Exceptional German-inflected beer selection served in appropriate glassware from a beautiful bar. Great German food. Outstanding interior and patio seating. Tucked away and intimate, yet roomy and able to accommodate large groups.

Great beer selection with a great outdoor sitting area. The service was painfully slow at the bar so get a liter of whatever you're drinking. Got a large order of fries and they were tasty.

Amazing pub with wonderful beer selection, both German and American, good German food. Plus the added benefit of a good sized store with lots of imported German goods (the Curry Ketchup and spice cookies are particular favorites of mine). Store closes much earlier than the pub, pub entrance is in the back only, when store is closed.

Their beer selection is wonderful, and food is great. They have different types of sausage, and daily specials. I had the best hamburger of my life here! Try the Andechs beer if they have it, highest rated beer with good reason!

They have a great selection of German beers on tap...

They have a great selection of German beers on tap, and even their pear cider is deliciously unique. It's a very popular place, and has the liveliest beer house environment on the peninsula. You always feel like you're walking into a party. The thing is, it's extremely difficult to get a seat if you come after 5pm. There is no hostess to meet you at the door and put you on a waiting list. So you and your buddies just have to squeeze in and stand next to a table like vultures, hoping the people occupying that table will leave. It can get awkward, when you have people waiting and the people on the table are still hanging around chatting for 15+ minutes after they've drained their mugs.

As for the food, be warned that their kitchen closes early (8pm last time I checked) so be there early if you want proper food with your drink. They have a wide selection that includes other European-style fare aside from German fare. I agree that the "German" food here is not authentic German food; it has obviously been tweaked for American tastes. Foreigners who visit Germany often complain that the food there is too bland for them. So it follows that a German would find the food at this place too spicy.

Service is kind of a hit or miss; the servers are super nice and chill but because the place is super busy, it can be a challenge to get the attention of somebody to take your order. Once I ordered a drink and the guy completely forgot about it. Half an hour later, when I finally asked him about it, he apologized profusely. He promptly brought me my drink and said it was on him because of the slip-up.

Crowded but in a good way. Great local spot with German Beers served in large glasses. Friendly service. Did I mention crowded? Limited food selection, but goes well with drink. Their Oktoberfest celebration is highly recommended.

This is one of those places that makes you proud of your town. If it disappeared, I would be crushed. Excellent staff, excellent beer selection and authentic, if limited, German cuisine. The actual store is amazing too. Some of the goods here you can't even find in Deutschland anymore.

The best! This is the top must-go beer place in Redwood City. Nice staff, great food, great beers, funky fun gift shop. The only thing to watch out for is that it will ALWAYS be crowded, and parking (as always in downtown RWC) is a pain. Well worth putting up with however. Can be quite loud inside from the crowds, the enclosed outside seating can help. All worth it.

this place rocks - if you like great beer, this is the place to come. They have a limited menu but it is all tasty. The giant pretzel with meat and cheese is my favorite. It gets super crowded and loud after 6 when it is flooded from people getting off work. I try to come early to eat at 5, don't like all the noise. I didn't take away any stars for that because the food and beer are just that good.

This place is a gem! Ordered the schnitzel and a warm pretzel along with one of the German drinks, I cannot remember the name of at the moment, and was very satisfied! The food was spot on! I've eaten at many German restaurants, and this is easily at the top. The grocery store has some of the best selection of german and European goods I have found in the bay area, and the staff were delightful! I would 100% recommend you try this place for their food, hospitality, and market! Amazing experience and can't wait to return!

I just went there last week since I had heard good things about the place. Well, if you are there for beer, it is a good place. However, the food is just terrible. The pretzels are good but the rest is pretty bad. I am German and went to most of the German food places in the Bay Area. This one stands out as having the least authentic food. I had the currywurst and had a hard time finishing it up. The seasoning was just way too spicy. This heat was pretty much in all of the dishes we had, including the mustard. In my 20 years of living in Germany, I have not had a currywurst that was like theirs. Even the sausage itself was not that great. If you go, just drink beer and eat somewhere else.

Has gotten extremely popular the last few years making it hard to find a table. But they have the best legit German beers on tap in the South Bay. Plus snacks (pretzels, brats) and a first class beer selection in the shop out front. The popularity is deserved!

First time here was last week in the back, in the Beer Garden!
Love it! The choices of Beer they have here are amazing, and food options are delicious as well!

Their prices for drinks are really great too!
Love the set up and style, inside can get hot pretty quick, so if yo can score outside seats do it!
Great place all around.

This place is about as hole in the wall as it gets. You basically sit down anywhere or order some beer from the bar (about 10 German beers on tap) and then someone comes by and takes your order. This place is super casual. The crowd is pretty varied and most of the patrons seemed very chill and cool, everyone is just having a good time and chilling. The food here is honestly not that great (I can only speak to the Bratwurst and Chicken Apple Sausage). The brat was completely flavorless and the mustard and kraut were crucial to adding any flavor to that dish. The chicken apple sausage had some more flavor but still seemed very uninspired. The beer selection really shined here. I was able to try a number of beers either in a liter or half liter. The appetizers (pretzels with cheese and meat) looked really good and I'll try those next time I come here.

Overall come here for the beer, apps and cool atmosphere; You'll really enjoy it!

We came for a beer and some pretzels and sausage and the outdoor space was great! The stout is delicious. Everyone was so nice... even when we accidentally unplugged their POS machine for the patio... I definitely recommend giving this place a try! They seem to be dog friendly, too!

A must go if you're a beer fan of German or general styles (two separate lists). Great German food, friendly atmosphere although things can get tight on a Thursday - Saturday. Also has a cool market up front if you need beer or German food stuffs to go.

How could I not save my 200th review for the coolest beer garden in Northern California. Gourmet Haus gave me faith that I actually could like beer. I was introduced to this place last year by some friends who were diehard regulars.

They have both indoor and outdoor seating, and I'm a huge fan of the outdoor experience since it feels like a community gathering of people who are just looking to have fun and unwind. I always come in here with the mindset that I want to try something completely new, so I've tried quite the range of beers.

All of the hefeweizens are delicious, so if you aren't a huge fan of beer, I recommend starting with those. Just be prepared since the glasses are huge and each drink feels like a meal.

They also have delicious german food including their amazing large pretzel covered with meat and cheese. Beer food perfection.

If you haven't visited this place, you are definitely missing out!
