Drove 6 hours to come to this zoo and it was definitely worth it. I recommend the tour if you guys really want to have fun! I would definitely bring my friends here.
Honestly, I was not satisfied with my trip to this park. The people were very inconsiderate to the visitors. We were told that we would get great pictures with the animals we encountered with, but the quality and quantity was not what we expected. This was my family's second time coming so we expected the same type of visit. I am definitely not recommending this place.
Great experience, animals were great looked clean and well cared for.
I have not been to this place but planning on going tomorrow. I have never been more intrigued by reading reviews as I am reading about this place. Only 5 stars or 1 star. Seriously? What the F is up? Is it a joke? What am I missing. On one hand there are happy families who see well maintained animals and great staff and then on the other terrible conditions and a whack job owner who makes you listen to him sing. I'm going just to see where I fall in the reviews.
It's my opinion that Joe Schreibvogel abuses and mistreats animals for the entertainment of others.
if you're considering going, I'd highly highly recommend it. It was so worth it, especially seeing the animals they had there.
While I won't put down the breeding research as it may prove useful in the future your website and some of your misinformation is absolutely ridiculous. It is very much an uneducational experience. There are zoos, circuses and individuals who exploit animals and you're a pot calling the kettle black.
They do not have the resources to look after these animals
Great time at the Wynnewood Zoo. You can get hands on with the animals
Closer to animals than at a zoo, when or where will you see a tigre, tour is main attraction.
Cons restrooms and distance
The breeding of big cats for the purpose of selling them for profit is already illegal, but it s happening. Making the cubs playthings for the general public should be illegal and we should not support any establishment that participated in either of these unethical activities.
I have a couple of issues with this place. On the outset, it appears to be a wildlife rescue facility, and is described as such by the staff. It doesn't take long to realize that the owner, "Joe Exotic: The Tiger King", wants to be the star of the show here. His images and music videos readily on display, along with signs and merchandise saying "ask to meet the tiger king" and "get an autograph from country music artist Joe Exotic". He has an issue of People magazine on display with his image photoshopped onto the cover. Who? Sorry, we're here to see tigers.
The staff would rather have been at home, or at least somewhere else. Rotten staff that would yell "show some respect!" at children who were talking during the "great tiger king's" oratorical musings on all of the things he has accomplished. The staff had no issues with using foul language around the kids.
The "Endangered Animals Tour" included a camel, a possum, raccoons, a skunk, miniature horses, and a couple of wolves. As expected, plenty of tigers were seen on the tour, and a lemur, but I don't think this tour is aptly-named.
The staff was threatening to confiscate any cameras or cell phones if you were caught taking photos during the tours. There are anti-PETA signs everywhere, so I assume they've had some issues with animal rights activists in the past.
Would I recommend? I would not, unless you're star struck by the opportunity to meet "The Tiger King" himself, save your money and your time.
Have you considered what happens to the cubs once they get too big? Do your research and don't patronize this type of business if you love animals.
My experience with this exotic animal park was horrible to say the least. The animals live in poor conditions and are fed dog and cat food. They even sell bags of animal crackers to children to throw to the animals! Most of the animals are so skinny you can see there bones. The main office smelled like people definitely smoke in the room. I called ahead of time with a few questions and was treated very poorly by staff. When I got there I was treated even worse by staff. I can honestly say I have nothing good to say about G.W. Exotic Animal Park. These people should be punished for the way they treat animals. Use the money your planning to spend on this awful place to go to a real zoo not this greedy cruelty house.
