this hotel. This package included a photo shoot, a teddy bear, a onesie, free breakfast, and a prenatal massage. We were charged for each meal at breakfast, they did not have the teddy bear or onesie(but said they were mailing it to us. This was a month ago), and they charged us for the massage. We were able to arrange the photo shoot. However, that was after we E-mail the concierge three times(we were told they have only 2 concierge this summer so that they cant read every E-Mail). We then called and spoke with the concierge and were promised a call back in the next 30 minutes once she schedules a time for the photo shoot. We called back an hour later to be informed that she had left for the evening. We were finally able to call and speak to somebody at the front desk who finally got her to schedule it for us(not when we wanted, but I dont think I can complain).

The hotel is absolutely GORGEOUS, but the service is in need of a LOT of improvement.

This Hotel is EXTREMELY welcoming! As soon as I walked in, I was immediately friendly greeted by Sebastian. He even had hair product available when I was in a pinch for my Cousins Wedding that was being hosted here!
Thank you again Sebastian. You made me feel at home :))

Beautiful hotel with scenic view overlooking the ocean. Perfect place to stay on Martha's Vineyard. The hotel is in the upscale area of Edgarstown and not far from all of the shops and stores in downtown Edgarstown. I would recommend Edgarstown as THE place to stay on Martha's Vineyard. It is quaint, quiet, clean. And it is not far from Oaks Bluff where there is more activity and nightlife if that is something desired. The view from the Harbor View hotel is why it is called Harbor VIEW. Beautiful and second to none.

I attended a luncheon fundraiser here. Beautiful location, view, venue, and grounds. Was pleased to learn that they intend to do some upgrades to accommodate more attendees. I realize that they must depend desperately on seasonal staff when I requested coffee 4 times, and still didnt receive it. Overall, an excellent venue in a landmark hotel.
