Everything it was cracked up to be. Only qualm was that the Green tea butterfly tasted mostly like lemon. But it wasn't bad at all.

I ve had many good memories eating their cupcakes thanks to past reps and decided to order a dozen cupcakes, online for the first time. It s easier to place the order on my computer than it is on my IPhone-so some reason, the webpage would not respond whenever I selected the option to place an order. I not only rate Georgetown cupcakes a three for the difficult time navigating through their webpage on my phone, but for their birthday cupcakes. Once I took a bite out of the vanilla flavored cupcake I realized that I could ve spend my $158.40 on local cupcakes at an ordinary grocery store and then some. Very disappointed in the taste, but hope to visit again to try their other flavors.

Good cupcakes , however the lack of customer service/respect is a great deterance.

My husband and I were in DC visiting. Our uber driver and another local told us about this place! So, we stopped in just to get turned around. Cashier told us we had to order through uber eats or an app! We explained we were from out of town and we really wanted to try the cupcakes. He still preceeding to tell us we couldn't order in the store! I was in disbelief. If someone tells me as a business that we were from out of town. There is NO way I will not serve them! It's a thing called Customer Service! That I noticed Washington DC lacks a lot of! I guess I'm just used to southern hospitality! And u just don't get that everywhere!

Excellent cupcakes. Worth the wait in the long line. Definitely my most favorite was the strawberry cheesecake flavor.

Best cupcakes I ve ever had. The mint cookies and cream are my favorite! Best to order online and pick up to avoid the long lines.

Best cupcakes hands down in the DMV area. Yes during popular times you will experience a wait but this is easily avoided by looking up flavors online ahead of time to speed up ordering and/or placing a pick up order on the website. These cupcakes are consistently delicious, very light and fluffy. Employees work fast to help move lines along and package your cupcakes nicely to-go. Minus one star for the cramped setup in the store and no discount for bulk orders. Expanding the store and offering a few deals now and then would definitely bring me back here more often.

It s worthy to be more than a half an hour in a queue to get a gluten free strawberry lava fudge cupcake that was delicious . Try to get there early in order to have more options. On Sundays they close at 8:00 pm. 100% recomendable.

Great Cupcakes. Visited on 7/5 around 12.30. The cupcakes were nicely arranged and we wanted to take pictures. One girl was a little snobbish and started making faces. Unfortunate, Hope its an anomaly.

They have some of the best cupcakes in all of DC hands down. The prices are very reasonable and the staff are really awesome.

The family raved about the cupcakes, myself, I enjoy the Red Velvet Cupcake from Costco even more. Not as overpriced as I expected. The line went out the door and up the street, but moved pretty quickly (it's a small store). Looks bigger on TV

Cupcakes are very good. Not sure if they are worth $3.25 but they do taste delicious. Only slight issue is because of how known they are picking your flavors almost needs to be done while you are outside in line. Inside there isn t much time to decide and the person taking your order doesn t seem caring enough to let you take a second to make a decision. Both my wife and a friend commented on feeling rushed.

By far the best cupcakes you will find anywhere. If you love a good cupcake, you must try this place. I have literally travelled the world tasting cupcakes, and Georgetown is still number one on my list. Try the peanut butter or chocolate. Bit sized bits of heaven in your mouth. I wish I could travel back to DC regularly to get a dozen.

Be prepared to wait for half an hour but it's worth it. Delicious cupcakes, not very big and a bit pricey but hey you shouldn't eat 'em every day. ;-)

The cupcakes are decent but not worth all of the hype. It seems like every time I get one they are a bit stale. I guess they sell too many at once to keep up with freshness? I don't know but in my opinion they are a little bit of a rip off.

Taste is good. Sells various types of cup cakes. My favorite ones are red velvet and chocolate. They open at 10 am on the weekends. This is the most popular cup cake shop in Washington D.C. It is located in Georgetown which is a famous area in D.C. They only have a few tables so you might share table with others. I do not think they have many outlets. Do check this place out when you are in D.C

Apart from their Red Velvet and Red Velvet Cheesecake cupcakes, I'm really not sure what the big fuss is about. Seems like people like them just because they're on TV. Most of their cupcakes are dry with too much frosting. The line is never worth the wait - if you order online the day before you can skip it and go straight to the front counter.

