Hands down, the best cupcakes in the area. I love cupcakes and have made it my business to try all the local places touted for their cupcakes. Georgetown cupcake is, by far, the best around.

The selection is huge. You can get dozens of different types of cupcakes, with flabors tgat change daily alongside everyday favorites (vanilla or chocolate birthday cake, vanilla squarer, chocolate squared). Most cupcakes rely on good cake and stellar icing. Some have a filling to add another layer to the cupcake. They have lots of different icings, from butter creams to cream cheese and ganaches. Garnishes are beautiful and tasty.

On evenings and weekends, there can be long lines, but it's so worth it.

I ordered cupcakes here for a birthday which were to be shipped. The cupcakes were never shipped until I called two days later. The guy on the phone was so not helpful. All he was willing to do was to cancel the order, not expedite the shipment or give a credit for missing the shipping date. Customer Service is a big factor for the food industry and Georgetown Cupcakes should take a course in it.

Highly overrated

Highly overrated
After spending significant time in line , we have sadly discovered that most of the items that were in display are missing, and even the one that were promised to us were missing
The team is not efficient.
Cupcakes were fine but not worth the experience

No sir, sorry... My family and I made it a point to end a day in DC on a sweet note. After walking around in museums, enjoying some Fogo de Chao (Brazilian stake house [5 stars!!!]), and painstakingly driving for about 30-45 minutes to get to this place, we walked out in disappointment... The line was not bad at all, maybe because we were there around 7PM, the employees were friendly, and the selection of cupcake flavors is nice. However, if you are expecting anything spectacular, well balanced (sweetness & flavor), or fairly priced, look elsewhere! The toppings are on the verge of needing a warning label for diabetes risk, the cupcakes are SMALL (Maybe we had high expectations...), and the prices are outrageous. Never again, sir! If you've ever had Carlo's Bakery cupcakes (Buddy's bakery in Hoboken, NJ), or Mike's Pastry cupcakes (Hanover St, Boston, MA), you'll see the difference IMMEDIATELY! Save your time, gas, parking, and money. Drive by Georgetown, visit other awesome sites there, and forego making any stops here...

Well DAMN! Arguably the best cupcake in DC. I walked to Georgetown Cupcake from Fort Myer just to see if I could get in...I did and it changed the standard in which I hold cupcakaries to. Georgetown Cupcake has set the bar so high, I am unsure I will be able to look at another cupcake with anything that resembles emotion. There is another cupcake place that was on Cupcake Wars, but they are a far cry from the quality, taste, or passion that Georgetown Cupcake has for craft of cupcaking. I will be back to stand in the line!

Their cupcakes are hands down the best cupcakes in the world when I arrived to the store before closing. My family and I drove into Boston to get our favorite cupcakes on a Sunday evening. It was 7:58 when we found a parking space on Newbury. We arrived at the store at exactly 8 and were shut down. So disappointed. This has happened to us before and we saw it happen to another person as well. Better get there well before closing.

Completely over hyped. Cupcakes are decent but are not even in the top 5 in Georgetown let alone DC. If you want to wait in the line to say you waited in the line then by all means do so, but if you want a cupcake, do yourself a favor and go down the street to baked and wired.

So so cupcakes, really doesnt live up to the hype. I would go to Baked and Wired 1/2 a mile away for really delish cupcakes in an awesome setting. Skip. If you must go, go to bethesda (instead of GTOWN) to beat the crowds

DO BETTER GEORGETOWN:

DO BETTER GEORGETOWN:
We ve all seen you D C Cupcakes show; it s why people pay $20 to park or walk over a mile just to go to your shop. Tourists especially are coming to your storefront for the experience, and your staff is NOT delivering.
I work in Georgetown and often pop over to grab a cupcake on my lunch break. Lately, the 20+ teenage/early 20 s employees have had the worst attitudes. You can see them visibly mad at customers who have a long order, and the person who took my order was ON HIS PHONE while I was ordering.
I haven t felt as angry at customer service as this in a LONG time. Georgetown Cupcake is supposed to be a happy place to try the hyped up cupcakes, snap-a pic, and just enjoy the quick little treat, but the staff s bad attitude annoys the hell out of me. Do better.

On Feb the 4th at noon I asked for a coffee and cupcakes after standing in line for a while. The guy behind the counter said we are not going to serve coffee anymore, I said well you just handed coffee to the customer before me, the mean dude goes yes but we are not making more coffee
I am not making more coffee .

