I am German and usually avoid places like this as they can be very disappointing. Therefore, I was surprised to get some decent Bavarian (not German) food here.

We only have been to the beer garden and we got in shortly before they closed the kitchen (be aware they close the kitchen very early I think it was around 20:00), but the staff was super nice and ensured we still get some food.

Be aware that the noise level insight can be rather high and it is hard to have a conversation, but that could be described typical as well ;o).

And I will definitely be back to find out what they have in the shop, which unfortunately is closed in the evening.

The only thing I really would suggest is somebody to update their website. It is horrible how many spelling mistakes they made in their product / brand list (that way they never can be found easily) and the page looks very outdated.

It feels bad giving the bier garten 3 stars. I've been going here for years and enjoy it every time. But I just got back from Oktoberfest here, and goodness, it was disappointing. 10 bucks to get in, and beer was a little discounted once in. But food was a rip off. $10 for an alright sausage. And then late, $9 for a cold and bland pretzel.

Any other time, it's a solid 4-star joint. No TVs and chill music with a nice beer selection in a great setting. But I really was disappointed by their bigfest event. Come with good people on any other night, but I don't recommend Oktoberfest here.

Excellent beer selection, weinerschneitzel and spatzel!
Everything that went by looked good--
Next time we're going to try the potato pancakes and currywurst!
Outdoor seating was festive and the staff were efficient but outgoing and did not hurry us. This was a real find!
And they have a store area with a wide variety of imported foods and beers. Check it out.

Great German beer selection, incredible Bavarian pretzels, and plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Enter from the parking lot behind the building, enjoy great wait staff and their service, and have a fun time with friends. I really like this place-- will go back.

Fun place, pleasant servers, great beer. The food, especially the pretzels, is excellent as well. Can get super busy around happy hour. Pro tip: plan to use the restroom when you're at a 6/10 instead of waiting til 8/10. The bathroom line can build suddenly.

Excellent selection of authentic German beer and cider. Not as much selection with regards to food, but the food is still tasty. Attached to an interesting store open during the day, and at night the beer garden reigns. A bustling atmosphere with outdoor seating and plenty of good times to be had! If you're coming to the beer garden after the front store has closed, make sure to come in the back door that faces the parking lot.

Where to begin? I've been visiting GHS regularly for the past 3 years and it's always been pure pleasure. From their super authentic German food stuffs in the store and food/beer out in the back I've never once had a bad experience here. Unbelievably nice and helpful staff and always looking to make sure you get exactly what you are looking for! The brats are phenomenal and I highly recommend the bockwurst (my go-to). The beer selection is always changing and is super high quality. Plus, you can find some super rare beers from across the globe here! Although I am moving across the country, whenever I am back in town I will make sure to come back!

Thank you GHS!

(PS make sure you attend Oktoberfest, it is an awesome time!)

I wish I could complement the beer and food more. Very excellent. However, I was on call for work and the restaurant is a cell phone reception black hole and it has no Wi-Fi so I had the very unpleasant experience of having to completely leave the building just to get online for a few minutes. They seem to like having no cell service, they think it promotes talking. That's cute and quaint but I really need cell service and the building is like a faraday cage. Get some Wi-Fi please this was killing me

Without a doubt, this is my favorite German pub in the Bay Area. The staff are always friendly, the beer selection is amazing and their food is great! Plus they have an amazing German market in the front.

German Beer!

German Beer!

If you want a good selection of German beer look no further. They have 10+ German beers on tap that constantly rotate. Starting in September they have Octoberfest beers available. The beers are quality not just run of the mill junk.

The food is pretty good as well (not the best) but decent. It is a bit pricey but when combined with beers it definitely satisfies any hunger. I'm big on there sausages (except for the currywurst, not my favorite), also their pretzel and shredded fried potato (like a hash brown but crispier) with apple sauce are nice large starters good for multiple people.

The store is awesome too! If you need German food goods this is probably your best bet. You'll have to check it out as there are too many things to list.

One of my favorite spots in Redwood City. The bar is located behind a German crafts shop, and that strange atmosphere helps the bar to stand out.

Most tables seat 10-12 people so it is easy to meet new people while you all enjoy drinks.

Plenty of craft brews on tap and the servers are knowledgeable/helpful in choosing a pint.

I came to have a nice time with my two friends from a while back and the atmosphere was great and the beer selection was good. I enjoyed my time there.

What I didn't enjoy was the process and result of a transaction I thought was simple. Remember to save your receipts, because I had purchased a beer for $6.50 and was charged $26.50 a few days later.

I tried calling 5 different times, and each time being told I would be called back to fix the error, but all three of the bosses never took the time to help.

Without a receipt for a seemingly small purchase, I was stuck with the charge and haven't been too keen on returning. Hopefully your experience is better, just beware the lack of care from the bosses on any issue!

We love this place for gathering friends, co workers, or just to stop by on your own for incredible comfort food. Their smokies/sausages are great, beer is incredible. That being said: their ciders are AMAZING. Outdoor seating, large table seating (good for groups too. If you are stopping by with 1-2 folks just know you may end up sitting at the same table w strangers. I kind of like this aspect though!)