These cupcakes are the best. I bring some home whenever I visit my family and we all love them. I have never gotten a dry or overdone cupcake from here and I visit at least three times a year and order large quantities for friends and families. For all of the out of towners complaining about he price, that is the average price for cupcakes in this area. Cupcakes Actually in Fairfax Va charges 25 cents more. Sprinkles, also in Georgetown changes 3.75.

As a tip to avoid long lines. Place an order online and schedule a time to pick up. That way you can just walk to the counter and they will have your cupcakes waiting.

Cupcakes were good,but not like you'd expect from a famous cupcake shop.

Such a cute place! We got there when it first opened so we missed the line, they had one vegan cupcake option- apple cinnamon. Very good! Inside is so cute seeing all the cupcakes and pink boxes. Staff was friendly.

Even if you don't like cupcakes, you will like this place! This places had unique flavors as well trusted favorites. Keep in mind that this place is well known and stays busy which means that there is limited seating on most times.

It's true the wait can take up to 30 minutes on a busy day, but our wait was definitely worth it for our amazing cupcakes! I'm not at all a cupcake person, so prior to my girlfriend taking us here, I figured I wouldn't be getting anything... until I saw the menu, and the cupcakes. They were definitely some of the best I've had. The Lemon and Cherry Blossom are the ones that got me!

Always great and worth the line. We always take company when visiting from out of town. Even if you're not a cupcake person, you will enjoy these. Outstanding.

Location very nice and quite capacious, kind and fast staff (between order and service does not take 3 minutes), good quality products. The prices are in line with the other shops that sell cupcakes.

This place is super overhyped and spurred the DC cupcake craze of 2008. Anytime I'm in or driving through Georgetown, there's always a huge line outside this store that stretches up the block. The shop is tiny, with only two tables if you want to eat your cupcake there, and there's actually an employee that's in charge of making sure the line runs smoothly and tells you whether you can go in the door or not.

They offer about 15 classic flavors like red velvet and chocolate ganache and they also have seasonal flavors and certain cupcakes they'll bake on a particular day. You can view this both online and while you're waiting in line, you'll get a small menu to peruse so you can make decisions before entering the store (although you get this menu from the person who's manning the door so you're pretty much almost at the cash register at this point). Some other flavors include: chocolate salted caramel, lava fudge, vegan apple cinnamon, vegan carrot, peanut butter fudge, etc. During the cherry blossom festival in April, Georgetown Cupcake pays homage with a cherry blossom cupcake. During the Christmas season, they have chocolate egg nog and chocolate peppermint.

On their Facebook and Twitter accounts, they'll post a "secret flavor" of the day and the first 100 customers to ask for this secret flavor cupcake will get it for free.

My biggest beef with this place is that they overfrost and the frosting is always way too sweet and rich. Seriously, I used to have to scrap off the frosting and throw it away, it was THAT sweet. They put too much frosting on such a small cupcake and it doesn't balance out well. Cake itself is usually dry and bland. They're very overrated and overpriced cupcakes. I think the main reason why it's so popular is because they have a TLC show called DC Cupcakes. I've also heard that quality has gone down in the last few years. Despite this, they've opened a number of shops outside of Georgetown - Bethesda, NYC, Boston, L.A., and Atlanta.

If you want good cupcakes, walk a couple blocks down the street to Baked and Wired, which is more of a local spot than Georgetown Cupcake. It's quirky, hip and they not only offer cupcakes but also a variety of treats and coffee. I recommend anyone with a cupcake craving to try Baked and Wired out instead of Georgetown Cupcake. You won't be waiting for 20 minutes too, a huge plus.

This place had AMAZING service! There was a long line but we were in and out of there in less than 10 minutes. And the cupcakes are worth it! They are the best cupcakes I ever had!

