The structure of the hotel is truly extraordinary....
The structure of the hotel is truly extraordinary. But some poorly trained procedures and staff will not let me give 5 stars.

Absolutely beautiful hotel, polite and helpful staff.
Good experience unless you ask housekeeping to come back after 5 minutes. They take about 5 hours.
Wonderful location, poor service for what they charge you per night, that is $ 700.00 !! When I finally got to my Maui from the east coast, very tired from the long trip, I had to argue to get the room I reserved. I paid for a Ocean view room and I was given a different room instead. They finally gave me an Ocean view room and told me that it was my upgrade for being a HH diamond member. Really ??? I was very irritated and disappointed. This is the first time my HH status means nothing at a Hilton resort. I had to fight to get my room cleaned almost everyday and this is the first Hilton Hotel that has problems to provide free bottles of water to guests with a status. When I checked out, they did not even asked me how my stay was. Very arrogant attitude !! Maui is beautiful and I will return one day, but will never stay at the Grand Wailea resort again.
I didn't stay at the Grand Wailea, but stopped in to use the FedEx Print Shop. The FedEx employee was very helpful and kind. I was in and out in only a few minutes. The Grand Wailea valet staff was also extremely friendly and helpful.
Beautiful and large pool with bar, slides, cool bridges and a lazy river with lifeguards watching over.
Friends are having a vow renewal on the grounds. It will be very beautiful. We are checking in as overnight guests tomorrow.
I am conflicted with my feelings regarding Grand Wailea.
The cover of this "book" is lovely; the staff seem warm and accommodating and the ocean view was very welcoming.
But as you turn the pages, a darker story emerges. It became clear almost immediately that the staff is overworked and likely under compensated. Everyone seemed tired.
Don't look too hard (or up) and you'll see the unrepaired cracks in the ceilings, water stains that, to some extent, must compromise the structural integrity of buildings.
The rooms are tidy but not "clean".
Unless you're a member, nothing is included. In fact, paying the $2,500 + annual fee for the "elite membership" might save you $$ by the time you find yourself having sustained on $20 libations and $45 food plates for two weeks. If you don't want to fork out the $$, then I HIGHLY recommend you go to Kihei and save some money at the local market or cafes. (Cafe O'lei is a great little gem and reasonably priced compared to other restaurants).
The Keihei cafe has a great, air conditioned indoor seating with a play area for the lils. The food isn't bad either.
The pools at GW were adequate and both my children absolutely loved all the water amenities, including unlimited access to the Pacific ocean, where my toddler met some sea turtles!
My son and husband both cut their feet at the pool at the bottom of one of the slides, so exercise caution when using the pools. You need to get up with the sun if you want a beach chair...
And sadly, I must leave you with this-
As my husband and I were returning to our rooms after a lovely night out (despite the reccommendation to eat off site, do try HumuHumu, it's great!), we noticed a "Wet Floor" sign by the elevator. Under the sign was a HUMAN ADULT SIZED TURD. Now I understand accidents happen, but for love of goddess, COVER THAT S**T UP. The fact that this was not taken care of promptly nor discreetly weighs heavily on my mind, and has certainly affected my rating for GW.
Overall, it's nice for families looking for some beach time. I would not recommend this to someone looking for an exclusive luxury experience. The grounds ar beautiful but this place is all about the masses.
I believe our time here would have been much improved had we become members. So if you're looking for all inclusive luxury, keep that in mind. Otherwise you might fare better at the Four Seasons or Fairmont.
Great hotel, multiple pools, private beach, kids friendly.
We went for the loua and it was great food was good kids loved it great show A+
One of the nicest hotels on the island. Actually, perhaps one of nicest anywhere. Great for honeymooners, romantic getaways, families and corporate functions. Superb service. Wait until you see the pool(s)...
