Great Brew selection and the smothered burrito is one of the best.
Hale's Ales has some of the BEST burgers in Seattle. Their truffle burger, and beechers burger are the leaders of the pack.
Been here several times. Food is good, beer is good, but tonight (01/11/20 6:30pm) the bartender was terrible.
I went up and asked to try a beer. She said "sure" and then poured me a full beer and charged me. I handed her my card and told her to keep the tab open, she cashed me out.
Did the exact same thing to my friend behind me.
I won't be order a beer next time if she's working.
Good beer and food, and you might even bump into Mike Hale.
Was at back hall of place, eceletic to say the least
Cool, small brewery with a good viewing area of the brewing action. We just had one point as a break while walking the Burke-Gilman Trail, which was perfect.
Beers have always been okay and have memories of this place being good. Seems there is too much competition for them now. Stopped in today and almost no one there. Weird food and tap ordering system and peiple working there seemed clueless. They have beers available in the, fridge case, but wont allow you to consume them onsite. I am sure its not their issue, but just one of many oddities there. We didnt stay as fhere are way too many bustling places with better options.
I'm been here a few times, and each time they have had good service and good food. The food isn't the reason to come though (it's just average), all the cool brewing machinery is.
Run of the mill diner type food. We had items off of their brunch menu. The maple sausage gravy and biscuits we're good. Service was ok.
Awesome open atmosphere and wonderful ice cold beverages
Great local brew pub. Inexpensive 6 packs ($6.99) to take home with you.
Big space, homey feel.
Hales is fun - wine selection is nothing special (no surprise), beer is pretty good (from what I know) and food is decent. And often not super crowded or super noisy - if you want to have an actual conversation with another person. And none of the hyper-typical annoying music, at least what I could hear.
Do need 2 cable channels though.
Stopped by for lunch. It was a bit expensive but extremely quick and very nice inside.
Toured Hales with a great group of people on the Road Dogs Seattle Brewery Tour. The place is clean, the staff are friendly, knowledgeable, and good-looking. The beer is pretty awesome too! Not sure about food offerings, my bad I was into the brewing process and tasting the product.
Typical pub food and good beers. Nothing fancy but it tastes good.
Good decent food. Pleasant atmosphere. Cream Ale is pretty much the best beer ever.
Great ales brewed inside the pub - great burritos also
The beer here is pretty good-- the cream ale especially!--but the room itself is a really average bar feel. A kind of respite if you're tired of the hipster craft beer scene, but nothing special to make you want to stay there and hang out.
Fun venue for local bands and magic shows. They have a little concession stand and beer/soda. Kinda run down. Pretty perfect.
Nice beers and Frank ollivier's twisted cabaret was terrific!
Don't care for the changes. Beer is decent, but I wanted a burger and that's just not possible any more.
It was hot here in seattle and hales has a nice air conditioner. Parking is limited but there is a fred Meyers close by that has plenty of parking. They also share the kitchen with a mexican restaurant/food truck that is to die for. I had a steak burrito and a shrimp taco and i was not let down. The atmosphere is great the staff are friendly. Over all a great place that serves its purpose very well. I had the coconut stout.
Happy hour prices, pleasant ambience, attentive staff and close to my house
The tacos from 3 to 6 p.m. weekdays are a dollar fifty each and delicious.
Great beer and great food! I love being in the brewery itself.
Good beer. Good Mexican truck food. No defined atmosphere. Nitro beer selection is above average.
Cut food and beverage service so far back it's no fun. Big empty space with no energy.
Great venue with plenty of space. Has hosted plenty of great SOR shows.
Really nice atomosphere and the food is good. Appreciate the separation between games and lounging as well.
If you stop serving food, be responsible and get the menu taken off of Google!...Maybe even hang a big sign on the entrance boldly proclaiming "No longer serving delicious food". The few overpriced reheated leftovers that your new 'menu' consists of were extremely disappointing, especially when you're out of half of them by dinner time. More of an oversized tap room than a pub, despite your name.
I tried two beers (a saison and a nitro stout), and two different meals (the pulled pork and fish & chips). The beers were great and the food was very good as well. The fish and chips were fried in a pan or on a griddle which was a nice surprise. The setup of the restaurant was inviting and comfortable. I can't wait to go back and try on of the other nitros or their barrel aged stuff.
A Frelard pillar. Longest running independent brewery in all of Seattle.
Good old-world and new - world beer. well balanced pub menu. Gluten free options.
