Horrible company, can see green screen outline around student. Poor shots. Over priced. They showed up 30 minutes late to set up at our school and forgot the camera creating huge delays. Really poorly run company.

I'm surprised to see all the negative reviews of this company. My experience with them was great! They took my son's preschool photos. I liked their process for ordering online, the photos were high quality and the prices were reasonable. Thanks, Geskus!

I currently see 34 reviews for Geskus Photography ...

I currently see 34 reviews for Geskus Photography on Google, and about 30 of those 34 are negative. But then you have to think, how many satisfied customers go out of their way to praise a company for doing a good job??? Not very many, is the answer. So 30 people out of tens of thousands have complained about bad photos or unresponsive customer service.... not to shabby Geskus, not too shabby!

I, personally, had a very positive experience when an issue came about with my son's school photo. The galaxy-style background that we chose, based on the printed order form, came out looking like an overly bright and cheerful, 80's cartoon which will remain nameless (but you know who you are Care Bears). I sent an email to the company that evening, and had a heart-felt response (with a chuckle) early the next morning, promising to reprint the photos using the more subdued, standard background at no cost to me. Within a week, the new prints were in my mailbox. You can't ask for better service than that! (well, you can ask, but if you do, you're probably feeling way more entitled than you're entitled to feel... and you can blame society or your parents for that, not Geskus).

I'd give Geskus an A+ for the quality of their service and the photo itself... at least for this semester. Keep up the good work!

Geskus Photography took school photos of our presc...

Geskus Photography took school photos of our preschooler and the photo itself is wonderful. Our daughter is almost 4 and had a large watermark on her dress from being at school for a bit that morning. Greg helped edit out the watermark on the front of her dress and was very professional and courteous. Takes a special talent to get good photos with kids with small attention spans. Thank you.

I called and they were very polite, did not know why we hadn't received them yet. But said they would get them reprinted and send out right away!

This photography company is a joke! Worst photography company in Michigan! It doesn't even deserve a one star! I ordered my child's school pictures online and did not receive what I ordered and I tried requesting to return what I got to get what I wanted and they kept emailing me back and forth about nonsense and did not help me out what so ever! Worst costumer service, worst company, and I hope my child's school does not contract with them next year!

One is star is one star too many. Bad bad bad. Ordered two yearbooks last year, never received either one. Packages are over priced. Not good deals. I wouldn't be purchasing anything at all if it weren't for my kids wanting school pictures. Also had problems with soccer picture orders. Nothing but problems with this company.

The photographer pull out pieces of my daughter hair from her braid and she had hair sticking up all over the place. My daughter smile looked like she was so uncomfortable it truly worries me. When I reach out to them about the picture the response was so awful I could not believe how rude this girl was to me. And oh look no pictures could not be redone. why would I want them redone at this point.

I am sorry but if you don't have a digital camera to look at the picture before you send the kid off, than at least when you get back and you review the picture send me a message saying hey picture did come out so great please take a look and let me know if you would like them redone at picture retake day. Not send them home 2 weeks after picture retake day and then my child can't get them redone. I thought picture retake day was not only for kids who where not in school that day but pictures that the parents wanted redone because the first round was not so great.

I understand that things happen with pictures but then your customer service should be better, not send me an email saying "well what do you want me to do for you or are you just want to vent". Please tell me your kidding right!

Every year I end up with the wrong picture package...

Every year I end up with the wrong picture package. I will give their customer service credit though as they fix the problem. My daughters looked photo shopped into the picture, they were positioned crooked and not even centered to the background. Picture quality is low for the price, and the books have to go! It is so difficult to cut pictures out of them!

Well first off I was upset at how long it took for photos to come back. The pictures are quite grainy and it was ridiculously expensive. I am a professional photographer myself but wanted the experience of having my sons first pictures done and the excitement of getting them back. Granted he always looks cute but in years to come I may just take them myself if Geskus is going to be the company used.