Ive been here twice both time a little over a week. Most relaxing and wonderful trip. Wonderful customer service. It truly makes a difference in Vacations
Grand, quite fitting name for this hotel. Humuhumu.. is one of the best restaurants I've ever been to. Great views of Hawaii and amazing place for kids to play and have fun in the water park.
The Grand Wailea was a comfortable, beautiful hotel. The rooms around us were a little noisy, but the best thing about the Grand Wailea is the pool. We slid down the big waterslide several times, and then explored the rest of the pool. The whole thing is massive and beautiful, with caves and hot tubs and water elevators and anything you can imagine is there.
Why am I suspicious that this hotel has so, so many 5* reviews from a "a Google user"?
There are aspects of the hotel that are 5*. It has great pools, if you are looking for the water park experience in Hawaii, it is on a great beach and the grounds are nice.
But for the price it should be a lot better than it is. Yes the pools are great, but who wants to get to the pool at 7AM so you can get a chair by the pool, especially one with shade. The restaurants are expensive, even for hotel restaurants they are expensive.
The rooms are not large and you don't get a lot for the $25 resort fee, included WiFi (which most hotels have for free these days) and two bottles or water once when you arrive, not daily and no daily newspaper. Add to that the $30 valet only parking and you have $55 added to your bill daily and the hotel is already not inexpensive.
With so many other great hotels in Wailea, I can't see returning unless it is to use up Hilton points.
I wouldnt know because i dont know where Grand Wailea is so dont bother me
Maui Wailea's best resort, the swimming pool is like a water park. The whole hotel is designed like an art gallery. There are works everywhere! Staying at the hotel for three days and two nights is definitely not a problem!
It was a very enjoyable stay. Would like the management to recognize Kalei at the Hawaiian cultural centre for going up and beyond to help the tour group with information, explanation and suggestions. She is extremely knowledgeable. She also went beyond the call of duty to encourage me to come to learn Hula after the scheduled class as two separate tours were scheduled for the same time and I wanted to attend both. Would also like you to recognize Richard, he filled in for his boss for the garden tour. Again extremely knowledgeable and made the tour fun. My rating of 4 is for not giving enough time slots for various activities.
All the personnel are very helpful, courteous and friendly.
Beautiful and nice looking place but service seems lacking when I stayed. Didn't like how some staff looked at me as I walk by or standing around. Rooms are comfy and great for the price you get. Not very helpful staff when skiing about activities around the hotel or locally but it is nice and quiet none the less unless you have the room next to you a bit loud. Overall, may change my mind next summer when I book again as I was told that this was a great hotel to stay in. Probably I enter the worst time in the season as it was the holidays with me and my husband.
Surrounded by outdoor inside is inspiring. Seafood bar, Fruit Bar, Veggie Bar, Salad Bar, Pastry Bar, Hot Goods, Prime Rib Carver, Pork Belly Carver, Ham Carver, Dessert Bar, and Specialty Drink Bar. I was amazed.
Beautiful facilities, great landscape, awesome pool, great place to have a wedding. Kind of expensive to stay there a great place to visit.
Could not have asked for a more beautiful resort to spend my vacation!! ESPECIALLY the villas!!! Worth all the time and money!
Beautiful hotel with some of the most beautiful beach in Maui. Also great water park for the kids and swim up bar for the adults.
We had a great dinner at the Humu at the grand wailea. Service was excellent and the food superb. We ate in the alternative site as the original site is being renovated. Can't wait to see what it will look like when finished.
Beautiful resort. Staff was wonderful throughout our stay. Special thanks to Kaori from the Volcano Bar who made our engagement extra special.
Food and service was great. Little cramped for happy hour. Hard to adjust tables for larger party
This resort is so beautiful. The front has a beautiful waterfall. It has a cute church with beautiful foliage & flowers & waterfall. Big pools, dolphin statues. You can walk over by the rocks & see turtles in water.
Visited for 2 weeks, in May. The resort was beautiful, if somewhat overly expansive. We stayed in the villas which were a 15 minute walk from the beach. The rooms were nice and we'll equipped, but at times felt like they could do with an update. Service was impeccable from start to finish.
