We (6 people) traveled for the 2nd time to Hotel Grand makadi 28 November 2019 Location great for world class snorkeling. In 2015, we were disappointed. Hotel more worn. We all got sick with our stomachs. In particular, the pool snack bar was not hygienic. We recommend the place but not hotel Grand makadi Hygiene just not ok.

The hotel itself I can not say sooo much, was in the lobby and in the outdoor area, is right after the Makadi Palace which is the sister hotel, you can sit outside but in the evening comfortable ind drinks and food, of course sometimes a belly dancer or music is played.
I would definitely like to point out the Lebanese restaurant Tarboush which is also in the outdoor area or connection to the hotel, the food is really special and the entire staff is very nice and is on every request.
A big compliment especially to the two managers who cooperate themselves and lovingly take care of the guests (which were taken in the pictures).
We had two nice evenings there!
Thank you to the staff.

Room was great. The reef from the jetty was also very nice. The fact that the swimming was not very good and it was very windy, we went every day to Sunwing. There was also cappuccino and delicious waffles and crepes.

In itself, a beautiful sprawling complex with greenery, but on closer look, you notice that everything was pretty old. 2 years ago was supposedly the pool renovated, there is nothing more. Thousands of tiles are missing at the pool floor.
We were there with 6 people and a few of us got stomach problems (not a big issue in itself) but if you ask for toilet paper countless times and you are always put off, that somebody comes over and brings some, but nothing like that happens is that a joke. The same with the water, there is a 0.6l bottle per person per day. At temperatures around 40 degrees a mischief.
A pity, I do not know from other hotels, this approach.

You shouldn't be too demanding when it comes to eating. But it was okay. There are at least 10 restaurants in the hotel complex itself. The complex itself is very well maintained but a bit old. The rooms are also very clean. The staff is very hard-working and attentive. The best thing to do is to tip a few euros each time. Nice well-kept beach section with drinks service.
A dream for snorkeling. Lots of fish. Preferably right at the jetty.
Don't let the annoying masseurs sell you anything. Have paid 65 euros for 3 massages ... persevere and act ^ ^ from the hotel you can book many excursions, everything easy and not too expensive. Overall a great vacation

Priced and architecturally very well. For the price you can not really complain about, but it needs updating. The food is a bit boring, but you can share the theme restaurants. The great reef compensated everything !!!

Location for nature lovers and people who do not put food at the center of the holiday (that is only good in the specialty restaurant Thai Garden, otherwise mediocre). Located in the north of Makadi with great house reef and adjacent undeveloped area for extensive beach walks. Nothing for younger and families with small children, as little animation and water sports and no gently sloping hotel beach available. Altogether quite old, but (because of the age) great garden area and many regulars, altogether rather older audience, the peace would like to have.

Nice hotel, only last time we had problems with the door lock and the toilet ran all night.
The tiles come off in the pool, especially on the stairs, where it is easy to injure yourself.
But the food is very good.

Was 14 days, end of October to beginning of November, there. Very nice hotel, even if not everything is perfect. Has just been around for a few years. The staff is super friendly. Room very large and comfortable. A pair of tiles at the pool are missing, for example, but you can not hurt yourself. Complete facility is very clean. The beach too. Water is crystal clear! Food was very good, there is always something there that you like. Variety so-so.

Boy was great, could not change the climate, otherwise it wasn't't interested. Food was good, cooks did their best with what they had. Complimentary. Front desk not friendly, we were offered a sea view room with extra charge, although we booked it that way Not the fine Art.Verlangten even when checking tip. It does not work at all. We had always thanked everyone for his services, but the front desk was cheeky.
Thanks again to the rest of the staff, cooks, rooms, pool ... perfect.
Otherwise we liked it a lot.

We rested in this hotel from 12/30/19 to 01/08/20. Just a chic hotel in Spanish style with a large and well-groomed area where there is a lot of greenery. A fabulous sea with a large reef and many fish. Wonderful clean beach with a good pier.
The food is varied, tasty, a lot of fish, fresh vegetables, fruits and fresh juices. For ourselves, we chose the LAGOON restaurant with a beautiful sea view and an unforgettable dessert.
The hotel staff are very friendly and attentive! Many thanks to the front desk Mostafa and Walled, who moved us immediately into a large nice room 2228 with a sun terrace and great views of the pools and palm trees and always helped us with any questions.
Thanks to Ahmed Mohammed 4152 who cleaned our room very well every morning we always had clean white towels and fresh flowers. Ahmed surprised us every day with a variety of towel creations (swans, hares, crocodile and even a monkey ....) and we always waited with curiosity for what he would please us next time.
Of course, we could not do without excursions! The guide Andrew Jacoub helped us in this very professionally, he so well distributed our excursions by time and dates that we got vivid impressions and unforgettable emotions from each one!
We were very pleased with our stay in GRAND MAKADI 5 * !!! Thanks to all the staff, who captivate with their attention and care, from the receptionist to the workers on the beach.
Will definitely meet again next year !!!
Best regards Tanya and Valentine, Dortmund