They were absolutely awful. First off the wait alone to get them back is forever. My son's photos were done by Lifetouch and back within 2 weeks! It's was a good 5 weeks before we seen my daughters by Geskus. We paid extra for the premium background because my daughter loved it. It looked like they photo shopped her onto a green screen. She looked like she was half asleep because her eyes were half closed, and it was an extremely close up photo dead on front. Who does that? No one looks good in a dead on front photo. The prices were almost double what I paid for photos from Lifetouch, and I got double the photos from Lifetouch. Never again. I will take her to a real photographer, and just get the smallest package so she gets a yearbook. These people don't value their quality. This photos are these kids memories, and you're wasting hard earned parents money!

I got my sons pictures and they didn t even capture him smiling and his head was tilted. My son is nine and has a huge smile with big teeth and gaps. I would ve loved a photo to capture that! For what I paid and what I received.... I was not happy. I was going to get retakes but then my son had pneumonia. I talked geskus and they couldn t give me a retake date. She said I could send my package back for a return. That s not what I wanted! I wanted a good picture of my son who s photo is used everywhere at school. She didn t even offer a retake reschedule date and I had to ask if I could come to them for a retake. My son is in school 8:45-3:45 M-F and we are 60 min away. The only time s available were during school hours and they aren t open on the weekends. So now I have to take my son out of school just to take a damn picture. I m not happy. I still wish we had life touch which I will be letting our school know how I feel about Geskus!

I ordered online received an incomplete order for one of my kids.I then contacted customer service said they would send the rest of the order immediately. Waited two weeks ..... nothing. Then contacted them again and they said that they sent it to the school and to call them to get my pictures and they would refund my shipping cost. Both of which they did not do. So I am out of money and pictures. They have not contacted me since I called them on it. I will never buy pictures through the Geskus again.

Geskus helped me with a project for the Varsity cheer squad and went above and beyond to do so. Not sure why there are so many negative posts, but everyone I've dealt with have been nothing but kind and helpful.

I am not sure why there are so many poor reviews. It is school photography, not senior pics. I had a small issue with my daughters photos and they were SO quick and kind about fixing the issue. Love their customer service.

If I could give them 0 starts I would! I hate their cheap looking pictures and I hate their digital backgrounds. I wish my kids elementary school would go with someone different. Class pictures are stacked photos of everyone's individual pictures, instead of an actual class photo. Digital photography is great when people know what they are doing, Geskus DOESN'T. HORRIBLE quality and cheap photo paper. I think even shutterfly uses better quality paper with their cheapest package than this company does.

Their web ordering is far unsuperior to lifetouch. And they want to charge you $6 shipping for an envelope with your prints in it. Ridiculous. Send them all to the school. We won't order from hegeskus. I saw a review response that says this is gpi not geus. But th gpi stands for geskus photography inc.

Horribly inflexible, non customer-focused. Amidst the confusion of the first week of school, especially during Covid, they insist on taking pictures anyway when kids are still stressed out and not yet settled in. Plus, I as a parent wasn't aware of pictures being taken until the following week, and my kid had so much other stuff to handle, he forgot to tell me about pictures also, which was on his second day of school! The photographer took the order form without the opportunity for us to order... when I called, they said go to the website, which I explained requires a school code and a student code, neither of which I had AND THEY WOULDN'T provide over the phone. The CSR was also "short" on the phone, just looking to get rid of me as quickly as possible. The packages are also too expensive for what you get, but my larger complaint is the lack of caring about their customers. Very, disappointed in and unimpressed by this company.

Price wise this company is very similar to Life To...

Price wise this company is very similar to Life Touch; however, there are far more backgrounds to choose from. Should there ever be an issue, Geskus is very quick to respond and resolve. Their customer service is superior to other companies, and the photos are always crystal clear. Not to mention Life Touch is very pushy to sell their Spring photos by sending the various products home with the children. If your child damages the products you haven't purchased, you're stuck and have to pay it. Geskus just doesn't do that. I'm glad my school made the switch!!!

