Best park in north London, spectacular views and charming trails.
Really the only green space in London I would rate 5 stars. It still retains a wild feeling to it and it's big enough to get lost in.
Lovely park, one of my favourite. Massive as well, you need a whole day to explore it.
Large park. You can walk, run, enjoy and relax, you can swim, walk your dog,..ect.
Nice place and park, mixed pond is very small and dirty! Don't bother
It s my favourite park in town. It s a huge green area almost in the center of the city with lots of options for enjoy: you can walk through the woods, or through the open area or even swing in the big lake! FOR FREE! You can get lost inside if you don t have GPS and you might walk - but certainly you would enjoy being lost inside that place! It s a very good one
Beautiful views. Lovely eateries plus fantastic music venue.
Love the heath, today there were snowdrops, crocuses, daffodils and hellebores, with buds on all the shrubs ready for a bit of warm weather. Can't wait for the azaleas and rhododendrons to flower, they were spectacular last year. The dairy was open at Kenwood for a look at the history of cream making complete with examples of what the milkmaids and cowmen wore. Great afternoon...even the sun came out!
Kenwood house is a amazing hidden gem, highly recommend for visiting
Magical place! I love the different sections and all the different spaces to do so many things with different people. Or just by yourself. Picnics. A quiet stroll through the meadows or the forest. Magnificent trees. Nice swimming ponds. Sports areas. Just a wonderful wonderful park.
A large and beautiful green space in the heart of North London, including a natural swimming pond and multiple sections
Piece of nature in the middle of London. Perfect place for family time
This park is unique in a sense of the heaths all seem to be unique. There is a lot of trails to keep you going and a few coffee stops in there as well..
Lucky to live on it. Most days walking my dog. Rangers incredibly nice.
Massive park for all kinds of things! It has swimming ponds, men, ladies and mixed. A lido. Running track, kids playground and paddling pool. Cafe and Kenwood house with cafe and lots of art. Fishing ponds, green area for toddlers. Can't beat it when the sun's shining, gets busy when it is though but it's so big you'd easily find a quite spot.
I go here regularly for a swim in the ladies pond. Such a tranquil special place I just absolutely love 3
Massive park so good for a long walk. Has a cafeteria close to Kenwood House (which is of interest itself)...
Nice place, quiet in places and the experience can be very enjoyable.
Amazing place with natural beauty. Don't try to drove there as the parking is very limited.
Beautiful park, especially when the sun is shining! If you go in the wintertime make sure to bring your wellies!
If you want to see the nature, Go to Hamstead Heath Forest and enjoy
The only downside that Kenwood house is closed as off yesterday but otherwise beautiful place for spending some time outdoors.
Lots of parkland, a mixture of cultivated and wild bits, plenty of trees. Lovely to walk here, easy to get lost! Joins Hampstead and Highgate villages and contains Kenwood House which has its own grounds and lake.
Don't come here. It's where I live and I want it all for myself.
When I'm in Hampstead Heath, it doesn't even feel like I'm in London. It is a veritable oasis in the heart of London (only 20 minutes to Central London)...it is simply amazing, whether you're having a picnic, swimming in the lido, or just enjoying the scenery, there is something for everyone.
Hampstead Heath is glorious but if you are new to it have access to a map. Some special views of London. Less obviously from the entrance to Kenwood House on its South side. The obvious stunner view is from Parliament Hill where kites often fly.
It is a huge and nice park. I really recommend it to walk- you really feel like being far away from the city.
Great place for all ages. Beautiful scenery all over the park. Good place for meeting people like friends or family.
Mahoosively vast 800acres of elevated breazy heathland and woodland with fantastical views across London. Including views from Parliament Hill to the South. It extends to Golders Hill Park to the West. Golders Green to the North West. Hampstead Garden Suburb to the North. Hampstead to the North East. Highgate to the East. And Gospel Oak to the South East.
It has playgrounds and children's paddling pool, an athletic track, Highgate Men's bathing pool and Kenwood Women's bathing pool. And Kenwood House.
Popular with dog walkers and families and anyone who wants to get some fresh air into their lungs. Lots of variety of landscape and wildlife to enjoy. Recommend to wear lots of sunscreen as can get really burnt without realising it as is usually farely breazy being high ground. Great for kite flying.
There's a prehistoric Barrow mound on Parliament Hill. Boudicca is said to have been buried there in 62 AD.
Up until the late 13th century it was infested with wolves.
During the reign of Henry 8th the gentry employed washerwomen of their services here.
In 1665 during the Great Plague the Courts of Law were transferred and established themselves here as a tented village.
By 1698 it became a fashionable attraction due to the discovery of medicinal fresh water springs.
By the 1700's The Upper Flask Tavern, a grand Jacobean house on Hampstead Hill sold flasks of the Spring waters from the Hampstead Spa. Which was populated by notable writers, poets and political Whig leading figures who created The Kit-Kat Club. (The Whigs were formerly The Roundheads and stood against absolute monarchy rule. They were the founding fathers of The Liberal Party).
