The resort is absolutely gorgeous! I, however, agree with some of the other reviews that the resort could use some updates. We stayed in the Molokini tower in a "garden view" room. There was a garden but most our view was of a parking lot and huge trash recepticals. The worst part was the noise that came from large units (perhaps a/c units?) located 8 floors below us. They were not accommodating! We arrived before our room was ready and we were told, ahead of time, that we could have a hospitality suite to change into our swimwear. None were available so we had to dig through our luggage in the middle of the lobby. The service wasn't great for how expensive it was to stay there.

Resort is huge and there are a lot of facilities to take advantage of. Service and staff are friendly, always with a smile. The best part is the beach and laze under an umbrella. Come here off season, avoid the crowds, and get a better deal.

Perfection. Such a beautiful place. Breakfast is outstanding. The views are top-notch. We swam in the ocean in front of the hotel and saw sea turtles. Pricey, yes, but you do get what you pay for here.

The most gorgeous hotel. We went to a bunch if the fancy hotels on Wailea just to see what they looked like and this one was by far the best. They had tons of pools and even had a pool area that had a lazy river, Tarzan rope, and water slide so it looked pretty fun for kids. There is also a chapel and a bunch of pagodas for those who want to have a wedding.

4.5 stars. Wonderful family friendly resort. If you have kids, come to this place. It has been built with children in mind, with a variety of pools on different levels connected by slides, as well as a water elevator. However, beware of pricing. For example, we ordered "Volcano nachos" at the poolside. While the service was wonderful (April was our wonderful server, Tiasha took care of us at the bar, and the manager Gabrielle addressed our concerns appropriately as soon as we voiced them), we were charged $24 for nothing but a simple plate of nachos with a small amount of pulled pork on top and literally one tablespoon of guacamole. When I said "no no no" and took the food back, the manager Gabrielle did address my concern and said that she would talk to the chef about appropriate portions for the price and replaced our food. The rooms are a bit dated, as are the pools. I understand that a major renovation of the pools will occur in September 2017, which is needed. Over all, I would recommend this resort for families. There is nothing that beats this stretch of beach in Maui. Mahalo to you for reading this review.

Beautiful resort. Very stunning sunsets. We had a good view of the ocean from our balcony and could see whale activity in the evening. It's a great resorts for kids. The pools and slides are a lot of fun.

My only gripe was the food and drinks. Very expensive. Most cans of beer were $8-9. Mixed drinks were $15+

Lots of bugs, lots of noise.

Lots of bugs, lots of noise.

When we first got to our room (not even on ground level), we noticed an ant or two in the room on the table. Not making a big deal of it, I killed them and moved on. One night we came back from dinner, set down our stuff in our room (including a wrapped brownie), and went out for a walk. When we came back an hour later, our room was infested with ants. They covered the brownie, the table and also covered several other tables in the room and were running all over the baseboard. They were even in the bathroom. Not sure if they were in the room already (we were quick in and out) or if putting a brownie down for an hour brought them in (including bathroom?).

We called and maintenance came and did a few minutes of cleaning and got rid of the brownie. I continued to see them, and management said they had no other rooms for us. I spent about two hours total killing around 40+ ants. Management did give us a $100 voucher to use on the property. I continued to see random ants throughout the weekend although only one or two at a time after this. On our last night there, I found a huge black cricket type of bug on our bed.

Another issue I have is noise. They have title floors outside the room, so anytime anyone pushes a cart or suitcase with wheels by your room, it s very loud. It woke me up quite a bit. We attempted a nap one afternoon, but with people coming and going during the day with suitcases, it s not possible with the loud tile.

Finally, I was a bit disappointed in the location of the swim up bar. They have a kids area and pool, and an adults area only and pool. The swim up bar is in the middle of the kids area. Who thought of this? We tried to sit by the side of the pool by the swim up bar, but were splashed and disturbed by the kids running wild (with no parent or staff supervision). We then went into the swim up bar, and although the bar itself is adults only, kids are feet away from you splashing and being wild.