Nice and soft, only downer is there wasn't any ice, soy milk and almond milk at 11am. It's too early to run out my dude. Also, I usually get charged for the subbed milk but $1 is steep. I can't help that I get a shitstorm if I take dairy.

There was no line and a huge assortment of different kinds of cupcakes..making hard to decide! We settled on peanut butter/chocolate, butterscotch/waffle cone, vanilla birthday cake, chocolate ganache, mint chocolate. These cupcakes are delicious...my kids thoroughly enjoyed them. $20 for half a dozen. Must try when in DC!

Delicious cupcakes. A lot of flavours, coffee, iced coffee. Easy access. Nice street to walk by. Children love it! Try the Red Velvet Cheesecake. Love it!

Expected awesome and tasted like store bought. Cheesecake cupcake was outstanding yet remaining cupcakes very average.

Carrot, red velvet and Christmas chocolate chip cup cake flavors are still lingering in on my tongue. The cream cheese frosting base is amazing, and would love to go back there. Star deduction for limited parking and lack line organization.

I'm a baker and quite critical of bakeries, they're almost always overpriced and I can almost always make it better then they can. But Georgetown cupcake superseded my expectations, and I will totally be going back.

I'm not sure what's up with the hype here, but it was a very average cupcake shop to me. Their range of unique flavors is the one aspect that stands out, but even then, it's just alright. There was a line here but it moved quickly and it wasn't too long when I came on a Sunday around noon. I got the lavender earl grey teacake and the peanut butter fudge, which came out to be $7.70 post tax which is quite pricey for two cupcakes of that size. Almost half the cupcake is the frosting which I didn't eat because it's too sweet and too much. The cake part was moist and I liked the melted chocolate inside the peanut butter fudge. The earl grey one's flavor was good, and the peanut butter frosting was flavorful too. The frostings were just a bit too sweet and too much. Kudos for the range of flavors, but it's really just an average cupcake shop.

This line is ridiculous! Only reason I went cause my niece wanted cupcakes and I heard these ones were famous. Really not that great of a cupcake, I've had better. Pretty much a waste of time.

Aside from its popularity, the cupcakes are awesome and I love that I can order online. I get these as a treat every so often for family, friends and colleagues.

Horrible experience! Ran out of many different cupcakes before 3pm..Also ran out of Latte..Really..Wasn't able to taste any cupcakes because the flavors I desired were gone for the day..Wow.. will never return or recommend this place.

Talk about a line. This was by far the longest I've ever waited for a cupcake. All I kept thinking to myself was, "this better be good!" We saw people come and go. We saw people try to cut in line and get chewed out by the masses. Then, we made it inside. We drooled as we gazed upon the sea of cupcakes. I got two. They were great. We laughed and joked as we ate. Was it worth it? I'd say so.

My first time going to Georgetown Cupcakes and purchasing them myself. The staff was very pleasant and the place was very clean and VERY PINK!! I purchased today on a Sunday the wait was not long at all I may have been in line with a total of 8 mins. I am not aware of all the flavors so the person who rung me up (which I forgot to get her name) she helped me pick out more flavors because I wanted a total of 18 cupcakes. Overall my experience was wonderful. Can't wait to enjoy my cupcakes!

I only had 2 bites of my chocolate one before i dropped it and the rest of my half dozen, but those bites were good :)

Trust me when I say that it's worth the HYPE to go and try! Even while I was stationed in California, I had many orders shipped to me because I missed it! They are delicious and sweet and they have gluten free options too!

I love the cupcakes and how welcoming the bakery feels. This is where I go when I want to treat myself.

You know the cupcakes are awesome when there is a line out the door and around the corner, and not to mention you know they are REALLY good when the owners of the bakery have thier own reality show! I loved this place so much on my trip to DC and i thought it was so magical how nice everyone was. The people are SO friendly and the cupcakes are SO good.

The red velvet was so moist and tasty and then the peanut butter chocolate tasted like grahm crackers and a peanut butter cheesecake! I loved this place so much!!