Was alright. Like any expensive hotel, you have to shell out lots of money for average food. Their pool is very nice though, you might want to bring your own floaties because again, if you buy yours there they are overpriced. However the staff was friendly!
Best hotel pool, in the whole world?? This place is not cheap, spa is nice though and staff treats you like you would expect at an expensive place ($1000 a night and $19 for one cocktail) This place, while very nice, is still focused on a very hotel style experience, like being on a big cruise ship if that makes sense?? If you are not into hotels, then look for an Airbnb.
Also, no self park, all valet which can take awhile to get your car back when they are busy.
Overall beautiful location, but the resort needs some maintenance
Gorgeous property. Great pool area with cave pool bar and water slides. Right on the boardwalk and luau is often hosted on the grounds a few times per week.
I was tied to the Molykney Wing but there was a little noise because it was connected to the next door by a locked door. Other than this, the scenery, the sea, the hotel are all good. It is convenient to have a car unconditionally, but it is a disadvantage in cost.
Ordered gluten free and got sick! Beautiful Resort though
Went there to revisit the property after staying there many years ago. Beautiful 5 Star hotel. Very large, many pools and restaurants. Even has a gigantic convention center. The beach front location is a plus. Bring your wallets.
Best Vacation experience we've ever had. Fantastic hotel. Great staff. Beautiful surroundings. Wonderful food.
Don't waste your money. We went there because of their supposedly amazing water slides - they closed the waters slides for 7 days while we were there and turned off the heat in the large pools so that all the children were freezing (this was in February and it was a cold February for Hawaii). Rather than notifying us ahead of time, the management attempted to sneak this by the guests and not say anything. It wasn't until we complained that they actually posted an alert on the tv for the problems (four days after they closed the slide). They didn't offer any discount or accommodation and we were miserable and couldn't use the pools b/c it was too cold.
Because it is a large hotel, I think it feels a little lively to those who want to spend leisurely.
As it is a European style design, tastes and dislikes appear clearly.
Very nice! Friendly staff! Just don't sit on the white towel covered pull chairs unless you have them reserved.
Great facilities and my kids loved the pools... We can easily spend multiple days at the resort without feeling bored
Excellent hotel, friendly staff, and great amenities. Only thing, if you have a car, you have to pay an additional 30 dollars a night (valet fee), on top of the 30 dollar resort fee.
Such great hospitality at a beautiful resort with an awesome beach.
Attended a luau. Show was great and food was amazing.
Very nice and relaxing. Good for families and couples.
The pools are fantastic, although it has a big resort feel. Shady areas are at a premium so grab them early. The water slide is fast and fun for adults.
Unlike Honolulu, it was quiet and very good, the bar in the pool was impressive, and it feels rich when you enter the Jacuzzi next to the fountain at night!
My wife and I stayed almost a week at the Grand Wailea resort and we can't say enough good things about our stay. The resort staff has been extremely welcoming and friendly beyond expectations. They have several pools and water activities for all ages and water sides for young and older! We snorkeled off the resort beach and swam with sea turtles and many other marine life. Our next stay in Maui will be at the Grand Wailea. If you come to Maui stay at the Grand Wailea, you won't be disappointed!
Mahalo
Santa arriving by canoe was so awesome! Fantastic resort in Wailea for guests which also has amazing events for the community to participate in.
Great family-friendly resort. Also has an adult-only pool and in-pool bar, in addition to the water slides, water, elevator, and lazy river slides & pools. The beach is well maintained and has lava/coral outcroppings at both ends making it nice for setting fish and turtles while snorkeling. Located outside the primary tourist areas, so you'll need a ride for most off-resort dinning and shopping. However, the Grand Wailea, the neighboring resort, and small shopping center next door offer a decent variety so you can stay close if you prefer. The excursions we took from the Grand Wailea were well organized, provided nice equipment, had friendly employees, and picked you up right at the resort. The rooms were well kept and had a modern, art deco-ish style yet tastefully beachy feel. It was well done and worked. Overall a fantastic place for resort vacationing or events.