A fun place to have a fine hand crafted brew. Quiet and peaceful. But at times wild fun
This brewery ends up feeling a bit sterile. It's brewpub is separated off from its brewery. It's food it pretty lack luster and the beer quality doesn't quite carry it. If I'm just looking for a beer, I usually opt for Bad Jimmy's just down the street, but if you are hungry too then this place will do. Being right off the Burke Gilman does score it some points tho!
Liked the food and atmosphere but the 70 disco music in the background is a turn off.
This used to be a really good brew pub. It is now a "tasting room" with light snacks. Still a warm and welcoming venue with seriously comfortable booths, inviting woodwork and great ambience. Good place for meets & conversation - and a nice selection of brews. Also home to the incomparable Moisture Festival in March & April - you need to check that out.
I've been here with people several times for meetings. I'm not a beer person, but they had really good pizza, meat, and desserts. Today I took my spouse. It took about ten minutes to find parking, and then when we got inside we found the menu had been downsized to taco truck fare. We definitely were looking for something more hearty, so walked back to our car and went to Red Robin. Disappointing and a waste of time.
This place has taken a turn for the worst. No Hales kitchen. No corned beef and cabbage on St Patrick's day. No one there. We had one drink and walked. RIP Hale's Ales!!
Great venue for a magic show! Stale overpriced snacks though.
Enjoyed the drinks and enjoyed the staff. Sandwiches were good also. Look forward to returning again.
Hale's in a great place to stop in and have local brew in the land between Fremont and Ballard, but behind the brewery is Hale's Palladium. Not only is the Moisture Festival put on for a whole month in the spring to give an old-school vaudeville taste to Seattle, but there are wonderful shows that are put on year round that involve aerialists, magicians, jugglers, musicians, acrobats, and comedians from all walks of life. This is a wonderful gem resting just within the Center of the Universe.
Great beer selection and the food was pretty good too! We'll definitely go back to Hale's.
I've been scheduling small (6-10 people) informal committee meetings here and this venue is perfect. The food is excellent, the wait staff is really good about keeping everyone's check separate, and the atmosphere is relaxed but quite enough that everyone can hear one another.
Cool on the inside warm on the outside. Really liked the Cream HSB
We booked out the Banquet Room on the 2nd floor for an all-day event. The food and staff were great. The food was pretty good. I think coming back here for a happy hour would be the ideal way to experience this place.
Great craft brews, socially conscious, and nice food.
The beer was just okay. Food is great. Service and atmosphere is lacking. Not the best brewery in Ballard.
Good beer but no burgers or normal food. Big bummer on lunch break when going for food
I f'ing love their Kolsch. Everything I've ever eaten or drank here had been immaculate. My friend who lives across the street tells me that the bar is officially a tasting room during the day, so families can bring their kids into the bar area. I wish I lived across the street :)
Very nice local brewery with a performing arts stage, The Palladium.
Beer was decent. Food was via a different counter which was strange but plentiful when it came out.
This is a brewery that has a walk through of their production process. The pub is a building within the building and has a truly pub feeling - as if you've walked inside a pub in a small fishing village. Their brews are amazing. I can't recommend the cream ale enough. They also put together community events.
Laid back local brewery with good beer and Mexican food by El Camion
Meh. Better than average, but we are pretty spoiled around here.
The bar has changed. You must go to the counter to order drunks - then move 3 steps to rhe left to order your food. The food was good. The beer was the incorrect size. The waitress bartender was not helpful. I was with some very nice people visiting from out of town. It was sad to see such a great place have such poor service at the bar. Again the food from the truck staff was very good.
Get the burrito it's the biggest thing I've ever seen
Went for the Moisture Festival and had a great time. I'd recommend the Super Goose if you're looking for a nice IPA.
We stopped by unexpectedly and were not disappointed. There are many beers to choose from. My husband loved the El Dazzle Stout. I had the Harvest IPA and it was smooth. The best part of the experience was the food from El Camion. I've never seen a tamale that big and they have mole. There wasn't any fat on the meat, which is a huge turn off for me. Another treat was the chipotle salsa - the smokiest I've ever had. It's so good I took some home. That's saying a lot from a person accustomed to excellent and authentic Mexican food in AZ.
The food was good, the beer was great, but the service was awful. Host spent forever talking to other tables and made us miss the cutoff for brunch, even though we were there in plenty of time to order. Didn't bring us water, brought the wrong food, and generally took a long time to get any sort of help.
Does this photo even need a written review? It's a spicy, pulled pork burrito and a flight of IPAs, go get your own.
Warning... they changed the food menu to only 4 or 5 items (none are good and all overpriced). If you like their beer go, but if you used to go for the food skip it. It used to be our favorite local spot and we're really bummed that the kitchen is gone.
