We reserved tickets months in advance for November 3, 2017 at 8:15 am. However, when we arrived they didn't want to exchange our receipt for a ticket and told us they were having a staff meeting til 9:45! After pressing, we got our tickets and were told to wait in line for 1.5 hrs! This ruined all of our other reservations! Horrible museum. Horrible staff. No concept of time! Do not reccommmend.

Incredible. Get there early to avoid the queues, we arrived at 10am and waited an hour to get in. Worth it! Don t expect being there all day, it s small but David is the biggest reason to go. He is worth the entry price of 12.

Definitely worth the trip to see Michelangelo's work, including the can't miss statue of David. However, the crowds and the lack of air conditioning make the experience somewhat miserable on a hot day. Go early in the morning, or better yet come back when it is not the height of tourist season.

It is a must-see when you're in Florence. Course that has the iconic David and the prisoners by Michelangelo, the take the time to explore. I especially enjoyed the Dedication to early Florence Masters.

Not as crowded as you'd think on the free Sunday during the summer! Probably because it is fast moving when all the public mainly wants is to see David. That is their main attraction. Other arts inside are mostly from Medieval to Renaissance Italy and relating to religious iconography.

A very simple gallery, when compared to the collection of the Pitti palace and the Uffizi gallery. However, you can not miss it if you are in Florence, because it is there that you can see David by Michelangelo original, besides other sculptures made by him (including some unfinished). It is worth buying the ticket in advance, as the normal entrance queue is huge.

The famous David sculpture by Michelangelo is definitely one of the highlights of Florence. You can also see many other great sculptures by other artists and you have to stop by here when visiting the city. However, we stood in line for over an hour to get inside.

The line is unbearable; it is almost mandatory to review the entries. The space has interesting works and is very careful. There is David imposing and always ready for photography. See yourself calmly in 1 hour.

It is the second time that I visit this prestigious museum, which to say, together with the Uffizi, is one of those unmissable destinations. I advise to make the tickets in advance to avoid the long queues of tourists that often form, I bought them on the musement site, they cost more than to make them on the spot but at least you are sure to enter.

The student of curating and collections can not get the discount, the student with British residence card can not get the discount. Wondering if it's a Disney land or Acadamic museum. If you are an art student, Uffizi should be your first choice! More bigger and the curated route is more clear. And it's FREE! The ticket officer in the left hand side got some attitude problems.

An important trick for this place (please mark my review as useful because it will be like this to others):
Do not ask for an audio guide, it costs 6 euros more and they will not give you anything that you cannot see for yourself with wikipedia in the gallery itself

For the rest ... The david of Miguel Angel is more impressive than one imagines, to me the notion of time was gone, I was more than 40min stunned and I could have thrown myself all day there, but plan more things to see in florence ...

You have to go yes or yes to see Michelangelo's David, although other exceptional pieces are exhibited. David is a benchmark in sculptural quality, in meaning for the Firenze of the time and as Michelangelo's masterpiece. I went in the late afternoon and I was lucky to see him almost alone, people left because the Academy closed and I had the opportunity to stay in front of him, alone. Pure magic

L'Accademia di Belle Arti di Venezia was founded in 1750 by the Venetian Senate as the school of painting, sculpture and architecture in Venice. It is known simply as Accademia. Its first president was Giambattista Piazzetta, together with the adviser Giambattista Pittoni. The intention was to reproduce the same Accademia that already existed in other cities, such as Rome (Accademia di San Luca), Milan and Bologna (Accademia Clementina). It was the first institution to study the restoration of works of art in 1777. Among its teachers were Tiepolo, Hayez, Arturo Martini, Carlo Scarpa and Emilio Vedova.

Fantastic historic gallery with the wonderful "David" by Michelangelo. The queuing is quite strenuous however and so unless you are really into your art it might not be worth the wait.

