Holidays from 25.11.2017-10.12.2017 Room 2036 The room cleaner is still the best, the rest is bad. Service at the restaurants very bad except for the in the Italian restaurant at night from 2: 00-7: 00. Lagoon you will only be served if you have a blue ribbon on, or if you tip, with such a service but I would not give it.
On the beach there is a small snack for hamburgers, hot dogs etc. the boy makes an effort.
Rooms are old but good, except for the mattresses are located by. If you know you get a small where you almost roll down when turning ...
Pool is not to use because the whole tiles are broken.
For everything you should pay, although all-in was offered ...
Again to the service, so bad I have not experienced ...

Hotel is getting old, the breakfast is not, on the tables napkins, cutlery just everything. In the theme restaurant you can eat well. It is a machine the rip-off. If you want to eat well you have to always pay. The beach chairs are all broken, not to mention the conditions, the whole day you are from Strandboys with massage and cosmetics, hairdresser, etc. annoyed as well Iced coffee and smoothie. There is also no evening program. The management must urgently come up with something !!!!!!
We spent a lovely week of snorkeling here. The coral reef is just a few meters from the beach. You can either reach the reef via the hotel's own jetty or on foot (ideally with bathing shoes). At high tide you can also swim there, the water is then about half a meter to a meter deep. You can already see plenty of fish here. On the beach you lie in pairs under fixed umbrellas and partitions give you some privacy from your neighbors. The hotel itself is unfortunately getting old. Something should be done at every nook and cranny. Our room (upgrade junior suite) was large and nicely furnished and also clean. The bed was 2 x 2 meters and very comfortable. The TV was still a small tube TV, but you're not here to watch TV ;-) Now to the food. Apart from the fact that in Egypt you still haven't understood what all inclusive means, the food was generally quite bland and boring with little variety. The water that is served tastes of chlorine and of the bottled water there is only one small amount allocated per day. That didn't work at all. All in all it was a nice vacation on the Red Sea but next time I would choose a different hotel.
5 stars does not pull, there are many little things such as there is no Internet in the rooms, many paid services, although the hotel is 5 stars, it still looks tired
Amazing hotel. Our second visit now. We are here at the moment, the staff welcomed us back with open arms. Service is the best. Never an empty glass etc. Rooms are always clean and tidy. Marine life is really good off the jetty & you can borrow all equipment needed. Faultless hotel
An older hotel but it is maintained with much love. It feels immediately very affectionately received. Was already there 5 times and it will not be the last time
Actually, I had little expectations of the hotel after reading the recently written reviews. But when we arrived at the hotel at night and could take a look at the beautiful lighting was actually already clear that this holiday can not go completely wrong, as some describe here. Of course, the hotel is getting a bit old, the flow in the pool are no longer available at every point and the buffet buffet after a few days very one-sided, but there are many positive points. The coral reef effect in front of the hotel complex is very impressive, the staff are mostly helpful and in a good mood, the rooms are large and clean, the restaurants are very good and the complex offers several shuttles, sometimes even free, in the city.
All in all, the holiday in the Grand Makadi was very successful, if you not only focused on negative things, as is often the case with us German.
Excellent beach location. Rooms a little tired but large and comfortable. Staff very friendly and helpful. A la carte restaurants mostly good, buffet restaurant a little disappointing.
Were from December 28, 2019 to January 4, 2020 at the Makadi Grand Are only partially enthusiastic. The location of the hotel is fantastic and the rooms are great for value for money. We stayed in villa 1 and could go straight to the pool. However, a lot of tiles are missing in the pool and some of the edges are really razor sharp. Pool water was still a pleasant 20 degrees. The wind was the problem. The sea right by the hotel is actually only suitable for snorkeling. So not suitable for small children. The staff was very friendly but only with tip. Often felt very forced ... For New Year's Eve we were tried all the time to sell a dinner or just a table for around 38 euros per person! To really have space and to participate in the entertainment in the evening! That is really very indecent and certainly forbidden because you book all inclusive so also on New Year's Eve! Also at the check out an attempt was made to collect more money than necessary ... the best thing about the whole vacation were the excursions. Quad, serve, ride and go snorkeling or even diving! An absolute must! Oh yeah the food .. what well ok ... We will definitely travel to egypt again but not so much to the makadi grand .. for people under 40 the evening entertainment in the hotel and in the area is also very mild ....
