Sat down to play blackjack. The dealers were wonderful, plus they had an amazing table that payed out on blackjacks! I've never played on anything like it. We also enjoyed the circular bar lounge in between tables, and the bartenders made a beautiful martini for myself and my family. Probably one of my favorite casino's in Las Vegas!

Some of our group wanted to visit this iconic casino whilst we were visiting Freemont Street. We went on the blackjack table as this is usually quite fun. We all came out with a gain, so that was good! Croupier was a bit grumpy, but that was probably because there was a man, who I assume was supposed to be keeping them safe from over exuberant gamblers and overseeing the tables in general, was a bit of a sleeze and kept eyeing up their behinds in their short-skirted uniforms, which would make me uncomfortable too. (As an aside, why are they still making women wear these tacky uniforms? It's 2019!). Second croupier was a bit more friendly. No drink orders were taken in the hour or so we were sat at the table, where as in other casinos we had drinks pretty quickly.
Golden nugget is awesome. Right in the heart of downtown. Not easy to locate the nugget in the hotel. Ask for directions from the hotel staff to reach the showcase displaying the nugget. Worth seeing.
I stayed there 12 years ago, Apr 2006 - this hotel is so cool. I was looking at the piano was playing in the hotel, only 10 min later that i realised that it was a robot not someone actually playing ... duh ... i am blind!!! Room was great ... love it ... but not on The Strip. I was lucky that my Sis has a sister lives in Las Vegas that she picked us up from here to play at The Strip.
The rooms and the pool were more than worth the price. Special shout out to Gilbert at the front desk of the hotel lobby. He made us feel welcome and made checking in and out easy and painless. THANK YOU!!
I had a lot of fun here the place looks so ritzy the pools was so cool with all of the fish swimming around the waterslide. Staff were very helpful, sometimes too much. Everyone wants you to buy some sort of "share or stock" in something they will talk your ear off if you don't get out of there. The rooms were great black out curtains well needed haha. The casino busy the whole time. Stay hydrated, but a lot of the bartenders will not give you a glass of water.... so I just kept asking around... I was buying drinks.... so I should be able to get a water to rehydrate... all in all good place cheap rates. Just remember to watch for hidden fees. I dint find anything to much from this place.
I have been to their bar upstairs Troy several times we spent good money had a great time and the staff was very kind to me especially the bartender with the tattoos on his arms we started to get to know each other pretty well to the point where he recognized me when I come in but the other night when I went up there I wasn't allowed in because of their discriminatory door policy that says no neck tattoos I have a lucky dragon tattoo on the side of my neck that's approximately 2 in tall but I got when I was 16 years old it barely sticks above my coller line I was told I was not allowed to enter even if I went and changed my shirt to cover it up after I was shown a sign that said no exposed neck neck tattoos when I questioned them about why I couldn't just go get a different shirt on so that the tattoo wouldn't be exposed anymore a bunch of security walked up like I was some kind of threat or something when I was simply just asking a question I'll never go back to that s*** hole again when I went home that night I was telling my black taxi driver about how they treated me and it really got me to thinking about how discrimination can be such a horrible thing all the way around he agreed with me I guess they did give me kind of a favor a different perspective on things so for that I owe them one do yourself a favor spend your money at a place who actually cares about their customers not whether or not they have a tattoo on their skin for god sakes besides our drinks are overpriced and there's nowhere to set if you want to sit down you have to pay for bottle service and trust me it's super expensive.
The place is SO HUGE and really hard to get around. The pool was closed during the winter which is really really disappointing. The service is good and the people at the concierge are nice. Each level in the hotel looks like same and it gets confusing to walk around, and they don't really provide a detailed map. They really overdone the Christmas decorations and created a messy atmosphere. Would rate it 3.5
The Golden Nugget is located in the heart of down town in the Fremont St pedestrian mall. It has a lovely old Vegas charm and appeal. The gaming floor has a wide variety of slots and table games.
The room was nice, had a problem with the bathroom door it had an awful squeaky noise, engineers came up we were there and he fixed it so we thought about 15 min later it was squeaking again . The Cadillac grill was great until the waitress was like pushing us out. I was in town for a funeral and meet up with a former coworker so we had drinks and ordered food, the waitress came back every 5 mins to see if we paid the bill and when we put money and credit card in the thing she decided how we were paying without asking. She took all my money and put remainder on my friends card. I wish they would of told us there was a time limit to sit and talk after spending money.