Very nice park , place it s huge and they are very well take care of it. Very nice
Left with mixed feelings. Love the animals, sad they lived in tiny cages with old trashy conditions and seemed stressed. Interesting that so many talk about the owners, Google and research for an interesting story on its history. I spent nearly $600 for 3 for substandard, rude treatment, certainly not "VIP". Hard to get details and operated less than professionally. You'll know from the minute you walk in. What i got for almost $200-a hour 1/2 walk around tour, 1 nice staffer, seeing wild animals up close, limited and hurried touching of big cat cubs, otters, a goat, dog/wolf mixes and ferrets for <5 minutes each, a CD of pics of their choosing (mostly animals by themselves-not my group), good parking, delight in how cute the animals are, slightly "fed"-sort of-a monkey, a camel, and a lion. Also- vague details before booking, a late start, a "guide" who treated us like a mean elementary teacher treats poor kids, no using my own camera on the tour (but sometimes ok just not on the tour I paid $175 for), shown animals I'm allowed to touch them given contradicting, unclear, instructions which I can't possibly follow, confusing guide, talked down to, discouaged from asking questions, sadness and guilt for these animals. Weird rules about you HAVE to put a treat in your mouth up to a camel's mouth. No any other way like a hand! Old signs asking for donations and advertising them everywhere and shabbiness abound. If you like being treated like an stupid, unwelcome child and you can stomach that to pay $$$ to get a chance to limited petting of a tigon, liger, or one of the other cross bred cats, then go. They breed LOTS of the hybrids they say to save endangered animals. Hmmm. Warn your kids you'll get talked down to by some "volunteer" with an attitude. Ours was Katrina. This place has treasures, I hope the animals' lives will improve with a talked about move. I hope my funds helped the animals. You might find another choice than the most expensive tour, but maybe general admission and pay extra for 6 minutes with the cubs.
It is a great place take ur family .2 c the animals .an interact with them if u won't 2 . Two thumbs up
Great park, all animals seem more happy and more loved than at big tiger rescue in florida.
The animals seemed happy and well cared for, however it is not as impressive as it is put out to be. While holding the animals and being so close was fun, there isnt too much interaction. Also, we paid for the pictures and they were so not worth it.
I liked the old owner. He's got my vote. #JoeExotic2020
Most of the cages are empty. Lots of tigers and lions. Few bears and recons. Not worthy to go without Groupon.
There is nothing cute about taking holding and taking photos with what are meant to be wild animals. Shame people actually pay for it.
People should really leave that man alone he loves his animals. Its so easy for someone to criticize another person. Especially when ther doing absolutely nothing at all to help out with these bigcats . Unfortunately thers more tigers in captivity then there is in the wild he's doing the best he can to help out with this bad situation and I think he's doing a great job.
The animals seemed really well cared for and we had fun learning so much about them!
It was really expensive for so many of the interactive activities to not be included in the cost of admission, all the fun things cost even more. Some of the cages could ve been more well kept, but overall I appreciate what they re doing for these animals and understand that, although not ideal conditions, these animals are better off here than in the wild. Just wish it was more affordable because we drove almost 3 hours and didn t even get to touch any of the baby tigers.
Animal abuse all over. Bait and switch on their prices. They will tell you after you pay that photos are not allowed and you have to use their photographers-extra charge. Front desk was rude and not friendly. The animals look very sad, miserable, like prisoners with no rights. Stick to state or city funded zoos. Stand-alone zoos like this cut corners on code and aren t monitored properly with regards to animal health and safety. Also, the previous owner shot 5 tigers. You don t want to fund this place. Wish I could give it zero stars.
Not the best. Very smelly and the animals just look depressed. Couldnt even step into the reptile building because of the horrible smell. The staff were all very nice though.
Very AWFUL. The animals all looked very miserable. we missed the beginning of the tour and were dropped into the middle of the tour. we followed the crowd and came across Joe, the "tiger king" holding a caiman BY ITS NECK. Literally looked like he was strangling the poor animal. people would line up and take photos with the caiman. when it was handed back, he'd grab it by the neck and just hold it there. dangling. that was my first red flag.
next we went into the "wolf cage" where two hybrids live. they're half siberian husky and half wolf. some of the other hybrids were half wolf and half blue heeler.
the place is very very shady. they have armed guards standing at each cage always watching you. first off, why do you need guards with guns?
