All Veterans joining fees are waived and we enjoyed a 10% discount certainly a added benefit in the community in which we serve.
A great place to work out the staff is outstanding they help you and answer questions you may have.
I love the classes Janni teaches. She uses a wide variety of exercises to target ALLLL my muscles. She's upbeat and encouraging, and has a very strong focus on good form to prevent injury.
Very large facility with pool, free weights, static weights, crossfit gear and more. Staff was very friendly when I went there but their finances coordinator dosent return calls. Decent facility If you can get a membership.
Wonderful part of the Salem Family. Great workout facility. Fun classes for younger kids.
Amazing facility. Nicer than ALL of the other gyms in the area. The woman that wrote the complaint below needs to go find herself a bottle of xanax. I have NEVER received poor customer service at this location. Every time I have EVER needed help with anything, all of the staff there have always politely helped me. Every time I have ever seen the staff interact with anyone else they have always been polite as well. The machines are nice. The pool is nice. The classes are nice.
Nice gym with a lot of equipment and free weights. They offer quite a variety of group classes for everyone.
Great gym
And Great valley ball team
Love working out at this gym its 5mins away. Staff is friendly clean facility.
They need to evaluate their pool safety. We went to a swim meet here and the air quality was absolutely unacceptable. Most of the swimmers present were complaining of dizziness and nausea because of the high chlorine levels and many were having issues with asthma. Absolutely Unacceptable.
Lovely location with great views out workout room and pools. Poor ab machine choice. Nice hot sauna, clean locker room, great pool, though bromine would be great.
Nice facility with a friendly staff. Very-family oriented with lots of activities for kids and adults. There's a special playroom called "Y-Town" that regularly changes so there's always something new for kids to explore. Perfect way for young kids to spend a cold, winter day. The family pool is also really nice for young ones. The pool is sloped so even babies can enjoy the water without going too deep, but expands to 10 feet deep so swimmers can still jump into the water.
Fabulous facilities, top notch. The staff is extremely helpful and very friendly.
The YMCA is probably the best deal in town! The staff is so good that they rate right up there with Chic-Fit-A in customer service. The childcare is excellent. The staff interacts with the children leading crafts and games the whole time the children are in care. Y-town is one of my 4-year-olds favorite places to go. Parents' night out is a great deal, and the kids love it! The family pool is fun and a great place for a very affordable birthday activity. My favorite place is the wellness center, which is very well-equipped with helpful and friendly staff! There is so much equipment that I almost never have to wait.
My kids have swimming lessons here and they love it
Great place amazing staff especially in the child care area
We love this place lots to do and everyone is so nice
May be moving to he area and i use a y in anoher state and will definitely need ine here
As a member I enjoy the company of others. Outstanding job on last AOA luncheon, with plenty of food.
This is the best YMCA gym and family center in the Roanoke area.
Great staff!! They beat the Roanoke YMCA
hands down.
Very clean and well-kept my wife and I enjoyed our visit
It is a pleasure to work out at this YMCA. I like the Expresso bikes, the ellipticals, the tvs positioning, the lively music, the friendly staff and patrons and the overall cleanliness of this Y.
This is a friendly and safe place for the entire family!
If the y closes at 6pm then they shouldn't be turning off the lights at 5:55, its dangerous at the least. If they want to provide less hours of operation then change the schedule.
The Salem YMCA is a great place to work out and have fun in group fitness classes.
Dry sauna, basketball court, weight room with treadmills overlooking the blue ridge mountains, Roanoke valley
Awesome! Huge facility. Lots of great equipment. Two pools. Nice gymnasium.
My sister went here for day camp and she said the where very absolutely abusing and that is not good and also she told me there where very mean and did not let her do anything and I went up there one day while the day camp was going on to go swim and I all I saw where them yelling and being mean to the kids unexceptional
Great place, but I'm sad they ran all the little places out of business. That's what Federal money can do I guess....
I love that they offer cooking classes for kids. REALLY wish that kirk had a way to do this since its closer to my house. The pool is tiny which is saddening. I wish there was an outdoor pool in the summer.
