Awesome experience. Very welcoming staff. Great venue, with a visit.
Awesome experience. Very welcoming staff. Great venue, with a visit.
One of our favorite wineries in Napa/Sonoma. Great grounds and excellent wine. The tour is a ton of fun.
Went for a wine tasting on my birthday and as a surprise my wife's friend set us up in a private tasting room. The grounds are absolutely beautiful and the floor to ceiling windows really brings the outside it. All the wines are delicious, the staff is beyond friendly and touring the grounds was fun too. Tip - Be sure to check out the bathroom.
Loved the art on property and the wine but the tour lacked the "quaint and lovely" Napa feel. Just a bit more rushed and impersonal.
Positively delicious wines. This is the place for you if you love big, bold reds! The grounds themselves are really beautiful, with tons of outdoor space and a great vibe.
Michaela is amazing and so knowledgeable. Went for a tasting and loved getting to know the history of the vineyard. Beautiful property and artwork everywhere. Favorite wine was the Kathryn Hall. Thanks for making our experience so fun and enjoyable.
I recently attended a very expensive function for a certain presidential candidate, and I must say the atmosphere, wine and hors d'oeuvres were as rich and bountiful my fellow billionaires' bank accounts.
Crystal gleaming walls surrounded a professional greeter in a classy place. We all had free 4 bottle wine flights with military ID. Extremely generous, definitely recommend.
The comfort the quality BEST EVER
Open for the whole family
Beautiful location, friendly staff, and lovely wine.
Amazing experience! Our tour guide (Paul) was very knowledgeable and passionate...would highly recommend.
Julia was such a fun hostess then Camron taught us not only about wine, but how to enjoy it!! Seriously a MUST if you're just coming through Napa like we were!
Incredible building! Amazing wines! We sat outside and enjoyed our wines, only going back inside to get our next tastings. We spent about an hour and a half there and had a great time
Beautiful winery/tasting area. Our group was taken into the barn for a tour and the lower level for the wine tasting in August if 2017. Celeste was very knowledgeable about the wines and patient with our questions. This winery has some spectacular wines.
Excellent reds. Very nice tour. Many great fellow people in your group. No pressure to buy too much but very easy to buy if you like. World class cabs some of the best I ve ever had that go head to head with $500 wines from France but these are only $100 to $150 a bottle. Very high quality. Friendly service who put me on an early tour. I may join their wine club if I can get out of the sleaze trap at another winery.
Beautiful view from the second floor balcony...but that's it! We had 4 people in our party and we all agreed, the wine was awful. Our wine steward provided rehearsed "kitchy" stories that were extremely boastful about the family - especially Kathryn...Kathryn the Great. Save your money and visit some of the wonderful boutique wineries where you can chat with down to earth owners and sip amazing wines.
For big California Cabs come to Hall winery. Not only are their wines wonderful, the tasting room and grounds are beautiful and modern. The staff are knowledgeable and not pretentious. Take their Hallmark tour to learn about the history of the winery and grounds while tasting examples of their wines. Enjoy!
We let them "win". I refused to leave until someone at least acknowledged us in the tasting room full of staff. My husband kept insisting they didn't want our money and we should leave. We were willing to spend money and join the club like we had at other wineries earlier and I thought, "Surely, they want money."
The first staff member we came in contact with was on her cellphone(I was willing to look past this because my husband and I both own businesses and employees have a hard time departing from their cell phones). However, it seemed to be the mentality of the place. We waited at the tasting room bar for 20 minutes and then left. No one seemed to care. We will not buy Hall wines at liquor stores and we will be sure to tell our friends.
Beautiful wines, amazing historical property and a friendly staff! What more can you ask for?
Good wines bad attitude. I was invited in by a group of gentlemen and escorted out when they needed private time to talk business. Won't ever go back to this saint Helena winery again.
Phenomenal winery and phenomenal wine! Loved all the art and how there's so much history here. It's pricey, but absolutely incredible wine. Highly recommend!
Review based on experience can't speak to the wines as I stood at the bar for quite a while and wasn't given service.
Awful! We were just in today for a tasting and they were unwilling to accommodate my husband who has a physical disability. When I asked to speak to the manager, I was told that "the manager was not available. I have NEVER experienced such blatant discrimination. If I could give zero stars, I would
COOL COOL COOL COOL Winery. The random artwork selects around the grounds and in the tasting rooms really add to the whole experience.
$50 tasting fee (which we didn't do). They won't sell a bottle of wine so you can enjoy on premise. They did offer a glass of white wine which was nice. The gal who greeted us was very friendly.
Nice place, a bit high priced but great view. Just FYI- the bathrooms are really odd, painted entirely red.
Very modern winery thats filled with contemporary art work. Lovely grounds that you can stroll and enjoy the views
What a beautiful place with delicious wines! We especially love the people, Joego and Brenda, up front who greeted us with such hospitality and fun!
While the wine was good the experience in the winery was poor. Our host Tom (or ted..he did not have a name tag) was really sarcastic in an angry way. Would have really liked to learn about the wine without the bitter sarcasm. Grounds were pretty but over crowded.
