The hotel rocks. Rooms are a reasonable size and in a good state of repair. Staff are generally happy to help and the facilities are top notch. There are a couple of negatives that did mark the occasion down a bit though - Valet service was awful with a rude employee telling us to get out quickly then nearly driving off with our luggage still in. There is a strong smell of stale smoke on the casino floor. However, I stand by the hotel being awesome. Important thing to note - this is brilliantly located on Freemont Street in heart of old Vegas. This gives it added character and energy. DO NOT think that this hotel is on the strip like a guest checking out at the same time as us did.

I was disappointed, I spent more money to stay in a better room and the room seem dated. There was no sofa, and the small table wasn't big enough to work on. I felt like I wasted my money on a room

Staff was rude and didn't care. When I had an issue with the room and brought it to the attention of the night shift desk manager she did not care. Hotel is old, DON'T STAY HERE, THEY DON'T VALUE THEIR GUESTS. Will not stay here ever again!

As far as first impressions I like it so far. The Golden Nugget is comprised of four individual and distinct towers, The Carson, The Gold Tower, The Rush Tower and The Spa Tower. There s valet parking and the entrances are modern and classy. Check in was easy and reception was friendly and welcoming. The room is clean and has a modern Art Deco look. The bathroom is spacious and well lit. I love the vanity mirror lol. The closets have mirrored doors and the robes are a nice surprise. I love the L shaped sofa in the seating area. The room has a lot of light which is needed because our window faces a wall, which is the only thing I don t like about the room besides that it doesn t have a mini fridge and that we re right next to the ice room. So every morning during our stay we were woken up by the sound of ice buckets being filled by guests or hotel staff. The pool is awesome, there s a shark tank built into the middle of it with a slide that runs from the top of the cabanas to the pool below. The pool side bars and adjacent black jack tables keep the fun going. There are an assortment of restaurants and cuisines to choose from in addition to a buffet on the second floor of the Spa Tower.

1st off, don't book through a travel agency, as you get a slightly better rate, but their site advertises that there's no additional charge for pool usage if booking June-August. I booked through a travel sight and for the room plus the pool that I didn't use. So I was charged an additional $108.48 (we cleaned up the room mostly ourselves prior to leaving), and if that was for the 2 bottles of water provided per a night stay, we wouldn't have got them.

Last full day while there, my gf went to take a shower and there was absolutely no hot water. I called the front desk and they offered a $20 or $25 comp for anything with the room (not off the price of the room). They also said that it would be resolved within 15 to 20 minutes. 30 minutes later, nothing.

Every day there, I'd come back to the room and it would have a message flashing. Check the messages, it's their own automated system trying to get you to stay an extra night for a better price.

They have penny machines by the elevator in the section of the hotel by the gift shop I was staying at. Those machines, I would like to have played more, but they don't have anyone there monitoring them telling people that if they aren't playing the machines to please not sit at them (quite often groups were crowded there just sitting and not playing while waiting for their bus, uber, lyft, etc..).

The very few positives of the stay - The room had a little stand for the gf to makeup at. Staff was nice, but not extremely informative. It's also right on Fremont St for that experience, but so is other hotels.

It is the nicest hotel on Fremont street. Rooms are remodeled and the old stuff they kept was refinished. The lamp on the nightstand have 2 sockets each which is so nice for chargers. Other hotels on Fremont have just a plug for the lamp and alarm clock and you have to charge your fine on the other side of the room.

I give it 4 stars because unlike the other hotels they don't offer a coupon book which is helpful to decide where to go and for the size of the hotel and casino compared to the rest it feels like they need to work on welcoming their guest with some discounts.

We've been to several hotels on Fremont and they offer the discount which we find super helpful. Some of the restaurants we would not go we are now going back because we decided to use the discount and found some of the places are great. This helps out a lot to decide where to go.

Because they were out of the regular Suites we were bumped up to this amazing two-story hotel suite nicest room I've ever had. I couldn't believe it was mine, I kept walking around saying hello excuse me because I thought it was in the wrong room

Called and told them I would come in early in the morning next day after my reservation. I was promised that my room would be reserved and ready for me in the morning... Nope, that wasn't the fact, when I got there I had to wait to get the room I already paid for. Ahh well, I'll plan better next time so I don't get in this situation again, anyway the stay was absolutely fine. Good hotel.