Was surprisingly busy the weekend after New Years which gives good ambiance. The restaurants are all pretty good, the room was clean and quiet, although quite outdated.. All in all, a good time.
We ate at Gotta at the Golden Nugget Hotel. It is an Italian Restaurant. The food was amazing. We went for lunch and ordered from the lunch menu. The price was very reasonable around 42 dollars not including the tip. The waiter was very good and attentive. It was a very pleasant experience.
Downtown casinos they are not as large as the strip but they are priced so much better. Getting into their clubs is so much nicer too as they dont pretend to be something they arent. As for gambling the staff are just as good but the odds seem better. Just know you are in a slightly older building which is not as open feeling.
Not sure if it's the stress but the staff here have been pretty rude all around. Also as of 8/2020 there are no smoking rooms even if you prebooked, so forget enjoying your cigar with that bourbon. Aside from that, beds are super comfy - bathrooms are fine - rooms could be a little cleaner because there's some smears on the wall and previous guest's trash still on the floor. If you can get booked for cheap then it's fine, but I wouldn't go out of my way to stay here.
I love this place. It's an older hotel but they've renovated it. You can get a top-tier suite for $200 a night which is pennies compared to the new strip. I really liked the Tony Montana suite with its brass and glossy black accents all over. Since it's on Freemont you can walk outside directly into the action and go to another casino without crossing over a mile of elevated walkways.
The Golden Nugget is my favorite place to be downtown. I stayed here and I even booked an extra day because I enjoyed my stay so much. The pool is very cool and you have to ride the slide through the shark tank, no matter your age. The room was clean and very modern. The casino opens up to Fremont Street. I like staying downtown because it isn't nearly as crowded as the Strip. It is much less expensive during the week, which is why I stay there Monday-Thursday. Parking is free to hotel guests.
As with all casinos downtown or what I call Freakmont, They have took out some older and better paying machines and replaced them with video games. We spent 5 days in Las Vegas and between us we went thru 3,000.00 We have a ton of fun and this was money to ear or burn. Now, after visiting every casino downtown I can see that they have tightened up as compared to the strip. The strip machines are actually paying 2 to 3.5 % higher than downtown. Supply and demand. we rented a car and went off strip to several local casinos and did way better there. No more Downtown for us
So we finally wandered up to Fremont Street last time in Vegas and I was incredibly surprised at how nice The Golden Nugget appeared while we ate lunch and gambled there that afternoon. I did NOT stay here or see the rooms so don't take my opinion of that aspect but what I did see impressed the heck out my wife and I and we both agreed that given the disparity in prices between the GN and the mega resorts on the strip that we would love to stay at the GN next time we go. It's clearly been remodeled fairly recently in the lobby and restaurateur areas and was very modern. The place was jumping busy for a fall Sunday afternoon, too. We will most likely make this the next place we try in Vegas!
Didnt stay here, visited during our Fremont experience night. Cool hotel. Local told me it's the orginal home of poker and also the hotel has a pool on the roof. If we were required to stay in the location would probably choose this hotel
Great spot in the old downtown. This place is right on the Freemont street experiance. And is a great place to stay..Not the same as the strip but really fun. Plenty of food, drink and other options riggt out Hotel/Casino on Freemont. We had a blast here over a long weekend. Corner Suite was large and affordable. The Grille had great all hour selection of pizza and sandwiches to keep us fueled. Plenty of stores also right out the door for beer, liquor, and small groceries.
We played a few slots while waiting for the Freemont Experience to start. The Golden Nugget Las Vegas Hotel & Casino is one of the older standing hotels in Vegas. It is showing its age a bit and can get smokey at times. The older crowd comes for the games but the amenities draw the younger generation.
We had a good stay. Pool is fun. Vallet was rude but management listened. Then another day Vallet was quite helpful. Room large but dark in Rush tower. Rooms in Carson are brighter. Casino is well a casino. Up market steak house pretty good but pricey. Freemont Street outside very sexualised not child friendly. Elevator security in Rush Tower is a bit annoying. Don't lose your room key. Overall quite good. 4 stars from me.