saw tigers limping around. cages were filthy and muddy. cluttered with various objects.
you're also not allowed to take photos on your phone. they make a silly excuse about it scares the animals. first off, you have a guy following the crowd around who is taking pictures so why can't you? his camera makes noise! so it's okay for them to do it but we can't ? and another guy who is constantly filming you.
at the end of the tour, we all sat around and they brought out 3 snakes and 2 skunks and turtles. the handlers had no idea how to hold the animals. the handlers were.being ordered to make an assembly line and wrap the snakes around people despite their objections. the snakes eventually got agitated and hissed at people. one of the handlers tried to tell Joe that the snake was hissing but he ignored him and DEMANDED that he put the snake around the person. at this point I felt extremely uncomfortable. the snakes also started getting cold. the next handler who was carrying a skunk was giving me a skunk to hold and told me to be gentle with him. Joe was standing behind me and said "you don't need to be gentle with it
it's a damn skunk!" one of the handlers tried returning the animals to their cages but Joe demanded them to bring them back out for photos. the skunks got agitated as well and started biting the handlers. another one of the handlers put pythons around children's necks and left them. it was extremely scary. the handlers would talk amongst themselves and I heard another python has broken ribs and wasn't allowed to be touched and it just sat in the cage.
then they brought the laligers (off spring of a liger and a tiger) out. they were 8 weeks old. one of the ligers just laid down on the ground and one the handlers picked him up and tried to get him to move around and the liger got angry and growled. they pushed them around to make them active. their bragging point was that there are 11 laligers in the world and they have 7 of them but that's not a bragging point because they offer zero conservational value.
if you want to increase the numbers of endangered tigers, you don't go and make it mate with a liger!
Joe barks orders at his employees and they swear a lot and even the employees themselves seem unhappy.
Apparently the animal abuses here are through the roof; keeping animals in tiny cages, cross breeding different species of big cat to produce a hybrid that otherwise would never exist in the wild and has absolutely no conversation value, beating animals, the list goes on. I would advise anyone from coming here, otherwise they will simply keep their greedy game up.
I have to give this place a Four star rating. Ignore all the 1 stars, always. They are whiners or haters. This place was great, overall, and the staff were definitely characters.
Everything looked clean and comfortable for the cats and other animals.
Nice pictures. We looked great! Thanks
For suggestions, I would recommend a few things. First, the snacks. Guys, that was weak. Something healthy, like nuts or fruit would be tight. Second, the slight undertone of being rushed, through the whole experience. One solution would be to boom less people for events. More time for everyone to experience it all.
Lastly, cats will be less willing to plays when they are in the hot sun. People shouldn't write negative reviews about their cat experiences. Each person will have a different perspective. And, you never know with those whiskery wieners.
Place is closed, no animals, no anything really, and there is security on the property but just to see it like you saw on the documentary was awesome
Look up this guy. Bad history of park. Bad history of him. All articles suggest worst possible way to operate this type of facility.
What a wonderful place to see lions, tigers and bears, oh my! Clean property and animal enclosures. These animals are very well taken care of. An unexpected find off of 35 in Oklahoma.
I kindly urge you not to support this facility due to its inhumane treatment of all of its animals. Not only are they kept in cramped, barren cages, devoid of the ability to exhibit natural behaviors, and fed unnatural diets, but they also allow cub petting.
Please note cub petting is an extremely cruel practice. Being torn from their mothers at birth is a torment to both mother and cub. Being used for cub petting and photo ops and physically disciplined to make them more manageable and deprived of sleep is just a miserable life for the cub. But the mistreatment does not end there. The exhibitors need to constantly breed more cubs. When the cubs are too old to pet, they usually end up living in tiny spaces with no mental stimulation, resulting in ever-increasing numbers of big cats living in inhumane conditions.
Please please do your research before contributing and supporting these inhumane practices, which are solely done for a financial benefit.
Really its good park to visit atleast once in lifetime. Lots of tigers and lions to see closely.