My partner and I booked a vacation in your hotel, but unfortunately what we found in the room and bathroom is a picture of despair, curtains and curtains torn off. In the bathroom, the toilet bowl until brown, not cleaned, the bathtub, the water stands in the bathtub does not flow, the curtain from white changed to brown, the driers do not work. Waiters and the rest of the service very casual. Apart from the nice views and friendly service, I can't give a good opinion. After four days we changed the hotel. I will not recommend your hotel to anyone

So this post should be a help that others do not have the problems we had:

For clarification:

Room:
We arrived Saturday to Sunday night and were initially a little shocked about the bathroom (shower) because this area is totally dirty and worn and the shower curtain is much too short so that the water basically runs past it and the whole bathroom floods. Rooms are with Equipped with a small TV this is so old that it surts so loudly that it is really uncomfortable in the ears, as is the climate

Eat:

I have problems with my stomach due to a medical condition and have clicked my way through both doctor and reviews and only read good recession. It is well known with the history of the stomach in Egypt but that you don't even offer food here except rice and noodles that everyone can eat is sad! And from a 5 star hotel I simply expect variety apart from kebab pizza and noodle and one kind of meat, there was nothing! Apart from fish, I'm an eater of everything, but sorry, it's like pork! There was chicken meatballs at lunchtime, we were very happy, well, unfortunately, the joy was over on the plate because it was unfortunately not done, I thought it could happen, and said the cook made new ones, same game here too! Conclusion from the food absolutely failed!

Miscellaneous:

A room is currently being converted for a new kitchen or something. This construction work starts at 5.30am and goes on until 4am so try to sleep for 1 1/2 hours !!! That is so loud that we thought there was a helicopter flying around because everything in the room was shaking and the floor was vibrating (midnight!) I went looking and quickly found a construction site under the hotel! Right under our room !!! That went on until 4 o'clock! Although the reception says 10 min

guest care Anja makes a nice impression at first, but you can tell that she is annoyed by the complaints

Conclusion was we were transferred to the sunwing and are mega happy and doing very well there :)

Nice but old hotel with a well-kept area. Unfortunately does not correspond to a 5-star hotel. Service is fine. Food is acceptable to very good, depending on the restaurant you choose. The absolute highlight is the beautiful house reef.

This was our second time at the Grand Makadi of the Red Sea Hotel chain in Hurghada Egypt. The rooms are a bit old, yet quaint and comfortable and especially clean. The beds are huge and not lain by what ensures a restful sleep. The huge pool is a paradise for young and old. There are already quite a few tiles but that did not break the fun. The water is clean is also cleaned every night. But now the main attraction: a about 200m. Long wooden walkway leads to the house reef where a colorful underwater world opens up in the Red Sea you have to see for yourself that you can not tell so fabulous is this underwater world. Two lifeguards life jackets and a lifeboat ensure that you can take in the water with peace of this beautiful world. The food is excellent and there is something for everyone. Finally, I hope that I could help you something and wish you all a great holiday in the Grand Makadi Hurghada Egypt

The cleanliness does not correspond to a 5 * hotel!
The plastic glasses are washed all together in a container at the beach bars - ugh - you can still see the remains of sticky colored drinks everywhere! The best thing to do is just drink the bottle of water, which of course costs extra - but at 1 / 1.5l it is only half as expensive as buying it in a hotel.

The SIM card from Aldi supposedly had 4GB for 15 , unfortunately that was never the volume!

The staff can only be approached for a tip and even there it is quite tepid.

The tiles come off in the pool.

We are constantly trying to offer additional services that are not included (in the restaurant)

The air conditioning broke in ours and only after repeated repeated pressure on our part someone finally came.
It was nice that you could set the temperature yourself and that the system also ran while you were there.

We had villa 3, the three villas are right by the pool, one even has direct access to the pool. The room is large and has a dressing room and a bathroom with a separate space for a bidet and toilet.

The beach is more of a cliff and not suitable for a vacation with children.

