The LA Zoo has come a long ways over the past two decades but still has far to go. Some exhibits are amazing (most of the ape exhibits are first rate) where as some seem cruel and outdated (especially the Lion Exhibit). It is not the San Diego Zoo but it is local so....

Have been a member since I had my son. Parking is good. A few restaurants and snack shops. Maybe not the best place to visit during summer because socal gets way hot for the animals to be active.

Big zoo, pedestrian heavy. Nice entrance when you walk in, feels like an amusement park. They could use a few more animal exhibits overall, especially since some animals aren't always made public, e.g. the elephants. An annual pass for a family is like $160 or less, worth it if you're local and not busy in non-winter months.

August 2019 well although it does not compare with that of Mexico there are almost no animals that are there just look very expensive all in a simple water $ 5 But there are many water troughs and many bathrooms and very clean and see that they let in with backpacks with water and even cakes .. they charge $ 21 adults $ 18.50 children, parking is free and the other half is more $ 10 preferable not to pay because the entrance is not far away

This a great place to take your children and spend a decent time with family. We hadn t seen the park in over 10 years and we all loved the new look! We really enjoyed the entire park.

The year membership is worth it! Accessible bathrooms everywhere, signs to orientate you if you happen to get lost.

Great place!

The only down side was that certain crowds of people were not suitable for children to see.

The very nice place and the very friendly staff, the only thing that I think is missing more open food stores, we arrived hungry and thirsty and we had to walk until we found another one that was open.

Honestly I'm a little bit biased because I love animals. If you do too then please come here because most of the money goes to conservation of Wildlife. The orangutan Bruno is one of my favorites, along with leadbottom the Andean condor. Again I may be a little bit biased also because I've been coming to the zoo since I was 2 years old. Still a delightful time you can spend all day walking around looking at and learning about animals. Very educational and fun time.

LA Zoo was doing BEST JOB of anyone in the city with safety. they had hand sanitizer EVERYWHERE not crowded plenty of social distance etc. i have loved going every two weeks and seeing the animals the best thing to do during this awful time. i dont understand why the city thinks its okay for huge movie crews which ive seen filming all over the city to film, but i cant walk alone outside in the sun to see animals. its ridiculous. also whenever i walk anywhere on the street TONS OF PEOPLE not wearing masks noone does anything but then you cant wear a mask and see animals walk and get exercise. its insane la zoo is great and deserves to be open. i miss the animals!!!!!

Called for information and "Max" was really rude, it was a simple question yet nothing nice about him. I understand your busy and can't Imagen the type of people you get over the phone but a smile and politeness doesn't hurt or kill you.

Fun

I came here on my honeymoon and it was a huge mistake. You know the horror stories they tell of zoos that only exist for entertainment purposes? This was definitely one. Overheard a zookeeper telling a visitor that the flamingos were wildcaught. Theres no conservation efforts at all so God knows where these animals came from. It smells awful, some exhibits looked so old and run down. The poor baby komodo dragons exhibit was all dirty, the windows, you could barely see through them. But yay for free parking. Made up for that cost with how expensive the gift shop was. Dont come here. Go to the Aquarium of the Pacific instead.

Zoo Lights was an awesome experience for all ages. As long as you bundle up for below 50 degree weather everything else is perfect. The are many places for photo opportunities and warm food and beverages for purchase.