Offers many workout options while maintaining clean/safe facility
Safe and welcoming environment, where there are lots of activities for adults and kids alike!
Great people, great classes! I look forward to my time at the Salem YMCA. When my daughter and her family visit, they love to go to the Y. They are Y members in their hometown and appreciate that they can use the Salem Y.
Huge gym fantastic equipment great cardio workouts multiple Studios for classes large pool very clean in both the gym and the locker room
Clean, efficient, well-equipped facility with many options to get you a good workout every time you visit.
I only gave this 5 stars so that it would be read, I did not love it, infact, I hated my experience. Less than friends staff specifically the young man at the front desk named Matt S. he told me him self to go ahead and file as many complaints as I wanted on him, and so I shall. Yes I was angery and yes I had an attitude, but I do believe anyone who has had $105 taken out of their bank account for the last 2 month's when in fact it was only suspose to be $80 would be angery. When I ask for a manager and am told he is the "highest up" and could help me, when infact he was NOT a manager, and after 5 solid minutes of argument he finally gave me a card so that I may call the manager "tomrrow between 10 and 6" !! Pathetic excuse for customer service. I have a signed agreement for $80 a month not $105 yet my refund will have to be "negotiate".... not mention, the basketball gym is filthy, the hallways are less then monitored as there has been several occurrences of my self being approached by a Strang man whom insist upon touching my shoulders/hands and not an employee to be seen to ask for hel, because they are all at the front desk giggling, laughing and flirting with each other or playing on their cell phones. The daycare, well that's a joke as my 3 year old daughter was literally yelled at for crying, because she didn't understand why she couldn't go play with"blocks" (<leggos) with her big sister and if it hadn't been for my 8 year old being there I'd have never know it happened. But no kot a 5 star facility more like a negative 5.
A wonderful, friendly, welcoming asset to our community! The staff and facility are great! The Y provides great options for exercise, recreation, and family fun. They work well with other orgainzes in the community to make Salem and the neighboring areas better.
Clean and friendly facility with good swimming arrangement, sauna and soft gym floor. Enjoyable pickleball group.
I've been a member of this Y for quite a few years. The instructors are friendly and helpful. There is a great selection of class offerings, and the weight room has a wide variety of equipment. The facilities are great for walking, but there is not an indoor running track. (There is a great loop to run outside around the Y.)
I do wish they opened earlier on the weekends as I am a Messianic Jew who worships on Saturday. The Y opens at 7:30 on Saturday (5 am on weekdays) and 1 on Sunday.
This facility has a warm and cool pool and a sauna.
I've been working out here for the past 9 months after switching from another local gym. The facility is clean, and I really like that patrons are permitted to use the studios when not in use (as long as they clean up after themselves). The other YMCAs in the area don't allow this, so it's something I appreciate. 4 stars due to the lack of friendliness on behalf of *most* staff in the Wellness Center (front desk staff are always friendly). Matt is the only one I've noticed who goes out of his way to acknowledge guests and does so with a big smile on his face. Most of the others just stand at the desk, avoid eye contact, and don't acknowledge anyone. I'm not new to the gym environment, but imagine if I were? I would be extremely intimidated to approach some of the employees here. Making eye contact or a simple smile goes a long way.
Great facility, friendly helpful staff, wide variety of classes, great instructors, and an awesome selection of weights and machines! Heated family and lap pool. And those are just the things I use, the facility has even more to offer.
Great place, as expected, nice facility with pools.
I love the atmosphere of friendliness at the Y. The Zumba classes make me move and get my daily steps on my activity tracker.
I love the instructor Karen Cole who teaches at the salem YMCA. She gives great motivation and really engages with the group. Her work outs are never boring and she invest the time and energy to make sure we are getting the best. She keeps me coming back to the YMCA even when I've considered going elsewhere. Her energy and motivation is hard to come by.
They(the staff) are always great to myself and family when we come into the facility. I enjoy going!
Typical Y location. Not bad per se. Just not great.
The staff is always so helpful and kind and caters to your specific needs. The only think holding you back is YOU.
We love taking our 2 yr old son here and its just a great thing for the family . Specialy rainy days or just to hot or to cold days . Perfect place