The photo team is a real rip off! We were on vacation with our two small children and when "choosing" the photos, the appointment was set at dinner time so that it was already inevitable that you would not have the time and the patience to choose photos in peace. You will quickly be offered to take all the photos. With us it was 310 for the DVD + about 10 printouts, a Swiss family received the same offer for 450 . Of course, people earn differently there than in Germany, and a shooting there costs considerably more. They know the prices very well and try to argue that way.

The hamam offer
39 a great price. Unfortunately we were promised a 15 minute drive and a 2 hour stay. In fact, we drove for over half an hour and were there for three hours, sounds good, but unfortunately it became a problem for us personally because we had to take turns and didn't spend the entire day together. When I got to the hotel and wanted to have lunch at the Leonardo, I was without my husband with my two children (2 years and 10 months). I was completely ignored, did not have a high chair and was not even given a drink!

In the Leonardo there is breakfast until 7 and again from 8. We arrived at 6.30 and were completely ignored and felt unwelcome and disturbing.

My boyfriend and I spent a week here this July / August. Unfortunately the hotel does not live up to its 5 stars - for different reasons ...
In our room was not enough light, in the pool the stones from the floor, the food is neither varied nor delicious, it is as good as no evening program offered, for the gym you would have to pay an extra charge, the coffee is inedible, the beauty salon has at least one intrusive staff (have tested it - bad facial, value for money is not given), we had to run after our toilet paper and at this point I stop ;-(
The staff, however, is for the most part very friendly, the area is spacious, you do not feel cramped, not even by the pool, and the Red Sea is just awesome!

Everything was okay, price-performance ratio. The only drawback is that I was presented with a slip of paper when pouring at the front desk (in the morning at 3:30 a.m.) and when I was satisfied with the service I was grateful.
That was the only time I was approached directly about a tip.
The rest of the staff are very friendly and courteous (you are welcome to tip)
But it is not for beach lovers there directly on the coral reef

Nice hotel, right on the sea, pool and restaurants o.k .. Staff very attentive, hotel itself is however already a bit getting old. Good diving and snorkeling right away from the Hotel Steg.

September 6-13, the gorgeous spring, the food left a bit desirable, at least the Italian restaurant, I recommend the excursions to the valley of the kings, the pyramid-cairo and the most beautiful scuba diving experience (absolutely magnificent fish, all the money, the total score 4/5 satisfied with the services offered

Lung and nice place. Starts getting dax for some renovations here and there. Great service and food. Many restaurants to choose from. The beach absolutely wonderful, only a few meters away from the hotel with long coral reefs and 100 m bridge right out into the red sea

They do not even deserve a star! On vacation I want to be able to relax and not have to deal with overbooked rooms! Our entire stay over there was always the same method: guests arrive and are stopped, because allegedly no rooms were free! Absolute FREEDOM !!!

We stayed at The Grand Makadi Hotel for a week in ...

We stayed at The Grand Makadi Hotel for a week in January 2000. At that time it was relatively empty and relatively cool by Egyptian standards. The assessment therefore extends to these relationships.

The trip was booked through ETI, transfers from the airport and back worked perfectly.

The hotel complex is very spacious, with green areas, swimming pools, several restaurants and bars. Because the transition to the neighboring hotels is fluid, you have the feeling of being able to stretch your legs on a fairly large area without having to leave the hotel complex.

You can go over the jetty into the sea behind the reef and from there into the water. Lots of fish and corals, at least sufficient for a casual snochler like me. The beach is rather unsuitable for bathing, as you come almost directly into the reef and therefore most of it is not allowed to enter. The beach is unsuitable for smaller children. there you should limit yourself to the swimming pools, probably book the neighboring Sunwing Hotel with the water slides.

The room was also very spacious with a very large bed, several seats, a large bathroom and a large balcony. You get a large bottle of mineral water in your room every day. A free safe is available in the room.

The cleanliness in the rooms, in the outdoor areas and the restaurants is perfect. There is a need for repairs here and there.

The drinks included in the all inclusive include non-alcoholic drinks and so-called local alcoholic drinks. The quality was also okay.

Free WiFi is only available in the reception area with mediocre performance. People who believe that life without the Internet is impossible should perhaps get an Egyptian prepaid SIM card at the airport.

The staff was friendly, open-minded and quick. A wish for a tip is expressed, but not impertinent.

There is an organizer for quad tours in the area of the access to the jetty. We booked the tour there for 2 hours. Price was 30 per person, which was a matter of negotiation. Extra money is charged for the dust goggles and a protective cloth, if you have something like this you should bring it with you. The tour is relatively sobering at first, because you mostly drive on paved roads. The tour leads almost to the south, past all the hotels in Makadi on the outside, but then turns off the paved road into the desert towards the sea, where it sometimes goes through quite difficult terrain and the turning point of the tour is a scenic one Point on the cliff ends.