Not sure what all the fuss was about. The animals were treated well from what we seen. It was a good time. My kids loved it more that the regular zoo
AMAZINGLY REFRESHING!
Groupon price made this affordable to everyone!
I have heard the bad publicity and reviews....better go see for yourself!
You could be missing out on the best time of your life.

Many memories to be had here.
We will be back!
Thank you Joe and all your staff.
**MY SON WAS HAPPY WITH BEING ABLE TO PET THE BABY TIGER AND WOLVES BUT *THAT IS ALL YOU'LL ACTUALLY PET* YOU CANNOT TAKE PICTURES YOU CANNOT HOLD THEM AT ALL ** NO ONE GIVES YOU ANY INFORMATION ON WHAT EXACTLY IS GOING TO GO ON DURING THE TOUR HOW MANY ANIMALS YOU WILL PET NOR HOW MANY PICTURES YOU USUALLY HAVE TAKEN MY CD HAD PICTURES OF EVERYONE IN THE TOUR WITCH IS NOT EXACTLY WHAT I WANTED TO PAY FOR $30.00. MY SON LOVED THE TIGER THAT WAS ALL BUT THERE IS A LOT A LOT OF ROOM FOR IMPROVEMENT IN ALL THE ASPECTS STARTING WITH STAFF RUDENESS FROM THE VERY BEGINNING TO END ( NOT THE CAMERA LADY, THE TOUR LADY FROM MINNESOTA AND FRONT DESK LADY WITH I DON'T CARE ATTITUDE ) TO LACK OF HONESTY, LACK OF ORGANIZATION AND LACK OF ANIMAL CARE. IF YOU CARE TRULY CARE ABOUT THESE ANIMALS START IMPROVING IT ALL. THANK YOU AND GOD BLESS YOU ALL.
Great folks. Very helpful and informative. Prices are good. The basic tickets get you plenty of animal action. We had a great time!
Love to see exotic animals only thing most of them looked depressed you can tell they're all used to a daily routine it's like their robots
Incredible. We got to see tigers closer than any place we've ever been! You stand behind a very short fence maybe 2 n half feet from the main enclosures.
Got to play with a baby tiger!!!!!! for way less than you'd think it would cost!!!!!!!!!
I don't understand why some people complain that they are laying around. What do tigers, or any cats, do at other zoos.? They are cats!! Plus it's hot outside! Would you want to be up and running around when it's over a hundred degrees outside? Regardless we saw some up and being active.
I am returning in a month to take my friend.
Call ahead and ask questions. That goes for anywhere but hey it's just a reminder.
Daughter and son n law took me here for my xmas present. AMAZING.........
Took my kids here and it was the worst most boring and sad experience we've ever had in a zoo, they say it has over 200 large cats yet there's hardly anything to see and these animals looked miserable, there's no clear marked paths on where to go it's a guessing game, we walked past an area where people were sitting and there were animals out being showed, we stood back aways to watch for a minute before moving on and got told we had to leave that area because it was a private showing, yet it was in the middle of an open and public area, my kids wanted to play in the sandbox area with the toys and couldn't because of the private showing. We will never go there again it's a waste of money and time!
it was good till jeff lowe stepped into the picture
This place is closed even though it says open 1 out of 5 stars would not recommend.
An ok type of zoo..visited with family and kids enjoyed the tiger visit and finally holding the baby tiger in hand...but after the visit was a bit scared about the safety of the visitors given that there were more than 10 tigers just separated by a thin fence.. was a bit sketchy as well with the owner's story of many alligators getting killed by a fire in the zoo.
The animals need bigger spaces, and parking is atrocious. But the staff is amazing and extremely knowledgeable on their lifeform.
It was beautiful People are overly sensitive, wbu come to parks if you have an issue with zoos
I personally had the most amazing time and all the animals seemed well cared for.
The love that they have for the animals is phenomenal !!!!!
