The paintings are amazing. There is an impressive collection of sculptures and when you enter this particular room it's a different atmosphere. Of course, Michelangelo's David blows your mind. I can't even put to words. And, if like me, you like music, the museum of musical instruments cannot be missed!

When in Florence you have to visit this place. It is not very big but the sole reason anyone goes is to see David. The rest of the museum is very small which was something that I did not expect. But David was worth the price of admission. Please buy tickets online before your arrival or expect to wait for a long time.
Home to the Michelangelo's sculpture of David. Beyond that there is a trove of other Renaissance sculptures and paintings. A really nice place to go, but do yourself a favor and book your tickets ahead of time and pick up the shorter wait to get in. There will be a lot of other people, but if you get there early in the morning at opening you might be able to beat the crowds.
Waited an hour and a half In line for this place. No reservations required and only 8euros. Totally worth seeing the David. I don t feel bad about picking this over the uffizi at all.
GREAT museum. Not too huge (compared to many others) and it has David! David's hands are weirdly big I think. Lots of amazing art, and my favorite was the room with all the marble carvings. Can get in quickly with the Firenze card and skip the line. Well worth it!
The statue of David is even more impressive in person than in photos. It's an excellent trade off between protecting it and making it accessible. Advance tickets are a must!
David is one of the world's greatest masterpieces. Kudos to the museum for making him as accessible as possible. And not forcing visitors through an enduro chain of rooms of lesser works.
The museum says it best, the museum was built specifically to house the masterpiece of Michelangelo's David and there isn't much else there. If you do go, I hope it is part of the Firenze Card as I would not be too happy to have paid the 12 euro entrance for the gallery pretty much just to see the real statue.
This is a beautiful place, but if you do not have a private tour guide to skip to the front of the line, then you could be waiting 2 plus hours on a busy day. And the only reason to see this is for the statue David, which is incredibly beautiful, but know it will take a long time to get in. I would still recommend seeing this statue in person as it is a great history of Florence and the world.
Great Gallery where the famous David from Michelangelo is located as well other impressive sculptures from him. In addition there is a nice art gallery and music museum with original Stradivarius instruments.
Cost: 12 Euro. A reservation (4 Euros extra) is worth to avoid the large queues.
I recommend getting tickets ahead of time because the line is long even right when it opens. Very large collection of painting and sculptures and the David is a sight to see
I wasnt sure if the statue would be that impressive given the replica in the piazza not to far from it. Long story short - you need to go and be amazed. Anyone notice the hands and feet were disproportionate to the body??? See for yourself. closed on mondays. Went on a friday 3rd week of october ... had reserved ticket at 4pm but the non reserved had a very very short queue.
Unique in the world. Breathtaking show every time I see it, from Stendhal syndrome ... in its location it is for me the most beautiful statue in the world
Get there before opening if you don t want to queue for well over an hour, or reserve your tickets in advance. Once you re in it s a great museum and they don t overcrowd it so it s very enjoyable.
If there is one place that is an absolute must. It's this Galleria. They have the original statue by Michelangelo. In perfect dimensions. Showing muscles ,tendons and veins. It's just an unbelievable statue made hundreds of years ago. There is so much more. I spent 3 hours in this Galleria I could have spent so much more, but had to keep to the schedule. You all must enjoy it.
It is not a large art gallery but it is worth it especially for the David. For those inexperienced in art like I think it is interesting to go with a guide, you learn a lot and in a playful way (perhaps also for experts in Fine Arts since visits do not usually revolve around techniques, although if you talk about it, yes not to curious things or important data in the creation of the works). Without a doubt, what stands out and is most exciting is Miguel Angel's David. Photos can be taken. Must visit.
Here you ll find the original David by Michelangelo. Other unfinished Michelangelo sculptures are in display. Collection includes many 13-16th century Italian painters such as Sandro Boticelli. Plan ahead and buy tickets online to avoid long lines. It gets hot inside during summer months.
Awesome place, but a lot of replicas. The David was worth the trip. Spend the extra 4 Euros to skip the line, and be prepared for a crowd inside. David is huge, easily twice the size of life. No flash, but OK to take photos. Lots of Catholic paintings, lots of sculptures, and a body press Congo line through most of the exhibits. Metel detector was light weight at the entrance, but still sensative enough to ping on my passport.
I think that if you haven't already been to any of the regional museums this will be a great experience. If you have been to any, then the only thing unique here is the statue of David.
One of the most beautiful museums in Florence, located in via Ricasoli. It exhibits the largest number of Michelangelo Buonarroti sculptures in the world, including the famous David.
The academy gallery is famous for the numerous masterpieces inside. Most of all, Michelangelo's David, the position of the latter in the center of the path of this gallery, highlights what Michelangelo wanted to show, the contrast between lights on the stone makes the "invisible" visible, making the David seem almost human . The location of this gallery is quite central, about 10 minutes walk from the Duomo (considering the cathedral as the center of Florence), the wait is not so long and the price is moderate, especially for students under 25 years of age. 'European Union. It is also possible to have audio guides which, in my opinion, were more than satisfactory.
Negative factors: there is too much chaos due to the incessant presence of people, they could divide the entrances into groups, so that it is easier to enjoy the sculptures.
Amazing place and a must-see for visitors. Been there several times and it never gets old. Recommend that you get skip the line tickets to avoid waiting. I have never been there and not seen a line, but we have never had to wait in the line.
Beautiful museum and fabulous works, but indecent organization. Despite the purchase of the online pre-sales at a higher price with a set time, we suffered an hour's queue, despite having arrived one hour in advance, we entered an hour late. The queue without a reservation, immense and knotted around the building, I don't think has allowed even half of the people waiting to enter. The organization deserves a negative vote.
Quite the incredible place. The David is the center of attention, but after taking a guided tour, you see there are so many more little details people don t notice. I would recommend the tour guide directly across the street form the entrance as they allow you to skip a four hour line, and then give you time to explore a little on your own. Tips: 1. Go to the musical museum, there s some pretty cool stuff there too, including a Stradivarius 2. Don t be afraid to act like a tourist there, take the pictures, do your poses, because just about everyone else is doing it too 3. Take the tour, learn a little about the great Michelangelo, while it s not as cheap as a skip-the-line pass it s most definitely worth it
I had a few minutes before rushing to catch a bus to Venice. But I didn t want to miss this! So, my cousin and I rushed through this museum! I wish I d a lot more time to admire the sculpture here! The sculpture of Michelangelo s David! All those history books that I ve read didn t do much justice to the sculpture! Apart from David, the museum has many other beautiful sculptures and paintings! This place is an absolute must visit! None of the photos do justice to the beauty of sculptures, so please visit the museum in person!
Excellent Art gallery in which the famous David by Michelangelo is located. The entrance was taken out at the door and it took me approximately 30 minutes to enter. The entry costs 12 euros.
For many, they come here to see David. The details on the sculpture are awe inspiring. In addition to the famous sculpture of David, they have an impressive art collection, some plasters, a music museum, and etc. Beat the crowd and come early.
Not a ton to see. Micheangelo's David (the real one) of course and some of his unfinished monuments for Papal tomb(s). Also featured are some restored frescos many of which are largely monopolized by golden frames or backgrounds. Admission is a little expensive when most people come to see just David.
The Statue of David is reason alone to come here. It is truly a mesmerizing sculpture. Any pictures do not do it justice. Even if you are not a big art buff, you'll still be in awe of all the details and size of the sculpture. There are other worthy exhibits in here as well, so definitely worth the hefty entrance fee.
