Hampstead Heath, though not exactly a secret, is well off the beaten path in London, and once you are inside, you can barely believe you're in the middle of a big city. The park itself is gorgeous and serene, and you can go for awhile without seeing anyone! Make sure to visit Parliament Hill for a breathtaking view of London. #Oktoberwurst

Beautiful and tranquil green area in London. Wide meadows and cool woods, this place is the antipole of busy London, and provide a great view over it too. Climb up to Parliamant hill to see the full London skyline.
Ideal for an afternoon out, for a walk/run/cycle/swim

One of London's best parks as well as being one of the biggest. Hampstead heath is a great park with many quite areas and high points to see great views of London. Hampstead has many nice cafes as well as some great out door swimming ponds that can get buddy in the hot summer days. I recommend Hampstead as a great day out that's not to far from the very centre of the city.

Swimming, picnicking, picturesque landscape views of Central London... escape city life for an afternoon and enjoy Hampstead Heath! The Heath is a must-see for Londoners and visitors alike, and while my family were visiting form out of town we popped up to Parliament Hill. They cursed me on the steep walk up, but were so happy for the gorgeous view at the top. Other times I've come to the Heath to swim (there's a lido! And men's/women's/mixed bathing ponds!) so if you can't get out of the city on those hot summer days, you can still swing by for a quick dip. Lastly, picnicking. Yes. Just do it. Relax in the grass by a river or under a tree. There's plenty of space and you can't hear the sirens from police cars or ambulances. I love Hampstead Heath.

One of the biggest park/forest of London if not the biggest. There are several lakes where you can even fishing or swimming. There's beautiful views from here to the city. Kenwood house is a must if you are in the area. Also good idea to visit the Golders hill park where is a little zoo and a nice cafe.

Can remember as a boy travelling to the heath early on a saturday morning to get to the pond and make sure i got the best possible spot to fish, my little fibre glass rod and small spinning reel, meeting other like minded young fellas and having a gudgeon fish off, biggest one caught the winner. That was 51 years ago, today i had to visit the Royal Free hospital and had parked on the hill down from jack straws end. I decided to climb a small grass hill up to take a look at the last pond, i had barely got to the top admiring the birdlife and some fish creating small vortexes out in the water thinking of years gone by, when BANG, Went my memories with this roar from down the hill, "OI MATE" you aint allowed up there its private, ya have to get out..A real shame how things have changed, no smiling happy kids anymore enjoying the heath for what its meant to be, a small bit of countryside brought into the urban areas....seems my old Dad was right when he said enjoy life when your young son as it don't get better.....memories.

A breath of fresh air, woods and nature in a chaotic city. Its where Londonders flock to chill and lose themselves in the belief they could almost be in the countryside. Have maps on Smartphone, surprisingly easy to get lost.

Wow! We just love the Heath. No matter the season, the weather or the day of the week, the Heath provides a tranquil retreat from the hustle and bustle that is London. I've had picnics and walks and can truly recommend both. Have a nice time in the Heath, I sure did.