Catastrophic conditions! The hotel doctor gave me wrong medication which I had to pay despite the return. The guy at the front desk was very naughty and threatened me not to leave home if I did not pay everything. So I paid the medis on the one hand were wrong and I did not even have more. I still had to go to the hospital and got an infusion because I was dehydrated. Then I finally got better. But the whole thing with the hotel doctor and the front desk was so bottom drawer.
I recently stayed with my girlfriend for 1 week. In itself the area is very nice in the evening, but unfortunately the food is not there at all! After the first 4 days we got food poisoning and hung the rest of the holidays just over the toilet! Immediately after a dinner dinner I felt very bad and was only handed over! When I approached the front desk the manager wanted to tell me that I should have caught this by other influences. Very brazen! But he wants to talk to the hotel management about it! Am I curious if she changes something! I would not eat there and definitely not meat! And the men who run around there and always offer their services, be it massage or any tours are really annoying and do not let up! Now to the sea .. The sea I would have imagined better .. Since the corals are unfortunately right at the beginning of the beach you can not go into the water from there but only over a long jetty! I think it's a pity. The air conditioning in the room could have been a bit stronger otherwise the room was - ok! And a little tip, take enough water from home! The water from Egypt which comes from the water supply can not drink and you should not use it for brushing it all smells of toilet water. The pool areas must be urgently renovated! My girlfriend was injured by the solvent pool plates in the water on the hand Bzw cut! Something is not the pools dissolve in the meantime! That's my honest opinion and experience. I will not visit this hotel anymore!
Restaurants, staff, hotel great. Here we had an unforgettable birthday. Lagoon staff 1 room was always at 16.30 - too late and mostly something was missing. But on the whole always recommendable.
The very last. There were four of us. All 4 sick. Everything in the room dirty and old. The food under all sau. Except in the Lebanese restaurant of the complex. Unfriendly employees. Was the first time in Egypt and experienced a total failure. Then again Spain, France Italy.
The hotel should be closed for a long time for renovation and the management should be changed. Please don't go there
One is actually pressured to tip in a number of ways. Not much is possible without a tip.
This is not all inclusive !!!!! This is by no means a 5 star hotel. !!!!!!! This hotel is a maximum of Spanish 3 stars !!!!!!!
Super.very variety of food. Many free restaurants. A bit small sea, but great for children. The water is clean, the sea is warm. The pools are cleaned constantly. The rooms are super.
I read a few reviews on the way here and thought the place might be not as expected, but I m here now and it s great. Great resort and great food and service from the staff
A super nice hotel we are very pleasantly surprised what everything is offered for the food which is already included in all inclusive at a la carte restaurants etc.
This hotel is absolutely not worth five stars. Rooms are in a catastrophic condition, dirty, broken, poorly repaired. This morning the balcony door came towards us. Not everything is all inclusive here. U half of the drinks are always empty. Food is sometimes really disgusting and does not correspond to any hygiene standard. This morning I just pulled hair out of my Omleet; O We're never going back here! We have been to Egypt several times and have booked 5 stars, we have never experienced anything like that!
The hotel area was a bit old. But you are renovating it. Beautiful well-kept parks. The rooms are clean for the conditions here. Staff is mostly friendly. Is a lot on tip from here. Best take the euro. Wifi is only available in the Loby. And that is extremely slow.
Fantastic location, friendly staff, the beach is sand and the Reef, sea off the beach is rock so take rock shoes with you if you intend to go in the water, the Reef off the peer is stunning. The hotel complex is nice, the rooms are a good size, although the bathrooms need a makeover, and a good cleaning. Food in the hotel restaurants is a bit hit an miss, edible but nothing to shout home about. The pools big, and we always found somewhere to sit, and enjoy the sun. Small tips to the staff get you a big smile and a little better service, 1 euro goes a long way. I would go back.
Very bad not recommended. This facility does not correspond to a five star hotel but rather a 2 star. For every consideration you have to pay money even if the towels come to the room. There is no sandy beach. You have to reach the water via a bridge that is more defective than good. In the swimming pool, all tiles dissolve. Very high risk of injury. Our room was broken as the pictures say. Never again.