Geskus has always done my kids photos I love their work and for the parents that think it sucks or that their kids get rushed maybe you should get off your butt and go with them for their photo! I always go and every photographer that I've had takes the photo until I am satisfied. As for their prices there is a reason you order ONLINE there is 7 backgrounds at 0 cost morons! I personally won't let any other company take my children ( mind you I have 5 kids) photos!

I was fortunate enough to work with Hillary, Natasha, Don, and one sweet girl whose name I forgot(I'm old, so please forgive the brain fart)
It was one of the most greatest life experiences, I swear! Not only are they professional, and not too pushy, but they are soooo patient and kind. My son goes to Millet Learning Center here in Saginaw and it is a special needs school, so it can be a bit challenging, but instead it was such a sweet session!
Not only are the photographers really awesome at their job, but they took their time with each individual student to make sure the student was comfortable and made sure to get a smile for their pics.
There will not be a bad session with Geskus.
Thank you for letting me help and hope to see everyone again!
And Don, I hope we are not synced...lol

My 8 year old takes better photos. And thanks for the ever awesome customer service and support. I have been calling for weeks because I only recieved pics of one of my children. I've left several messages. No one answers the phone or calls back. I just tried calling again, surprise, the mailbox is full and can't accept anymore messages. Had no problems running out and cashing my check though. Thanks for nothing. Guess I'll have my kids photos done out of school from now on

Geskus has done good job with my child's school pictures the past 2-years. This year there was a problem with the personalization (we couldn't see it against the background of my child's shirt). I called and spoke with a woman named Amy. Amy was very helpful and answered all my questions and promised to take my suggestions to her supervisors to help avoid similar issues in the future. When Amy was not able to find a way for us to see the personalization, she offered to remove it, refund the additional cost, and mail the new pictures to me. Very helpful! Thank you.

I ordered pictures for my daughter back in October of this year and I have still not received my photos. They keep giving me the run around of when they will be ready. I have been waiting since October for my daughters first school pictures ever. They are not taking their mistakes seriously or my order. My advice would be to not order from this place if you want them on time or at all. They finally fixed their mistakes with my order and received my photos.

Was highly disappointed with my order. The free stuff that they give you are all perforated but the pictures that I bought were not and I had to cut them out of the booklet they set them in. This was my first time buying school pictures for my kids and it will be the last of my school goes through this company again.

I called the company a month ago to have the color...

I called the company a month ago to have the color of the background changed. The woman was nice over the phone and told me that it would get taken care of, and that they would be giving me a call when it was all taken care of. It has been a month now and they have not changed the background on the pictures and when I call the company, no one answers the phone so i can get this taken care of. I usually send these pictures out with our Christmas cards, but i don't see that happening this year. I'm not pleased.

I think the school's should go back to Lifetouch!!! Geskus doesn't put space between the pictures so you cut wrong on them!!! The pictures are of low quality and expensive!! You can't pick a different background for each sheet of pictures which you can do with Lifetouch from your phone!!! I really hope the school's wise up very soon!!! The parents should've been able to vote before we got stuck with this company!!!!

Who ever dreamed they'd be longing for the quality of Lifetouch circa 1995?
My children's elementary school photos were done recently by Geskus Photography. School pictures have never been the cream of photographic portraiture but I was honestly surprised and disappointed by how poor these were. Kids look cute (eyes open, hair unmussed, etc.) but the photos themselves? Grainy. Not sharp. One child's set appears somewhat darker in tone. Definitely not worth the $22 apiece we spent. Think Santa pics at the mall in terms of overall price vs. quality ratio.
Still weighing whether to return them for a refund and have portraits done by a decent local photog. Also, I've contacted Geskus customer service and they cannot guarantee a refund on shipping costs if I send them back. In the future, I won't be wasting cash on school pictures if they're the provider.

