Came when i was six years old and got to take my 13 year old daughter and my 8 year old son.
It's been a long time since I visited LA Zoo. Since I was a child, in fact. I came with my boyfriend. We enjoyed our stay and looking at the wonderful animals. Some of the enclosures could use some updating though. But the animals did look happy and well taken care of.
A really nice zoo. Animals are close. They are able to get big crowds through.
LA Zoo is a hidden gem. I recommend for you to take your young family members to this hilly zoo. Guaranteed that they'll be tired out from all the walking by the end of the day. There are many animals to see and if you can find where they hide, bonus points to you and your family!
A large zoo with many animals. Not as nice as the San Diego Zoo, but they have been gradually making improvements to the L.A. Zoo. You can feed giraffes, there is a "flamingo walk", and the World of Birds show is great.
Always a blast going to events at the zoo. Check it out during the holidays.
Biggest complaint we had was that a lot of animals weren't in their areas. My son had been so excited to see the lion and he wasn't there. I mostly prefer the San Diego Safari Park to see animals because it seems they have more space and they live in a more natural habitat.
Had a blast with the kids. Parking was easy and the staff was friendly.
Cant go wrong with the zoo!! I do wish the zookeepers can come out and stimulate the larger animals that are always seem to be napping whenever we go ;) ..
Especially like the bird show. Its one of our highlighs as usual! :)
Went to the night lights event. First time at the zoo in years. Lots of fun for the family.
The only complaint that I have is I felt bad for the lions, the lion exhibit looked too small, no room for the lions to move, other then that my family and I had a good time.
Great place to take the kids. It's best to go early to beat the crowds, sleepy animals and traffic.
Had an amazing time. We went for the Zoo Nights. Can't wait to come again and see the zoo during day time and with the animals
It's very different now, it seems better than before
Bathrooms were dirty, but had a good time visiting family and walking around the zoo.
We went to "Brew at the Zoo" on August 7th and had a really fun night! Not only was the event well organized with live music, djs and tastings everywhere, but I was also really impressed with how friendly and helpful all of the staff were. One event staff saw us walk past a crowded area twice (surprised she even noticed us!) and approached us herself saying, "you look like you are trying to find something, how can I help you?" Of course, the zoo during the daytime is always fun- the bird show is a highlight!
Really fun place to take the Kids. It's a real Welcoming place.
Great zoo. I would try to go in the fall though rather than summer. That or at least get there right when they open.
I grew up going here and now I bring my son. It's always a nice time and good for my family. Plenty of animals to see in a safe environment.
Me, my mom, and our 3 girls went and had a great time. I do get I went to a zoo and I try to stay positive I was just a little upset on how small the enclosures are compared to the wild. The animals on discovery look more healthy and happy. I dont think I'll go back.
This zoo was perfect. It's not too big it's not too small. Plenty of free parking. I was very pleased to find that all of the restrooms were super clean. And the animals look like they were well taken care of. I will be coming back again soon.
The zoo is always loads of fun! Lots of up hill walking but totally worth it! I love supporting the animals
Fun times for the small ones. Arrive early to avoid the crowds and buy your tickets online. Bring your own water and snacks to save money.
Very nice place to visit in the company of the Family.
A very nice place to spend a good day with the family
Great day for walking around the zoo and tiring out the little ones.
Zoo feels safe, the custodial staff does it's very best to keep the place clean and disinfected.
It's open but I'd suggest making reservations even though the website doesn't say so. Every animal was out except Lions Have fun!
I love this Zoo. To be fair I haven't been to many others, but it's conveniently located off the freeway. Parking is always reasonable. I do go weekdays mostly right when they open till Lunch, but that way I avoid the crowds and the heat. This is our 2yr of membership and so worth the cost.
Where are the animals? Most exhibits closed. Very disappointed.
This is a great zoo lots of animals
Exhibits are in need of updating but the animals seem happy.
We saw some animals that are less common at zoos so that was fun.
Be prepared for a walk. Layout is kinda confusing but offers lots of different activities and different animals to see.
Animals are always sleep when we've came. It's a cool Zoo experience for you little ones first experience! Bring your track shoes...great work out! Food is a bit pricey.
Boo! at the Zoo was great! Kids enjoyed taking pictures, feeding the flamingos. Great place to interact with animals.
Staff is friendly for Zoo Lights. Didn't try to sell us much. Still not super keen on lack of manners in crowd, but that's nothing on the zoo. Gave 4 stars because it's same as last year...just wanted a little variety.
Good to spend family day, my kids enjoy walking and seeing animals, friendly staff.
GREAT PLACE TO EXPEND TIME WITH KIDS. MY BABYS REALLY ENJOY IT
Covid update: everything is closed. Ridiculous barriers not allowing you or children to even view animals. Such a disappointment considering other similar outdoor museums are operating regularly.
I thought it was just that we could not see all the animals and several there are not but it was fine
The Zoo gotten worse each time we visit. We went there a few times since we have annual membership but the animals seemed to be missing all the times, especially the elephants.
Poor animals, small aviaries, not enough space for them, dirty, bad smell, some animals doesn't have water to drink and some seems hungry. Many animals we couldn't even see, they are hidden somewhere and windows wasn't clean maybe 1 year, we couldn't see because of dirtiness
The annual pass is almost free. Best part is the sedated lions next to the giraffes. Plenty of walking, so be prepared. Overall a very fun experience.
The Zoo was fantastic. Friendly staff and weather was great.
For my son and for me it is a magical place because nature is our weakness it is very good to spend a family day I love this place I have taken my son for 19 years without fail a new experience each visit highly recommended
Zoo Lights was good, but not great. Limited lights and areas. Those lights there were neat. Expected more for what we paid. Not a good value.
I like this zoo better as much as the san diego zoo and its half the price of SD. Lots to see for the kids. $5 to ceed the giraffe and $3 and lots of walking which i count as my daily cardio. So win win for the kids and myself.
The babe has a membership I fell in love with the variety of animals this zoo has. I love the souvenirs and things to buy at their shops.
I love the zoo so much. I love how many different types of animals they have.
Good place, good food and nice atmosphere very clean restrooms and good prices.
I love the walk, animals, and believe it or not the smell.
It is a very nice place ideal to go with the family
I love the zoo on holiday weeks like this. Not as crowded, animals out in the morning.
Animals was sleep but hey it's a pandemic . But overall great experience . Cant wait until they open back up
Lots of fun for the family, we have the family pass and still haven't seen the entire zoo park. Every time we go it's a new adventure.
Had a great time! This zoo allows outside food so we brought water, sodas and pizza for lunch. We were able to see all the animals we were looking forward to seeing~ surprisingly every animal was out so we were able to enjoy the entire zoo exhibits. We purchased souvenir cups which are refillable for a dollar. We also purchased stuffed animals and a sweater which were reasonably priced. Overall just a great place to visit and spend the day.
Very nice place, however there were animals that reflected carelessness (fur, feeding or appropriate living conditions), it is recommended to improve the maintenance of the place.
Have not been here since I was in grade school but look forward to bringing my son back many times before he goes off to college.
This is a wonderful zoo. It's not too large and it's built on a hillside so you get to see varied terrain. I've been to zoos all over the world and I like this one.
Got here early for the lights show and beat the crowd, but it was so dark in front of the ticket counter that I kept tripping and bumping into people.
I get it was the zoo lights show, but turn your lights on, LA Zoo! Safety first!