Make sure you pre book online in summer, because the queues are massive. The gallery is small compared to others, including the Uffizi, which is close and a giant. But a must see if you love sculptures/Michaelangelo. Most people will be just taking selfies,so even with soooo many people in a small place you are able to enjoy the sculptures because most of them are just not interested.

I feel like it's shameful to give the museum that holds the David only 3 stars, but here I am doing it anyway. The museum was very small and other than one statue, relatively unextraordinary. Of course, the David is absolutely perfect, and therefore I was still going to pay to get in, but if not for that I would not have gone there. You could get through the whole place in less than 20 minutes even if you read every sign. I think it was definitely overpriced to get in, but I don't regret it because the David is incredible and looks human and truly is a masterpiece.

The first Sunday of the month is free! In addition, we entered at lunchtime, without a queue! Inside there is a collection of statues and paintings, the museum of music and musical instruments, as well as Michelangelo's David! The David position is well studied, under a dome that allows optimal lighting. Usually there is a lot of crowding in the David room, so arm yourself with patience and camera!

The Accademia Gallery is a museum in Florence, located in via Riscaroli.
The museum, fourth in Italy for the number of visitors after the Uffizi, displays the largest number of Michelangelo sculptures in the world (seven of them), including the famous David.
Inside the Gallery there are also other sections, including the largest and most important collection in the world of pictorial works with a gold background, and the Museum of Musical Instruments, where many artifacts belonging to the historical collection of the Luigi Cherubini Conservatory are exhibited.
A beautiful museum that deserves all possible stars.

The art was beautiful and our guide told us and showed some interesting facts and details about certain pieces. And the David was stunning!!! I have seen replicas, but nothing can come close to capturing it!!!

I saw David (unique, magnificent !!) A few years ago. I bought the tickets through the museum website, for adults one price, for minors, students .... reduced prices, free. Today is no longer possible! To book a month before, there are no more tickets !!! Book a theft on the "official" sites !! Reduced tickets ... are missing! Students, kids have to pay like an adult !! And yet quite a lot! But it is normal that the money I pay is not all for the museum, which it deserves and needs !! ??

What to say .. in addition to David's masterpiece there are musical memorabilia, including Stradivarius violins and violins, and other relics on the upper floor, together with plaster casts for the creation of statues. There is also the possibility of listening and viewing videos in an educational room.

There are many sculptures by Michelangelo in addition to the David that makes you gasp .. but also the other "unfinished" sculptures or perhaps wanted to leave so by the great sculptor .. they seem contemporary works and you see what he said .. that what he sculpted was already inside the block ..

A must see! There is amazing detail in the statue of David, which can only be appreciated by in-person visit. Watch the video in adjacent room that elaborates on the process involved in making a statue to understand time and dedication involved in all of the statues seen in Italy.

Amazing! I recommend taking a guide to enrich your experience. I took only the audio guide and felt I missed some of the experience.
I've found so far 3 copies of the David sculpture in Florence. The marble one in the Academy is the most impressive by my taste. Can you locate the others? ;)

What to say but a really wonderful place. The David is of course the main reason to go there. Reserve your tickets in advance (really easy via for instance the app Tiqets) saves a lot of time in queues.
Use that saved time to spend with the David, do not do that in five minutes. The longer you stay the more you realize the sheer mastery of this work of art. Enjoy!

I love it for the obvious, the David, but actually prefer the unfinished slaves and Pieta because of how the figure imprisoned in the marble is gradually revealed by the master's skilled hand. They also have an excellent collection of pre-Renaissance religious art and a fascinating display of plaster casts.

Surprisingly short line to get in in the first Sunday of the month which is free. Any length of wait is worth it though for David. By far and away the most impressive artwork I have ever seen. The Sistine Chapel is amazing in the amount of time it took to paint. La Primavera or Birth of Venus are impressive for their artistic beauty. David simply takes your breath away for the size, the magnitude and the realism. A very pleasant bonus are the 6 unfinished works which allow you the tiniest glimpse in to how Michelangelo took a raw block of marble and transformed it in to something so majestic.

Genial