Awesome animators, DJ. Friendly staff, great food, fish and corals wonderful. Fun all day. The staff speaks German, English and Slovak (a little :)). Maximum satisfaction in beautiful surroundings.
Well known and always very beautiful. Spacious, family-friendly hotel that is like a residence. Super large, comfortable, clean rooms with a terrace and sea view. Absolutely close to the beach! ! Spacious, beautiful area with a large pool area for everyone. Several different restaurants with very good food and extremely friendly and helpful staff are integrated. All in hotel leaves nothing to be desired. ***
Watch out !!! Many positive reviews are obtained on site from the staff with a lot of skill and charm.
Unfortunately, the hotel has had its prime. This is particularly noticeable in the bathrooms and the hotel pool. The bathtub with shower curtain is an impertinence for European standards and in the pool the tiles are peeling off over a large area.
The all-inclusive catering is very limited and there are many ways to spend extra money, e.g. for coffee, ice cream, shakes, cocktails, better food .......
AI drinks are served in small disposable plastic cups. These cups are then inevitably found again on the house reef. We urgently need to rethink this. After all, the nature of the Red Sea is one of the main attractions for tourists from all over the world.
The staff is generally friendly, although the service is heavily dependent on the tip. The hotel complex is well-kept and makes a good impression. Small blemishes due to age excluded.
You can relax for a week in this hotel, but the demands shouldn't be too high. Even in Egypt you can easily find better standards in this price range.
I went there from 05.11 to 19.11 holiday, the hotel has 5 stars but only on the paper. Not recommended, eat poor, no selection, very worn, currently 3 construction sites. I do not want to say more, Andreas.
So this post should be a help that others do not have the problems we had:
For clarification:
Room: We arrived Saturday to Sunday night and were initially a little shocked about the bathroom (shower) because this area is totally dirty and worn and the shower curtain is much too short so that the water basically runs past it and the whole bathroom floods. Rooms are with Equipped with a small TV this is so old that it surts so loudly that it is really uncomfortable in the ears, as is the climate
Eat:
I have problems with my stomach due to a medical condition and have clicked my way through both doctor and reviews and only read good recession. It is well known with the history of the stomach in Egypt but that you don't even offer food here except rice and noodles that everyone can eat is sad! And from a 5 star hotel I simply expect variety apart from kebab pizza and noodle and one kind of meat, there was nothing! Apart from fish, I'm an eater of everything, but sorry, it's like pork! There was chicken meatballs at lunchtime, we were very happy, well, unfortunately, the joy was over on the plate because it was unfortunately not done, I thought it could happen, and said the cook made new ones, same game here too! Conclusion from the food absolutely failed!
Miscellaneous:
A room is currently being converted for a new kitchen or something. This construction work starts at 5.30am and goes on until 4am so try to sleep for 1 1/2 hours !!! That is so loud that we thought there was a helicopter flying around because everything in the room was shaking and the floor was vibrating (midnight!) I went looking and quickly found a construction site under the hotel! Right under our room !!! That went on until 4 o'clock! Although the reception says 10 min
guest care Anja makes a nice impression at first, but you can tell that she is annoyed by the complaints
Conclusion was we were transferred to the sunwing and are mega happy and doing very well there :)
A little old hotel in need of some maintenance but with good room cleaning service every day, clean towels, water bottles, huge room with a beautiful balcony, the restaurants leave a little to be desired, friendly staff but always waiting for a tip Coralthe coral in front of the hotel is fantastic the sea is fantastic crystal clear water, other fun outside the hotel like safari and visit to Luxor I really liked it
Was the fourth time here. I think it's always nice here. If you have such high standards, you should go to Switzerland. I also like the staff very nice. If you see how some tourists behave, I'm surprised that the staff are still served. I will come back and also recommend the hotel.
I'm still in the hotel and I'm still thrilled. Small point as a criticism first. The pool should get new tiles where they are missing. (Therefore only 4 stars) Extremely nice, friendly and helpful staff. Very nice coral reef right on the hotel beach. (therefore no fine sand to go into the water) but exactly what I want to snorkel and watch fish. Price / performance ratio was great. At any time again
In itself a good and clean hotel. Already a bit dated, but that didn't bother me. Unfortunately a lot of extra costs, for example for shows and the evening program or drinks on the beach. The food was delicious but almost the same every day, very, very little variety. The staff is always friendly, but sometimes a bit too friendly to young women. Rooms were large and well equipped, very large bed and plenty of storage space. The bathroom was already pretty shabby. The wifi is very, very bad and can only be used in the lobby and only if less than 10 people are there. On the whole, I was satisfied, but I wouldn't go on vacation there again.