Then the manager came and he said we don t offer coffee, we mentioned the Coffee big outdoor sign, the manager said no more coffee.

Another employee heard the conversation, offered to make more coffee, but the rude employee and manger said No, we are not serving more coffee

We were appalled, never understood why he treat us so badly. Unnecessary rude and arrogant. We left without coffee, the cup cake might be good - didn t eat them, gave to the homeless guy - but clearly some of the hands behind the cupcake are bitter.

Peanut Butter Lava cupcake (pictured at left) was amazing; the peanut butter frosting tastes like it came straight out of a jar of JIF but is super light. Strawberry Lava cupcake was a little disappointing. Cupcakes are a little small, too (think grocery store size), and have lots of frosting, but they give you a nice to-go box. All things considered, it's a nice place, but I prefer Baked and Wired.

Well it was super busy on a cold Valentine's day, they ran out of a couple options by 2:30pm. I really wanted the red velvet but all they had was a red velvet cheesecake. It was not that great, hubby and kids loved their chocolate with chocolate. So overall a win when my loves are happy. I parked a couple blocks and ordered four cupcakes, I didn't get a bag or the lovely wrapping hence the lower stars.

First time ordering online due to COVID and it was so easy and convenient. Ordered at four and scheduled for a six o'clock pick-up. Customer service was courteous and friendly. My order was ready and I was in and out of the bakery in less than three minutes. Smelled like freshly baked cupcakes in my car which was delightful. Cupcakes were delicious, moist and simply heavenly. Best birthday suprise for anyone.

A bit of a wait, but totally to be expected with this kind of quality and quantity. They did run out of a cupcake the order before ours ( ) which was a bit disappointing but we didn't make it until 30 minutes prior to closing so we will try again next time.

Waiting time is ridiculous. People wait just because the place is trendy and people wants the selfie and tag the f*ing cup cake, that for my taste, it was just a little better than average.

Owner needs to have more cashiers. Sell faster. Really dumb business model if you have a successful brand on TV. Production was waiting to be sold. Why not to add more cashiers, reduce waiting time to only 5 ppl and still have line outside the store???

I just felt so stupid to wait so long. This business won t last longer once ppl realize there are other worthy options in Georgetown to wait in line for.

I'm a land surveyor in Texas and just finished a survey for a client from Virginia who owns a lot in Blanco, Texas. The job had its challenges and after going over it her she surprised my family and I with a shipment of cupcakes from here. My family loved them! A+ for for taste and presentation! I look forward to sharing these by mail with others in the future!

Cupcakes were delicious and worth the wait. There s was a lineup when we got there, but it seemed to go pretty quick. We decided to go there for desert instead of having it at the restaurant. Will visit again.

Who gets yelled at about cupcakes?? I accepted a delivery for a resident in the building I work at from Geaorgetown Cupcake. After being asked to contact the resident directly, as I cannot assure the delvery be completed, the delivery person began yelling at me in the middle of the lobby. After explaining that I could not complete the delivery for him and that I was simply trying to do my job, he continued to shout and said "you have all the information right there", pointing to the delivery sheet. He stormed out leaving me to deal with his delivery.
After this upsetting encounter, I tried to contact the recipiant. Turns out they don't even live in the building! The delivery sheet had the correct address, the rude delvery person just straight up didn't bring it to the right place.

Okay...they are good. The price, well, a little ridiculous. Order online before you go to avoid the lines. Staying in DC, Crystal City or arlington? Pay the extra $15 and get them delivered to your hotel. I personally think the cucpackes are the better the next day! Love the salted caramel!

Went back and forth between 2 and 3 stars and I settled on 3. The cupcake itself was dry and not moist, and the cupcake to frosting ratio was off. There was more frosting than cupcake. Willing to go back and give them another shot, but it is hard with the other high end bakeries in the area.

I mean..they're just cupcakes. They're good, obviously, but I don't think they're any more special than sprinkles. There used to be an awesome cupcake place called Crumbs, but I'm not sure if they're around anymore.

Dissapointing. My first experience at the Bethesda store. Bought 6 cupcakes today, all different flavors and they were all stale, old, definitely not freshley baked. They were crumbly and dry. Sad because I liked the flavor but the moist and fresh cupcake experience was not there.

Their cupcakes are amazing and are something that you must try. Three stars instead of five because the line is ridiculous and because of their unwillingness to do something about it like expand their store or hire more staff. The only option to avoid the line is to order by 5:00 pm the day before.
