Liked the green tea cupcake, strawberry cheesecake...
Liked the green tea cupcake, strawberry cheesecake was a bit too sweet and chocolate cup cake was usual.

The cupcakes were nice and they certainly warrant a visit if you re in the city. Whether or not they live up to the hype or not, is subjective. Be prepared to stand in a line that reached around the block if you re visiting during peak tourist season. I did think that the cupcakes were a little overpriced ($3.50/cupcake) and a little too sweet for my taste. My mother, however, who has a sweet tooth for these things, enjoyed her Mermaid Cupcake thoroughly. I would recommend the Peanut butter fudge cupcake and mint cookies and creme cupcake.
The line was sooo long but moved quickly and the service was very fast. Can't wait to try my cupcakes.
Over the high price status. They just taste like any other good cupcake. Not worth the wait
The cupcakes that this place makes are to die for! It takes a lot for me to say cake of any kind is good, and these cupcakes are downright delectable. They're moist. The icing is perfectly sweet. There were so many kinds! I only got to taste 2 but they were both so great and my friends also loved every one they tried. We had the milk chocolate birthday cake, party cupcake, rainbow cupcake, cheesecake cupcake, chocolate lava cupcake, and more I can't remember. We will definitely be back! The place is not really near any metro stops, but there are 3 within a 1mile radius.
Good cupcakes. Lines are long. I do not like to wait too long.
I don't know whether I should give it a 5 star based on it's queue. It's just cupcakes folks! They really should do something about it.
Cute location in Georgetown, and the first bite makes it clear why they're so famous! The cupcakes come in so many flavours (listed in the store and on the website), but they truly won me over with the vegan and gluten-free options. Both are delicious, and I have never had a better vegan cake!
It is a nice, cozy place, very good service and customer service and their cuocakes are delicious.
If you go to Washington you must line up and eat them.
Longline down the sidewalk but it was worth the weight but not the calories.. :-)
Icing and cupcakes OH MY!! If you love buttercream icing and cool flavors, then this is the place for Y-O-U!! Even the pickiest dessert lover will love this place! It s right on the corner, staff is friendly. I give it four stars only because I gifted two dozen to my daughter s daycare and they didn t have a tag with all the flavors that I could give the teachers for reference! The staff member told me just to go to the website(but that s not an option for the teachers) the cupcake it self is almost like a pound cake, thick the flavors of the icing isn t to sweet or overpowering. Prices are pretty high one is 3.50 before tax. A dozen is 36.00 so it can add up pretty quick!
Hi girls ..
We just want to congratulate you on your program sings a lot and you don't know how I would like to try the cupcakes my daughter and I are in sings with you.
We send a big hug to everyone, by the way a greeting to Mami.
I stood in line to understand what it was all about. I never imagined cupcakes could be so delicious
Came across the country [seattle, wa] for these cupcakes and they are truly amazing. Best cupcakes ever
Not what it used to be. Not most, customer service was lacking, I ordered online and drove an hour to get there and then they tell me don't have half the flavors I chose. They could've called me, text me or even emailed me. I was not happy. On the hunt for another cupcake place.
Absolutely fantastic- we were lucky because there wasn t a crazy line out the door as usual. If you re in DC you need to go!!
The most famous cupcakes in DC. Definitely a fun place to visit. Lines are always long, so unless you are going in the middle of the day during a non-touristy time, you might have to wait. They have seasonal flavors that are always delightful and beautifully decorated. It's also fun to check out the pastry chefs in the back usually preparing the fondant for the next week. Everyone loves the Salted Caramel. Pumpkin Spice in the fall is a must. And the Peaches 'n Cream in the spring is delightful.
Great place! My friends and famliy love this place.
Great cupcakes. Famos place. Nothing but good from this place.
Love the cupcakes but a bit of a long wait. Also only one door to enter and exit sucks.
I loved everything ... obviously I was crazy about going to the place ... I was fascinated by all but especially the delicious chocolate chessecakes and ganache
I knew about Georgetown cupcake for a long time, but never tried it out until recently. Their cupcake tasted good, but their prices are high. Also, the line was really long and moved at a slow pace.
I loved the key lime, salt caramel and the cheescake cupcake... omg!!... tip: is better and no wait time if you do an online order to pick up. ;-)
The cupcakes are good but this place might be best described as America s most overrated cupcake bakery.
I wouldn t go out of my way to come here.
Hard to order online because the ingredient list is not provided, which is a hassle when planning parties for people with severe food allergies.
Parking is hard to find in Georgetown. Be prepared to walk a bit on busy days.
Cupcakes are the best around. Price and wait are a tad high, but worth it.
For Asian, it maybe a little too sweet. But! I think they have done a great job, especially for American style! I this is just great. They have so many different flavors to choose from.
Delicious cupcake... It was a bit expensive but it was delicious. ($3.85/1). Luckily, there weren't many people, so I could live without waiting.
The staff are a little messy and forgetfull! And my friend cannot speak loud enough!!
The wait was not worth it but I can say I did it and it was still good.
If you love cupcakes, you need to come here. Greatest cupcake I've had in the DMV area. No joke. And they rotate daily so you always have fresh options to choose from. The latte I got was a bit disappointing, but I came for the cupcakes and exceeded my expectations that were already high.
amazing gluten free cupcake - the cream cheese like frosting was so good! Lots of room for improvement with the customer service though, not very inviting for such a tourist drawn business.