Some people need a rality check when they complain about this hotel. They want to pay Aldi prices and get Harrods quality. When you take off the cost of your flight you get AI holday for less than B&B in Blackpool. Just treat people with respect and enjoy your holiday and the brilliant staff will look after you.

Every time you arrive, you feel right at home. Also on the 12th time we were warmly welcomed. Whether at the reception or the customer service, Mrs. Anja, everyone was very helpful and friendly! The food, whether in the main restaurant or in one of the many theme restaurant is very good. Particularly noteworthy would be the service manager in the restaurant Lagoon, Hr. Kalled, very prudent and friendly, with a reason to spend more time here !!!

Overall impression of the hotel / complex: a bit old but okay
The cleanliness of the room is just "men's economy"
but also okay
Food and catering: 3 out of 5 stars, it wasn't the burner and eye-catcher but it was good
Unfortunately not a sandy beach but the house reef was great you can't have everything.
If someone asked me if I would go on holiday again ... I would like to answer this question with YES.

5 star all inclusive - 100% go to the toilet - but very, very deep!

Our vacation started with the "evening midnight welcome snack" "or whatever that should be. In addition, there was the "appearance" of the drunk animation staff, who also attended this evening snack with a loud roar. Slightly "surprised" we hadn't thought anything until then! It can happen that the staff also drinks something ...
At first, at night we liked the room very much - it was large and comfortable. TV was uuuurold and mini, but that didn't bother us because we weren't there to gawk at TV anyway (but of course that's a no go for an "alleged 5 star hotel"!).
Unfortunately, the food in the hotel is absolutely disgusting, inedible (a shame, since Egyptian cuisine has so many delicious things to offer), the bathroom was dirty with mold and rust (we even had water damage, which was fixed immediately) and the balcony was big and certainly very, very nice, but also totally worn out (wherever there was a corner or tile, it was broken and worn! It's somehow an art to get it done or not!). The air conditioning in the room smelled and was so loud that you couldn't use it at night.

The beach was right in front of the hotel and nice, but unfortunately the beach chairs were 85%! dirty and worn out. If you daily !!! If you gave a 5 euro tip, you got a reasonably good one.
In the hotel nothing went without a tip - here 3 euros, there 5 euros ... the hand was held up everywhere. If you didn't react, you waited forever for water or something else or was simply ignored - just a joke. Not that we didn't want to give a tip, but then it stops somewhere.
The whole thing is definitely not worth 5 stars and never an "all inclusive" - you have to pay extra everywhere if you want a normal standard.
Very disappointing. On the return flight we met holidaymakers who stayed in a newer 4-star hotel and went home very satisfied. We talked about our "circumstances" and they were just amazed that the "Grand Makadi" has 5 stars .... PLEASE DOWNGRADE, then the future holidaymakers will also know what to expect.

The only positive:
Great reef right from the hotel, location of the hotel is great! The pool is also great, even if somehow 40% of the tiles are broken.

NEVER go back to this hotel. And please, please don't offer this hotel more than 5 stars - that's just not true (anymore).

Service / staff / hospitality:

Service / staff / hospitality:
The entire staff is very friendly. Although they work 12 hours a day and 3 months in a row without WE and vacation ... madness! Didn't see one in a bad mood. Thank you for the tip - which you really deserve! The hotel is not suitable for someone who has high demands, as the hotel cannot be compared with the German standard!

Eat:
There is something for everybody.
We highly recommend the Lebanese where you have to reserve (:
The rest of the restaurants were of course also very good - as I said, everyone has a different taste, but there is definitely something for everyone.

Room:
The rooms are a bit dated - but didn't bother me at all.
Price-performance completely okay!

Animators / leisure activities:
There were various activities throughout the day such as Yoga, stretching, water polo ... etc ...
I thought it was really great - but not suitable for older and inactive people.

Evening programme:
What a shame that the same music always plays .. otherwise everything was very nice to look at and the German guests didn't miss out either - waltzes and disco fox could be danced

Conclusion:
I recommend the hotel! No matter if young or old there is something for everyone (:
I will definitely go to this hotel again!