1st. Time in Vegas, had an excellent time. Location was very good downtown. The resort fees were somewhat expensive for the poor weather we had. Would return to the Golden Nugget.
In the middle of all the amazing entertainment. The perfect destination spot for anything you would ever want to see and do while you are staying in Vegas.
Great hotel and pool. I definitely would come again! The family pool isn t to big and looses sun fast but I m tan so I enjoy the shade! It s located right on Fremont st. So there is plenty to do and plenty of shopping near by!
I had bleeding sinuses from all the smoke in this casino. You have to move every 15 minutes at the pool to try and catch the sun when it goes behind all the buildings(even when you go to the top pool and pay for a lounge chair). The room was nice and clean but the shower had no pressure whatsoever! This was my first trip to Las Vegas. I had no problem with the smoke at other casinos. Everything in Las Vegas was fabulous except my stay at Golden Nugget from October 18-25.
Two of us qpproch the bar, only one of us got credited for our drinks. We both put in 20 dollars. The bartender continues to charge a full drink for my partner. Although he continues to play on the same machine. What's up with that!!!
No queen rooms, extreme resort fees and smoking fees. Our Comp rooms were more for 3 nights than paying for the same 3 nights in any other Fremont Street hotel.
This an upper tier hotel and casino resort; probably one of the best on Fremont Street. I don t consider it in the same class as the big-name complexes on the Vegas strip, but it s decent.
Rooms are nice, though unpretentious (I stayed in the Rush Tower). Ear plugs are provided if the music from Fremont Street keeps you up (I wasn t bothered by it, despite facing that street).
Air in the casino is kept relatively free of cigarette smoke smell (on par with the better casinos). The ambiance is definitely of a classy establishment.
In my opinion the only place you should stay on Fremont street. I would also highly recommend the gold tower, I have now stayed in both towers and they are both good clean and acceptable rooms the gold tower is just more of the "wow this is a beautiful room with a great view" factor.
A good hotel for the price. Clean rooms. The pet deposit is rather large. One complaint i have is on the valet parking. When I returned the rental car, they pointed out a huge gouging in the paint, about three inches long, deeper than the surface paint, down to the primer.
I know I didn't do this.
Thankfully I always buy the most expensive insurance. I was covered and didn't lose my deposit.
Very crammed. Seems like every inch of freespace in this place only exists because of firecode... But that lends its self to the electricity in the air. The staff are quite friendly, attentive, and helpful.
This is in downtown vegas, and it takes a while to get here. The place is definitely not as glamourous as the strip, but the tables are cheap ($1 blackjack) and there is a zipline which is entertaining.
Its a nice hotel, the room we stay in was nice aswell. but we stayed there for our wedding weekend and didnt get anything special for staying with them for our wedding weekend didnt even get a Congrats by any of the staff. the front desk ladies were very very rude. we both work in the hotel industry and were not happy with the service. will be staying elsewhere when we come back .
I was pleasantly surprised during my stay at the GN. The room was amazing, the food was fantastic, the staff was super friendly. Everything wad perfect!
The hotel is clean and recently updated. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay there and the Fremont experience is a must do while in Vegas. The pool is amazing and I can't complain about the food either. customer service with the bellhops and valet was very poor and the only real hiccup in the entire trip.
My first time here I was 18, back at age 50 and I must say, the Vegas atmosphere here is everything u want Vegas to be... sophisticated, glamorous, energetic and they treat u like royalty!!! Unlike some of the places on the strip , where we felt invisible .... love the Nugget and plan on staying there next time :)
It was a pleasant place to stay, a nice pool, close to Fremont, but everything was ridiculously expensive. Employees were pleasant, knowledgeable, and helpful.
Stayed at the Golden Nugget June 27- July 1, 2018. We had a great time. The pool was great thought it closed a little early though. The adult pool didn t have anywhere to sit unless you paid. The food and drinks were excellent. Would stay there again!
Great time at the Buffet for dinner. The staff were very courteous and provided amazing service. The pool is amazing as well! Fantastic slide and it was so much fun. The Hurricane that I got at the bar was also very delicious. Amazing time here!