Excellent cupcakes You can't come to Washington without knowing them
They said they shut off the coffee close the closing time, so since I was there within 30 minutes of closing time, I had to eat my cupcake with no coffee. I came across town for this experience so was disappointed. Don't go close to closing.
I got hit by the cupcake craze while staying in New York with friends. While nothing beats the Red Rooster, this place still serves out great cupcakes.
the cupcakes are good & pretty in appearance, but not great as the line out the door might suggest. the frostings are better than the cake and for a cake lover such as myself I prefer going to Baked & Wired where the cakes are amazing. Also, don't get them by mail order -I received that as a present(very nice thought), but the cakes were really dry.
Cupcake was ok. Nothing outta this world to make it cost 3.75. The cake itself was somewhat dry and the frosting should have covered the whole top of the cake.
When in Rom right?
Now that im a DC resident I believe this is a right of passage lol
After all these years the lines are still just a long and the cupcakes just as good.
Cupcakes are pretty good however on different occasions i have received some cupcakes that are really dry. It made me wonder how old the cupcakes were. The lines are almost always long but that is okay, they can t really help that. I do like their customer service as they try their best to get customers out quickly. With that being said the dry cupcakes that i have experienced on MORE than one occasion is why i give them 4 stars instead of 5
Had been recommended to go by the hotel we were staying at (Hilton Garden Inn). The cakes were not too sickly and werevery light sponge. Not too dear either.
Great options and awesome taste little bit expensive
Need to have better means of organization for customers to come and go.
Great place for desert no place to eat there so we took them back to the hotel. Yummmmmmyyyy.
The line was super long and I was not overly impressed. Worth one try to see what the hype was about
Great Service, Fast servings depending on amount of orders. Good food!
It was okay... not all that and small cake was a little dry...
Massively overhyped.
Now the cupcakes themselves aren't bad, the one star is because with the line they are 100% not worth it. You could make better or equal quality cupcakes at home from a box and with the time it takes to get to georgetown and wait in the insane line that would probably actually be quicker too.
This solidly lands in the skip it category of tourist attractions.
At the end of the day it is just a cupcake. So feel free to spend a lot of time waiting in line just to get a cupcake if you really want.
Ok so while on the way to dinner my friends told me that they wanted to go stand in line for cupcakes...I didn t get it...but once I bit into it...Lord have mercy I knew what all the fuse was about! If in DC...you MUST go to Georgetown Cupcakes!!
Very much a bucket list item! Fantastic flavors and creativity. It's definitely worth a little bit of a wait. Use Google to determine the busy vs not busy times and plan accordingly. It could mean a 10min wait vs a 1hr + wait. Really cool spot and easy walking distance to everything in Georgetown. Highly recommend.
I loved it the first time and may be going back again soon!
Manager was very understanding when it came to an accidental order mishap, I would definitely come back and order again for more big events!! The cupcakes were lovely and delicious as well
Love the cupcakes especially the cookies n cream and red velvet
Famouse cupcake place! Should visit if you were in georgetown! Soft & sweet cream on the cake!
Georgetown cupcake has the absolute best cupcakes I ve ever had. They are decadent, not too sweet, and the frosting is incredible. Also their coffee and tea is excellent. There was a pretty significant line but it didn t take too long and was 100% worth the wait. I highly recommend going here if you are in the area.
Visited the cupcake shop on our way to Georgetown and it was a delight. Freshly baked cupcakes of various flavours is just what I had in mind and this place offered it with tasty goodness. Would have preferred some more seating but I would recommend to anyone.
They have a large variety of flavors.
The wait isn't too bad (but there still is one), at noonish on a Friday. The line moves fairly quickly, and it gives you time to decide one which flavor to choose.
Cupcake:
Cherry blossom - I was hoping it had some cherry blossom flavoring in it, but it was basically just cherries.
Frosting is smooth and creamy, but way too sweet to me.
The cake itself I found to be a bit drier than I would want.
The boxing was very nice. They come in a box that keeps the cupcakes standing in place.
I was not as impressed. My wife was talking about this place for a while and I was expecting more. Also parking around there sucks. Being from the south and living somewhat in the country I am used to parking my car in open spaces. I paid $6 to park in a parking lot and I tell ya two cars can t be next to each other especially while turning. Cup cake tasted decent. Service was average not impressive.
The best cupcakes ever. Very expensive, but worth it.
a bit sweet for me. Reasonable waiting time, I visited around 6 pm.
Excellent cupcakes! I had the gluten free chocolate birthday cupcake and would never know it was gluten free. It even fooled my discerning wife! She had the lemon blossom cupcake which was also very good.
Red velvet, Chocolate squared, plus seasonal flavors are some of my favorites
Whenever I have a chance I go, I love the variety of cupcakes, their flavor is something unique.
Never disappoints. Delicious cupcakes, you can now buy cake mix and icing mix. You may have to wait in a long line outside the door, bring an umbrella just in case. Catch the Cupcake Cam on TLC for a behind the scenes experience. And always ask for the secret flavor cupcake
Long wait, but was worth it! The cupcakes look really cute and are very yummy.
Ordering takes a while and there's frequently a line to order. But the staff was friendly. I ordered Red Velvet Swirl Cheesecake and Ruby Chocolate Raspberry. I enjoyed the raspberry cupcake. The cheesecake cupcake had a Graham cracker bottom, red velvet cake and cream cheese frosting. I thought the ratio of Graham cracker to cake to cream cheese was off, which turned the cupcake more into cheesecake than cake. But I do appreciate the variety of different flavors.
Terrible customer pick up experience. The staff is rude and are curt with customers.