First of all .... if you are looking for a little entertainment without excursions in this hotel is wrong .... in the evening it is very boring and also the all in drinks are from drink to drink worse ... we would on arrival of one Deluxe room upgraded to a junior suite ... which, in my opinion, has more to do with downhill than climb ... big but very old ... but since we are only there to sleep it was not that bad ... the system itself is fine ... although I like the resort of Makadi Palace much better ... also there is more offered and in the pools over there are no tile pieces as in GM ... and there are really missing many or are loosely in the pool rum .... I'm the whole holiday was ok but we will not be back

This hotel is over rated as a five star herhaps that is why it wasnt listed with Thomas cook. The beach service was the worst i have had in 11 years of visiting Egypt. Most of the staff are friendly and polite and room maid service was excellent. There is no beer bar service and the small plastic cups they serve i hadnt seen that small since the kids where 4 years old. There was more negative sights around the only all inclusive evening outside bar which liked a crime scene with the caution tape around it although the week we were there no maintence work was to be seen. It was a pleasant break with amazing fish to see off the hotel jetty.

Great architecture ... mega planting ... top clean and well kept ... a bit oldschool the rooms but always clean .. German TV impossible (but that is not necessarily bad) ... staff always friendly with German knowledge ... food varied and tastes ... highly recommended! Price performance is right ...

In 2004 this hotel was opened. Unfortunately you can see the hotel's age too. In the pool, the mosaic stones are missing in places, walls in the hallway have been plastered in different colors in places. The TV belongs more in the technology museum than in the room. The bathroom was a good size but shower curtains in the bathtub did not work.
The food selection for me as a vegetarian was rather mau. Unfortunately, the food for me was also very greasy and therefore had constantly stomach problems ...
The staff is friendly and do a good job. For me, this hotel would not necessarily be a place where I would spend my annual holiday.

... is a bit old, but still recommended.
The best is still the same reef, 30m directly in front of the beach.
The Egyptians have now learned that nature, right in front of their noses, is one of the biggest attractions for a beach holiday here.
Corals, fish, rays, turtles ... everything to see on the spot !!!

It would be desirable to expand the free Wi-Fi, which currently there is only one in the lobby and unfortunately also only has a very poor bandwidth.

Journey from May 2019 It is not a 5 star hotel I only give 2 stars some times we stayed in Hurgada this hotel with the name Garan Makadi is the worst. The food is there but no higlight always the same the BBQ was always burned black not to eat. My wife was harassed by the staff, the staff always begged for money. The pool was damaged many holes hurt my foot. Bottle of water I had to pay extra, Cappucino I had to pay extra. All together I can not recommend the hotel

The hotel or the area is really very nice. The hotel itself is unfortunately in need of renovation or rather in need of renovation in our villa and other places as well, eating its way through the walls. The reef is really really beautiful & you can snorkel for ages.
We have been to Egypt many times but for the first time at the Grand Makadi. 5 of us came, 3 of us got sick. One of them so bad that he was in the hospital for a day. The food is really a disaster & I can't understand who says it tastes good. There's little choice & it's just bad. We are wiped out of necessity on the restaurants, in taboush you can at least eat halfway decent everything else is for the bin. The spagetti at the Italian was either boiled dead or half raw and sticky, the sauces were all tipped. Inside the kitchen it looks adventurous, the culmination was the last evening in the island restaurant .. I have never eaten such a disgusting fish in my whole life. The staff was very friendly and always helpful, but even they cannot comfort them about the grievances. It would be better to add another 100 euros & treat yourself to a nice culinary holiday.
Unfortunately, we won't be back because of the catering, too bad.

Best holiday ever!!! Beautiful stylish Egyptian hotel which will impress you during the day and after the sunsets.
A lot of greens all around hotel keep shade for you in hot days and make the scenery more beautiful with colourful flowers.
Spacious junior suit with big enough balcony.
All inclusive gives you a range food to choose from between restaurants however for some food and drinks you would need to pay (the prices will be in the menu or on the board next to the dish/drink)
There are a lot of shops with gifts, pharmacy and illy coffee shop with best ice creams ever around the hotel. Prices very similar as not the same as in Hurghada centre. However it is always worth to negotiate. There is no need to leave hotel at all.
Staff is very friendly and helpful (it is a nice gesture to tip staff).
Hotel has very beautiful, colourful full of life reef with octopuses, murenas and turtles. Best spot for snorkelling even for not very good swimmers as all equipment is available on the jetty. You are allowed to use life jacket or other support to snorkel.

Although this is not the newest hotel - everything is just right here, friendly and helpful staff, clean (a bit worn) rooms but nice, tasty food, great reef for snorkeling, nice service I found a beach towel bag in the room ready lay, only the annoying massage and pedicure recruiter on the beach I found annoying, here I like to go back!