Probably one of my top #2 in wines and tasting experiences. We went to 13 wineries in 3 days - so we have a lot to compare to. Beautiful location, some of the best views in the Napa Valley, and fabulous wines. Wine club was a bit pricey for the wines, I felt. But that didn't stop us from shipping 6 bottles home!
Incredible cabs! A definite must see if you are in St. Helena!!
A very nice and fancy place. A bit too fancy and expensive for my tastes. The wine was good, but not at a level higher than nearby wineries with more reasonable costs.
The best wines I tasted in my whole trip (10+ wineries of California and Oregon)! The tasting was I bit more expensive than most of the wineries, but it was worth it.
If you re not a member, you are stuck standing while watching all the members having a nice time with lounge seats. Also, there were empty lounge seats everywhere so if you re not a member I do not recommend even coming for a $40 tasting to stand around while watching others having a better time.
I have been buying Hall wine for several years, but had never visited the winery. We finally made it to St. Helena and I arrived at Hall without a tour reservation but they were great to fit us in. Had a fantastic tasting with Lauren - really great experience with her!
Where things went wrong? We purchased some wine ($325 worth) and were told it would be shipped to us. Every other winery we visited and bought wine at shipped their wine within 1-2 weeks.
It has been 2 months and nothing. No communication. I emailed Lauren, and I know this is not her fault, but was advised it would be coming soon. Still waiting.... I would really like to replace my 3 star review with a 5 star review for how good Lauren was as a tour host. Everyone LOVED her. But, if we pay for goods, why haven't we received them?
Just a great experience sitting in rear tasting area & soaking up some fine wine with the great scenery.
They do NOT have a permit for picnic grounds on their property just FYI. The winery is beautiful though, a modern grandiose feel to it if you like that kinda thing.
Stunning tasting room overlooking the Napa valley. Their wines are incredible of you like big Cabs.
Good wines, pricey. $40 tasting (even if you buy a bottle) nice artwork on the grounds, and inside.
We came with 4 of us after visiting 2 other wineries. Our host Eric was incredibly knowledgeable and extremely personable
. Good info on the history of hall and Napa as well Highly recommend asking for him as a host.
The wine tasting happens in a beautiful modern building with many beautiful art pieces. The basic wine tasting is on the higher end of prices ($40/person) but the wine quality and ambience are well worth your dollars.
I was so excited to visit after I read the book, The Perfect Score. What a disappointment. Cameron, our host, lacked enthusiasm and at one point said, I don t really care if you guys buy anything or not. Then mentioned he has family with wineries. Just had a certain air about him and wasn t enthusiastic about his job. Had no passion for the winery. Was just spewing out memorized lines. The experience would, hopefully, be 10x better if the host showed some interest! We visited end of day and it was quite loud in the tasting room. I would imagine it would be better to visit in the morning.
Stunning grounds. Lovely staff. Delicious wines. No regrets.
Love, Love, Love the grounds, Art and structures! I haven t done a wine tasting, so I can t speak to that. But I m going to do a tasting some day soon and my guess is that it s will be outstanding!
Beautiful vineyard, excellent wines, friendly staff.
One of the best wineries in the Napa area, service and tastings were wonderful. Special thanks to friend Alberto.
Arrived at 430pm. Staff attitude was disconnected and cold. Location feels cold and cooperate. Buildings looked like they were designed by the modernists from Beetlejuice.
Very pretty setting. Tasting is $40 without a tour. When I was there it was very crowded so I didn't get much attention nor much of a chance to ask questions. Had to wait so they gave me a nice glass of white to drink while I waited which was nice. Tasted 5 red wines. Generous pour. All priced from $65 to $175 a bottle. Their wine is very good.
Busy, corporate, and expensive. Maybe if we got to try the wines we'd understand the craziness, but decided there's other wineries that we could spend our time at.
Great wines with a hefty price tag. Good stuff but not for everyone. Cabs from $150-$275... Good price for tastings though
Ridiculous. Amazing grounds and experience, and phenomenal wine!
Absolutely Fantastic! Stop in and taste some amazing wines. Thank you for being kind to a military couple. Celeste, worked with us in the public tasting room and was without a doubt the nicest person we have meet in Napa! Our favorite stop of the trip and beautiful grounds.
Gorgeous property pouring both Hall and Walt wines. Reservations required.
For the sophisticated wine tasting experience, Go here.this is it! They have the best wine I ve ever tasted anywhere on the planet!
This "THANK YOU" is especially for EDWARD LEE.
My name is David and I grew up in the Bay area. He was accomodating
from the moment we walked in.
Explained every wine perfectly. BRAVO EDWARD!
Thank you for spending your time with us. I did also join there wine club, since I enjoy there wines so much.
Joan was our tour guide and she did a great job. She walked us around the grounds and explained the art pieces throughout. We were able to have a private tasting in an old barn house that was immaculate inside. Plenty of pours to go with the marcona almonds, fruit, and cheese plate.
