In Mountain View, Calif., just a few miles south of the San Francisco Bay, there's a complex of buildings that serves as the headquarters for one of the most powerful companies in the technology industry. It's the home of Google, the Internet search engine giant. By some accounts, the Google campus is what you'd get if you combined a typical high-tech Internet company's headquarters with an intellectual think tank and a heaping helping of Willy Wonka's chocolate factory.

Google calls its campus the Googleplex, which combines the words Google and complex. It's also a play on the world googolplex. A googolplex is an enormous number, but let's start smaller with just a googol. A googol is 10100 -- a one followed by 100 zeroes. But a googolplex is 10 to the power of googol. So 10googol is a 1 followed by a googol of zeroes.



An architect named Clive Wilkinson of Clive Wilkinson Architects designed the workspaces in the Googleplex. Wilkinson's designs are famous for being inventive and whimsical. At the Googleplex, Wilkinson concentrated on creating buildings that fostered teamwork and creativity.

As of 2008, Google employs more than 19,000 people [source: Google Finance]. Google has offices in several countries, so not all of those employees get to take advantage of the Googleplex -- only 8,000 or so work out of Mountain View. The campus now has more than 2 million square feet of office space. The acquisition of a 42-acre campus adjacent to the Googleplex will add another 1 million square feet soon [source: Helft].

While the Googleplex doesn't actually have rivers of chocolate or gangs of Oompa Loompas wandering the campus, it does feature many amenities and perks that can entice potential employees to apply for a job. Feeling hungry? Pop into a cafeteria for a free meal. Need to work off all that complimentary snack food that's within arm's reach? Head over to the gym and hit the treadmill for half an hour. You can find it all at the Googleplex -- there's no need to leave the campus.

Possibly the nicest place on earth for tech-savvy people:) But other than the Google HQ, look around and you know why it's named Mountain View.

Terrible customer service. Great search results but buying/using products from google is a bad idea Especially if you need help.

I tried contacting customer support via the website and telephone, no response. I called 7 times in 2 weeks, I waited tops 1hr:45min and a minimum of 50 mins for someone to answer, nothing.

Ok, Google! Thank you for hosting us. Amazing Experience! I was very surprised of how accessible this campus is. I enjoyed seeing the employees riding the google bikes and playing in the open areas. They even have a pool for workers. Very nice environment to work in. Must visit if you are in San Francisco.

Recently my mom and I visited Google headquarters. They have a gift shop and a place to take photos but we accidentally got lost and had to ask directions in building 41. The employee was so kind, I wish I remembered his name.
He gave us instructions and even let us know if we needed a restroom we could come back. He went above and beyond what we anticipated.

Google is a place where you can visit a little in Silicon Valley. I was able to see the inside with the invitation of the staff, but it is a pity that I did not see much because it was a town hall meeting.

Google Maps Reviews allows slander and abuse of small businesses from people who aren't even customers?!! There's is no customer service and if you lucky enough to speak to a call centre they promise one thing then do nothing. Disgusting !

I have been trying to manage my Business page since November. (4 months) . I would like to be able to respond to reviews. No one will help me. Somebody with the email bl.......@gmail has control of our page. No idea who this is. I have ran our business for the last 11 years and it is not me. They say there is nothing they can do. So I asked, "Can I just claim any business that is unclaimed and start responding to reviews" They said Yes, thats how it works. I can't belive thats how it works. I am pretty sure this review won't get me any response either. We shall see....

I could not be happier with the level of service and treatment at Galvez Dental. The entire staff is friendly, helpful and efficient. But of course the most important thing when visiting a dentist is the quality of the actual dental work received - which I have to say is outstanding here. I was very impressed with being able to get a new crown in just one visit, thanks to the modern equipment they have. No need for molds and temporary crowns! My new crown freshly minted from the machine (precisely measured to within one micron accuracy) plopped right in my mouth with nary a problem and looks great too! I also required a deep cleaning to address some gum disease resulting from neglect and bad dental habits on my part and Quynh, the dental hygienist did a superb job. She was super nice and very gentle what with me being one of those unlucky few who have hyper sensitive teeth. Now my teeth look and feel a whole lot better thanks to everyone at Galvez Dental.

Google business reviews is a totally flawed system that does nothing but destroys business reputation with false fictitious customers that haven't even been near your business. Also writing a review years later and it is their one and only review. Why would you do that other than try to destroy a business reputation by anonymity.
As a business owner that strives to do the right thing and look after customers nothing is more disheartening than having no recourse or the option to opt out of Google reviews. Google should be taken to the cleaners for their abuse of power. Not fair google!!

Fortunate to be able to visit google, this is really an eye-opener, very different from the company in Taiwan. It's not like Sons here, it's like school campus

It is wonderful to know this company, to visit its wide spaces, to know its famous slide and its organizational culture.

Amazing place to walk around. Google bikes are for employees only - can try using them on weekend when campus is empty.

Impossible to voice your concern or email them. I am VERY UNHAPPY WITH THE NEW VERSION OF GMAIL. It is SLOW and takes forever to load. So inconvenient.. don't understand why Google had to change it, was perfectly fine before.

Take a look at its visitor center, buy some souvenirs, and experience the environment of Google.
The company does not open to visit inside.
Some people are not very enthusiastic to receive questions from tourists, suggest to improve it.

Deleted 150+ reviews because of google filters. Post a review that does not match the google view of the world or their political agenda and Google removes it. They protect left establishments that make news (red hen) by removing the ability to comment while leaving right bussiness open under the same circumstancesl

I visited the campus during a visit to Silicon Valley. Unfortunately, without an appointment and without knowing anyone inside it is possible to see very little. For nerds and technology enthusiasts it is certainly an interesting visit. The campus is divided into several buildings. It's nice to walk under the Googleplex (1600 Amphiteatre Parkway) and see, even if only from the outside, the employees do sports, take outdoor coffee and move on colorful bicycles. Recently a souvenir shop has been opened, all with the Google logo, from t-shirts to cups, from jackets to some technological gadgets. Outside the shop the gallery of Android statues and, on display, a Street View car