The hotel is a complete disaster. The system in need of renovation as such makes a good impression on sigar at first glance. It gets bad with the food. The restaurants are hygienic as well as a disaster in terms of quality. There was more than one evening when we preferred feeling hungry to the buffet. Everything boiled to death and the selection was very limited. There wasn't even french fries as a side dish in the evening. The meat mostly inedible. The drinks at the bar were also inedible, so that instead of a long drink, the water was on the table in the end. The staff is maximally corrupt. When we checked in, we were told in private that if we didn't get a decent tip, the room wouldn't be a nice place for a vacation. This experience ran like a thread through the whole vacation. If you did not give the staff a decent tip every day, you would not be served at all or only after a long wait. The pool looks great, but it's not heated and has a temperature of just 18 degrees. Unfortunately, swimming is not possible. The audience at the facility was very difficult. A mix of Ballermann fans, friends of golden sands and people who have apparently already been seen on RTL 2. But ok, what do you expect in this price range. The weather was super ;-)
Anlage promises more on the internet than it can hold in live. In the pool, the whole tiles dissolve. In the room is saltpetre on the walls. Private tourism organizers are not allowed at the hotel ancestors.
My first impression of the hotel was not so good. I was 3 years ago in the Makadi Palace (next to the Grand Makadi) and had the direct comparison. However, the impression has improved, staff (especially the men at the pool and in the restaurants) are very very friendly, I think that more important than so many tiles on the pool floor. I had a week's stay and was celebrated very warmly (flowers in the room, bed decorated, cake, 2x) So if you do not insist on a new resort I would recommend the Grand Makadi, but you have to admit that it was getting old.
The staff is very friendly and helpful and in a good mood and likes to have fun. You can also relax well. The weather was good temperature average 23 degrees water temperature was about 22 degrees we were snorkeling.
The Grand Makadi convinces with its value for money and the very hard-working and friendly staff. Of course, the "5 stars" are not German / true 5 stars, but still we have for a small Taler (~ 550 ) and only $ 20 tip in the luggage experienced a great holiday week. We have a direct comparison to the sister hotel Makadi Palace, which we had booked last year and unfortunately we have to say that the Palace through its "newer" pool area, the more extensive entertainment and the larger buffet selection the Grand Makadi aussticht. Nevertheless, all in all, for the price absolutely okay and for small money you should not expect a luxury hotel. Snorkeling over the jetty on the reef is a must for everyone, as you can see great fish even as a beginner. Beach sections / loungers and pools of the two hotels are apparently separate, but of course both may be used at will! The restaurants unfortunately not, only the a la carte restaurants with advance reservation. All staff were very hard-working and even in the a la Card restaurants there were free soft drinks, although this was criticized several times in the other reviews. The missing tiles in the pool were "not nice" but there is no risk of injury, as some have described. Noislers should save the booking, I wish all the rest a great holiday!
Teplo.super staff..obskakuju you at ranajkach.obed, dinner, and especially in the evening bar ;-) for dollar, or euros, those guys obskakuku ... I really enjoyed there a sigh..odporucam Top !!
Unfortunately, the service has decreased a bit. A great guest supervisor has been added for this. Instead of greeting, she bows her head. It's a shame, doesn't make a good impression. Hope it gets better with the new management. I wish it to you !!!!
The hotel cares about cleanliness, although the tooth of time has already bitten the bathroom. Service as per Egyptian conditions ok, a sense of security at the hotel at a high level, thank you for your concern. Breakfast rather poor, no madness, for early dinners by the beach are served delicious burgers with fries, tasty dinners, if anyone wants to eat well, let them visit a Lebanese restaurant, great atmosphere and food full of flavor. Pools gnawed by a tooth of time, while the reef is beautiful from the beach or from the pier.