My favorite hotel in old Las Vegas. Beautiful Entrance *on Valet Parking Side*!!! It has a classic timeless aura about it. Reminds me of the 80-90's Mob Gangter movies. Definitely can hold its own with class and style.

The best kept secret in Vegas. We stay at the Gold Tower and need a key to elevator to get to our floor. Worth the upgrade. Free coffee, water, fruit, snacks by elevator. Free gym and spa ($25 per person). Rooms right above great casino. Free parking. Shark tank pool rated one of best in Vegas. TV built-in bathroom mirror. Awesome buffet and many restaurants. Great casino. Friendly staff. First class service and amenities. You never need to leave the hotel!

Best buffet we had during our time in Vegas! The buffet was better than Aria and TI which both cost more. Also, the drinks we had were really good and I believe the cheapest we found. The down side is the noise in the rooms. We started off in a Rush tower room facing Fremont Street and the noise in the room from the music outside was unreal. We asked to me moved, and after about an hour we got a different room in the gold tower. It was better but still not quiet. Well go back to eat, play, and drink for sure, just probably not to sleep.

What a fabulous place to have a special dinner without breaking the bank. My daughter ordered the butterfly effect drink, I definitely recommend just for the show alone.

Nicely remodeled more upscale and modern. The pool was closed, but looked like it had a huge slide. I'd stay there for sure and hang out in the Fremont area for a weekend

I recently had a relaxing massage at the Golden Nugget spa. Very nice, calm atmosphere inside the spa (which is isolated in one of the towers) with access to a sauna, steam room, and whirlpool. The cost was a bit more than I'd normally pay for a massage but I figured while on vacation it would be worthwhile to indulge a bit, and I did enjoy it. At the end of the service, I went to settle up and had the expected cost on a bill but was also informed I had to pay an additional gratuity at a fixed rate, though I had the option to add more. I do have a little bit of a problem with being forced into then giving a 20% gratuity on an already marked-up cost, and it was written into my bill at the end of the service without any prior indication thereof. I've doubled-checked my booking and had no indication when I showed up for my appointment. My service was great (and on a pure tipping for good service basis have no issue with the amount paid) but I should be allowed to tip according to my experience, or at least be informed in advance that this cost will be included.

We went in just for dinner at the Claim Jumpers inside the resort. The entire casino floor seemed clean with friendly staff. The dining experience at Claim Jumpers was also top notch! Our waiter was very nice and accommodating, especially considering it was almost midnight when we ate there. Fabulous food, too!

We stayed in the Gold Tower, the room was clean, beautiful, spacious, and comfortable. The beds were comfortable, and the room was quiet as well. Overall, the stay was pleasant and I would recommend them!

Booked two months in advance through Priceline. Called hotel to request a non smoking room, which they confirmed would be available. When I checked in I was told you requested a smoking room right? No. My son has asthma. I booked a non smoking room. Well you booked through third party so you get what you get. We don t have anything else This room is so bad my son had to use his inhaler within 10 minutes of being here, all of our stuff smells like smoke, and they said that sucks. Go somewhere else.
So I called directly through their website and what do you know, they were able to book us a non smoking room for $80. Which I didn t book. We re checking out early and going elsewhere. But what a bunch of nonsense.
Printed material in the hotel room was sticky. Water glasses were dirty. Air condinitoning never got all that cool.
They also charged me $12 to hold a package (information told me, before I sent it, that this would not be the case)
Pool is tiny and has limited hours. The Grotto is a delicious restaurant though, so there s that I guess?

Given a choice between staying Downtown or on the Strip, I'll take Downtown EVERY TIME. And there's really only one place to stay in Downtown Las Vegas and that's The Golden Nugget. Clean, comfortable, and quiet rooms are what makes for a great stay.

So I can't speak for this place apart from the pool. I spent one full day here to use their incredible swimming pools. Obviously swimming alongside a shark tank is the coolest thing ever and going down a tube slide that includes a clear passage through the aquarium is wild- but what I also appreciated was that they have a wide array of cabanas for rent - and the prices while expensive were cheap compared to other Cabana rentals in other hotels with less amazing pools! We rented a large tented Cabana on the third deck level which also has an adults only heated swimming pool.. it's not the shark tank pool but a calm warm peaceful pool for a relaxing dip in the water. Be sure to order a drink in the novelty shark beverage container! There's also a large ish hottub on the first level. We rode the slide from deck 3 down to deck 1 and popped straight into the hottub. Great time there! The Cabana was excellent because hubster hates sun and I love it. So I could veg on huge ottoman away from shaded Cabana while he would stay under shaded Cabana with a fan and TV ..