Half of the animals were contagiously depressing but at least I ve seen such animals up close
You have to ask? I was fortunately(?) one of the last few thru the doors before it closing for good. Just hope these animals get taken care of properly.
Close the place down! Transfer the cats and other animals to other facilities.
Lots of Big cats. Staff seems knowledgeable and friendly.
Everyone giving bad reviews, probably believe's Carole Baskin is also innocent. Smh, these people do great things for these cats.
My family LOVED it. I have a five year old daughter and two sons 11 and 13. We all had a blast. You can get so close to lions, tigers and, bears. The ligers are huge and beautiful. The Fort Worth zoo has nothing on this place. The owner who runs this place knows a lot about these amazing aimals. They are well cared for. I saw some bad reviews tha state "the animals are sick and sleep all the time and it smells". Big cats sleep alot durning the day of couse some of them will be laying in the sun resting durning the day. Its a zoo its not going to smell like roses. If you want to see fancy inclosers this is not the zoo for you. If you want to get up close to amazing endanged animals you will love this place. We will diffently go back again.
I visited the animal park last week and they had plenty of tigers that are really good and not much animals to play with. The tour was all about tigers mostly and the play time was worth the trip and the tiger cub and the wolf was very cute among them all... There is no restaurants or any food courts inside the park, so if you are visiting with kids, its advisable to carry your own water and snacks. Its worth it for one time, and more than that will be boring to see the same tiger in the tour.. We are not allowed to take pictures during the tour and the CD which we received was of poor quality photos, it was highly disappointing and they could've checked it before handing it over to us, but it was good that they accepted to provide us with free tour, but got to plan for it again which is slightly frustrating amidst the busy work schedule. Overall, it is a decent place worth it for the first time, and kids will enjoy the play time with animals which included kinkajou (honey bear), lemur, wolf, iguana ( i think it is iguana, or maybe something similar), monkey, tiger cub and picture with horned owl...
Right off the highway coming into Oklahoma City, literally a four minute dr off the exit. See where Joe Exotic stormed in and out of his shop and walked down the isles of cages. If you watched the show it s a must go see. They had a white Tiger when closed we took a peek over the fence at the time, about two weeks ago.
If you like supporting the inhimane treatment of wild animals just to get some great photos then sure, this is the place for you.
Better off going to tiger safari or the okc zoo, where your money actually goes towards the animals and their conservation.
Beautiful animals like this should NOT BE kept like this.
Good experience of holding several animals. It was fun. Lots of tiger, lion, liger,. Reception staff could be more friendly.
You've got to see it to believe it. Very interesting people and over 250 big cats!!
No stars! I googled them before going and on Wikipedia there's been years of animal abuse. Why would anyone go to support this? Put them out of business and don't go! Let's rescue these poor creatures and send them to a sanctuary.
They are taking better care of animals tban previous owner
Nice place but tiger petting was disappointing and not worth it
We didn't get to see the other half of the park because we didn't "take the tour"
An extremely poor place to visit. Animals lived in below average conditions. No one seems to realise the consequences of inter species breeding and the health effects it causes.... You should NEVER pay to allow your children to 'go interact with tigers or lions'... they are wild animals with a wild instinct and you are just supporting cruel practices.
These are amazing people. I have been going to this place almost 20 years. Very dedicated keepers.
Worst zoo ever been, If you dint want to get insulted/humiliated by the staff then stay away from this place..
Great place animals are being well cared for by all staff
I went here for my birthday and i got to hold a baby tiger!
The entire place was fun,There are nice employees and everything was fun
This place is terrible. Do not support this "park". It is a prison for animals that deserve to be rescued and taken to a sanctuary, not used as a spectacle for the owner to make money on. They routinely ignore animals such as a bear that suffered for 2 weeks when another bear attacked. No veterinary care was administered to the bear and the gashes that bled for two weeks before the animal succumbed to their wounds. This is a roadside charlatan masquerading as a sanctuary. These people need to be shut down and the animals relocated to an actual sanctuary.
