I haven't been to the Los Angeles zoo in years. My understanding was that their a renovation going on. On Nov 08 I visited the zoo. Horrible, horrible. The vegetation was dry and dead, Elephants looked so sad. I was very disappointed The Los Angeles zoo got me for 22$. Dont spend your $.

The LA zoo is a great zoo with lots of animals. It is very spread out so it can be tough to make it through the whole thing (especially if you have little ones. It can also be a bit crowded on weekends and holidays.

What a great zoo!

What a great zoo!
This is my first time at LA zoo! We saw so MANY animals and the place was so HUGE. We spent entire day and we were glad that we did this!

Love this place to just hang out. It is not like Huntington library but the feeling this garden gives is more like country / friendly back yard forest/hill kinda feeling. I don't know how to explain well. But it's not too clean x organized like Huntington library is what I love about this place.

I had so much fun coming here! We came here to celebrate our anniversary. It was so hot!! I do wish that the Zoo had more shaded areas and maybe a nice mister for hot days. But I loved watching the cute sea lions! It was amazing to feed the Giraffes! But my favorite part by far was the getting to mingle with the flamingos!! You pay $25 per person and you go in and sit down with them. There are zoo attendants in with you and talk to you and answer all your questions. We feed them krill that is inside of a long cup. You get to be interacting with these beautiful flamingos for 25 minutes!! Their necks are incredibly soft. The attendants were very knowledgeable and told us that these flamingos were named after the Harry Potter characters. The zoo was a lot of fun. I definitely want to come back.

I like the zoo as there is a sizeable amount of stuff to see close to me. They have become more popular through the years as they created the new exhibits such as the LAIR and the rainforest. I enjoy watching the bird show the most as you will be seated on an elevated position looking down at the birds at the theater and them flying over your head.

First time back at the LA Zoo in awhile.
It was nice and we got good exercise.
Only complaint is it has become so expensive. I was floored when they told me a plastic animal bubble blowing toy was $25!!!!! That actually made me sad. $25?!

An average zoo with an average number of exhibits, an average number of unique animals, and an average number of visitors, nothing spectacular here, but a nice place to spend a few hours if you have time on your hands, not a staple on a visit to LA.

Love coming to the zoo with my family. The stores are a bit pricey but they ket you bring your own lunch so if you bring your own lunch you have that wiggke room to go to the minnie store and get the kiddos something. Friendly employees and are very knowledgeable. I always leave knowing something more.

Love the LA Zoo! Went recently after not having been since I was a little kid. And now, as an adult, I think I actually liked it more.

I like the layout. The map is decent enough to easily navigate you where you'd like to go. The "trails" or walkways ya take through the Zoo seem well thought out so you can circle back to/from areas you missed earlier or didn't get a chance to see.

Parking was easy. Staff helpful. Animals awesome.

The only thing I'd think of to be more prepared for are all the hills. The LA Zoo is around the mountains/hills of the Griffith Observatory, (my favorite venue) The Greek Theatre & as you walk through the LA Zoo, you will have upset & downs. Some fo the hills can be tough for folks who bad backs, bad knees or whatever the case is.
My point - there are hills. Some steep some not so steep. Just know some are more difficult than others, so if you have someone w health issues or bad knees etc., Be prepared so you can fully enjoy the LA Zoo. It is awesome.

The LA Zoo has just reopened and it's actually a great experience with only a few closed exhibits. The smaller crowds make for easier viewing of animals and overall a calmer experience. There are some go-to features that are closed, not as many food stops and some round about viewing areas that you'll need to see from a far. There's plenty of hand sanitizer stations, and for the most part everyone is respectful about keeping their distance. At least locals are.

It was a pretty hot day in LA today (90 something degrees F) and most of the animals was facing away or trying to find a spot to hide from the hot sun (which is totally understandable, yet, frustrating).
My pick point was the staff. Ther were so nice, friendly and every time you approached them with a question, they always have a smile upon their faces. They were amazing.
Is a very nice place to come visit. Is beautiful, charming....I will definitely come back often.
P.S: they didn't have the Lion at the moment. Apparently, he was too old and passed away, and they didn't find a replacement to him. #Rip

If you like to visit the zoo regularly you could purchase a family membership. They have different membership levels but they all include unlimited visits. They also have occasional evening events, such as brew at the zoo and holiday zoo lights.

LA Zoo is pretty good...fairly reasonable price to get in, and all the animals you'd ever want to see. Food/drink/gift prices in the park are fairly high...like Disneyland, but you can bring in your own picnic lunch...they prefer you don't bring any cans or glass. Parking is free. Fairly reasonable fun for a day...but it's just a zoo...nothing too exciting.
