Everything is fine until they decide to charge you random fees.

They charged me $25 for a typo in my payment information (a space behind the correct numbers that I copy-pasted from my bank page) that I've been using for 6 years. Bill isn't even late. I paid 4/20 and it was due 5/07.

Their "Payment and Billing" department told me over the phone that there's nothing that can be done unless I physically go see their head manager at the downtown office and dispute the charge (which I'd have to take time from work to do). Terrible and shady business practices.

If you haven't figured it out, based on their shining reviews... this company is HORRIBLE. As you can see by the reviews, they LOVE you when you're opening an account with them but once you're a customer and need help, you might as well jump off a cliff. They do not work with you. You can only get an extension if you're not past due. Lol I'm sorry, but the reason I need an extension is bc I AM past due! I swear, their website was designed in the early 90s and hasn't been updated since. Also, I havent met any evil customer service workers yet, but I've dealt with some less than happy ones. I can handle that! I would give my left leg to have any other option for electricity in Greenville but sadly, they are your one and only choice. To anyone just now opening an account with them, good luck!

The employees are very nice, but the payment system is ridiculous and very error prone, resulting in unfair fees. My biggest problem with this company is that there is no way to provide any sort of feedback. Even when I called the office, they didn't know where feedback could go. I think this business could be better, and to me, this means they aren't interested in hearing from their customers about what would help them do that.

I had to pay late fee twice, because my check got lost and delayed in the mail.The Post Office blamed them and they blamed the Post Office. Nobody apologized. I have an excellent record of paying bills. They were still rude and inconsiderate. Suggested me to pay on line. And I don't do that. So every month I physically go there and pay my bill. My electric bill is pretty normal, I have no problem with that. But I don't understand and agree with a whole lot of other stuff added to it.

Pleasant initially (if the employees answer the phone). However, the condescension begins when you ask questions regarding charges. Overall, the employees seem uncaring (except when you want to give them money). The lack of empathy, unwavering stances, and awful phone etiquette brought me here.

Note to management: if a customer calls a place of business, an employee should never hang up the phone when the customer is expressing concern; if the customer is frustrated or agitated, the proper avenue is to engage in resolution-based tactics rooted in positivism, not the exact opposite.

If I could give a negative 1000 stars I would. They are so unprofessional. Every two or three months it's a new issue that pops up that i was not made aware of. Their customer service line is HORRIBLE. Most recent issue: Apparently they were not charging me for using the service for three months, but there were still charges to my account so I paid them only that. It kept saying there was a credit on my account which is why I didn't call when the bills were so low. Now all of a sudden my bill shot up to over $200 because they are back billing me for THEIR mistake. I used the service so I'll pay BUT whoever Juliet T. was rude in her horrible explanation of what happened, she was argumentative, and nasty, and one she pissed me off because of how she was talking to me, thought she wasn't going to get cursed out. If I could go without electricity I would. They are the Number One reason why when my lease is up, I'm moving out of Greenville. I shouldn't have to deal with a new issue every few months.

These guys are a shining example of the effectiveness of utilities regulation. I mistakenly thought they were just a regular company out to make a buck, but maybe provide a service as well. These guys are actually savages, and would steal a bone from a starving dog.

You should be thankful they allow you peasants to pay for their electricity.

Savages, absolute savages. Someone is getting stupid rich off of everyone in Greenville. Unless you go solar or just don't want to live with utilities, you have no choice but to pay their ridiculously high prices and accept their tolerance for rude and disgustingly, horrible customer service. I, for one, intend on going 100% solar simply so I don't have to give these crooks another dime. Nothing would make me happier if this company was disbanded/ a competitor moved in. But, we all know that will never happen in Greenville. Everyone with power is in bed with everyone else and old money rules this land.

Poor customer service and they don t care about anyone.they cut off my service Thursday afternoon because I didn t know and paid my bill with Walmart and they didn t get it on time, I went to office Friday morning and rude lady told me I have to pay cash to get my service back on and I went to Walmart to get my money back but they told me they can t because it was already send to Greenville utilities.and then I came back to Greenville utilities office and rude lady told me why you here again we can t help you to we get your money and I talk to her manager he was mean too. Any way this is a second night me and my wife and 3 kids sleep in the car with this cold and rainy weather.

Absolutely horrible!!! George harasses people through the phone after 5pm, requests that services get cut off even after you have just paid. Accuses you of assault because the dogs are outside when worker comes to turn off services, but no one was expecting them because the services had been paid for!! A misunderstanding on their behalf can turn into an outrage because of people like him. 0 stars he sucks!!

Had to transfer service from one location to another with different turn-on, turn-off dates. It just was so easy, they did everything exactly the way I had asked them to. Customer service on phone was pleasant and understood our needs.

I just read an article on WITN saying Greenville Utilities decided to not shut people's service off two weeks prior to the governor's order. That is absolutely not true or someone there gave me misinformation. I called on March 18th on behalf of a family member and asked if they we're still disconnecting due to inability to pay and they said yes. Stay honest please.

