Fun and friendly German style biergarten and German grocery store. Biergarten was full of the whole gamut from young families, millenials, adults to older folk, just like it should be!

If you love beer you should be here, period !

If you want to spend your weekday after work with fellow beer lovers and have fun laugh.
Not surprised when i saw scores of regulars sitting and gulping down their fav beers.
Its lighted well and the focus here is not selling you food but quality beer.
Literally if you are looking for a specific beer available in California you will find it here !

On my hotlist !

Awesome place! They have a wide variety of beers and ciders, and the prices are fair. The food is also excellent, especially the soft pretzels, which are huge and great for sharing. It is a good place for large groups and there is outdoor seating. There is also a store attached, I guess to buy beer snacks and alcohol. I haven't really looked around it, but it looks well stocked.

Yum!

I love coming here! I haven't had a beer here that I didn't like. The food is also very satisfying - giant pretzels, many different sausages, etc.. I highly recommend checking this place out!

Great place to shop for German grocery items. From mustards to meats to chocolates, they have it all! Also, an amazing craft beer selection! Lots of stuff to choose from and always bringing in new beers. The bar in the back has great lists for American craft beer, German beer, cider, and bottles. The food from the kitchen, although not available on Mondays, is killer! The schnitzle sandwich is normal for me. I also love the large pretzel. Do yourself a favor and get it with the meat and cheese on top! All around awesome spot!

Well it's German food and German alcohol. Really no alternatives. Don't go here if you think they might offer something else so that your friends and family can enjoy German food while you eat something else.

This review is only for their store and not the cafe/bar. Upon my return from a Europe trip, I was still craving the little snacks and chocolates that I brought back to share with my friends and family. I was so happy I stumbled into this place. This is the only place where I know I can buy my Ferrero, Kinder, Lindt and Duplo chocolates. Although a tad pricey because the items are imported, it's well worth it. I really miss those European chocolates!

On a side note, this small German store/bar is in the heart of downtown Redwood City and is more known as the place where the demo iPhone 4 was found months before it was available to the public.

Probably the best place to drink in Redwood City. Awesome selection at both bars (one primarily CA style beers, the other all German style). Seating can be limited just because the place is properly popular, but consider it an opportunity to meet some new beer friends at a shared table. And if you have to stand for a bit, you'll survive!

I went there with my dad on a little daddy-daughter date and it was such a nice experience. Had to write about it. We got the flatbread and potato pancakes--really good. The ambience was so pleasant and they were playing such good music too lol

My friends and I originally discovered this place when we achieved drinking age because we wanted something out of the ordinary with character, and boy did we find it at Gourmet Haus Straudt. We're now on hugging, first-name bases with the employees and have been patrons for years. The beer is authentic and the food is delectable. Don't steal a boot.

One of my favorite beer joints. They have two sets of taps; on the main wall are the German taps with a wide variety of beers from Germany, and just around the corner of the bar are the local craft beer taps. They even have a rotating cider tap! Add to this great food and fun friendly staff, and you have a must-visit place for the beer love in Redwood City.

If you love beer, this is the place to be. I don't like hops & IPA's and most every beer place in NorCal caters to those who want bitter beer that you have to "work your way up to" to enjoy. Gourmet Haus Staudt flips that paradigm on its head, with at lease a dozen delicious German beers on tap which you can easily drink several full glasses of and have a good time. The prices are reasonable, the service is excellent, and you will (if you like malty beers like me) find your new favorite beer every time you go. The bill always comes out lower than I expect, and they are happy to let you sample any of their beers before you buy a glass. My only advice? Not a good place for a quick meet up. Expect to say several hours, and have your Uber or Lyft app ready when you want to leave.

Awesome European (German) beer selection, great atmosphere that is jammed with regulars. The food is filling - get the fries, they're delicious. The bar can get hectic and crowded because of the long pours (1L of Beer takes a while) so I advise patience!

The hidden gem of Redwood City!

The hidden gem of Redwood City!

Don't let the hours on Google fool you. Just because the store front is closed doesn't mean the beer haus out back is!

Try the black laggers they have and don't miss on ordering one of their jumbo pretzels.