I did give this two stars, as management did try to make it up with a $100 voucher (for the bugs), and the property is otherwise very nice. However, my wife hates bugs and was worried about sleeping because she thought ants would be crawling on her at night. Perfect way to kill the romance of the weekend. I didn t tell her about the large cricket thing or I m sure we would have ended up packing our things and leaving early.

*Also, I didn t really take this into consideration with my review, but be advised everything is very expensive. If you go to the pool area, it will be $15 a (alcoholic) drink. Things like nachos and a personal pan pizza run around $20 each. Room service is about twice as much as this.

This is a very, very nice resort! From the minute you arrive, you're showered with attention (leis and kola nut necklaces upon arrival) and people jumping to help out. We were able to get checked in and up to our room in no time at all. The room is very nice as well and exactly what I'd expect from a resort with this kind of reputation; king size bed, marble bathrooms and a lanai overlooking a delightful koi pond and the ocean. The bathroom includes both a shower and a large tub and there's even a separate room for the toilet. There's a mini fridge and Keurig in the hallway and a large closet with plenty of hangers. The bedroom included a king size bed, a loveseat, a large flatscreen TV and a two seat table; each bed also has two outlets and one usb port for charging a phone. The resort is well known for both its beaches and pools and they do not disappoint! The main series of pools is gigantic, with a large main pool, a connecting series of smaller pools, a lazy river circle and a rope swing pool; there are also a number of water slides advertised but we don't really care for them. In addition to this, there's an adults only pool with a pair of hot tubs attached. It's worth noting that none of the pools were any deeper than 4.5 ft. There was ample seating around the pools and further chairs on the lawn nearby, so it was no problem to find someplace to leave our stuff and then hop in. The Grand Wailea also has its own section of beach, replete with lawn chairs and umbrellas, but it is first come, first serve. All in all, a wonderful place to celebrate a honeymoon.

What a vacation. I cannot wait to go back to paradise. The staff is always more than accommodating. My son stepped on a bee on the beach and they had a medical professional on staff aiding him immediately then followed up the next two days to make sure he was ok.
We spent 7 days at the resort and I wish we could have spent more. The next time I'm in Maui I can't imagine staying anywhere else.
(PS don't miss out on eating at the humuhumunukunukuapua'a (pretty sure I spelled that right) restaurant on the resort)

This the largest hotel property in maui, great resort with awesome slides! Beach chairs are free, lotion sunblock are free all over the resort, but to fancy for us family, i noticed the other guest are a little bit snobbish mostly rich people, staff was ok not everyone is happy not like in westin everyone is smiling and friendly. The beach was ok but we liked the kaanapali beach better eventhough its busy the water is nicer and close to black rock. Food is ok,more fine dining not alot of chouces, food thing its close to kihei. But rooms are great, view is spectacular even with the trees and we got upgraded for free . They have their own luau which is great too. Overall 4 stars.

Book the cheapest room, then upgrade to the tower when you get there. It cost us $100 extra per night, but free cocktails from 4 to 6; free appetizers at 4:30; and free breakfast in the morning, make this worth the extra cost. Also, pay with points if you can (even partially) and you avoid the $40 resort fee.

This place is arguably the best hotel in Wailea. I'd recommend it to anyone staying in Maui. It's very kid friendly (multiple water slides plenty of kid-specific play areas) but I didn't feel like they were running the place either. There are several adult only areas as well.

The Grand Wailea is a beautiful resort. The grounds are lush and well maintained. There us a very nice breakfast buffet or you can order individual items. Food was good, the setting was spectacular. I have stayed in several Hawaiian resorts and I would rank this one at the top of my list.

It was flashy and decorated on the outside with a huge entrance and big gardens. But over all the rooms weren't that clean, well made. And I just didn't like it. The bed fell apart. And the doors wouldn't close and lock.

