Very beautiful resort where almost every room is an ocean view, and the few that aren't get you a nice look at their beautiful gardens. The resort is laid out in a way I wish more ocean front hotels were, where you enter the room from the back side, and your balcony gets you at least some view of the ocean. While I don't have any, co-workers staying here have kids and say the activities for them are amazing. They have a kids club callee "the rock" that keeps them entertained and wanting to go back for more. They also have one of the most elaborate and amazing "water parks" I've seen. They treat it and call it like a pool, but it is much more. They have water slides, water elevators, in pool bars with tvs, water caves, scuba diving lessons (yes, in the pool area!) as well an "infinite water slide" (it's a ball that spins around with water in it. Looks very cool). They also have an adults only pool area if you want some peace and quiet, as the area with the kids can be a bit noisy. Also unfortunately the in pool bar is near-ish to where the kids are, but not next to the water slides, and its a bit secluded so not too bad overall

The rooms are very nice as well. Nothing to write home about, very spacious and clean, with professional room service. If I was rating the rooms alone it would probably be a 4/5, maybe 3.5/5. The shower smelled a bit moldy but wasn't a huge bother when actually using it. The rooms also had a very spacious tub that could fit people even as tall as 6'5"!

Overall I would say this is a great place to stay while in Maui. Shops are close by and they have a car rental in the hotel, which makes that process very easy.

It is a nice resort to go with your family and enjoy of Maui. I know, it is a expensive place but worth any cent.
The positive: The resort has many amenities to enjoy your stay. Shopping stores, restaurants and the best is the magic view from your balcony to see the whales say you hello and welcome.
The negative: The housekeeper service is bad and they don't clean very well. I found blood in the bathrobe and I noticed the next day that they took the bathrobe without put a new one.

First impression was stunning and I kept being impressed. We were there for the rehersal for my brothers wedding and it was awesome I'm looking forward to going back for the event. Beautiful chapel with a giant koy pond around it, surrounded by beautiful and such well groomed grounds. I'm very impressed with this resort.

Didn't stay at this hotel, but it has direct beach access. I was driving by and wanted to check out the beach here, and it was pretty crowded. Not what you're looking for in a tropical paradise, but still fun nonethless

The Grand Wailea is a magnificent resort. You feel absolutely pampered. Great views on both the hotel resort as well as the beach. The staff is always there to help. Sadly there's no food service on the beach is the only thing I dislike.

This place is hit or miss. The grounds are beautiful, the bed is great, the shower and seperate tub in the bathroom are awesome, and the luau on property is nice. It's age is beginning to show though. Mismatched paint on the walls and some cracks in the drywall in our room didn't seem like something you'd find at a Waldorf Astoria property. Last night we came home from the luau and found ourselves locked out of the room. A couple trips to the front desk later we figured out the lock wasn't working then waited around for an hour for security and maintenance to slim Jim the door and replace something in the lock. They so far have done nothing to make that right. Not a huge deal, but not something ine would expect at this level.

Very acceptable resort. Access to beach is easy and you can walk for miles. The ancient volcano Molokini crater can be seen from the resort. In February you can see whales breaching in the bay from the beach. Just incredible.

Amazing resort! Tip: if you don't call and request housekeeping early they might not get to your room until the evening. If you are attending a luau, bring your credit card if you want to buy your photos. You can't put it on the hotel tab.

The food was surprisingly good at the restaurants, particularly coming from San Francisco, where out food bar is a bit higher. There were great GF options, and the items were tasty (though simple).

My boyfriend and I stayed at the spa and did the couples experience package for two, which was really great, and we'll worth it by Vegas prices. We're both pretty big guys, but the robes were accommodating, the massages were great! The exfoliating scrub was awesome, and the pedicure was nice. The people were all very friendly, and even though it was obvious we were a gay couple, no one made us feel awkward (which was much appreciated!)

Would go again.

Excellent stay. Staff is awesome and super friendly, great decor and gardens in the common areas and room has always had a great view. If you're going g to Maui dont sell yourself short and stay anywhere else. Stayed there 2x in the past 1.5 yrs about 10 days each stay. There is an additional resort fee of 30-40 and valet charge of 35 a day which will need to be paid at the end of your stay. Standard amenities you might expect to be complimentary are not. At the pole area if you want a chair or sit in the shade you must rent it for the day. Want to Sit on the beach in the sand? You have to rent it.
But if you're staying there you probably already budgeted well or have no budget for a unforgettable experience. Definitely another annual destination for me.

The gardens and water features on the property are nice. The beach is very nice as well. The pools are 2nd to none. They also have some great stuff for kids. Our 1.5 year old loved the game room where he could play Mario Kart on the Wii.

That said the costs of everything make you feel like you are being held hostage to some extent. A burger and chicken strips shouldn't cost 75 bucks and there are no cheaper options. Forcing valet parking at 30 bucks a night becomes an exercise in, "should I pay the parking and eat off site or not pay it and be trapped paying through the nose for food".

We chose the off site route, and got food we could eat in the room which helped. Also as a result we explored found some awesome places like Kihei Kaffe off site. So I guess that was a good thing.

Overall had a great time. It was a very nice hotel. However it would have been a much better experience if we weren't being effectively price gouged. Leaves a little bitter taste.

Amazing all around. We were there during Hurricane Lane and the hotel really stepped up to make sure people were comfortable and well taken care of. When options were limited due to closings in the area, the hotel stepped up and provided all meals free of charge for all guests for multiple days. The resort is stunning and the location is great. Will definitely recommend to everyone I know. If you have kids, they will love the water park, most adults seemed to be having fun as well.

