I loved the gallery leading to *him* best... several unfinished pieces for a Pope's tomb were hauntingly beautiful, and gave deep insight into how a sculptor approaches these massive pieces of rock. Awestruck. They also have a very neat collection of ancient instruments....Small jewel box of a Museum, but so worth it!

Crowded incredible museum for Renaissance art and sculpture, make sure to buy tickets in advance or be prepared to face a 2 hour wait under the sun and/or rain. Small cafes for a quick bite around. Best visited in low touristic season.

The Michelangelo statue, David is really the most beautiful sculpture of a man body. It's pitty the rest of the museum it's not at the same level. But just for the Michelangelo's David worth to pay the ticket. Or go on the first Sunday of the month, it's free, just be prepared to stay in the line.

Florence Academy Gallery, extraordinary place. Rich in history and art, both medieval and modern. Museum known because it preserves the magnificent David by Michelangelo, one of the most famous works of the Renaissance artist.
To enter, you must first make a small queue. I recommend booking the visit, so as not to wait too long and to be able to enter almost immediately. I recommend it, especially during the summer, when the flow of tourists increases. Once inside, you have to pass the checks with the metal detector, and then you can finally enjoy the visit. The museum has bathrooms, boorkshop and ticket office. There is the ground floor and the first floor. The David is located on the ground floor.
Place generally particularly crowded. I recommend a visit of at least half a day. You can also take advantage of the audio guide service.
If you happen to go to Florence, go there because it is really worth it !! Especially for art lovers.

I think the entrance is a little expensive, 12 euros full, we went at noon and we waited in line for half an hour. The gallery is very small, you walk it in about two hours or less with all the calm, seeing the David is a 5-star matter, although you can also see it outside the palazzo vecchio for free and it is worth admiring as well, even if it is a replica. exactly the same and if it's the only thing you want to see and you don't have a big budget, that's fine. The bathrooms are fatal, very neglected.

We have bought the tickets online so access was very fast, inside they control the flow of visitors quite a bit so it is not overwhelming and you can see the sculptures well. We liked a lot.

Yeah if you want to see David its great. Dont expect much else. We were trough the whole museum in 20 mins.
Also make sure you make a reservation. We had to wait for almost an hour (in quiet covid times).

The museum is not big, you can visit it in one or two hours... when i was there this year on Easter, the line was really long, so if you go on holidays , you should buy the tikets online, that will save you much time...!

As a museum I was expecting more art being display, the have all those excellent sculptures pile together In a little room, but the 1 star is for the bouncers who have us waiting for more than 2 hours while they were passing people in groups who just happen to show up.
Very disorganized and impolite staff.

David is imperative. There are other very interesting sculptures.
There are also many old paintings. There is also a section with musical instruments and some pre-piano models.

First get a Firenze card if you plan to visit even a couple of museums. The lines are significantly faster for Firenze holders than some other options, and it is worth it.

Now, if we're being honest this museum is all about David, and oh yea there are a couple other cool things to see. That being said, I would still highly recommend this.

The David statue is at the end of a hall of prisoners. The prisoners are so named as they are some of Michaelangelo's unfinished marble sculptures. I thought it was really neat to see some of his works in the process. You got to really see his development, and I actually liked the title of the prisoners. It fit well. The statue is the most beautiful sculpture I've ever seen. It was so well done and detailed.
There are a few other rooms with artwork and busts from previous students of the Accademia.
It was a small museum, but completely worth it!

I would give a hundred stars just because of the statue of David. It's like looking at perfection. You just can't take your eyes off this magnificent statue the minute you lay eyes on it. There are many more beautiful paintings and statues as well as a section on musical instruments but to be honest I could not register anything else. I would call it the highlight of my trip to Italy. What helps hugely is the size of the statue and the fact that it is placed at a height where no crowd can block the vue. It's a must see!

After visiting the Uffizi gallery I never expected to find so many wonders even in the Accademia Gallery. Simply fantastic as is its main attraction, the David that is more beautiful live than you can imagine or believe seeing it in photography. The multimedia room with video guides on the city of Florence and the restoration of the works are highly appreciated.