What a treat. We stayed in the villas across the street. The resort is just awesome. We brought one year old twins and had a blast navigating many paths all around the resort with our stroller. It is a great place to chill and relax. There are just too many spots to crash and just relax. Fountains and statuettes were treats for our kids. You can find a place to rest and in comfort pretty much anywhere and in all kind of varieties.
Beautiful location. The best part is the Grotto bar hidden behind a waterfall in the pool
We were very excited to go to this luau. The show was nothing close to authentic hula or triditional island story telling. The food was not authentic Hawaiian for the exception of the poi. If you are looking for traditional this is not it. We listened to screaming playing children through the entire show. Requested twice that the children continue playing but at a lower desimal. If you are looking to be entertained this is the place for you. But at the price we paid for this experience, we expect more.
It's called The Grand for a reason. I was craving something a little more intimate and a little less family oriented... but this is one of the top hotels in the world without a doubt. Hilton seems to be a great steward and has allowed the resort to keep it's uniqueness. It was very similar to what I remember 20 years ago as a child.
Has best pools in Maui, beautiful grounds, has convenient beach access (they up chairs/umbrellas for you) and great amenities all around. Nich hotel rooms too.
Beautiful resort, stunning location. Food prices are extremely high but the service is superior
A rich cake of a resort. You can take pictures of tropical birds pooping on expensive tiles, buy beautiful works of art in boutiques surrounded by gift shops, get stuffed animals with your steak dinner, pluck fruit from bowls that pepper the grounds that you can't take home through the airport, have your kids participate in fun, half-hour activities like Hawai'ian-word bingo, and enjoy beautiful sunsets where you can't quite get the resort buildings out of the frame. In all seriousness, it is a wonderful place with very friendly service, accommodating staff, posh decor and lots (lots) of things to do in the water. Just try to suppress that nagging suspicion that you are some refined villain in a Bond flick as you stroll the corridors with your freshly picked lei.
Did not stay here - but did go for a massage treatment, while we were on vacation, and by the end of our massage we were looking up how much it would cost to switch and stay there. Just the views alone were amazing, but the spa services were extraordinary. Do yourself a favor and book a massage, facial, any type of service here, if you are vacationing on Maui!
Wow! Grand Wailea Luau was fantastic! Beautiful resort and setting!
Because of Stephanie Bartizal in "Membership" and Aaron Parker your "Overnight Operations Manager". This vacation for my family was truly outstanding! Even now that I've returned home it warms my heart just knowing that there's a special place like the Grand Wailea; with such fantastic people like Ms. Bartizal and Mr. Parker working there. From a wheelchair to packets of sugar... This has got to be the greatest place in Hawaii... I tip my hat to both of you!!!
The resort was very nice, so I stayed mostly near the resort while on Maui Island.
1. There is a variety of pools, so you do not know how to spend time with only the water you make inside. Especially if you have children, it would not be too bad to care in the pool.
2. Right in front of Wailea Beach, close to the Resort Hibiscus Pool, it is very good to enjoy the sea view.
3. Wailea Mall is right next door, so it's a short walk. You can easily walk in 5 minutes. There are many restaurants in the main island where Koreans go, so it is good to enjoy shopping and dining.
4. When you park your car, you will be charged $ 30 a day. Even if you keep your car in the parking lot without removing the car, you will be able to use the car easily because it is occupied by a day. When I pulled out the tea, I used bottled water as well.
Beautiful hotel. Stunning architecture and amazing grounds.
Beautiful resort with excellent service and good food. It is busy, you do have to wait in line, and it can be hard to find your way around, but it is, overall, a wonderful place to stay and relax.
Came for the luau here. Great luau. The food was alright but the performance was phenomenal!
