Great hotel, friendly staff and very central!
Rooms were clean, beds comfortable and overall atmosphere was relaxed despite the elaborate setting!
We stayed with our two dogs and the staff were super accommodating!

Friendly staff and a very good breakfast buffet. The rooms are large and clean, room service is available and in the room you can make yourself a cup of coffee or tea. There is also a pool and a gym.

Large and very clean rooms, but the decor is quite old-fashioned. Very good breakfast buffet where you can also order fresh dishes such as pancake, waffles, etc. The breakfast room is beautiful with high ceilings and beautiful ornaments. The hotel itself is very clean and well maintained. The gelding is beautifully green and it is wonderfully quiet both inside and out due to the low traffic. In the summer you can relax on the terrace with a beer! Centrally located in the heart of Utrecht.

Despite its location in the middle of the city, the hotel is an oasis of tranquility and hospitality. Perfect as a pit stop during shopping. The restaurant and the service do their utmost to ensure that everyone has a wonderful meal, no matter how difficult the dietary requirements. The decoration is luxurious and tasteful and the garden is also a feast for the eyes.
Wonderful hotel to spend the night. Festive meetings can also be very well organized here. Very nice location. Business is also very good to use with private rooms outside the hotel.
Gorgeous hotel. The rooms are really beautiful, decorated in fancy older style. The breakfast buffet was really lovely. The hotel is walking distance from the city center but far away enough that it is quiet at night. The only downside is that the parking lot is quite small and tight, but it is walking distance from the train station.
I have stayed at Karel V 4 days a week for the last 9 months. While some of the rooms could use a little refurbishment, the service is impeccable

Probably the nicest hotel in Utrecht, Karel V is also in a very good location to explore the area and do some shopping. The historic property is set among gardens in the city. The spacious rooms have plenty of natural light and the beds are very comfortable. The restaurant and bistro both are fantastic. Staff were very kind!
Beautiful location. Just like my review, also a 5-star hotel in the heart of Utrecht. Very nice meeting location and tasty but not very extensive lunch buffet. Then don't miss the 'regular' filet american sandwiches or brie sandwich with honey etc. instead of chickpea salad and rice. But that is perhaps a matter of taste ...

I wonder how the hell do they charge 180 EU a night for a room. Worst beds i ve seen. On my room the mattress was concave Balcony had so much dirt you could plant potatoes and get a batch out just before you leave. My body is itchy from the sheets I m guessing. Really I would prefer to have to walk 5km s next time rather than stay in that again. Again how the hell is that even 4568 stars hotel.

Not really a 5 star hotel compared to other 5 star hotels I have been. That is why I subtract one star. They are too expensive for 5 star level which they are not offering
Very pleasant accommodation with electric car parking. Tiny pool, but it has a water jet you can swim against. Nice place, great location.
Delicious lunch in the bistro. Neatly received and neat card at reasonable prices. Food quality very good. Ambiance is an oasis of peace and history in the busy city center of Utrecht. Recommended.

Service and interior are top notch, but miss an eye for details. No shower gel on 1st day, no extra blankets in the closet and duvet is too warm with the heat wave. Stone sink looks beautiful, but the faucet is not the right size / incorrectly measured so a lot of water falls next to the sink, loudly creaking shower door and toilet door, hair in the bathtub, red streaks in the bathtub probably nail polish. No staff available in breakfast room to place orders and loud creaking chairs and wobbling tables.
Best hotel in Utrecht. If you have the bucks and you like the luxury then stay here.
Incredibly beautiful hotel in the heart of Utrecht. The staff is friendly and everything looks neat and tidy. In the inner square you hear nothing of the bustle of Utrecht. The hotel is within walking distance of the center for great shopping. Definitely recommended, although it is just dive into the wallet.

Beautiful historic building right in the center of Utrecht. I have only been there for meetings and especially the atmosphere and the lunch are a plus. The acoustics are minimal in the halls where I have been and the technical facilities are ok. But the atmosphere makes up for a lot!

A lovely historic complex right in the center of Utrecht, some 5 mins walk from the train station - yet quiet and stately, with a large garden and own terrace cafe. Our room was clean and well-furbished, but quite old - it must have been a fabulous hotel some 20 years ago. Still, this has not caused us any problems, all amenities are functioning fine. Overall, a hotel "with a soul", a great choice for those who'd like something special in a great location - yet those who value state-of-the-art facilities and seek for the newest possible interiors should search elsewhere.

This is a good hotel, conveniently located, elegant and relatively cheap. I stayed here and visited Amsterdam, but it was a great answer. The service is also very good.
Hotel is located in nice grounds, a 5 minute walk from Utrecht Centraal train station. I stayed in the Roman Wing - The rooms are quite nice: decent size, good shower & Bath, Nespresso machine, however no Iron/Ironing board in the room and the Bed wasnt great (I booked a Double but ended up with two uncomfortable Singles pushed together, not what you'd expect for the price paid). The outside Bar area is nice, staff are friendly, bar snacks are a bit limited. Breakfast is good, with a good variety of food
Excellent restaurant, in a prime location in Utrecht. Delicious eaten. Special dishes, nice surprising culinary inventions, smooth service, beautiful wines and all for a reasonable price. As far as I'm concerned it's really time that Karel V. gets a star!

A luxurious restaurant for fine dining. Both service and food are excellent. I had an interesting dessert - part of it (cake) was warm but the rest was cold (ice cream).

Most pricey high tea I have done so far but was definitely worth it! We were welcomed in a beautiful ballroom where we started the high tea with bubbles. The snacks are chic and unique so as a pallet cleaner we received a cucumber snack (gel, ice cream and something else from cucumber) everything was delicious and the service sublime! We came for a bachelor party and were treated like princesses!
What comes out of the kitchen is good and the service is correct. Nicely situated in old monastery (now hotel). In terms of atmosphere, we found the large restaurant hall itself to be somewhat cold and unimpressive. Parking in front of the door is an advantage.
Friendly staff, rentable bikes (8 Euros per half day for one bike), comfortable robes, lovely rooms with clean bathrooms, fridges, desks, and pretty curtains. Good heaters! I recommend walking around the first floor and looking at the historic artifacts from when the hotel was a military hospital. They have free, ready to eat apples laying out in the hallways, a delicious and wholesome treat!
