Beautiful ambiance, very knowledgeable employees in the restaurant, delicious food with beautiful wines. The hotel is also spot-on with beautifully decorated rooms, classic and modern at the same time. A fantastic weekend ended with a delicious breakfast.

Very good and consistent at every aspect, however cleanliness even in executive suits needs serious attention to details, as well as capacity of the spa beauty services very limited.Hotel has to make walking between buildings, women freindlyand make more eady paths, as now almostall are full small pebblestones, which is impossible for high heals and ruins a y shoes other than not expendive sneakers
This place never disappoints, it has everything you'd expect from an upscale Hotel like this. From the very nice and polite staff, to the really large set up rooms in this beautiful old little palace, to the attention to detail when it comes to things like a toothbrush and razorblade and other stuff you might have forgotten being there. This was our second visit here and we'll be making sure we book here every time we visit the charming city of Utrecht.
Was there with a company outing. Very luxurious, 5 courses and so on. The waiter had spilled a drink on a colleague's t-shirt and they even offered to pay for the dry cleaning. Pretty neat.
Great hotel. Staff is great. Room great with good beds and separate bath and shower. Breakfast on level incl. Champagne! Also top location at CS and downtown. Parking in front of the door.
Great hotel. We spent there more than a week and enjoyed it a lot. location is excellent, close to center. There's also a nice small indoor pool. Staff is very friendly.
Just hotel with a lot of atmosphere. The room that we were in was ok. But that was probably because we had a guide dog with us and dogs are often not allowed in the beautiful rooms while and dog, and certainly our dog, is usually cleaner than a human ... Location is great!
Brilliant room with really nice staff except the bartender. While the bar would be open until midnight, he said at 11.15 pm that he was closing. By God's grace, he gave a wine to the five of us with the comment that we had to hurry. Shadow on our stay and a reason not to come back.
Grand Hotel. A beautiful location in Utrecht and with interesting history about Karel V. In this 14th century monastery there was therefore a meeting of all knights led by Karel V. Check Wikipedia
We stayed one night in this very nice hotel. Reception and service were great, room perfect, good beds. I have 1 comment which I found less. When checking out the young man behind the reception desk started talking English to me twice. He let himself be. Distract by the conversation in English next to him. It seemed to me as not professional.
Slept here during a weekend in Utrecht. It has been expanded with a new wing. Does not have the charm of the past. Well in the middle of the city. Breakfast was completely overloaded. Unfortunately.
This hotel understands what hospitality is! Whether you come for a high tea, a dinner or an extensive arrangement, all the staff are super friendly and service-oriented. Fantastic breakfast too, with goodies such as pancakes or poached egg on the a la carte menu.
Stayed here early 2019. Excellent hotel. Looks great. Room was spacious, tidy with the right amenities. Hotel facilities are just okay. Hotel is spread over different buildings, with breakfast at the center. This is absolutely no objection. At all exits there are umbrellas and there is also an umbrella in the room if the weather is less. Staff is friendly and very attentive, so professional. Hotel is on 5 star level, that's for sure. In my eyes that level is certainly not achieved for the inner person.
Have eaten in the Bistro (restaurant is apparently not always open, not even on a Friday evening) and the quality was high, but in terms of volume somewhat on the scanty side.
Also the breakfast the next morning, was not really special. In many a 4-star hotel I have enjoyed a more extensive and better breakfast. For example, the appearance of the breakfast was almost straightforward; the eye also wants to be spoiled. And for me that simple thing was also in the offered; average products and the average segment.
And both in the bistro section and at breakfast I found the total lack of privacy very disturbing. Tables were placed so close to one that you cannot escape forced listening in from other people's conversations and other guests with yours.
So in summary: a great hotel with great staff, where I am happy to come back again, but Utrecht has better eateries on offer to eat.
I had the best experience in this hotel. It's one of the world heritage hotel. I have stayed in many, but in Karel V, I was pampered. I stayed in this hotel for 6 weeks, and glad that I chose this. The location of the hotel is one of the best in Utrecht and you'll have a king like experience.
The staff, including the reception, housekeeping, room service and everyone else are genuinely nice. The hotel is in a calm and quiet location, yet a stones throw away from all the good restaurants and pubs and clubs. It's incredible.
The staff's response is so swift, which we don't really receive in multi floored hotels. I miss that customized breakfast of mine. The orange juice was heavenly.
Good hotel. Friendly staff. Good breakfast. Wherever you may order from the menu and champagne However, noisy rooms in the annex are therefore a deduction
Spent our wedding night here and it was superb. Everything as you would expect at a star hotel. Good staff who can arrange absolutely everything for you, nice room, beautiful view of the Dom and good food.
Many points for improvement .. maarrrr the big advantage that you walk out the gate and you are directly in the center. They have many rooms, all with unpronounceable names, especially if you come from abroad. The rooms cannot be found, (good) signs would help enormously. Salmon wraps fine, but sandwiches with egg salad dirty. Pens and paper would be handy. Nice rooms, good seats. Trash cans were missing. Snacks with drinks were very standard in the 90s, but ok .. but greasy. Parking is very pricey and road signs now leave much to be desired with an open street, almost everyone drove into the dead end. The biggest plus is that it is really directly against the center. Location certainly has potential. Better sandwich spreads, better names for the halls and better signs could easily push this hotel to 4 stars.
UNHELPFUL staffs. OVERRATED!!!! DISAPPOINTED~ Front desk and account are not communicate. Double Charged (up to 4 guests) without any apologies. Not refunded immediately!!!!!! THE MOST TERRIBLE HOTEL I EVER SEEN.
we had the most wonderful stay. super nice and halpful staff, quiet and calm atmosphere. room was specious and comfortable, with everything you might need. it was great to start the day at the gym followed by pool and sauna.
Had a wonderful time in terms of room accommodation (empire room) as well as facilities and bistro / restaurant ... in the middle of the beautiful center of Utrecht. In addition, the service is also completely in order.
Very nice atmosphere and had a nice lunch. Nice dishes and a changing lunch menu. Had a wonderful bisque and skreij. A must if you want to eat relaxed with atmosphere.