Stayed here in July 10 of us the food was awful the toaster was broken the pool grandkids further feet husband cut finger on sunbed my list goes on complained to rep and when we got home they not interested brush off
A brilliant hotel. Staff are very attentive and everything is either being cleaned, polished our replenished (including the beers!) We now have it on our 'places to go' list. After being all over Europe and long haul too, this place ticks all the boxes for us,great weather, great beach, coral reef, diving, relaxed atmosphere ,everything!
A very successful and beautiful holiday the service and the friendliness really great. The rooms are very nice but also a bit getting old, but nothing is moving world. If there is something wrong with the room, it is very hard to put the whole thing in order or to ensure replacement without hesitation. I would visit this hotel again.
Stayed there as a couple for 7 days. Not recommended.
Per: Very large pool, with some shady spots depending on the position of the sun. Even when it's full, it can fit a lot of people. Libraries from which you can take books to the beach. Beautiful reef right on the doorstep, you can snorkel there and are provided with equipment. Preferably only with aqua shoes. Lots of colorful fish. Nice tours to Luxor and Cairo, but also snorkeling, etc. Restaurant Leonardo very tasty and great service. Often changing selection at the buffet. Many of the staff speak German there.
Cons: Hygiene standard very low. Beverage containers are washed with bare hands while the drink is still in and then served again. Drinks adulterated with tap water (although not allowed by the tourist board), as well as the ice cubes. We both had bowel problems because of this lack of hygiene. Food bland, dirty dishes too, fruit already brown. Reservations must be made in the good a la carte restaurants, but the rush is understandably high here. Partly raw food. Drinks on the beach in tiny cups. Despite being all inclusive, you can pay more anywhere. If you don't accept specials like BBQ for 35 euros or the like, you will be grumbled afterwards. Sometimes very annoyed by employees who wanted to turn something on. Part of the room was in a catastrophic condition (broken floor tiles, shower hose moldy, bathtub dirty and moldy, no toilet brush, very little lighting), sometimes it was hardly cleaned. The door was very difficult to open and close, sometimes the door handle came towards you. Several tiles are missing at the pool, risk of injury! Staff very unfriendly in places, interrupts you and is sometimes abusive, just wants to turn on the expensive additional payment things (many, such as the Leonardo, are very nice and courteous). Very eager to tip. This is quite common in Egypt, we did that too, but we didn t bring the suitcases out after he had taken them from the bus because we had no money at the time, it went a little too far. On the first day we were taken aside at check-in, for which we had to wait a good 60 minutes, and we were secretly offered a room in the makadi spa. We refused, that sounded untrustworthy. Later it turned out from other guests that this was offered because of overcrowding - but that could have been said and not come across as sly. Reserving the loungers on the beach and at the pool is really bad, sometimes something is already around at 5am. Pool also seems to have hardly any chlorine, larvae and something that looked like tadpoles swam towards us several times. Wifi only in the lobby and not in the rooms, you can buy a router for 25 euros for the room. As a result, several people sit in the lobby all day and the network cannot really be used (but good, you are not on vacation for that either). We had booked a deluxe room, but it was two single beds pushed together, like the above broken tiles and dirty, partly non-functional sanitary facilities, broken bed linen. It wasn't really deluxe. Lighting in the corridor is very sparse.
In short, there are beautiful aspects to those who value nature and the sea and the starry sky. But if you still want to eat properly without cramps, and think hygiene in the food and the rooms is important, this hotel is not recommended. Of course there are different standards in Egypt, but you can expect more from an alleged 4 star hotel.
Hello Everybody! I have spent 2 wonderful holidays in Grand Makadi 10 and 12 years ago with my girlfriend and we are planning on coming back again this autumn. I am from Romania, she is from Kenya. Despite the fact that I have been trying for the last 2 weeks to make a reservation on sites i havent succecced and nobody has given me a reply about why not, can you please (and i am talking about some staff member) expalin to me what i am supposed to do or explain how I can book a reservation. I hear that the problem can be because we are not married, is this true? For me this is hard to believe!
For several years now, I've always been flying to Egypt in December with my best friend and family. What happened to us this year (2019) was awesome. We booked an additional service in a restaurant. Great food, great service too. But then there was no more drinking was very strange! When asked, they wanted to apologize and invited us again a few days later. But be careful! It was calculated again. Nothing with an invitation! Even the tour guide didn't take care of us. Conclusion: the neighboring hotel palace is better! There we were in 2017