Our room wasn't available when we checked in and we had booked months in advance. We were put in a smoking room the first night and still had to pay full price. The breakfast/brunch buffet food would have been better at a school cafeteria. Not the best place I've stayed but at least it's cheaper than the strip.

Pool is beautiful!!! Restuarants were great!! (Except Claim Jumper, was like diner food) the empire suite was spacious and looked great, but sooooo many things were broken and staff did not seem to care ( list of broken items, ice maker, direct tv, electrical outlets, tub leaked, living room curtaind wouldn't close)

Nice hotel, conveniently located on Fremont Street and near the bus station to the strip. Room was large and clean, although I wish it had a fridge. Casino was a decent size and not too smoky. Lost a star because we stayed here specifically for the shark slide, to high was closed for maintenance without warning anywhere.

Not impressed at all. Came for new year's 2018. We stayed 6 nights. I'm not knocking the casino smoke as that is a given. We stood in line for a very long time to check in. This after being texted "Mobile Checkin" a day prior which only asked what I purchased... They asked what bedroom configuration, smoking or non, time of arrival, so nothing they didn't aleady know and I still had to stand in line for 25 min top checkin. Then on checkin they mentioned we could pickup our new years eve Freemont Experience wrist bands the next day. I advised them, I called after making the online reservation and asked if they were included with our stay and was told no by their representative and that the representative told me to go to the Freemont Experience website to buy them seperate, which I did. So I ended up buying them before coming down and now spent an extra $85 for nothing. The checkin rep just acted confused and kept repeating you get them with your room. Absolutely no help! Even when we came back the day of to pick them up I explained to that person at the front desk and they acted the same way. Total waste of money and horrible communication with their customer. We got to our room which did have a smoke smell. I called and they came up and deoderized it while we were out. The room was ok. The TV is ild so it doesn't have an HDMI port. Multiple elevator light buttons didn't work. Buttons themselves did but just looks bad. Other things just as an fyi, floor vending machines are $3 for a soda or chips, no minifridges in room, walls seem thin as tou can hear others. As for the New Years eve Freemont Experience handling it was horrible from the access wristbands to that evening and how the access is handled. It's almost as if they never did it before..

Stayed here for 4 days last week. A great hotel, located in the smack middle of Fremont Street. The check-in staff was very friendly and we really enjoyed our stay. The room we got didn't have typical amenities that you may find in most rooms (coffee pot, microwave, fridge etc.) but honestly there's so much to see and do in Vegas that we barely stayed in the hotel room other than to sleep. We had the choice to stay in old downtown or the strip and I'm glad we chose old downtown and stayed here!

Decent spot right along Fremont St. Great place to gamble or grab drinks when Fremont gets too crowded. Definitely has that old vegas vibe still. Little difficult to get in and out of by vehicle but that is for the entire Fremont area in general.

Shower was broken , was told they'd fix it before we returned to the room later that evening... But when we returned the shower was still broken ,but they promptly moved us to a different, nicer room. Only giving a 4/5 because the walls are thin. We can hear everything in the hallway and in the nearby rooms.

To be fair, I'm going to update this as we go along. It has been pretty nice since this all happened. Everyone is very nice and the place is pretty clean. A lot of the trouble we ran into, is not going to be common for most.
5 1/2 hours after we were to check in, our rooms are still not ready for us. All we asked, was adjoining rooms. We called hours ago to confirm it would not be a problem. They said it wouldn't be. Still waiting...
I'm changing this to one star as when they finally had our rooms ready at 9pm, the second room did not have king bed they told us it would have.
So, now it is 2:00 in the morning. We just got back to our room after a false alarm made everyone exit the building. Too bad we were staying on the 11th floor and had to carry 2 of our kids down the stairs.
There are cigarette butts in the hallways and in the elevator.
The bed is pretty comfortable.
This has been a vacation from hell due to the ineptitude of this hotel.

Our room was clean the staff was okay. We were told check out was at 12:00, then on day of check out it was 10:00 which was difficult for someone with disabilities and the front desk would not accommodate. Elevator was stuck a few times, there were no maps of hotel, or area available.

Not for adults only. Nice place to take the family though. Prices for rooms are ridiculous for a weekday! We moved to a 5 star hotel for $30 on a Sunday night, compared to $120 here. No customer service here, for a long time customer. Won't stay here again.