To see Michelangelo's David and Pieta, 12 euros per person. There are many paintings from the Middle Ages, and sculptures are outstanding. I see a statue of Machiavelli That woman is so similar to the real thing that it's creepy...

I didn't think much, but the real exhaust David statue is different. There are not many statues bigger than this, and the space is overwhelming. There is a fresco-oriented painting inside, so it seems that there is nothing to watch carefully. There are frescoes on the second floor, so you should check it out.

I went on a Sunday in September and stood in line for an hour to buy a ticket. It was still half the price you'd pay online to reserve the ticket. David's sculpture was of course the highlight and the sculpture plaster room that showed how plastering was used to help sculpt was interesting. Paying 18 or 19 euros for this would've been too much so the 8 user on the stop ticket price was just right for what this museum has to offer.

The galleria is probably well known for the David kept inside, a copy is displayed outside Palazzo Vecchio. The rest of the artworks displayed are well preserved paintings of religious subjects: if those may not necessarily be what you like, the David will be totally worth it. There is also a very interesting Musical Instruments museum/exhibition which is quite informative and well done. I would recommend to pre-book tickets online to avoid long queues. The cost is 16 per person (when pre-booking) and audio guides can be rented for 6 per person. Enjoy your visit!

Was a quick visit but seeing Michelangelos David and a few other works were well worth it. I recommend getting a guide to give you a tour for some extra history as well as the ability to skip the line.

The art was beautiful, just avoid the bathroom unless you don't care if there is a toilet seat. Also, prepare to wait about 1/2 hr in line even if you have paid for the privilege to skip the line.

Amazing. David needs to be seen with one's own eyes. It really is stunning. I couldn't get over the detail. You could see veins in the arms. The information about how marble statues were made was fascinating. The paintings and colours in them were stunning. We bought skip the line tickets. Big line. Moving at snail's pace. Went straight in. It was worth it. Don't line up. Also make sure you see the musical instruments.

The most important exhibit is the imposing sculpture tag Michaelangelo executed . The finest of detail in the marble marvel is a must see for any connoisseur of art or a student of detail in any form . The most exquisite minute detail in the sculpture is captivating. The other unfinished works that line up the hallway leading to the David are as much pieces worth of admiration. The adjoining Rooms that have many paintings by the Italian greats are with the David as beautiful and heady. The paintings show different interpretations of religious heads. The use of different pigments and mediums are interesting to say the least. The fact that many have withstood many years of exposure and weathering testifies the prowess of the painters who used such durable material. Not to take way from the restorers their skill. Some are great , Especially the nondescript painting of saint Mary Magdalena..while the different musical instruments with the earliest Viola and cello, the Stradivari Violin, harpsichord, etc are interesting. Worth making a visit. The David itself can hold it's own yet, it's worth spending time to see all the other exhibits.

Great

Paying an online presale of 4 euros seems too much, since you queue up anyway and you have to collect the tickets at the cash desk. The works are poorly lit and so go even more unnoticed given the majesty of the David. At least the under25 ticket is 2 euros if bought directly there.

Beautiful museum built especially to accommodate Michelangelo's David, a monumental and quite hypnotizing sculpture. Entrance is very inexpensive and it is a must see. There is also the portrait room which is quite impressive.

Can be experienced individually or with a guide. Would recommend using a guide of some sort because you don't really get the literature until exiting through the gift shop where you can buy books on the sculptures and sculptors (available in many languages). Without a guide you miss out on the history of the when the sculptures were made and where they came from.

A rather small and insignificant collection. Many pieces are abject failures. There are some small triumphs though, but not many. Honestly, the only reason anyone comes here is to see Michelangelo's masterpiece, "David". If that's not important to you, then you definitely need not bother entering.

One of the steps to be included in your visit to Florence. Recall Opera is Michelangelo's David but there are other works to see organized in chronological order, suggesting the timing of artistic development even novice like myself.

If you go in Florence and you don t see David, you missed the entire point. Go early, do the queue, and enjoy Michelangelo s genius! Spend the time observing all angles of the statue and even listen to the guides around to get a few stories about the art work and the artist, it will improve your appreciation of it. Don t just go in there to take a selfie, please take time to observe the work.. nothing compares