I came here last week to start services. The was a security guard protecting the entrance at the facility. There is a receptions desk immediately to the left after entering the building. I was quickly checked in and told to have a seat. Within a couple of minutes I was attended by a friendly staff worker. Staff send to care about your security and take precautionary steps to insure your information is secure. Staff was very helpful and had me ready in minutes!

I went in and payed my last bill in person before we moved out of state and they assured me there wouldn't be any more bills. Then my INLAWS got a letter saying our bill was going to collections?! Would it have killed you to have called us? After all, this is your error. They charged us late fees for something that was their fault.

If i could give them -1 stars i would. Greenville utilities scammed me. My bill is usually around 130. The month of hurricane Matthews are bill was 90 extra dollars. We weren't even there for a week and we did nothing different from usual, but we some how got screwed.

Some of the poorest service around as far as bill payments go. One can pay with account, card, check, or cash but to do so with a card via internet or phone there's a fee added. This is ridiculous and just petty. You're already charging high utilities and tacking on extra fees for every imaginable thing noe there's literally a fee to pay the fees.

GUC is the absolute worst service i've EVER used. My roommate went out of the country and my utilities were cut off (even though she paid the bill before leaving and didn't know until she returned) immediately after she paid the bill (which they're in her name). then when i called to get my utilities cut back on, i told them the name on the account and the address (of which I LIVE AT TOO), and tried to pay the bill with my own card so I could have utilities for the next week until my roommate got back into town and they wouldn't let me because 'I didn't have the account number' and I had no way of getting up with my roommate because she was in the middle of the ocean. The three representatives I spoke to along with the supervisor I spoke to were extremely rude to me and would not help me whatsoever, and told me "Well then I guess you won't have utilities until she returns". The bill was already paid for and they couldn't even tell me that, so my utilities never should have been cut off in the first place. The worst part of living in Greenville is being contracted into the most awful company there is with the worst employees to match it. If you can do business with anyone BUT GUC, you need to.

Smelled a gas leak this morning and they came quickly to identify problem. I called for repair and once the problem was fixed GUC representatives returned promptly they checked and returned our services. Both events were after hours, free of charge! Love GUC super professional! I regret all the years we had LP before we switched to natural gas. Natural gas is so much more affordable!

Unprofessional and completely lacking responsibility for their actions. Yes, most people that work there are nice but this bureaucratic entity lacks responsiveness and failed to take responsibility for damaging my yard and property after their workers drove a backhoe through my yard to work on the adjacent property. I never received a follow-up or compensation after several calls to the supervisor responsible for the crew that caused the damage and emailing GUC. I'm assuming that any complaint is ignore since obviously they don't care about correcting problems they have created. I can't understand why GUC isn't scrutinized more for poor administrative actions and interactions with the community.

GUC DOES NOT ALWAYS HAVE TO COME OUT PHYSICALLY TO TRANSFER SERVICE BETWEEN TENANTS AND IF THE PREVIOUS TENANT TAMPERED WITH THE LINE, YOU WILL BE CHARGED*** This company charges far more than we should be paying for utilities. It's amazing how they are getting away with charging Greenville residents so much each month for utilities and sad that we have no other options. Looking to move as we can't afford $250-$400 utility bills each month for an apartment under 1000 sq ft.

They are the most rude obnoxious inconsiderate crooks i've ever experienced in my 50yrs of doing business with. They disconnected my services without any notification, and then closed my account for a lousy $51 dollars.I have been an excellent loyal customer and paid my monthly bills for 6yrs before the due date consecutively.They repeatedly refused to discharge the $40 reconnect fee although it was their mistake all along.

They are clearly taking advantage of people simply because they are the only electric company in Greenville and their negative reviews speak for themselves.

I ve had very few complaints about this company. Outages are always attended to promptly, customer service is usually pleasant and helpful. Today was not the day though. I forgot to pay my electric bill so they shut my power off. I opened my door and asked the guy to hold on 1 minute and I d have it paid for. He said he couldn t wait and walked away. It was literally paid before he got back in his truck. Five hrs later I m twiddling my thumbs wondering when it will get turned back on so I call. They don t even have it in their records that it was turned off so I ve been waiting for nothing and there s no timeframe to get it back on other than sometime today. Seems like they could have put a rush on mine considering I m probably bottom of the list now.

Cutting my utilities off right before the new year 2019....Sent me my cut off notice the friday before Christmas saying it has to be paid on Christmas but they were closed . I call they say pay on the 26th b4 5pm . Its the holidays tried explaining to rep now I will be without lights until I get paid in 2019 12/4 from my job...Bet there workers lights will be on Thanks 4 nothing!!

They double charged me. I called "customer service" and they said that I hadn't "been charged twice" but that I made "two payments." That's the same thing!!!!! Luckily the payment rolled over to the next month, but they have continued to charge me - once when I make the payment and once when the payment is due. Trying a credit card via Western Union with a $2.50 "convenience fee. Will see how many "payments" go through there. Luckily for GUC there is no other option, otherwise they would have been out of business a long time ago. I have lived in a lot of places and dealt with a lot of companies. GUC is one of the worst. Up there with Comcast in my book.