Also during this time one of the 1st Optical Semaphore Telegraph Station Towers was erected at Jack Straw's Castle, the 1st of a string of them from Chelsea to Yarmouth, conveying messages over long distances.
During the Napoleonic Wars the Heath was used for riflemen to train and practice their skills for battle.
In 1871 the Heath was preserved for public use in perpetuity.
In close proximity to Highgate Cemetery, Golders Green Crematorium, Golders Hill Park, Fenton House, Burgh House and Hampstead Museum, and Keats House, Museum and Library.
Nearest stations are Hampstead Heath, Gospel Oak, and Golders Green.
My favourite Park in London, feels like you have escaped to the countryside. Great views of the city at Parliament hill viewpoint
Fantastic beatiful peaceful I love this place see trains greatplaying area wide open beatiful walking spaces
Started at the pergola, then the little zoo park then walked to Parliament Hill. A lovely day out
Full of mud nice fresh air I visit the heath about 2 time a year what a lovely place
Loved this place when l lived in London . Large enough to find unspoilt spots for quiet time and meditation . Excellent for walks and steeped in history with Kenwood House providing indoor delights plus a lovely cafe. Ponds and ducks aplenty to be found and spectacular views on Parliament Hill.
A true spot of beauty amongst the monstrous metropolis.
Amazing place to visit .And if you get there visit Kenwood House , a piece of art with free entrance .Grab something to make a picnic outside , you will not regret it !
Lovely, clean park. It was a great day as the sun was out. Not too crowded, found shade in the trees and chilled.
Lovley park worth going to every once in a while to get away from the usual city life. Love visiting this well kept park!
It was a wonderful sunny day and we didn't have time to see it all. We took a train to Gospel Oak and stayed around Parliament Hills. There's are great panoramic views of London from the top of the hill. Thoroughly enjoyable.
Most amazing nature open space to walk in London. There is plenty of experience real connection with nature and calm down from busy life. The Heath has swimming ponts both male, females and mixed. Kenwwod House is a must visit jewel with a lovely cafe. The Heath is very closed to Hampstead Village, a well preserved Georgia most beautiful, picturesque vecinity with genuine and afeable character; plenty of restaurants, old gastro pubs, shops, some chic boutiques and bakeries. Do not miss the important, Flask walk, Holly Bush Pub, Fenton House, Burgh House, Keats House,.Red Coffe Box as well as St Marys', most beautiful and petit church.
If you go here after dark you may find a veritable smorgasbord of men to play with!
A beautiful place to take family & friends, stunning grounds. At the moment you have to dine outside, that's alright but it was raining and cold.
Beautiful woodland area. Careful though you could get lost xD
Nice and quiet park, well equipped play area, impressing paddling pool. Unfortunately, I haven't seen any exercises facilities installed in the park, that's the reason for the missing star. I'm not sure if I didn't see them just because I didn't cover all the area as the park is pretty vast.
I love hampstead heath. You can get lost walking around and feel miles away from bustling london! It is just beautiful.
Great place for a midsummer night picnic. All the fairy-tale come alive.
Wonderful park. Cozy, nice views and is great for some mountain biking.
Beautiful place.
Wouldn't go out late at night even with my dog.
Favourite park in London, so easy to get lost in the dense forest areas. Many places to lay out especially during the summer for a swim to cool off or a picnic.
Beautiful open space high on hills overlooking central London and beyond. Woodland, open fields, hills to climb, meadows to clamber. Also, on Parliament Hill side there are children's playgrounds, cafe, toilets and tennis courts. Often very crowded on Bank Holidays and sunny days, but not difficult to find quieter spots. Accessible from Highgate, Hampstead and Parliament Hill.
It was a cold and windy day, but the view of the London skyline from the top of the hill was as stunning as ever, especially with the haze and the backlight.
Lots of space but ruled entirely by dog walkers. Fine if you like dogs (and I do) but for anyone who wants some peace and quiet, they're unlikely to find it if there are some curious canines around.
Best park land in London! Richmond/Wimbledon/etc can go and do one!
If you want to see animals go to Golders Hill park which is next to the heath extension on the other side of Hempstead hill.
Very nice park with a view. Perfect for a picnic or a nice walk
Used to go as a child and even as a grown up..Love it. Plus zoo is free.
Make sure you bring your own food/ drink to the park
Have you ever been to Monte Carlo? Lovely place.... but if you ask 'how much' in any shop prepare to be told you cant afford it and then be briskly escorted out. Looking at reviews for Hampstead Heath is kinda the same....
Ill leave my Bentley at home if you do... and if you don't well go figure becauseeee I aint got a Bentley.
The Park is quite big, you may need time to discover all his beauty Ness!
Feels like you've stepping into the countryside. Wonderful escape from the city
Children's play area needs checking - Adults using swings etc whilst children are wanting to use the play equipment themselves. Children's play area overcrowded!
there was a running event on yesterday that was really fun to watch, there are food options here and a fun park
Great views. Amazing on a mountain bike. Great fun for anyone of any age. It's just brilliant. Incredibly hilly though if that is a problem.
Great for a walk in the 'country' without leaving London... A bit busy at the weekend...