We went to the spa. Valet parking, lunch options, and a bar. For a $200 spa visit it was nice, just not as clean or well kept as I was expecting. The experience is wonderful and definitely something I loved, it was just not all that 'grand'. The women's staff yelled for your name and it just ruined the atmosphere, which was disappointing and irritating at times. I guess for the men it's more intimate and the staff knew their names. Not the same for the women.

Sunday brunch here was the greatest. So much delicious food to choose from and bottomless mimosas to boot. Well worth the price and they even offer kamaaina discount for local residents! The best part though was the amazing service by Mike. He was one of the best waiters I've ever seen. He made this a truly 5 star experience.

Like it even needs my measly review. All was perfectly amazing. EXCEPT I think y'all should change the oil y'all cook with. There are plenty of other choices like sunflower, grapeseed or olive. Also, more GLUTEN FREE vegan options.

It is one of the fanciest resorts I have ever been to, the pool it has is almost a water park, not to mention they have a private adult pool if you want to be away from the crowded chaos. But the main pool is big enough to sustain everyone, and the best slide has the shortest line. Oh and the views are breathtaking, they have their own garden and chapel, they light torches at night with the sounds of running water of a pond, with live music. The openness of the resort is almost like a palace, they have three restraunts to choose from and a complimentary continental breakfast (depending on your package). And the valet's are speedy with their recovery of your car. You are also greeted with leighs or kakui nut neckalces as you enter. And the Pina colada are to die for

The pool was nice but the description of it online is misleading. There are only two waterslides. One of which is in disrepair. The hotel staff was friendly. The food was better than average. I had an issue with an alarm clock going off in another room for hours. They said they couldnt find it so from 5am until 7am I heard an annoying buzzer. Then our final night they had a huge metal rock concert on the lawn that kept the kids up. And of course at 5am the alarm clock from the other room started buzzing. Overall I expected a lot more from a high end hotel. Disappointed and we will not return.

The GWR combines luxury, relaxation, and fun. It really is an amazing resort. The property is beautiful. My favorite space may be the fruit grove. The restaurants on site are good, the bars are great (especially the Grotto, which is a swim-up bar), the staff are super friendly. But what it all comes down to is their pool. WAY FUN.

Beautiful resort with everything you could ask for. Great beach access, more swimming pools than you can ask for...and a very large gym for a hotel. Food is kinda pricy and no self parking (only valet). Nevertheless, best resort in the area and couldn't have picked a better place for our anniversary trip.

Massive property. Think of the biggest resort you've been to and then double it. It's a nice property though it seems a little worn and rundown. The pool looks amazing for children and there's an adult pool area as well.

The amenities here are great. We very much enjoyed our stay. I'm giving only 4 stars because for the price, which out the door was approx $900/day for two of us, I feel like the bed should have been a lot more comfortable and the fan shouldn't have been so wobbly and loud that you effectively couldn't sleep with it running. The bed was lumpy and unlevel. In contrast, it's a beautiful facility and we had a great time in the pools. The service was wonderful. We had an issue with a belligerent drunk guest at the big waterslide and it was dealt with immediately and professionally. All in all we can't wait to come back here!

very Nice Resort! i have been there several Times and every time I have stayed here its always the same thing all the staff are wonderful and helpful. The rooms are very well appointed (although a tad dark for reading, but I understand that they're correcting that), the service is impeccable. Small wishes are granted with a sense of graciousness that makes you feel very pampered, like you're the very best guest they've ever had(!) No nickel and diming once you succumb to the $25 resort fee. Stunning grounds, fabulous pool, gorgeous stay-all-day beach and lots of good restaurants.I never actually never left the resort on our short-ish stay, which is rare for us, because there's so much to explore and so many good dining options and A beautiful hotel with a fabulous beach club. We came back to our room one evening and there was a bottle of champagne chilling. I called the front desk to see if they could tell me who sent it, and apparently the hotel had sent it complimentary. Service was great and would stay at this Hotel again Not just beautiful; beyond it! Stellar yet far from stuffy, professional yet personable customer & guest service. Immaculate views and accommodations... Enjoy.
