Enjoyed most of the day at the zoo. We didn t get to see all the animals. It is a very big zoo. We visited during the week so it was not crowded at all. We love the monkeys and the day we went they were kind of loud but funny.

Love it.

I'm sure had we gone as a family of 4 instead of a class trip it would have been perfect. Keeping multiple first grade classes waiting for almost an hour just to get in the zoo is a bit extreme. Something needs to help improve the process.

Highly satisfied!!! And most definitely recommend families to swing on by to L.A zoo. Just WOW. It's the first time I bring my family and the staff was just over the top on top of it with their kindness and very helpful and resourceful. On top on animals needs and resources on letting us know as we browse and enjoy their company. It was just an amazing experience!!! Thanks for everything. Keep up the great work!

I'm normally a big proponent for the LA Zoo. I'm a zoo member and have had a membership for the last 6 years. This was my first visit in quite a while however. I still rate it highly but I think just a few areas weakened my experience.
I enjoy photographing the animals and in a few ways this has gotten even harder. There sometimes appear to be fewer animals of a given breed on display. This reduces the chances of getting a good view of an animal breed/species at any given time. I also noticed late in the day that the jaguar didn't appear to be on display or was well hidden (could have been brought in for the day). I was never impressed with the visibility in that enclosure, but the one place I had good luck getting photos in the past is now useless because the vegetation growth now blocks the view.
I suspect that the animal inventory was reduced because of ever changing zoo requirements that recommend more and more space per animal. Overall however, I still believe it's a wonderful place and a great experience for kids and anyone else that loves or takes an interest in animals. They also try to show case various plant life around the facility and often have placards with their names on them.

What a great zoo and in our very own backyard. The animals look to be taken care of with much love and TLC. The park itself is great and no matter ow many times you come you are bound to go a different route or discover another animal you might have missed the last time.

It was great an awesome experience my kids loved it they love the fact that they could feed the giraffe but it does cost $5 per person but really you're willing to spend a little money to make your kids happy why not also they have all kinds of animals and events going on it just depends on which Days you go oh plus its like $21 per adult and $16per kid 2 years or older

Love this zoo. My son and daughter are two and under so they appreciate the animals they can name and stay clear of anything scary looking (reptiles lol). It's a great way to spend the day with family. I have been visiting since I was a kid myself, so it's a full circle experience for me.

I really loved the setting of this zoo. It is an absolute joy to walk around through here. However, I can't help feeling dismayed at the size of the enclosures for some of the animals.

I know that there are many animal lovers out there that would like to see zoos outright banned. I personally feel that they have an important role, but that they must focus on always improving the quality of life of the animals. San Diego, for example, provides lots of room.

The gibbons and the snow leopards struck me as the two most striking examples of small enclosures. The gibbons barely had room to jump around and the snow leopard's pool doesn't have the room for them to all play at once.

This zoo is huge and the layout is pretty good but it we expected to see almost every type of animal. We are from texas so we see elephants, bears, tigers, giraffes, lions and gorillas at most zoos we visit. Since this one is so large we expected those animals and more. The only animal here that was a surprise were the seals at the entrance. Lines for getting a drink were outrageous as well.

not worth the price if you start your visit in the afternoon. you re going to feel extremely rushed as they start putting the animals away an hour BEFORE the zoo closes. we had to run through everything, barely enjoying the animals, as we were trying to briefly glimpse everything we wanted to see before they were brought inside. there was also an escaped peacock on the loose that none of the staff seemed to know about. if you re a tourist, save your money.

Many of the exhibits were completely empty. While it was very lush with plenty of shade, they planted bushes and plants in between the exhibits and the viewing areas. I had to keep picking up my 4 year at most of the viewing areas so he could see the animals. Doesn't seem like they had children in mind when they planted the botanical gardens. It is a zoo and kids are there to see the animals, not your exotic plant.

I'll always love the zoo, I wish I got there sooner though. They put the big animals away earlier than closing time so I had to run to my favorites before they were gone. But it was great exercise lol