The $125 Kathryn Hall was amazing and $27 T Bar T sauvignon blanc held its own just as well!
Rigo was excellent. Love the history. Love the wine!
Wonderful location. Unique and delicious wine. Friendly atmosphere. Very, very stylish. The design and art pieces worth it to visit this place. That is a double pleasure to taste the great wine in such a nice place and artistic atmosphere. The selection of plants delivers genuine pleasure. You can touch it, smell it. The waterfall, artistic pano, and selection of artworks provide additional reasons to visit this place.
Hall Wines is a beautiful property, and offers tastings of one of the best wines in Napa, if not the world. The 2nd floor tasting area offers spectacular views of the vineyard. Be sure to make a reservation for tastings, as spacing is limited due to COVID.
Without a doubt the best cabernets in Napa Valley. Walt Pinot noirs are also second to none. The winery is amazing and the People Are Awesome
Did the Platinum Cabernet experience and it was the chance taste some truly epic wines. Always fun to see what art Kathryn and Craig have put into the vineyard as well.
This is BY FAR my favorite winery in Napa. The grounds are beautiful, with spectacular art (sculptures especially) all over the grounds. Some great history on the grounds, and a beautiful architectural style as well. The wine is great too!
Always spectacular wines. The customer service is excellent and the property is gorgeous.
One of our favorite wineries in the area. Great location and easy to find.
The perfect place to visit. Great location, scenic views, and superb wine. Very generous pours of the higher end wines they offer. Best bang for the buck. I would recommend doing the tour since you get a barrel tasting and learn more about the winery. If i were to guess why this is not rated better on Google Reviews it is because the vibe is more trendy/modern/millennial and the wines are more Silver Oak esque than Inglenook (less of the old world taste)
Really beautiful building. Great art. Good wine (red heavy) but the story (as given by our guide) was rushed and disconnected. I never felt connected and based on that, wouldn t return. Maybe it was an off day, but I think being able to connect is as important as any other aspect of a winery.
The building and views are lovely. The wine is on the big/fruit side, with high alcohol in tow. Smooth tannins.
One of the best wineries in town. Make an appointment and be served some of the best wines made in Napa
We have been big Hall fans and their wines are fantastic, so it pains me to say I am not a fan of the new St. Helena tasting room/tour experience. The "barrel" tasting was nothing more than 1 barrel in the corner of the newly opened Bergfeld building. When I mentioned the previous barrel tasting when we had a comparison, I was told they wanted to save space. While the new facility is state of the art, it has transformed from a place to experience great wines into an art showcase and event center. Very disappointed....
We scheduled a tour and tasting at HALL. The grounds and winery were beautiful. I was pretty drunk from the winery before but I think I remember the wine being good too... Our tour guide Ray I'm STILL laughing about. He was super nice but I've never met someone that could talk so much. He would ramble on monologue-style for 20 minutes in the same spot without taking a breath or asking anyone a question. I kept shuffling my feet and clearing my throat to give him a clue like okay dude let's move on. If I was an old person I would have passed out standing there. He would glance at me confused why I was interrupting and then keep rambling. On multiple occasions, I thought "Are we being punk'd? Is he waiting for someone to say something? Is he just making this stuff up?" The tour was also pretty salesy - 50% of it felt like we were on a wedding venue tour. Eventually I tuned him out and just enjoyed the artwork and scenery. I wish we had time afterward to hang out WITHOUT Ray (lol) and enjoy some wine on the grounds, but they closed as soon as the tour was over. Skip the tour and just come for a tasting or to hang out.
Hall Wines has the best collection of dry reds in Napa Valley in my opinion. The collection of cabernets from different regions in the Napa Valley are all distinctive and first class. Then go to Sonoma to the sister winery Walt and enjoy world class pinot noir's. Love Hall Wines, the tasting room atmosphere and art are the worth the experience by themselves.
I've drunk too much, don't listen to me. Good wine though.
Hall Wines is so much different from other vineyards in Napa.
Modern architecture. Art around the vineyard. Planting of their own vegetables. And delicious red vino, from the glass, bottle, or barrel.
I had an amazing time here, with the fall sun setting above the grape fields, our knowledgeable host explaining the rich history of the vineyard, and a private tasting of their more expensive bottles. What more can you ask for.
Best compliment - that visit turned me into a red wine enthusiast.
Top 5 favorite places to visit when in wine country. Great for art lovers too.
Very nice place you can visit it, for a tour and taste
The tasting room, building, and grounds were amazing. My girlfriend and I split a $40 tasting of 5 or 6 wines, the majority being Bold Cabs which we enjoyed. The wines ranged from $45-185/bottle and all tasted great. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. This was one of the more expensive wineries we visited but it was definitely worth it.
Fantastic tasting, generous and knowledgeable staff. Probably the best architecture and grounds in Napa, great place to bring a picnic and watch the scenery.
My favorite winery on the tour! The art was incredible, our guide was great, the wines impeccable and the grounds stunning. Definitely on my list to revisit.
