Top notch. Paid R95 for a museum tour, wine tasting, cellar tour and a crystal glass to take home. This place is beautifully kept, lots of great open areas and many places to eat. Really good place to bring visitors to Cape Town.

Food was just above average, each specification of meat we ordered was not prepared to the way it was supposed to be, definitely overcooked, unfortunately i arrived too late to taste the wine. I really did enjoy the location and environment though, absolutely beautiful.
This is an absolutely wonderful wine farm visit. The staff are so friendly, and full of knowledge. We have just finished our visit, and will be back on future SA trips.
Always a great place to stop in. Great wines amongst the Vineyard if you choose to sit outside.. Or it's in a barn like building... Either which way... Wines are great
Ok wine, chocolate pairing was subpar, and the setting was significantly worse than the other six wineries we visited while in the region. Seems more like a tourist trap with decent wine.
Tim in the wine tasting room was incredible from his amazing knowledge of history and wine to his friendly demeanor. We had the most incredible time at Groot Constantia
Nobody seems to be able to operate the telephones. Been trying unsuccessfully to get through to the restaurant and was cut off twice. Phone was answered by kitchen/cleaning staff who cut me off and then called back several times, and nobody bothers to answer the telephone.....terrible
An amazing estate. Great chill way to spend a day. Tour is an informative look into the winemaking process, and wine tasting is tasty. Museum is interesting - there is quite a lot of history here. No reservations were required (though may be necessary for large groups). There is a wine bar in the museum. There are a couple of restaurants as well. I highly recommend coming here if you are in Cape Town.
Although a beautiful farm it is nothing but a tourist trap with no charm! The tasting room is worse than a club with bad music! Horrible Echo no decent seating or ambience! Its so loud and crowded you cant even hear your own thoughts in there! Waste of money to be honest! Outside is nice but then you have ppl smoking in the seating area or a bunch of tourist even locals taking a million selfies, all over creating a stir! This place needs a major overhall in what class and finesse is!
We had some wine and food in the Deli. Food was good. Cheese platter and a salad. The white wine wasn t that good. (Can t remember the name). Service although very busy was very professional and quick. We didn t have any views of the winelands while we eat. Maybe there is a place but we didn t see it.
We visited the Jonkershuis restaurant for our year end lunch. Enjoyed every minute of it. We were seated outside under the trees and took in the spectacular view! The food was really good (we selected the celebration menu) and fantastic value for money. I even had a chance to purchase some wines to take home. Overall a wonderful experience and will definitely return!
Great wine, a bit noisy and very touristy but enjoyable, one of South Africa's most historic wine estates. Especially loved the Chardonnay 2017, Pinotage 2016 and Constantia Rood 2016.
Having been to many wine estates in the West Cape I thought I should at least visit the oldest. The grounds are extensive and beautiful and the terrace eating space is sophisticated. There are several Dutch Cape buildings across the estate and lots of old tall oak trees. There is a good view of table mountain from the terrace area. Despite the grandeur of the wine tasting rooms I was tempted to taste or eat as the place lacked something.
Great people. Excellent service. Feels like home 'cause whenever I get there I feel welcome. Nice views too... The tour is very educational, do consider it if you go there.
This rating is for the Wine Tasting House only situated just after the entrance of the property
Here are some of the noteworthy points
1. Large facility, plenty of place to sit 2. When you come in and it is busy go to the front desk and get the wine tasting menu 3. Its R100 for 5 wines. 4. You may buy bottles of wine and consume on the premises which not all wine farms will allow, this making this wine farm extraordinary 5. Waiters are busy, but do not forget you 6. Enough wines to choose from, especially red wines 6. Prices are average to buy bottles of wines. The wines are top quality wines starting at around d R120 to a few hundred Rands a bottle. 7. Place is vibey, lots of people 8. Beautiful paintings on the walls 9. Bathrooms are good
Note
1. Because the place is busy, it could be noisy for some, but for most it would not be a problem
## New Note: Back on Sunday, place was quiet now many people. Brilliant. They also have wine chocolate pairing
Highly recommended for someone who is into Red wines
Made the wine tasting plus the handmade chocolates and what a taste! Being the oldest in whole South Africa (1685), Groot Constantia Wine Estate becomes a combination of wine tasting and history at the same place.
Great wine tasting experience. For R90 you get to taste 5 wines and get to keep the lovely wine glass. For a little bit more you can do chocolate pairing.
Tim, the sommelier, was friendly, helpful and knowledgeable.
Superb wines, I like this area better than Franschhoek/Stellenbosch. However... The tasting rooms are... Underwhelming and it misses the personal touch and approach, although staff is friendly. The airy room was loud, loud music, full of ppl. Too much for us. We moved outside (smoking area but nobody smoking) and that was soo much better. Did a chocolate pairing which I can recommend. If you fancy beautiful, contemporary gardens with a personal touch and beautiful wines as well, visit Steenberg as well. In short, don't miss Constantia, just escape the crowd. The wines are worth it.
A good place for wine tasting. Food is good and the service is nice and professional. I purchased six bottles of wine after wine tasting. There is a kind of museum for introducing the history of wine development in this area. They can do free delivering to you hotel in Cape Town if you purchase more than six bottles. It takes around 2-3 days for delivering. It is helpful for people who take red bus here.
The atmosphere in the courtyard is wonderful with a chic/rustic feel, it gives you the feeling of an outside space without having to deal with the extremities of the Cape Town weather.
And it's hard to go wrong with the Groot Constantia wines.
We also had a lovely waiter who was attentive and who had us at ease from the word go.
Oldest vineyard in the country (334 yr old) & one of the finest Cape Dutch architecture. Vicinity to the city & variety of wines production made it very popular.
Museum-Wine tasting-cellar tour-Simon's restaurant-vineyard visit completes the tour. A wine glass was gifted to every visitor.
At least spend half a day to see all around.
My 2nd vineyard visit. (Visited Sula vineyard, Nashik, India in 2018)
NB:-Not an endorsement of alcoholic beverages. Those who think it's better to drink wine than water are entitled to their words & health. If you want antioxidant resveratrol, better to get it at much lower price in red grapes.
South Africa's first winery, Napoleon's emperor, a wineries of fame. Friendly explanations and fun wine testing Enjoy plenty of wineries in the nearby city center and the food in the restaurant is very good. Governors reserve wine is recommended.
Great place, so peaceful and beautiful. Worth coming to even if just for a walk. Staff extremely welcoming and the tour is an amazing value for money. For 105 rand you can visit the museum in the house (self visit), you get a 30mins tour of wine making and you get to taste 5 different wines of your choice and then keep the wine glasses.
We only did the wine tasting experience. was excellent experience. was asked to purchase some wines which we declined but it puts you in an awkward situation