Gorgeous grounds when it's not too busy. Last time we visited the Grand Wailea, the lawns and beach were SO crowded. They had lawn chairs setup that were really close together and the serenity that usually encompasses the Grand Wailea was gone. That being said, it was February of 2016.

We also did the Luau on a previous trip, and it was really fun.

Cons: Price / Crowds
Pros: Arguably the best grounds in Maui

The grand wailea was a new experience for us. The pools and grounds were top notch and the staff was very accommodating. Our biggest disappointment was the room. While updated it didn't feel like it was as nice as the price tag would suggest. Overall I'm satisfied. I highly recommend this place if you have kids, and wouldn't let kids scare you away if you don't have kids.

Standard Room

Standard Room
Pros:
The room is spacious, clean, comfortable, great layout.
Room has standard size tv with adjustable mount
Couch is a pull-out which turns into a double bed
Bathroom is extremely with a spa bath, seperate shower & the normal amenities.
All you can eat buffet with a selection of options for all

Cons:
Terrible service, I would rate it a 2. The staff were irritable, and not as friendly as the other resorts we ve stayed in. We had to ask someone several times to help with our bags, and ended up trying to take them ourselves
Pool is overcrowded, unless you purchase a cabana, you may be looking for a seat for over an hour.
The rooms were slightly dated and need a bit of an update

Really nice resort! The views from rooms, lobby, running areas, pools are amazing! Great resort for the family. My husband amd I went for a relaxed vacation and it was a little difficult to find seats by pool amd beach area at time. They offer complimentary breakfast buffet but food there is way over priced. We took an uber to Kihei just 10 min down the road and got a lot more food for our buck! Everyone is really nice and friendly!

The pools and beach were very crowded, the staff was friendly and warm, the property was clean. I imagine it'd be a lot better to visit when it's not peak tourist season. Somewhat confusing to navigate, not enough signs to tell you where you are and where to go. Biggest issue was the crowding though, if not for that it would have been much nicer.

We visited here for our honeymoon, and the resort couldn't be better for that. You really don't need to think too hard about anything. The rooms are nice and airy, and it's wonderful to sit out on the balcony as the sun goes down. However, one word of caution: the evening food in every onsite restaurant is terrible. I mean, astonishingly awful. Put the work in to find some local restaurants and you'll have a great stay.

Terrible experience.... stayed there during Christmas with family. Big mistake... had to get up at 5 am to save a spot by the pool. Also the staff was very rude, almost had a fight with one of them next to my kids, about 8pm after early dinner kids wanted to go back to the pool so we did and we were the only ones there, my 7 year old sat on one of the beds in a cabana, about 10 minutes later a staff member came and asked my son the leave the cabana and if he wants to stay we have to pay.... I started to argue with the guy and refused to leave and asked for the manager , he was ready to fight me, all these were taking place while my son was sitting in the cabana and I was in the pool, as soon as I get out the pool and start walking towards this person with fire in my eyes he immediately backed off.... I called the manager myself, they did apologize.... I will never stay there again, it is not worth the money and I am shocked to see so many good reviews.

The staff is warm and welcoming year after year. It seems like there have been quite a few changes to things like the breakfast buffet to help cut costs. There are lots of areas where maintenance is needed. Our room keys had to be reissued several times because they stopped working.

The Grand Wailea is truly grand. If you want it, they will get it. Located in south south Kihei which is a plus due to the roads in and out. The hotel has a great big, maybe Grand, pool area with water slides and in pool bar. It is located on the ocean, and close to shopping and fine dining. Bring your bags of money, you ll need it.

Amazing property. Great for families or a getaway. Spa is one of the best, healing pools are worth it. Walking the property is relaxing and you can feel refreshed. Gardens are amazing. Family pool is like a water park. Not economical but amazing resort.

All I need to say about this resort is that in the last 4 years, I have compared all other resorts to this superior establishment. No others have equaled the beauty or service of this resort. Outstanding. Every person that was in the group I traveled with that I became friends with have shared this opinion.

Disappointed!!!! I cannot stress enough how much a let down my stay was. I am a Hilton member and have always had the best service and a huge advocate of their rewards program. I wish my family had picked another place to spend our time together- what a waste of points!! Pool was closed, outdated, and lack of customer loyalty...expensively overrated.

We have visited a hula dance show. Yes, it's kind of expensive. But I suggest you to spend a little bit more and get VIP tickets. First of all you will be seated in front, that gives you an opportunity to see everything. The second-you don't have to go and stay in the line to the bar. They will bring drinks to you at the table. And the third you get a beautiful necklace souvenir
Incredible sunset

Phenomenal place. Very luxurious and comfortable. Food options are convenient and scrumptious. The rooms are spacious and the views are breathtaking. I didn't use the pools but there are several of them and they seemed very popular. Beach access is convenient, and beach chairs / umbrellas are quite comfortable although there is occasionally a wait for them. Nice fitness center (I used it every day I was there). Prices are... cough cough... a little steep cough cough... but hey; my company was paying.

Solid resort. Was expecting more being a diamond Hilton member... No upgrades, no late check out, no welcome note. Was intrigued by the new Marriott resort just down the water, will probably check that out next time. Looked like they had better outside activities and more of a modern feel.

Wonderful resort with great size rooms surrounded by beautiful landscaping. The place is very quiet and comfortable, especially during the weekdays and close to many interesting points for snorkeling. Hotel have a lot of swimming pools with water slides and also a bar, and a beautiful beach is in front of the complex. Inside the hotel food are not really good with exception of humuhumu