Very disappointed! My daughter is all bummed out because despite the fact that I already paid for her photos online, the people at the school told her she'll only be in the yearbook because she didn't bring in her "paper". If you don't want us to pay online then don't print it on the paper...duh!! BTW, my bank account was debited right away for the entire amount but the dim-wit at the school somehow doesn't know that and makes my daughter feel bad?? The photo options were some of the worst, and expensive, I've ever seen. Somehow I doubt our experience will get any better from here on out. And somehow I doubt that anybody at this company even cares.

They said they would send the package and they sent me the wrong kid. It's been a few days and still have not heard back from them. Will not order from them next year.

A few years ago, we used this service via the school for pictures for both of our kids. Very disappointed. I had carefully chosen the same background and stance so the pictures would look nice hanging on the grand parents' walls. The pictures ended up having different back grounds/stances. (of course the expressions on the kids faces were not fabulous, but I don't expect perfection from school pictures.) I good-naturedly called the company expecting an easy fix and was rudely told there was nothing they would do about it. I even offered to pay to have it fixed. I don't usually bother to leave comments on things, but as I am forced to use the service again this year, I noticed the other negative comments and just wanted to reinforce they are not a nice company with which to deal.

Obviously these are digital pictures, so I'm sure all they had to do was change the background/crop and reprint them. Unfortunately, the school keeps using them, so we buy the smallest package so we can have the same "awful" shots all kids have at their graduation parties and have professional prints taken elsewhere. here is no comparison as to how excellent the professional pictures are.

Geskus pictures are not quality and you have no recourse if you are unhappy with the photos or their handling of the orders. Note the only people who have bothered to leave comments are negative ones. Nobody who has used their service feels good enough about the product to leave positive information. It makes me wonder how many other unsatisfied customers there are out there.

If we had a choice, we wouldn't use GPI for school pictures. We only ever order the online package and often the web code is for a previous year or a year is missing altogether. They use the same web code for multiple years - It's a terrible system and frustrating. When I reach out, they have been able to find the pictures, but really it shouldn't even be something I have to ask for.

Geskus is absolutely wonderful. I have a senior this year and I was going through his photos and realized that I never ordered his 10th grade photos. He was supposed to have retakes because his hair was wet from just getting done with practice. When retakes were available, he never went down to have his picture retaken. Since I did not want to skip a year with no photo when it comes time for his open house, I sent an e-mail to Geskus asking for help. They were able to go back two years and find his photos and they did not charge me anything more than their normal prices. Thanks Geskus!!!

Last year the school used Geskus. My daughters mouth was wide open as the photographer told her to say something and snapped at the wrong time. This year same thing, my daughter has a forced smile on and it almost looks painful. I m not asking for them to take 100 shots so I can choose one but maybe two to three since they obviously don t even look at the pictures before calling the next kid up. This is the last year I will use them. I will try and get the school to use a different photographer. I rather pay a bit more for the classic school pictures I want to hand down to my daughter when she s older than fleet screwed year after year for about $75 it prints that I could have taken better and cheaper

I wish I could give this company zero stars. My kids' school district chose Geskus this year (we've always had Life Touch before) to try and save parents money, I do appreciate the thought. However the savings for my family was less than $10/child. You get one background choice, the background I wanted was an extra $3, that same background is FREE with Life Touch. Naturally I stayed with the one no extra cost background.
Let's talk quality or lack there of. There are print lines through my child's forehead, he looks super imposed on the background and the wallet sizes look blurry. The paper is glossy and terrible quality and each photo sheet is in a stapled book, which makes cutting out the photos inconvenient. None of those are things that can be fixed with retakes.

We just had pictures day and waited FOREVER for the prints to be able to view online. We were told they would be available after 10 days. Here we are a month later and I have the proofs and I'm so disappointed. I have 4 pose options and 2 are the EXACT same. I can tell little effort was made. Their backgrounds are from the 80's and Sadly, this year I wont be ordering prints. Step up your game Geskus.
